Overprotecting children from hardship can hinder their development of resilience and resourcefulness, as true resilience is forged through struggle and challenges rather than being shielded from them.

Resilience: Raising Tough Kids in a Soft World #shorts本站添加:
Does anybody notice that uh a lot of y'all that are raising these little suburban kids who ain't never been through nothing that sometimes they can't they can't make it through nothing? Anybody anybody know what I'm talking about? Cuz they don't they don't have the same hunger you have. They don't have the same uh res resourcefulness that you had. Uh they've never had their back against the wall.
They've never had to hit rock bottom.
And I can and I can say from my I've had my version of it where I can remember having to be resourceful, hitting rock bottom back against the wall, having to figure it out, right? And and when kids don't go through that because we want to protect them from all the things that we went through, >> in a way you can almost say that that's a you're you're in a way you could be harming them, right? Because life is hard.
>> Life gets real hard. Yes. and uh you better be ready to to fight a little bit. What what do you say ti? I mean you're very resourceful and and I know that like for example just one thing you told me among many things that you've dealt with is Katrina you had to in your early 20s suddenly figure out how to survive in homelessness and you just went out to LA and made it work. Can you speak to that?
>> Yeah, so I was in New Orleans and um Katrina happened. I was I had evacuated to Baton Rouge and um I think uh um uh Blue Cross gave us 25 20 $250 on a card and I knew that I wanted to live in Los Angeles or it was either Los Angeles or New York and cuz I wanted to work in the industry and so I just came I came. I had an audition though, I will say that that was scheduled before Katrina. So I think it was all in divine order, but there was a audition scheduled and I was like, man, I don't got no money. I was like 21, 22 years old. I was like, I don't got no money to go to LA. I don't know how I got to pay rent. You know, it was August 29th, so rent was due. All the things, right? And um and then Katrina happened and I saw it as I didn't see it as an opportunity then, but I came to LA um for the audition.
