This pivot to military threats reveals a preference for high-stakes brinkmanship over the patient complexities of sustainable diplomacy. It risks turning a nuclear standoff into a broader regional conflict that could destabilize global energy security.

Trump eyes NEW MILITARY ACTION against IranAdded:
This morning a bold show of force from the White House as the ceasefire with Iran does move closer to collapse.
President Trump now weighing potential new military action in the Middle East after rejecting the regime's latest counter proposal which failed to meet the key US demand to end its nuclear program. Mark Boyle checking all the latest at the live desk. Good morning to you Mark. Iran knows the terms. They know what the president has for. He's given them more than enough time to make a deal. So what's next in all of this?
Well, it appears as if the president's moving towards the option of maybe militarily going after Iran Jan once again. [music] Right now Iran's counter piece proposal came up empty handed short and the president says project freedom is a military operation that's paused that he might restart once again.
This would allow the US Navy to help guide cargo ships through the Strait of Hormuz. When the mission was ongoing, we knew the US Navy did take on several attacks from the Iranian military including missiles and drones just to name a few. The president also telling reporters recently he's considering stepping up military strikes again there in Iran after receiving the briefings from CENTCOM forces in the Middle East.
It was just unacceptable.
You know, a lot of people said, "Well, does he have a plan?" Yeah, of course I do. I have I have the best plan ever.
Iran has been defeated militarily totally.
They have a little left. They probably built up during this period of time.
We'll knock that out in about a day.
Meantime, the State Department is offering a reward for information on the inner workings of the IRGC's financial dealings. The administration offering $15 million for details on how Iran's military group is financially backed and paid for. Who's helping them dodge US sanctions? Finally this morning, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and other top defense officials said to be on Capitol Hill in about an hour to an hour and a half. We'll track that for you here at the live desk. All right, Mark.
Thank you very much. The White House also increasing the economic pressure on Iran imposing new sanctions on a network accused of shipping Iranian oil to China and then funding the regime. The US targeting multiple leaders within the IRGC and nine companies tied to that alleged operation. Those companies based in Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates and in Oman.
