But instead, they're trying to actually reverse it. These cells called AEC2 are the lungs' own repair crew.

Existing damaged lung tissue is leading to the lung scarring inside of these people with IPF actually getting reversed. They have completed phase one data in healthy volunteers and FDA clearance to move into phase two in actual patients.
