ANGRY ANGLICAN BISHOPS SENDS STRONG WARNING TO LEADERS ON TRIBAL POLITICS SAYS IT MAY CAUSE VIOLENCE

[00:00:00]So today we were unloading uh radius uh to Kenya Anglican women ministry.

[00:00:07]The Kenya Anglican women ministry is uh a ministry under the mother's union in the African church of Kenya. And uh this ministry is basically for the purpose of empowering the ladies within our churches to be very very good in terms of the family in terms of uh parenting and also in their responsibilities within the communities or the societies where we live in. So today we were able to enroll uh over 1,000 uh from only 20 parishes. We have another 50 parishes to go. And we want to thank God for those that have responded to the call and especially to be equipped and to be fashioned uh for the purpose of uh taking care of the families, taking care of our societies and communities at large. Yes, this is an annual event. We will be doing it every year. They go through training.

[00:01:16]They go through capacity building and they go through various uh training uh areas that actually uh is meant to equip them to become better uh mothers and to become better members of the families.

[00:01:33]Yes, the church we have been reminded today that actually we are we must bear uh fruits that are actually according to God's teaching. And so the women that we have enrolled today, we have asked them to go outside there and actually bear fruit. Bear fruit within the community.

[00:01:56]The fruit of peace, the fruit of reconciliation, uh the fruit of living together as brothers and sisters, uh the fruit of forgiveness and other fruit that actually promote our community's wellbeing. So they will become agent and instrument of peace. They will be the instrument of uh love. They will be instrument of cohesion within our communities going forward and especially here in Nairobi. We have tked them. We have charged them actually to be instrument of peace. Yes. Our message to the country at this particular time. We know we are seeing uh very heated uh political temperatures ahead of 2027.

[00:02:44]We must be reminded as a nation that we have a country to protect uh beyond 2027.

[00:02:51]We have a nation to build before the election day and we also have a country to live in after the election day. And therefore we want to ask uh from each one of us in this nation basically to become instruments of peace. We must learn to live with one another. We see many nations of the world with many uh communities living together. They have been able to overcome the spirit of tribalism and the spirit of ethnic division. We must therefore as a country ensure that we do not agree and accept to be mobilized uh from uh ethnic background or to be mobilized uh for political purposes from actually ethnic uh background and whoever is calling us to violence we must actually say no to such. So we must become uh peace makers.

[00:03:50]We must also become peace lovers. And we are saying that here in Nairobi as you know too well we have all of us living here people from different part of the country and even worldwide and therefore we cannot afford to be mobilized ethnically. We have to be remain faithful uh as Christians, as Kenyans so that we can be able to embrace one another and we live together in harmony even going forward.

[00:05:41]It is important for us to know that trust is very important and uh it is important for the nations or as a nation to trust the instruments that are actually placed for for the purpose of the governance of a country. And so we want to ask that those who have been entrusted with those structures of governance, be it the parliament, be it the judiciary, be it the executive and all those who have been given those instruments actually to earn trust uh from the members of the public. Because when we do not trust our uh institutions then what happens is that people would start actually uh taking uh role uh by their hands. They would want to do things on themselves and so we want to ask Kenyans number one that actually we trust the institutions that are there and those who have been given the responsibility in different institutions basically also to earn that trust in a very big way.

[00:06:50]We are reminded very well that when we don't trust uh our institutions the country get into apathy where we actually feel it is us to defend ourselves. It is us to do things for ourselves rather than the instit institutions that are actually before us. So those in those institutions you have a big responsibility to earn trust from the Kenyans and also for us Kenyans we have a responsibility uh basically to trust our institutions even going forward out of that we'll be able to live together in harmony and we'll be able to uh coexist uh together we'll be able to serve justice we also be able to be served uh justice at the end of the day yes the church has always remained in in matters to do with health. As you walk around the country, you see many uh health centers that are actually established uh by the churches. As a Anglican church through the ads, we are what we call the Anglican Development Services. We have several uh hospitals uh across uh the the country and it is a will of the church that actually all people every person should actually be able to access uh health care regardless of where they come from regardless of their background regardless of their financial uh status. And so we want to ask and to remind ourselves that this is a collaborated effort. Each one of us we have a role to pray and as a church we try to do our level best uh basically to ensure that we take part in the health of our communities in well-being of our communities uh here and there in whatever that we are doing. My name is Faith Kabiro coming to you from ECK DES of Nairobi, president of the mother's union dous of Nairobi and uh the mother's union is a ministry that that that has been given the responsibility to minister to all the women within our douses and today is a big day for us as we as we endeavor to see that every woman is able to go through capacity development and empowerment and is given an opportunity to be able to serve to serve within in the church. And so as the mother's union department, we take the responsibility of preparing them through training and we train them in the in the different thematic areas. We train them in the area of marriage, in parenting, prayer and fellowship, community outreach and also reproductive health. And the goal of this is to make sure that as they do life, their ordinary life as mothers, whether it is within their families or within the communities, that they have the capacity to be able to do that. And so we are excited today to see uh over a thousand women having gone through the capacity development and committing today to be able to serve within the church. And so to us this is um this is a human capital. To us this is an asset not only for the church but also for the community and also to the nation. All right. And so we have we have mothers out there who may not be members of Kenya Anglican Women Ministry. And this ministry is open to all Anglican women.

[00:10:09]And all that we are asking is that um they take the steps necessary to be able uh to go through the two sacraments, baptism and confirmation. And then after that they come in uh how however that they are they are welcome so that we can walk this this uh journey with them. And so it is an opportunity for for for all the women to be able to go through capacity development. Uh our our expectations as as the mother's union department is that uh the journey we have begun with them especially of training is not going to be a one-day activity that the ladies are going to be open for us to be able to walk that journey with them so that they are able to get better day by day. And so we have other programs lined up so that um apart apart from the foundational training that they have gone through that they'll be engaged in continuous development through different programs in their different segments. My name is Irene Choke. I'm a member of the Kenya Anglican women ministry that has just been launched and uh the reason as to why I decided to join this ministry is because women play a critical role in society and uh many in 2007 for instance the church was blamed that uh we did not do a lot but we can start from women because women are very powerful. They can start from their families. They can talk to their children. They can talk to their young people. We can talk in the community and we can do a lot of community service and uh so the Kenya Anglican women ministry it's just about service. It's about community. It's about going out there to protect that which the Lord gave us which one of it is our country. So basically I am here because I want to serve my country and I would start at the smallest level which is my community which is my church. So you know when you have one empowered woman it's powerful but when you have two a thousand 2,000 and many many many empowered women it is very very powerful because this women go out to spread a message of peace go out to check on families that maybe are not together and find out why what went wrong and try and fix the issues. So basically this is an army an army of the Lord that is going to spread peace in the country.

[00:12:36]>> Um so my name is Julia Waniko. I am also a media professional and I'm so excited to be part of the Kenya Anglican Women's Ministry. What I love about this is that it incorporates every woman. It does not discriminate and I love that we are bringing women together because we are saying nothing for us without us. So I think one of the places where women's voices have been missing and where they need to be amplified even more is the church. So I am so thankful to the Anglican church as a whole and the diosis of Nairobi for bringing us together so that we can also speak about the issues that affect us from motherhood, reproductive health, parenthood and just womanhood as a whole. So part of the comprehensive training that we went through entailed uh how to parent as a godly woman.

So, part of the comprehensive training that we went through entailed uh how to raise children as a godly woman, marriage in the godly sense, uh community, fellowship, and prayer. I think it's going to change the environment because um the church has been accused many times of being quiet or being irrelevant. And I think this training especially in terms of peace and cohesiveness is going to be very instrumental for us as we head to the general election.

So back to your question um how we do mentorship the the Kenya Anglican women uh ministry is a ministry under the mother's union department which is used to mentor and disciple uh all all women and we all belong every woman is important is valuable in the eyes of want.
