Why does God allow bad things to happen?

[00:00:00]You're saying, when Satan entered into Judas' heart, did he force his hand in some way?

[00:00:06]Was it a God forcing this evil to happen? No. And you're saying no. Right.

[00:00:11]And on I think on a on a small personal scale to really bring it back to the practical, you know, for people listening that are in this place where it's like this horrible thing has happened to me. Yes. And people are telling me it happens for a reason and that doesn't feel good to me, right?

[00:00:24]One, like you need to maintain the goodness of God. Like he he is good.

[00:00:28]Your circumstance, you do not have to call good, right? But is God able to redeem horrible things that happen >> [music] >> for good purposes? Yes. If you have lost a person in your life, you cannot say, "Well, God really meant this for a good thing, so I should just celebrate that they're gone." No, absolutely not. Death is the enemy. Death had a victory here. It will not last. Death is bad. We're allowed to say that. But can we also engage in thinking about Okay, like how could God minimize uh the victory that death has had here, right? How could I work alongside God to redeem what has happened and use it for something better than evil meant it for, right? I'm allowed to recognize God as good and death as evil. But then what do I do with that situation? If I choose to say, "Okay, I now know what it's like to lose. I now know what it's like to hurt and feel pain." And Paul tells us in Corinthians that the God who comforts us expects us to go and comfort other people as well, you know? So, can I use that situation to relate to people about the human experience of loss? Can I connect with them on a deeper and more meaningful level?

[00:01:41]And what if I decided to do that and people viewed me as a as a comforter. What if I could lift the spirits of those who hurt? Does that take away the evil of the death that happened? No. Of course not. Does it take away the pain of losing a person?

[00:01:57]Absolutely not. But can I redeem it for something that does accomplish God's will, that I comfort other people when they need comforted? Absolutely. [music]
