Political figures sometimes adopt different accents or cultural markers when campaigning to connect with voters in specific regions, but this strategy can be perceived as inauthentic and may contribute to authenticity problems within political parties, potentially alienating supporters who value genuine representation.

Desperate Democrats torched for ‘fake’ accents in high-stakes play for votes
Added:Hello, I'm Gabriella Power. Thank you for your company. AOC is trying to be the new Kamla Harris, debuting different accents everywhere she goes to try and connect with voters. Listen to this.
>> That it took for them to get to that moment.
We must double as we descend here on Memphis >> to organize and care for our brothers and sisters.
We cannot afford to leave Tennessee behind.
>> We cannot afford to leave Kentucky behind, Alabama behind, Mississippi behind, Georgia behind, South Carolina behind.
There is no country when we are split apart.
About a month or two ago, we're in Montgomery, Alabama. Sister Presley and I were in Montgomery, Alabama. And one of the things that we said was that it is time for the north to roll up to the south.
>> Okay, that is AOC from New York City.
Everyone adopting a different accent while speaking in Tennessee. And she's clearly gearing up to run in 2028. And it's such a bizarre strategy that prominent Democrats have used for some time now. Here's Kamla Harris doing the exact same thing on the campaign trail.
>> Better thank a UNION MEMBER.
FOR THE FIVE DAY WORK WEEK. YOU BETTER THANK A UNION MEMBER for sick leave. You better thank a union MEMBER FOR PAID LEAVE. YOU BETTER thank a union member for vacation time.
>> It's too much. It's just it's too much.
And it's so silly and not that original either. Here's Hillary Clinton doing the same thing.
>> I don't feel no ways tired.
I COME TOO FAR.
FROM WHERE I STARTED FROM. Nobody told me that the road would be easy.
The AOC is now doing it. You know, something gives me the feeling that Democrats might have an authenticity problem, which is why Hunter Biden is now the new face of the party. He's just been featured in this far-left podcast with Jennifer Welch, where they laugh about the idea of beating up Donald Trump. We'll have that for you later in the show. But the Democrats are losing supporters by the day. Comedian Bill Maher is warning that he may not be voting for the party come 2028 because it's being taken over by far radicals.
>> You told JD Vant you're open your your your vote is up for grabs.
>> Yes, my vote is in play because it can't be Trump running.
>> Mhm.
>> So I'm not living in communist America.
I mean I know the the talking point is well it's not communism. It's socialism.
Okay, I've read the quotes from the DSA >> platform from their own mouths. Don't tell me I'm not seeing what I am seeing.
And DSA again, they they say things like, you know, takeover of key industries, government, that's communism. You know, there is a definition.
>> By the way, Trump's doing that, too.
>> Of course. Yes.
>> And and and and to a a degree that we haven't seen any other president, Democrat or Republican do.
>> It's that's crazy, too. It's got a piece of Intel, a piece of the AI companies.
>> He treats everything like it's a real estate deal.
>> We'll be unpacking this in just a moment. But what about the Democrats and the midterms? How are the Democrats actually tracking? Well, actually, not that well. CNN's polling analyst Harry Enon is warning that the Democrats hoping that their party will retake the House this November have no reason to rest easy. Recent polling from the Washington Post and CNBC shows that Democrats, well, they have a much slimmer lead in generic uh ballot polling than the Democrats saw in past cycles where it picked up enough seats to retake the House of Representatives.
So, Harry Anton said yes, they are ahead, but only by four points, which is significantly less than what we saw in 2018 and 2006. And for Democrats, this is a warning sign.
Joining us now is Army Horowitz filmmaker. Army, it's great to see you again. What do you make of Bill Mah sounding the alarm that the Democrats are being taken over by radicals? He's not exactly wrong.
No, he's exactly right. And and folks, that's a great recipe to lose an election when you have guys like Bill Maher saying, "I'm thinking about jumping ship." Um, you know, the most interesting and and frustrating thing about this thing with the DSA is that the media, um, not of course Sky News Australia, um, but the media continues to push this narrative that, um, the DSA, they're not communists, they're not Marxists. They keep pushing back on that framing by the conservatives. They keep saying, "No, no, no. They just want higher taxes. They're attacking affordability. They want lower rents in New York." It's so weird how they refuse to acknowledge the truth. But the reality is that there are two co-chairs, national co-chairs who run it. Uh, one is Megan Romer and Ashik Sadiq are both members of communist caucuses. One is from the RedStar Revolutionary Marxist Leninist Caucus. This is uh Megan Ror whose primary goal is to abolish capitalism and achieve communism. Sounds communismy to me. and Ashik Sadiq from groundworks which says it's a Marx Marxist eoocialist caucus. I I don't know what am I missing here. The top five caucuses which control the vast majority of all the national electoral people on their board all are Marxist.
So I'm so sick and tired of being gaslighted and being told these are not Marxist. These are not the droids you're looking for. They are the droids I'm looking for. They're the Marxists. And Bill Maher also says that he's now open to voting for JD Vance. Listen to this.
>> You told JD Vance, "You're open. Your your your vote is up for grabs."
>> Yes. My vote is in play because it can't be Trump running.
>> Mhm.
>> So I'm not living in communist America.
>> Very telling. But look, looking at the Democrats, they really have an authenticity problem. Let's just look at AOC for example. She thought it's been she thought that it would be a good idea to go out to speak to voters by putting on a different accent. It's not an original thought by the way when you look at some of the other Democrats who have done this in the past. But let's just listen to what she had to say.
>> Efforts that it took for them to get to that moment.
We must double as we descend here on Memphis >> to organize and care for our brothers and sisters.
We cannot afford to leave Tennessee behind.
>> We cannot afford to leave Kentucky behind, Alabama behind, Mississippi behind, Georgia behind.
About a month or two ago, we're in Montgomery, Alabama. Sister Presley and I were in Montgomery, Alabama, and one of the things that we said was that it is time for the North to roll up to the south.
I mean it is so bad.
I mean who is telling her to go out and do this?
>> I don't feel no ways tired.
>> Remember that last thing from Hillary Clinton who also when she was in Harlem pulled out some hot sauce from her purse. I mean no this is dem this is the what the democ democratic politicking 101. It's so contrived. It's so cringe.
Uh, by the way, are we still doing is is cultural appropriation still a thing or have we given up on that? I don't remember. I don't know where we are in that situation. Are you It's It's code switching at its best. Um, yeah. I don't Gabrielle, I don't know if you too young to remember Ebonics. Do you remember that?
>> Too young.
>> Yeah, >> way too young.
>> You are. I don't know why I asked. Oh my god. This has been going for such a long time. No, she's just Alec from around the block. if the block is in Mississippi. Oh my god, it's unbelievable. You know, it's not the first time uh that she was caught with this black scent, right? She did the DNC um in uh the a few years ago. Um but of course, when she was asked about that, you know what she did? She actually blamed white supremacy for it. Yes. She said, "When I had to go to school, I had to pretend to speak like a white person." Um and that's why I have to go back to my roots from the Bronx. Um, look, she's trying to sell far worse things than just her black scent, okay?
I mean, she's trying to sell that the that the that there's no legitimacy for the US Senate because just for, you know, from a a a legacy of Jim Crow.
God, my god, this is crazy. I mean, this is where we are at with the Democratic party. She she is one of the leaders for the Democratic nomination, Gabriella.
This is where they're at. She is she is one of the leaders and she hasn't ruled out a presidential run in 2028. So, she's right now trying to build bridges with, you know, some in the party who claim that she's drifted a little bit too far to the to the left. It It's pretty interesting. But look, let's turn to New York City now. Mayor Zaran Mandani. He says that his administration's legal department is examining how to best arrest Benjamin Netanyahu if the Israeli prime minister visits New York for the UN in summit, I should say, in uh September. So, he told the New York Times he's a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court, which is interesting because Marco Rubio is right now launching a campaign against the IC.
Donald Trump has responded to this uh posting on Truth Social saying Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested in any way, shape, or form while in the United States of America. Clearing that right up, he is fighting against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which recently killed 52,000 innocent protesters and has spent the last 47 years killing American soldiers and others. The only ones that should be arrested are the people that led Iran into this unprecedented spiral of death and destruction. Something that should have been dealt with years ago by previous presidents. Now, Benjamin Netanyahu's office has also responded to Mandani's threat posting on ex Mr. Mandani should focus on fixing the damage his policies have caused New York Army. Can I get your reaction to to all of this by Mamani?
Yeah, totally tracks for comrade Mdani for sure. Um, first of all, obviously it's what doing that would be totally illegal. Goes against federal statutes.
The I the US is not a a a signatory of the Rome Convention and the ICC because the ICC is an absolute joke. It's a kangaroo court. Um, of course, the the the um the warrant for Natu's address was uh was signed by a person who was summarily fired uh for sexual assault allegations. And by the way, I don't remember the IC putting out an arrest warrant for any of the North Korean leaders when there's currently 120,000 people roughly in these North Korean goologs who are being starved and murdered and sexually assaulted and tortured at all times. Uh nearly half a million people have been killed by the North Korean regime. There's no no arrest warrant there. I don't think no arrest warrant for the Iranian leaders uh who have killed tens of thousands of their own people just in the past uh few months. Um so yeah um but there isn't a westworn for Netanyahu who was involved in um probably um the most careful uh uh bombing campaign and attack on an urban city in modern warfare where the uh kamas uh uh terrorists were actually using civilians as shields. So yeah, but I will say this about um comrade Mdani.
Uh look uh he is somebody who uh said he wants to um uh negotiate with Iran the side which is a a direct violation of the Logan Act. Somebody said he want to globalize Vintif which sounds kind of terroristy to me. So maybe I should roll up uh to his office and do a citizens arrest. How does that sound Gabriella?
>> Will you film it please Army? Will you film it for us?
>> Of course. Look, I you filmed quite a bit and um you've also attended some of these anti-ICE rallies which I want to get to in a moment because I want your thoughts on the latest news that attacks against ICE agents are absolutely continuing. A man suspected of protest protesting ICE has been arrested after lighting a fire outside a building in Manhattan. There you go. Injuring two federal employees and one civilian according to law enforcement. So Army, as someone who has been at these ICE rallies, what can you tell us, you know, just how extreme can they be?
>> I mean, I did a video where I went to an ICE protest in Minneapolis and I asked people um there, you know, I had hidden cameras that said I was raising money to kill ICE agents. Will you give me money?
And people gave me tens and tens of dollars. I probably, you know, raised over $100 uh in less than 15 minutes. I kid you not. Uh, and the only reason why I I stopped doing it was because they recognized me and my security had to pull me out. Otherwise, I could have raised thousands of dollars to murder ICE agents. That's how crazy and radical they are. Um, and this is, look, this is um nothing new. Uh, except that again, the media's portrayal of what's happening here is what's so crazy. Like first of all, this thing barely registered among CNN uh and NBC and I was look I had to scroll down to find an an actual terrorist attack in New York City. Um and of course they they were trying to obiscate what his motivations were. You know, the FBI said he was an anti-American, right? Openly anti-American. NBC had no mention of that whatsoever, of course. Um, and these are all kind of the the problem that we're seeing with with the left and the violence that's coming from the left. You know, I do uh fun with AI. And you know, I asked AI, um, can you list all the attacks from the left and all the right? And that's all I asked for, but at first it had to give me context and say, well, first of all, most violence comes from the left. And I go, does it really? And then after we saw the list of who attacked who, it didn't include attacks from the left, uh, Manioni, it didn't include, uh, the trans attacks on all different schools like Covenant. So, there's a direct offiscation of the violence that's coming from the left, and this is just another manifestation of that.
>> No, we're seeing it all the time.
Interestingly, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is warning that violent far-left political terrorism can no longer be denied. And this needs to be treated as a global counterterrorism priority.
Let's just listen to it.
>> Fundamental character is always the same. It's always the same. It is a poisonous resentment cloaked in the language of equality and justice and liberation. an overwhelming need to tear down what greater men have built, to wreck what is beautiful and what is right on behalf of people who are only filled with ugliness and have nothing else to offer the world through violence.
>> He's very impressive, Marco Rubio.
>> He sure is. And uh I will be supporting him for the presidential nomination to be sure. Um, and I I look, I got to tell you, it's it's this idea that there's this again this consent structure that exists for violence on the left where you see it among, you know, mainstream comedians, mainstream figures, um, you know, people like Bill Burr the comedian joking about Manion's death. Uh, Cobar and and and Jimmy Kimmel. Like these are people who are who are joking and laughing about um violence coming from the left and actual murder. You know, Manion is this perfect example of a litmus test on on the support for leftist violence. 50% of liberal college students supported what Manion did. And what you see is that what what we've had is this Overton window has has moved has has enlarged to allow for what we call social murder. If you're doing something for the sake of social justice, then that's a good thing. That's something that should be lauded. That's something should be applauded and approved of and all you're seeing is that that contagion is growing and you're seeing more and more of this violence coming from the left.
>> Yeah, we we really are. We have to keep speaking about it. It's unbelievable. I want to get your thoughts on last week's speech by President Donald Trump revealing intelligence showing that China compromised election infrastructure in the largest breach of American voter data in history during the 2020 election. During his speech, plenty of news networks just refused to take it. Some cut off halfway through his speech. But Donald Trump was speaking about secure elections. You would think that that would be a pretty important issue to many Americans, that it would be a pretty neutral position to take to have secure and safe elections, but plenty of Democrats and even reporters were upset to be hearing about this from Donald Trump from the very start. What did you make of it?
>> Yeah, look, it was an interesting speech. I agree with some of it. You know, had you had issues with other parts of it. You I'm really I don't know why it keeps going back there 2020.
Well, right. He's he's you're president again. uh President Trump, you don't have to keep dwelling on the on the laws you had. Uh you've come back from it. Um it it makes him look very unpresidential. But having said that, um no, he said some incredibly important things. He's obviously stumping for the Save America Act. And I think the Chinese infiltration was the was the most fascinating thing he was talking about. China is actively trying to influence our elections. I know that the left keeps talking about Russia and and and what they're trying to do to influence our election, right? because they perceive Donald Trump being pro-Russia. I really don't understand why they keep uh pushing that agenda even though we've been proven over and over again that's false. It's you know fake fake news. Um but you know even the he was talking about the deep state and I I know people think that's very kind of like um conspiracy theoryish but look there you know they're they're Kathern Herage formerly at Fox News did a report recently talking about the CIA was trying to redact and push back a report that they had about the the extent of Chinese influence on our elections uh because it thought it would help Donald Trump's argument and was amplifying uh the Russian stuff which actually wasn't as big as the Chinese. So th those are all the problems we're talking about.
And then again, the silliest of the silliest is this push back from the Democrats on voter ID. I just can't understand it. No one, barely anyone in this country who's not a hard leftist thinks it's a problem. Certainly not the people they're trying to protect. I mean, my the biggest video I ever did was my voter ID law when I went to Harlem and every single person I met said this is a joke. We all have ID.
We're all happy to show our ID. And you know what's even crazier is that you know they keep pointing to Europe and say Europe is the model for this. Well Europe basically every country on not basically every single country on continental Europe has voter ID laws right the only European country is is England a dozen but the other ones all have it. So I don't know why they keep saying this again they if you don't remember not that long ago Biden saying voter ID is is Jim Crow 2.0. What a disgusting slap in the face to the people who actually lived through Jim Crow where they couldn't drink from the same water fountain. Shame on you. Shame on you for everyone who keeps saying that.
>> It's just interesting voter ID. It's it's an 8020 issue. And you I've heard clips of of Kamla Harris in the past also, you know, speaking about wanting secure elections for them. And Donald Trump said that he was going to be speaking last Thursday. she was instantly tweeting before he even got up on on stage to say um basically don't listen to him. It's interesting 55 million people turned in or tuned in to watch the FIFA World Cup final and Donald Trump was there presenting Spain with the FIFA World Cup trophy at Metife Stadium in New Jersey. And he certainly knows how to make sure not to miss a moment. Look at this.
I mean, he makes me laugh just being part of it, walking away, but the shot kind of captures it. He He knows when to be part of the the celebrations and when all cameras are on him.
>> Oh, he sure does. And actually, I'm surprised he didn't do the last time he did when he presented a cup in a in a so in a soccer tournament for the finals was he actually was jumping up and down with them as if he was one of the players on the field. I love that about Trump. It makes him so relatable. It's so sweet. It's wonderful. I love that.
>> Yeah, it's very funny. Army Horowits, it is wonderful to have you back on Power Hour. Thank you so much for making the time. It's always great to talk to you.
Always a pleasure, Gabrielle.
