A marginal risk for excessive rainfall indicates that meteorologists are monitoring specific atmospheric conditions—such as strong pockets of storms—that could lead to flooding, particularly when multiple rounds of rain occur in the same areas, causing amplified flooding effects.

Expect a stormy afternoon as South Florida shifts into a wetter weather patternAjouté :
Hi everybody, it's meteorologist Charlotte Carl. We've been tracking heavy rain all morning in Palm Beach County and also some parts of the Treasure Coast. Weather Prediction Center has issued a marginal risk for excessive rainfall. What that means is they're essentially watching for these ingredients that allow for flooding to develop. So it's these strong pockets of storms. You're going to see more afternoon storms and so we could see some amplified flooding because of that second round of rain later today. Of course, you can always stay updated with us online and on air cbs12.com.
