This video demonstrates how to eliminate shrinkage and thermal cracking in complex oil drill castings through a combination of gravity sand casting with open gating systems, waste round exothermic risers, external chills, tie bars, and geometric modifications (changing right angles to rounded corners), optimized using ProCAST simulation to achieve stress reduction from 1000MPa to 158MPa, controlled deformation, and elimination of internal defects, resulting in products that pass NDT and two-place load tests while meeting API standards.
