Neuroscience's Top 5 Findings That Rewire Your Brain (Brainmaxxing Explained)
Added:Your brain physically rewires based on what you do and what your brain experiences. And in this video, I'm going to be telling you exactly how to maximize your neuroplasticity and rewire your brain. And make sure you're doing it the right way cuz most people are genuinely doing it the complete opposite and wrong way and they're viewing it in the complete wrong way.
So, the reason why this matters is because once you rewire your brain, it is going to change every single part of your life. When you rewire your perception of yourself and the world around you, you change what you do. What you do changes what you get. And what you get changes how you feel. And also, changing your perception changes how you feel about everything naturally. So, everything in your external will change when your internal changes and that's exactly what we're trying to do here.
When your identity upgrades, when your habits upgrade, when everything else upgrades and compounds ridiculously. So, what we're trying to change is who you think you are cuz once that changes, everything else does. So, this is what we want to do is become the person that does these following habits. But I want you to understand some things first. So, first, neuroplasticity is what you repeat, you strengthen. So, the things you do every single day or not even every single day, just consistently enough that you turn up to and do that thing, that starts to strengthen because the brain rewires based on use. The reason why is because it's trying to be as efficient as possible. Remember, your brain's number one priority is survival.
So, when your brain is re-wiring, it is doing is trying to figure out what you do most of the time and then make connections around that. For example, I've got loads of neural connections with moving my hands around cuz we move them around all the time. And this right now is literally neural circuits activating in order for me to do that the same way it is when you brush your teeth or you go to the gym or things like that. So, what we're trying to do is just really hammer those in, repeat those things to make sure you're doing them whether it's daily or frequently enough to make sure we're re-wiring around that because what happens is there's a myelin sheath that begins to get thicker and you know, the neurons myelinate and when they myelinate they become more efficient and when they become more efficient, it's easier to do because your brain's working on your side.
That's the mechanism behind it. Second, difficulty is what drives the change.
So, plasticity doesn't fire from actually one thing before I say this.
95% of your actions are subconscious.
So, what you're running on is neural pathways 95% of the time. 5% of the time that's your prefrontal cortex activating going being a bit more conscious about behavior. For example, right now I am consciously choosing to move my hand, but when I'm talking like this all the time, I am unconsciously subconsciously doing this. The same way that you will be scrolling or going to the gym or whatever habit you frequently do. So, that's important. So, second is difficulty is what drives change. You cannot actually get real change if you don't have any signals to your brain signaling that it needs to change. So, agitation or some sort of negative emotion is low-key a necessity in order to drive change. Because if it's not difficult, it won't change. So, plasticity won't fire when things are easy. It will fire when it's genuinely hard. And when you push your ability, the perfect optimum in terms of you know, really maximizing and capitalizing off of your plasticity is not to go for example, let's do books. It's not to do an easy read, the one you find easy.
It's one that just makes you uncomfortable. It's getting a little bit difficult and you're you might you know, not understand words every four or five pages so like a couple words.
That sort of thing. And then you can then adapt and then move past it. That's that acute agitation that you're looking for. And then three is sleep is going to lock the wiring in.
The changes you drive by day are consolidated by night. So, what's really important is that you understand how much your sleep is going to drive you changing your identity. So, once that is deprioritized, then everything won't compound nearly as well. So, you must prioritize your sleep. You must get that REM sleep, get that deep sleep, not just the 8 hours, but the real deep quality, regularity, and quantity that you're looking for. So, that is in extremely important because all the wiring gets told it like the highlighter gets put down on to in your brain during the day, which is your acetyl choline going change this, change this, change that.
That's your brain doing that, that neural stuff, but then when it actually rewires in your sleep. Four is exercise grows your brain. So, aerobic exercise raises BDNF. So, I do zone two zone two cardio every single day. I'm building that habit in as we speak.
It's something I've been doing for maybe a few weeks now. I've put it on my story, mentioned it a couple times. And the reason why this is so important is because you want to give your brain the fertilizer. And BDNF, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, is the fertilizer.
It's a protein that boosts neuroplasticity, which is going to give your brain the opportunity to grow these new neural pathways and make that change. And that's exactly what we want here, is to be able to shift you from, you know, having these problems and having these habits and being this identity that you don't want to be cuz remember the habits are part of the identity. Every single habit you do is a vote for who you are.
So, that scrolling habits, all of these, they become a part of you genuinely.
Your brain is constantly tracking that, your nervous system is constantly marking that down going that's another vote, that's another vote because it's a predictive machine and the more it gets to know about your habits and your behavior, the more it can optimize and make it efficient for you to then scroll again and stuff like that. It's just trying to optimize to survive. And also, it links new cells to the hippocampus, so it's going to grow your memory center, and movement measurably improves focus, memory, and your capacity to change. The This is really, really important. And also, exercise generally can just help you with your identity. If you can turn up for yourself and show up for yourself every single day, that's key core evidence to your identity that you are someone that can change, do hard things, and keep improving. And, you know, that's quite a necessity. You want to build off of evidence. And the mechanism I would kind of want you to be aware of in terms of the, you know, the absolute key core core mechanisms behind neuroplasticity is you must be aware. That's the start. And then, you must be alert. That's the next part. Then, you must be agitated, so acutely agitated. Sometimes it won't work. You're then pushing above your comfort zone, so then you're sort of getting that acute agitation.
Then, sleep. Rewiring all happens in there. That's four stages. So, awareness, alertness, agitation, and sleep. Uh you can do AAA S. That's pretty much it. And five is attention is the gate. And before I get into this, I have a school community and one-to-one coaching. If you are looking for one-to-one coaching or to talk about potential options with me, DM me Rewire on Instagram. I'll get back to you as quick as I can. Also, you'll get a free Rewire PDF that I made. You'll get free access to that, too, regardless. So, if you don't want to talk about that, then you can just take the PDF and go. And if you're interested in my school community, one-to-one coaching, they're still open for applications, or you can just join the school community from that. But, back to the back to the video. So, five attention is the gate. Focused attention tells the brain this matters, encode it.
So, what you're paying your attention to is going to rewire your brain, which is why I, you know, I hear a lot of people say like, "Oh, I know how toxic Love Island is, but like I like watching it."
Well, the reality is is that it doesn't really matter whether you know how bad it is for you or not, because it will still affect your brain in the same way.
For example, when a child is brought up in a toxic family with toxic parents and they're, you know, producing toxic love, what happens is that the child tends to grow up and find themselves in the same relationship even though that they know what they saw was toxic, subconsciously they walk into the same way because they uh their attention was there. By the way, that doesn't mean it's set in stone and you won't be able to change that.
That's not true. But, the whole point is it doesn't matter whether your attention is paid to it or not. If you're constantly seeing that and being there with it the same way you would be watching Love Island is the same way your brain will start to, you know, your mirror neurons will be firing it and your brain's constantly re-wiring and it will be re-wiring in that process in that moment. So, that's important. And so, every interruption trains to switch instead instead of sustain. So, and it blunts the drive it blunts the drive to focus. And guard your attention and guard your ability to learn at all because, by the way, this is a fact that your attention is worth more than gold.
That's why, you know, social media viewers is such a big business and makes so much money because that's your attention being sold into it and that's how it gets turned into that much money.
So, the the most important thing here is to understand that you must have a clear destination. The more specific about like this is the the the here's how you actually apply this.
Work on your sleep.
Focus your attention on what you want to become and then write around within a thousand word essay on what your habits are like every single day, morning and night, in maximum specificity and who you want to become in maximum specificity and write that all in the present moment and then also write evidence that you are that person and keep building it and keep building it every time, every single day, evidence that you are that person because once it's locked in as your identity and it becomes a part of who you are, it's very hard to change and it's very hard to go back and your habits will follow along.
People go habits first, identity later when it's identity first, habits later.
So, just understand that quickly. And uh if you want to look learn about identity further, I've got an identity video.
But, yeah.
This is exactly it. So, your brain is being rewired every single day, whether you choose it or not. So, repeat the right things, and you'll get the change that you're looking for. Repeat the wrong things, and you'll stay the same.
Or, it'll compound worse. If you change, it'll compound better. Thank you very much for watching. I enjoyed making this video.
