[00:00:01]Social media was abuzz with reactions over the weekend as results from the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primaries poured in producing a mix of high-profile winners and losers in constituencies across the country. In Kaduna State, the House of Reps Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, emerged as the winner after receiving the ticket to return back to the house for a fifth term if he wins next year's election.

[00:00:29]Then, there was Yusuf Buhari, the son of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, who secured his first-ever APC ticket in Katsina State. But, one major shock was the stunning defeat of Pascal Okechukwu, the celebrity entrepreneur and content creator also known as Cubana Chief Priest. Despite his proximity to the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ejiro Tinubu, he failed to win the APC ticket for his seat in Imo State. Well, reacting to the loss, he posted this video on Instagram. Let's take a look.

Well, meanwhile, the APC primaries witnessed irregular voting over the weekend as we'll see in this trending videos showing officials tallying individuals and skipping numbers when counting. One woman jumped from number 83 and 84 to 201.

[00:03:20]But the question is, these persons, did they come out out of their own volition?

[00:03:31]There's also the question about internal democracy within the APC. We have made a point here that APC, like the other political parties, faces a problem in terms of internal democracy.

[00:03:44]That was why when the consensus uh option was adopted in many of the states, whether it's Abia or Adamawa or Nasarawa or Lagos or Ogun State. Some persons kicked and said there should be direct primaries so that people will be allowed to make their own choice. And now in some parts of the of the states where you have APC, they adopted the direct primaries, but even then there were protests, there were disagreements, there were there was violence. And then you cited the example of counting. Is it that those two are the ones counting? They don't know that after you count up to 54, the next number is not 101 because we saw it properly on the screen. So, is that an indication of a kind of unfairness that is likely to happen in 2027? Some people will say yes, and some people will say well, this is the kind of picture that we will see. We made a point earlier on in terms of many of the House of Reps members using yesterday as an example will not come back. We were quoting Mike Igini who was on this table in February and who then said that look, there are loopholes in the you know, Electoral Act 2027 that will make it easy for people to be you know, manipulated out of the process. The other point that you have seen is this anointing of candidates. I think uh uh this Buhari gentleman, it was almost taken for granted that he would he would get an automatic ticket endorsement. There were other people too, the children of this, the daughter of that, you know, their parents using their influence or family name to keep them to give them an advantage. And when you say democracy is to provide a free playing field, from what you have seen so far, particularly in the APC yesterday, and which we may also see today. You know, it doesn't look like that internal democracy is a major consideration in the process that is unfolding. And that in itself should give us cause to worry about the 2027 electoral process. Look at the lady counting on TV there. She was even wearing the Tinubu cap, you know, and did it say Emilokan on it or what? I don't know.

[00:06:16]Yes, he's a singer that is there. So, obviously, you can just jump and extrapolate and say well, she will do what she has been told, you know, including not counting properly. But to see light turnout in many parts of the states, you know, that if that is real, then it may be encouraging. But the process has to be transparent. It has to be believable.

If he didn't participate, then why did She post that? Because ST was confident that he will win the war.

[00:09:39]He's an influencer and a social media a social media influencer and you know a music artist and all of that, you know, and also a businessman. Cubana Chief Priest is well known. Of course, we expected that he was going to actually win the election. But he has come out to debunk the fact that he never contested. Anyway, some of his close ally, you know, somebody like ST Tinubu has also you know, him via his social media handle asking him not to, you know, concede defeat that there's no harm in trying. The world is for for for him and so on and so forth.

[00:10:18]And then we now talk about, you know, the the counting. This was exactly what I was trying to say on the other video.

[00:10:25]We saw this counting, >> [snorts] >> you know, and this goes to tell you the corruption that has, you know, root that has I don't know what I don't know the phrase to use. The corruption that has eaten deep into our system, into the human mind. Because I wonder what this person I wonder what he stands to gain counting with those numbers he was counting. What is what's the plan?

[00:10:52]What is he going to do? You know, planning to rig the election. This is just mere primary and imagine if we can have it this way in a grassroots level.

[00:11:01]Now, what will happen at the national level? So you see that we really have a long way to go in our country. We really do have a long way to go because I see no reason why you can count from 54 then the next thing is 100 101 200 200 300 1 million. You know, just become and at the end of the day it was recorded like that. And this is we're going to see more of this in the election. Like seriously, we're going to see more of this counting style in the election at the in 2027 election. So it won't be a surprise to us. That is the form of rigging we are talking about.

[00:11:36]But, it's good that stuff like this are really coming out. So, that people will take precautions. We'll just keep sensitizing people. Start talking about it. You know, just let everybody know that they have to hear whichever measure you have to, you know, put in place to ensure we have a free and fair election.

[00:11:54]That will be very, very fine. And then for that young boy, of course, when I saw that video, you know, and initially claimed he was 30. And I felt for him and I, you know, supported him too. From Kano, so. Supported him. He said that his people, in fact, I was watching one interview yesterday about that same guy.

[00:12:12]He claimed that he was 30. Looking at his spoken English and all of that. But, I don't want to use all those things as a measure of, you know, judging him.

[00:12:20]But, whatever it is, whatever the age is, I think I like his audacity. I still like his courage, you know, to come out.

[00:12:28]He's been on a national TV. He has granted interview. I watched him yesterday. And he was speaking. He was telling them that the people have asked him to come. And he has did this. He has did that. And that is why he's coming out. So, if at that age that we just confirmed that age now 15, 16, he's having this boldness to That goes to tell you what's going to happen by the time this young man get to, you know, 30 years that he has just claimed. I will see him in the national, you know, politics. And uh which is well and encouraging. Anyway, thanks for watching.
