New 3rd Tower crane up at HS2 Curzon St

Um I had some stuff on today, but at least we get a closer look at the Kursen Street site uh on this Monday after the work that's taken place this weekend. Uh we can see a lot of work has happened, especially with a third tower crane base. And despite this being past 8:00 p.m., there were still people at work on the site attaching weights and things like that. We'll have a look at that in a moment. Uh we'll go down to the tram track and see what's going on with them working on the mains and uh yeah, it's all good. If you do have the chance and haven't yet, please do subscribe. [00:00:59]Hello everyone and welcome back to another video here on the channel.

[00:01:05]I just want to start off obviously from the canal uh the tram tram track side of the sides. Um I just wanted to start off by saying you can now see that the tower crane has gone up.

[00:01:21]That's obviously brilliant to see. And eventually that means that all these columns down the bottom, all these concrete columns, these are going to become um basically Ubeam sections, um decking sections as I've called them, but temporary false work. Um and uh yeah, we'll obviously have a much closer look at it in just a moment. You can see it's now been fully built. I was bought over the weekend. And that's how it compares to the other tower cranes on site. It's very, very similar, if not the exact same specification.

[00:02:01]Um, and I'm just going to do quite a quick little overview of the site here.

[00:02:14]I'm aware this is a much much later video than usual. Um, I was very very busy today. Uh but I hope it provides a decent update as we have had quite a lot of work to be placed over the weekend.

[00:02:25]Again, we'll get into what park caps have been done and what hasn't.

[00:02:30]Uh but this is at the end of Monday.

[00:02:33]Um and as we look over the site, you can see the Ubeams are back on top of the SPMT, but they haven't been delivered.

[00:02:44]Um somebody said they really like this angle. um from the other side of the the railway um as it gives a pretty good perspective of the site from a bit further back. Um as we look down here, obviously we'll go down here in about 20 minutes time.

[00:03:06]Um maybe less on the video. I might not do a long one tonight just given the the time that it is. Uh but we can see it looks as though that full uh that white sheet has been lifted up. Um and we can see a lot of the decking has gone up um around that or that formwork has gone up around the um other canal pier that doesn't cover just yet.

[00:03:33]But anyway, please do join me as we go down now towards the tram trucks.

[00:03:47]There's a lot of cars driving around here. So, just going to travel down here and see what we can see.

[00:04:04]So, as we start off down the back down here around where I am, we can see that they're still working on this work right over here on the the top of the left hand side.

[00:04:31]Um, they've still got a lot of ground to fill in as we go down New Canal Street.

[00:04:50]And then as we fly over this little bit of work that they're filling in.

[00:05:01]This was uh some sort of work to there's a lot of work going on down here that protects the workers when they're down there so that the ground doesn't fall on top of them. So, whatever they're building there, this where the no parking is is going to be I think where a traum stop is going to be.

[00:05:17]As we fly over here, we can see a lot of excavators.

[00:05:29]They're still dealing with all those mains. I know it takes a long time, but they are dealing with those. I thought maybe they might have been slightly more progressive pose. Um, as I stuck like that for a while now.

[00:05:52]And as we look down here, looks like they made pretty good progress smoothing out that aggregate they were delivering. Um, looks like they're they've come down quite a way.

[00:06:05]There's still a bit fenced off that they have to do. If we just look over at the other side to see if we can see anything going on down here.

[00:06:17]Doesn't look particularly like it. Um just looks like the aggregate's getting pushed about getting ready for that concrete pull where eventually um they're going to spread the uh spread the concrete out and then put those tram tracks in.

[00:06:53]Yeah, it looks like they have spreaded the aggregate, but it's still a lot to be done down here, especially where these mains are. I hope they can get a move on with that this week and hopefully over over the next few weeks that'll all be covered back up.

[00:07:12]Apologies if you can all hear some people back down past the teeth and then this is the new BBC West Midlands headquarters that's undergoing an 18month fit out but we can actually see Um, it's quite nicely finished now.

[00:07:46]It's not fully done just yet, but it's getting there.

[00:07:52]And then obviously we're going to go over and have a proper look over at Curs Street now and just take a quick look over the sides. I don't intend to be as long as usual. And uh, yeah, we'll get a good idea of what exactly is going on.

[00:08:12]Right, I've actually just been thinking to myself, I've got to be very careful now with the uh amount of cranes on site. It is a quite a minefield. So, I'm actually going to stay far away from them. I know no one's here at this time, which obviously helps. Um, but we are just going to take it nice and slow.

[00:08:33]You can see in terms of these U beams, uh, not the U beams, very, sorry, the the piles in the corner here, we've done a blinding layer and a lot of that is starting to get poured.

[00:08:50]And as we look over at these columns of the top, a lot of the rebar is going up.

[00:08:55]And it looks as though the formwork has gone up on that left hand side for one of them there. So that's getting poured.

[00:09:01]And they'll extend down here. And we can see where the columns will be eventually down here on these pile caps.

[00:09:10]Still yet to work on that one on the left hand side though. It's had a bit of a landslip or the one on the top right.

[00:09:20]Rebar progressing well on that right hand side, but not not done just yet. I also wonder why sometimes um for example this one in the middle of the screen here the outsides of the blue formwork goes white. Is that because they spill some of the concrete down or or what why does that happen? Um if anybody knows please do let me know. I guess it's just they they spill some over the sides.

[00:09:46]Um again we can see all the columns very neatly done up here around what is this third tower crane. In fact, so it's right about uh 8:00 p.m. now. Um and we can actually see workers on site lifting up what I think are weights um with the hook.

[00:10:12]So, let's see what's going on there.

[00:10:29]As we fly over the top of the site, apparently a huge concrete pour is about to take place up here.

[00:10:35]So that'll be interesting to see what happens up here.

[00:10:46]Again, we can see the rebar progressing, getting thicker towards the edges, the right edges where they haven't done so much work just yet.

[00:11:01]We film the uh storage area just to see what might happen in the future, what they might be installing next.

[00:11:17]And there obviously is that power unit.

[00:11:32]And this is a look back over the site just to compare it to the view we had before.

[00:11:44]and then going to fly down the left hand side.

[00:11:52]We can see a new lorry delivering stuff.

[00:12:20]and whatever these people are doing.

[00:12:33]It's now obviously lifted up the scaffold then People whip it around this bend in their cars very very quickly.

[00:12:46]Um, so there we go.

[00:12:51]Again, looking over at that new area, that blinding layer again. This is an area I like to target a lot.

[00:13:06]looking over at this area of piles. So, they've poured that big one on the right that I was waiting for them to do for a while. They've now uncovered some on the left.

[00:13:17]Looks like the final ones before the whole road.

[00:13:22]They got lots of power caps down here.

[00:13:29]Now, as we take a closer look over at the U beams, we can see the amount of formwork that's gone up is staggering. And as I mentioned, they've cleared out all this bit of storage area over by these um Word's original shaped um tablet shaped columns. They're getting ready to extend and put another blinding layer down, ready for the format to continue.

[00:14:03]Let's just say quite a lot's happened to that section in the middle there. Um, a lot has happened down there and that looks pretty structurally strong now. You can see some bits on the ground that they're obviously going to put in.

[00:14:19]Any new U beams delivered on the site?

[00:14:21]Doesn't particularly look like it.

[00:14:30]I'm just going to head over here.

[00:14:34]Take a look at everything down here. So, we can see here that this is where the in fact this well, we can see drawings on the ground of where the E beams need to go in the future, but we actually thought the next ones were going to go down here.

[00:14:53]And again, we can see formwork building up down here.

[00:14:58]This is going to extend across here. And that's where the SPMT is. Again, we can see two U beams loaded.

[00:15:08]And hopefully we get them driving in pretty soon as that's how it looks a couple of days ago. Obviously, they had to take it apart, everything like that.

[00:15:16]I am just quickly going to fly over to the office space.

[00:15:24]Just to get a bit of an idea of exactly what is going on over here.

[00:15:50]We can see a sort of perimeter has been put on it down the outside here on the bottom of the screen. There's some more of that lattice stuff as well.

[00:16:01]Um, and then there's also some more work happen down here. So, obviously getting ready to do the next concrete pour, which should pretty much finish off this uh this little area outside.

[00:16:15]We can see as well they are that's where the Trump tracks are.

[00:16:20]and where they feed down here and eventually they're going to go under the right section of these U beams.

[00:16:29]I am now just going to head over to cur number two and uh take a look over at that.

[00:16:39]Now, as we fly over towards the canal side, we can see a lot of scaffolding has gone up.

[00:16:50]very recently.

[00:17:00]Looks as though they still got a bit to do. Another bit of another sheet of metal's got to go on the top of that.

[00:17:06]And obviously a lot more formwork and scaffolding. These two are still under there.

[00:17:12]Um sheets, their formwork sheets. Are those people down there? this later at night.

[00:17:20]Don't think so. I think they're just coats. Why not?

[00:17:23]Um, I'm going to do this quickly.

[00:17:24]Obviously, I'll be back again tomorrow uh for some more progress.

[00:17:30]Again, that decking making section still resides where it was, hasn't moved. And over here, we obviously have Roy Lory Middleway. That bit hasn't rusted yet. I think we'll need some rain before it rusts and turns the color of the of the rest of the the bridge work.

[00:17:50]And just having a look over here over Lorly Middle and Lory Middleway Vio.

[00:17:57]I'm just going to try and get a brief little look before ending the video at what it looks like down here. as I know they're getting ready to put up the next section.

[00:18:14]Again, it's still just those three blue areas uh with a bit of sort of Jenga looking connections or not Jenga kinetic looking connections if you ever play with that. Um so they're joining them all up.

[00:18:30]Um and obviously that is K's number two by just a look past it.

[00:18:41]And then as we fly back over here, they've taken they've taken down a lot of that scaffolding. Actually, there was more across the the side there. Well, that's gone as a bit of a mystery. And also, this is a delivery they had recently.
