Ashok Gehlot Slams PM Modi’s Energy Appeal: "Explain the Real Situation"Added:
All right, uh Shweta, thank you for sharing all those details with us. Moving on to some more breaking news coming in. Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has reacted sharply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal on energy conservation, questioning the intent behind the statement. Gehlot has said that Prime Minister should explain the current situation of the country and why such an appeal is necessary. Take a listen.
All right, my colleague Arzoo is with me on the broadcast to give us more on this. Arzoo, of course, what the Prime Minister had said was essentially an appeal to citizens to conserve fuel and make certain behavioral changes like using metro services or carpooling amid the West Asia war that's panning out.
But, of course, politics is taking place where Mr. Ashok Gehlot has come out and said that the Prime Minister should also give an explanation as to why this appeal is being made. What more can you tell us?
Arzu, if you can hear me.
Okay, we'll just get that uh connection sorted. But, like I said, viewers, the Prime Minister had made a statement. He had appealed uh to the citizens of India that amid the West Asia war, uh what would be a practical step to take would be to conserve fuel, uh to make certain behavioral changes on a day-to-day basis. That includes, of course, taking the metro services, carpooling, so being more uh you know, economically friendly, conserving fuel, making better choices uh is the statement that the Prime Minister made when he was appealing to the nation. Of course, now we're seeing politics play out on the other side where uh Mr. Ashok Gehlot, uh senior Congress leader, has come out and said that the Prime Minister has of course made this appeal uh about energy conservation, but he's also questioned the intent behind the statement. And also at the same time asked for an explanation uh as to why this is happening, essentially asking for the bigger picture uh from the Prime Minister. And that's the politics that's playing out as we speak. My colleague Arzu Said will be back with us momentarily. Uh but for now, like I said, politics is playing out amid uh the West Asia war that's panning out.
All right, my colleague Arzu is back with us on the broadcast. Arzu, uh Prime Minister has made an appeal, told citizens to be cautious uh of how they use um you know, uh fuel, uh to be more um you know, uh economically friendly, use carpooling, take the metro. And politics is playing out. Mr. Ashok Gehlot is of course questioning uh the Prime Minister and asking for a bigger and a bigger picture, a a rather bigger explanation. What more can you tell us?
Uh well, definitely yes. You know, the war of words have begun after the Prime Minister appeal and now a Congress senior leader Ashok Gehlot has asked the PM to clarify to the citizen of the country what the situation of the nation is and why he felt compelled to make such a statement. In fact, yesterday also the leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi in fact raised several questions and you know, called PM a compromised Prime Minister and also called, you know, him a failure of uh policies of the government due to which such appeal has to be made by the Prime Minister. And in fact, now Congress leaders are also demanding the you know, government to convene the special session of Parliament to discuss about the current situation and to elaborate about the ongoing situation and why such appeal was made. So, definitely now a lot of war of words have begun and now Congress party is attacking the government and the Prime Minister over the appeal that the Prime Minister has made to the people regarding you know, using less fuel, less you know, making less money, don't buy goods in a year.
These are the appeals that the Prime Minister has made and now you know, that the opposition is attacking the government. Yes.
Ashu, thank you for sharing all those details. Moving on to some more breaking news.
