Together, they carry nearly 2,000 pebbles to raise a nest that will hold their eggs through sub Antarctic storms. They take turns lying on those eggs for 35 days, sharing every cold night, every skew of shadow overhead. When pebble hatches, weighing barely 96 g, the Gentu penguin pair does not rest. They begin the relay. One bird at the nest, one bird in the southern ocean. every single day.

[00:17:39]Leopard seals patrol the surf zone. The crash of gray chicks huddles together in the open wind, learning what danger looks like. And through all of it, Atlas and Luna keep coming back.
