In FPV tiny whoop racing, weight significantly affects flight characteristics: lighter drones (16.5g) demonstrate faster indoor performance and agility, while heavier drones (17.7g) provide better stability and precision for outdoor freestyle flying, making optimal weight selection dependent on the intended flying environment.

Does A Lighter Tiny Whoop Actually Make A Difference?
Added:Now, if you have flown a tiny whoop, you've probably heard someone saying every gram matters, but does the difference in weight actually change the characteristics of the tiny whoop? In today's video, we're going to check that out, and I'm going to share with you the difference and why. And if you're new to the video, this is Shugon Emperor, and I am a Team Happy Model drone pilot, and hope you guys enjoy the video.
>> [music] >> Now, over the course of many years, I have heard people say that 1 g matters, especially for tiny whoops. So, here I've got a tiny whoop that weighs around 17.7 g, and here I have another Mobula6, and this one has its weight reduced to 16.5 g. Now, I have shaved off some of the material from the frame, and also removed one of the motor screws from each point. I don't have plastic, aluminum, or titanium screws, so this is what I'm going to go with for now.
First, we'll do an indoor flight, and this is a relatively large space as compared to tiny whoop racers who are actually used to flying small tight quarters and going through race gates, but I chose to use this as it would [music] give me a much better data and comparison for the video.
I launched at 30 seconds and reached this pillar at 54 seconds. So, that gave me a time of 24 seconds.
Next is the 16-g tiny whoop. Now, the time is a little inaccurate, but we're going to measure it from the time we take off until the time we reach the last pillar.
Now, I actually made a mistake coming in on the second pass of the fire hose reel, but even then, the time that I actually had is 1 minute 17 seconds, and we took off at 1 minute. So, this one's a 17-second run for the ultra light Tiny Whoop. Here, I've placed a side-by-side video from the time it launched and from the time I reached the last pillar on the second lap. And as you can see, there's a massive difference in time and the ultra light Tiny Whoop, which weighs at 16.5 g, actually made it a lot faster than the heavier one, which is at 17.7 g. So, Tiny Whoop racers do this on another level and and they do this in a smaller space running through race gates, which are uh really, really precise to the point where you can barely follow their movements.
Now, here is the difference where it totally changed for the two Mobula6 that I have.
And this is the outdoor flight. In the outdoor flight, the heavier Tiny Whoop tends to be more stable and flies better as compared to the ultra light. It feels more precise rather than loose like the ultra light Tiny Whoop. But, all in all, this is where the difference actually changed and I feel that the heavier Tiny Whoop actually makes a better freestyle Whoop for outdoors. And do remember that both Tiny Whoops are identical except that one has gone through a very rigorous diet.
So, there you have it. The weight actually makes a difference for FPV drones and most of you might already know this, but this is for those guys who are new to the hobby. And if you're new, welcome and hope you guys have fun.
Well, that's it for today's video. I hope you guys enjoyed that insight and till the next one. Thank you all for watching and see you guys again soon.
Ciao.
