A bill about flying a certain flag with a message flew through the state Senate this week. The Senate passed the Chief Stephen D'Eserio Act unanimously, 31-nothing. The bill is named after former Kirkersville Police Chief Stephen D'Eserio, who was killed in the line of duty on May 12th, 2017. Senate Bill 202 would ban homeowners associations, civic associations, and landlords from prohibiting residents from flying the Thin Blue Line flag. The legislation would add that flag to a list of protected flags, including the American flag, military flags, and the MIA/POW flag. The bill now goes to the Ohio House for consideration.
