[00:00:22]It's hard to accept the fact that the thing we watched online didn't actually happen to us. So, it's like when you see something online that makes you mad. It made you mad, but it didn't even happen to you.

[00:00:33]>> It happened to you because you had to watch it or because it was sent to you and then you watched it, but a lot of times you made yourself watch it. Like sometimes you clicked on a thing cuz you were like slightly interested. Then it made you mad, but then the thing that made you mad, it's still maybe a video about something that happened to someone else. So, you're furious, which >> I think I think uh that's where like sympathy and empathy come into play.

[00:00:58]>> But so often the people who are mad about stuff are mad about a thing that didn't happen to them, didn't happen to anyone that they know, and they don't know anyone who does it.

[00:01:15]It's secondhand, you know, like even if the thing is true, it's true in that person's eyes. Like the the there's going to be tiny things that don't totally line up, you know? But yeah, exactly. I mean, that we were talking about people being mad about trans people essentially when they don't know anybody. And I feel like I see stuff online that you can pretty much tell it's a straight up lie. Like the one that I saw >> and these drive me crazy and they only go into my threads because and I try not to engage with them but they they rage bait so well, you know.

No, but I want to cuz someone someone will tweet something like uh how would it make you feel if there were a trans woman in the in the women's bathroom and uh I'll see some MAGA person be like that happened to me once but it was okay cuz I I uh kicked them out so fast and like this whole thing and I'm like I don't believe that that happened to you.

[00:03:39]>> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I feel like the the way that people uh present these things so that they can have some like anecdotal evidence that it happened is is uh it's very wild because it's like those Twitter accounts that almost every time they're not black.

[00:04:01]like whenever it's like the the like the like MAGA black guy and it's not front-facing because there are there are black people in in MAGA and stuff like that, but I'm talking about the people who are like, "No, that video that that Trump reposted of Barack and Michelle isn't racist and blah blah blah." Like, like that person, not frontfacing, just the avatar black person is almost never actually black cuz they keep getting outed. They've been out basically since Trump first ran. They've been outed every year. One of those big accounts gets outed as like a white guy pretending to be black online. And the one of them got outed in a way that was so funny because he was clearly like tweeting on both accounts at the same time and then he accidentally tweeted what he meant to put for the black account >> on his account.

[00:04:52]>> Yes. And so it was it's literally like when you're texting two different people and you sent the wrong text cuz then it was his account >> as a black conservative >> as a black conservative man and people were like what is this?

[00:05:05]>> And then he was like oh uh typo uh y'all never have typos.

[00:05:12]>> Yeah. I when I and when I was I was just reading it and I was this I was like typing out the [ __ ] I was [ __ ] typing and I was like don't >> the other reason not to do it is because a lot of like this is >> well could be a bot could straight up be a bot.

[00:05:26]>> I was just about to say that and the fact that like look this this is what I find crazy. Um, you you even get a sense that this isn't true through like online debates, but then you have to remember that in order to engage in an online debate that gets videotaped and like put out for the world, they had to find these people like it's casting now.

[00:05:48]>> Like debates aren't representative of how many people believe the thing. It's like what freak show can we gather that that like allows us to think that there are actually more people that think the moon isn't there than people who believe in science.

[00:06:04]>> So then they'll get 30 people who are like there is no moon and because there's 30 people >> versus one person who's like guys there's clearly a moon. Did you not see it? Like no that's a projection. That's projector. a projector. Shoot that up every night. There's no moon. Stop talking about the moon, dog. Y'all y'all are out of your minds with all this moon talk.

Stop playing. And so then you are watching this and you're like, "Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. This many people don't think there's a moon." Turns out that whatever this group is gathered the only 30 people that don't think there's a moon. Yes. put them all in one room versus one person who's actually like one of the one of the things that feels so brainbreaking about being in these situations whether it's live or in like like uh live on for the person that's being taped or in person person to person is that sometimes someone says something to you that is so dumb you haven't even thought of a way to counter that argument because it's never been an argument you've considered. So, it's it's like how they didn't have laws initially about a thing until someone did it and then they were like, I guess we should make a law >> that you can't [ __ ] sheep >> that you can't you can't.

And and when you put people in a room together, and I know this because we are not like uh actively having local battles all the time, like like sure there's gang violence, but it's like gang violence is is >> people aren't out in the streets screaming at each other about the moon.

[00:10:00]>> Screaming each other about the moon and then starting huge fights about it like like actual spilling into the street bar fights about it, right? And so so my thing is you you look at all the conflict that's like local, right? And a lot of it is like has like like socioeconomic beginnings to it. Like it it has it has reasons that are outside of just the people in that uh conflict, right? And then you see what the internet projects all of us to be to each other and it is consistent war.

[00:10:34]>> Yep. And so it's like like ju like just just according to like the boxes we check, we shouldn't be friends according to the internet. Yeah.

[00:10:44]>> And so and so >> I try not to engage with any of that stuff because I'm like >> it doesn't help me. It makes me think we live in a worse world than we do. Like the world, don't get me wrong, the world pretty bad for a lot of people. I would even say most. But at the same time, it's it every bit that it gets better doesn't get the same amount of broadcast as like% like, you know, CNN's not going to report on all the planes at night.

[00:11:13]>> No one's out there. Exactly. No one's out there fighting about the moon. The reality of women in trans bath or sorry, trans women in women's bathrooms causing problems. It's like [ __ ] zero.

[00:11:23]>> You know, it's But yeah, the if you just went based on what the internet was telling you, >> you'd think it was absolute chaos out here. And that's why so many people I got this all the time when I was doing Carnival Cruise Line all the time.

[00:11:49]Like, what does that actually mean to you? Yeah.

[00:11:52]>> Because are you talking about I'm corrupt? Like, who's corrupt? Who and how does that affect me on a day-to-day basis? Who's embezzling that? That's gonna [ __ ] That first of all, isn't it embezzling in your state?

There's literally like like uh I don't know if you saw the thing that just happened where Manny tried to fight it and everything, but the uh basically one of like the slum lord private equity um uh like funds that owned a bunch of like a capital that owned a bunch of buildings in New York filed for bankruptcy. even though they were making money, they filed for bankruptcy on the rent control places and and sold themselves to a different fund, like basically kept everyone in the same situation. And it's like that that is that to me is like a massive level of corruption because their their plan was to uh ruin the housing so much so that everyone moved out so they could renovate it, so they could turn a profit, right? And that to me is like >> to me that's a very corrupt thing. And it means that New Yorkers lives are worse for it. Right. But I don't know if you've been to Louisiana.

[00:13:11]Do you know what I mean? Like like reading is like one of Louisiana reading is like one of the lowest in all the US.

And it and it also isn't it's it's indicative of like the culture war battles people fight so that they can get fleeced because then you know we're over here fighting about whether or not the ten commandments can be put in the classroom. Like they're literally like taking votes whatever two years ago about it. Uh if the ten commandments should >> still going on in some states actually.

[00:13:42]>> Yeah. If the ten commandments should be put in every classroom. Meanwhile, one of one of the like state senators was like, "They can't read it."

It's >> in the way that when you go home to Tennessee and there's like like Tennessee, Kentucky, all these states where there's like private prisons that are basically engaged in like literal modern-day slavery that's being outsourced to big companies. It's like that that thing is corrupt.

And then because some of the people that I knew in Chicago were moving to New York. Like I didn't get to make close friends with them because I they were moving to New York as I was moving to Chicago. But hearing them move to New York, there was a small part of me and it was it was when I say small, I mean took two more years to act on.

So, I would poke around Craigslist all the time because as soon as I heard of people moving to like I heard about this like Chicago to New York sort of pipeline, I was like, "Oh, well, let me see what's happening in New York and like if there are shows or if it's easy to like, you know, like all >> if there are lesbians looking to see penises, no strings attached >> and like >> Yeah, I'm pretty sure I saw >> I was >> the actual Craigslist.

Um, but yeah, I uh and then I invited all these guys to meet me at the mall at a certain time because I realized I could create sort of an unwilling, unknowing flash mob. Um, it was not enough men to constitute a true flash mob because I didn't have the time to go back and forth with them. So, I just sent like, you know, probably two or 30 hundred emails being like, "Meet me here this time."

[00:23:39]And I did see quite a few men kind of like pacing around the space. This was not ethical. I I just think >> Were they all dressed the same way?

And next thing you know, police are like, "GET ON THE GROUND."
