The video offers a pragmatic take on biohacking by emphasizing that individual neurochemical baselines determine a peptide's effectiveness. It is a necessary reminder that cognitive enhancement is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor but depends entirely on one's physiological starting point.

Don't Buy Semax or Selank Before Watching This
Added:In today's video, I am going to give you my 6-week update on taking Semax and Selank. I started taking these compounds 6 weeks ago because I wanted to improve my cognitive performance, focus better during the day, and be able to switch off my brain at night. 6 weeks later, one of these compounds is genuinely one of the best things I've put in my body for cognitive performance, and the other one, I couldn't even tell you if I was taking it or not. And I even bumped it up to a very higher dose and still felt nothing. So, in today's video, I'm going to run you through what's happened, why I think it's happened, and also what nobody in the peptide space is telling you when they try and sell you this combo. But first, nothing in this video is medical advice. I'm not a doctor. I'm just a man on the internet who enjoys taking drugs and experimenting on himself. Everything in this video is purely for entertainment purposes and based on my own personal experiences.
So, don't try this at home. Don't do what I do. Now, let's get into the video. So, if you missed the first video, Semax and Selank are both synthetic peptides that work on the brain. They both have research behind them, which puts them above half the things in this space, and they are almost always packaged together as the go-to cognitive stack. Semax is derived from a hormone which your body already produces, and that name is ACTH. And what this does to the brain is fairly well documented. It increases BDNF, brain-derived neurotrophic factor. BDNF is essentially growth factor for your neurons. More of it means your brain adapts faster, builds connections more efficiently, and recovers better. On top of this, Semax increases activity in your dopamine and serotonin systems. So, when you put all of this together, you are getting more BDNF, more dopamine, and more serotonin activity. You then have a compound which has genuine cognitive benefits. And now, Selank.
Selank is a analog of something in your body called tuftsin, a naturally occurring peptide that your body produces. Its primary mechanism is working on the GABA system, and GABA is your brain's main inhibitory neurotransmitter. GABA calms your nervous system and reduces anxiety.
Selank works by increasing your sensitivity to GABA A, which means it enhances your brain's natural calming response. And there's also some evidence behind it to suggest that it modulates serotonin, but its primary mechanism, the one it was built to do, is reducing anxiety. Both of these compounds come out of Russian clinical research, and they were developed for neurological and psychiatric use. So, Semax gives you sharper focus, and Selank removes any background anxiety. So, the pitch is when you take them together, you're going to feel calmer and more locked in.
So, now let me tell you what actually happened when I've run them for 6 weeks.
First off, let's start with Semax. I have been taking this at 1 mg a day with a subcutaneous injection. And the first thing I noticed was I had a better mental sharpness, and this isn't something that I have by default. It didn't feel like a stimulant. It wasn't like I'm smashing a triple espresso. It was more like I just had reduced mental fog. I'd sit down to do a block of work, and my thoughts were cleaner, and I was able to stay focused for longer. The other thing that I noticed, and this genuinely surprised me, but my memory was just getting better. I was reading and just retaining more information. And if you want to see daily updates on all of my peptide experiments, go ahead and follow me on Instagram at William Day Fit. I post over there every single day, so don't miss out. And now let's get into Selank, and honestly, this was a bit of a disappointment. I was running it the same as Semax, 1 mg a day subcutaneous injection, and I felt absolutely nothing. No change in mood, no change in stress, literally nothing.
I thought maybe I was being too conservative with the dosing, so I bumped this up to 2 mg and still felt absolutely nothing. And I think this all comes down to I am not a very anxious person at all. Selank modulates GABA, it reduces the anxiety signal, and if you're not someone who is very anxious, it's not really going to make much of a difference. You're basically going to be pointing a fire extinguisher at a room that isn't on fire. But if you genuinely have anxiety or elevated cortisol, then Selank might genuinely be a great compound for you. But for me personally, it did nothing. So, where does this now leave me after 6 weeks? And I'm going to continue taking Semax, but Selank, not for me. You're out. And I think this is a bit of a broader issue in the peptide space. People are always recommending compounds that genuinely might not work for you. Your baseline cortisol is not the same as mine. Your GABA activity, your dopamine, and your stress response are not the same as mine. A compound that did nothing for me might genuinely be impactful for you. But taking blanket stack advice with no blood work, no baseline, and no idea with what you're actually trying to fix is just going to leave you wasting more money than you need to. And it's this kind of lazy advice that I always like to push back on. And that's the video for today. If you have run either Semax or Selank or both of them, drop your experiences in the comment section. I'm always very interested to read your guys' experiences. And if you like the video, like the video. If you want to see more content based on peptides, retatrutide, and fitness, hit the subscribe button because I post about this stuff regularly. As always, really appreciate you guys watching this video, and I will catch you in the next one.
Peace. Pow.
