[00:00:03]>> I'm I'm trying to catch up here. I may not be as smart as some of some of the rest of us. So, I'm just going to ask some really simple questions. So, um Memphis is a predominantly African-American city. Is that correct?

[00:00:27]This is a state lawmaker in the state of Tennessee. Everybody knows that Memphis is majority black. Everybody, you don't have to be a state lawmaker to know that. Everybody know, they know what they did. They know they split apart a majority black district yesterday when they did this redistricting Here's why this is important. See, they think they're being cute, right? When the lawmakers deny even knowing that Memphis is majority black, they're doing that because the Supreme Court said they can gerrymander the districts as long as they don't do it for racial reasons.

[00:00:57]They can't have racial intent. They can have partisan intent. So by denying that they even know that Memphis is a majority black district, they're basically saying, "My goodness, we we're not even aware of that. We don't even notice color. Why you people who think about Memphis being black, you're the racist, we're not even aware of it."

[00:01:15]See, they think they're being cute. They think they're being clever, right? But here's why it's not so clever. When you're going to lie about something so obvious as that, it raises the question, well, what else are you lying about? And what they're lying about is their intent. And if the good guys have a good lawyer, and I'm sure they do, when they challenge this district, they can impute intent from that. Because the only reason you would lie about even knowing that Memphis was majority black is because that was all along your real intent. So, by trying to be cute, by trying to be clever, what they've basically done is given the good guys the ammunition to go to court and say, "These people are disingenuous. They're bullshitting, and it's quite obvious there would be no reason to lie about it otherwise." See, these kickers aren't as bright as they think they are.
