[00:00:00]Hey y'all, this is George Cook at African American Reports. And I have some bittersweet news about a runoff election between two Democrats in Texas.

[00:00:06]In the Texas 18th District runoff, 38-year-old uh freshman representative Christian Menefee defeated 78-year-old Al Green with over 70% of the vote. And even though Al Green lost, I want to congratulate both men. I want to congratulate Christian Menefee on winning the primary in what is still a heavily blue district, and he should easily win re-election to the his congressional seat. And congratulations again to him for being that fresh new young blood we often hear people talk about. But congratulations are also in order to Representative Al Green, who has served 20 years in Congress and often spoke truth to power, which sometimes got his ass kicked off the House floor. But he has nothing to be ashamed of about his time in Congress.
