Well, many people around the area will be cleaning up today after yesterday's severe storms brought down a number of trees around the area. A couple hundred people are still without power this morning, mostly in the Cassopolis area. Fire crews in South Bend are also investigating whether a house fire on Leeper Avenue was caused by lightning. No one was hurt. In a unanimous vote, the LaPorte Common Council said yes to Microsoft's plan to build a second data center in the city. It voted last night to annex nine parcels of land south of Boyd Boulevard for Microsoft to expand. City leaders say this will lead to economic growth in the city. Many neighbors had expressed concerns over water and electricity usage and noise pollution.
