'Netanyahu A War Criminal': Mamdani's Big Update On Bibi Arrest In New York | Watch

[00:00:00]Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal, the architect of a horrific genocide against the Palestinian people. He is responsible for the killing of more than 73,000 people, for the maming of tens of thousands of children as those who survive undergo amputation without anesthesia. For the targeting of neonatal hospitals and maternity care centers, denying newborns even the chance to live. For the countless people he starved as he blocked food and humanitarian aid from reaching them. for the gunning down of hundreds of aid workers and journalists. And just last month, the UN confirmed that Palestinian children continue to be deliberately targeted and killed by Israeli armed forces more than 8 months after the so-called ceasefire. The list goes on and on, all as we as Americans pay for the bombs that do the killing. There is a reason the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest.

[00:00:54]As human beings, we have spent generations building a shared understanding that there are crimes so grave they offend all of humanity.

[00:01:02]Anyone with their eyes, with their heart, with their conscience should recognize the devastation he has wrought and understand that he belongs before a court of law. As I've said, I agree with the ICC that Benjamin Netanyahu should be arrested and tried for his crimes, as I do for anyone else charged by the ICC.

[00:01:23]My administration has reviewed every avenue available under applicable law to determine whether New York City could execute the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant if Benjamin Netanyahu came here. It is clear that we do not have the independent legal authority to enforce this warrant. The federal government, however, does and I call on them to join the ICC and execute this warrant. And I want to be equally clear. Benjamin Netanyahu is not welcome in New York City, nor is any other war criminal at large. While we cannot end the genocide on our own, we can decide whether our silence will become another weapon. And we can examine every tool we have to defend the humanity and dignity of all people. That is my commitment to you. And when it comes to Benjamin Netanyahu, we're speaking about someone who's the subject of an international criminal court arrest warrant. and he's the subject of this arrest warrant for alleged crimes against humanity um for war crimes and he's the architect of the genocide against Palestinians in Gaza as Israel's prime minister. These are not facts of my personal assessment. They are facts of public record. And I believe that when we when someone is charged with an international criminal court warrant, it's something that should be taken seriously. Whether it's Benjamin Netanyahu or it's Vladimir Putin or whomever else. What I've also made clear is that my administration will follow all applicable local laws.

[00:02:43]That is our commitment. That is something that we will follow through on um when it comes to an adherence to local law. What occurred outside of 26 Federal Plaza this morning was deeply disturbing. I'm relieved that no one was seriously injured and that a suspect is in custody. My team is in touch uh with our NYPD and we will be supporting the federal investigation. Our administration will continue to ensure that every New Yorker is safe in their city and that we hold anyone accountable who threatens them. So, I want to first clear up a few things. Our administration did not reach out to the prime minister of Iran. Um, our administration received a request from the Iranian consulate and as soon as I heard of that, I made it clear that we are not meeting and we will not meet with the Israeli consulate here in New York City. And when it comes to Benjamin Netanyahu, we're speaking about someone who's the subject of an international criminal court arrest warrant. And he's the subject of this arrest warrant for alleged crimes against humanity um for war crimes. And he's the architect of the genocide against Palestinians in Gaza as Israel's prime minister. These are not facts of my personal assessment.

The remarks prompted responses from both US President Donald Trump and the Israeli Prime Minister's Office.

[00:05:03]Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson has accused the US president of abandoning his America [music] first agenda and placing foreign interests above those of the American people.

[00:05:14]Speaking during an interview on Bloomberg's The Michel Hussein show, Carlson claimed the country was moving toward a dangerous [music] political crisis. This as Republicans face mounting eye over a series of issues, including the Iran War and rising energy prices. Carlson, who backed Trump's 2024 [music] re-election campaign before a fallout over the Iran war, said, and I quote, "Trump has been totally [music] disloyal to the US. He cheated on the US with a foreign power. I don't think he is the most powerful man [music] in the world. I have held him directly accountable. It's his fault. He's the US president. A huge part of the job is resisting [music] pressure from outside forces. He didn't. So, he's weak. He couldn't restore peace. The strong [music] leader restores peace. It's also a verifiable statement that Israel pushed us into this and Trump allowed them to do that. The [music] Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, said that on camera. This is not a conspiracy theory.

[00:06:15]The US is [music] unwilling, maybe unable to restrain Israel. Carlson further said, and I quote, "Trump allowed the [music] US government to be completely steered by this tiny little country in the Middle East, Israel, to [music] our great detriment." On numerous occasions, Trump has reiterated his claims of victory over Iran. The country is booming and we'll have Iran defeated soon. They'll be defeated very soon [applause] and then I guess it'll be even better.

[00:06:47]But you know, even during this it's been it's been amazing. I mean to think so I call it a military operation, but I call it whatever you want. It's uh incredible. It's like it hasn't made a dent. A lot of people thought oil would go up to $350 a barrel and it's Today it's at $79 a couple of days ago. It was at 68. It went up a little bit because I had to take tough action because they did not uh obey what they're supposed to obey. I mean, they just didn't do it.

[00:07:19]So, we took a little action, but it'll all when that settles down, you'll be I think you're going to have $55 oil, which is all great for what you're doing. Maybe less than that. There have been reports of a rumored rift between [music] Trump and Netanyahu over the war. According to an Axios report, the US [music] president was upset over the Israeli prime minister criticizing Washington's move to sell [music] F-35 fighter jets to Turkey. What happens when America's closest Middle East ally suddenly finds itself on the wrong side of Donald Trump? Fresh [music] reports are once again drawing attention to the relationship between US President Donald Trump [music] and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

[00:08:02]According to reports, speculation over a possible rift between the two leaders has intensified in recent days, raising questions about the future of one of Washington's closest partnerships in the Middle East. According to an Axios report, Netanyahu's criticism of Washington announcing the sale of F-35 fighter jets to Turkey has not gone down well with the Trump administration. A White House official claimed that Trump was pissed with Netanyahu over the interview. Another official told Axios that Trump felt BBE had no right to weigh in on the issue. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly cancelled his planned visit to the United States next week after the White House did not accommodate his request for a meeting with US President Donald Trump. According to Axios, it remains unclear whether Netanyahu received a direct rejection. However, the report says his office did not receive a positive response from the Trump administration regarding the proposed meeting, prompting the decision to cancel the trip. [music] In an interview to Fox News, Netanyahu said, and I quote, "For a regime infected by the Muslim Brotherhood, an extreme movement that hates America and chance death to America. From that side of the spectrum, I don't think they should be given F-35s or the engines for their fighter jets. Turkey is governed by a man who calls openly for the annihilation of Israel," he warned. He's threatening Greece, another NATO country, and he talks openly about conquering Jerusalem. During his visit to Anara, Trump had announced that Washington was considering selling F-35 fighter jets to Turkey despite a ban against such sales that the US president had imposed himself.

[00:09:55]We have a very good relationship. I would think that many people I can tell you many people including the people sitting right here thinks you know why wouldn't we do that we have a better relationship with Turkey and Turkeyy's been in many ways much more loyal than other countries that we think would be loyal so something certainly we would consider it's a great plane it's the best currently the best plane by far and uh it's certainly something we will consider >> I want to especially ly mention how important this visit is by Trump. The fact that the NATO leader summit is being held in Ankara today, that all the leaders are currently gathered in our country and that it will be with my dear friend Mr. Trump tomorrow will give us added strength. We are striving to place Iran US relations on a constructive footing. Both I and my colleagues are working together to take a step toward world peace by doing everything within our power. By talking with my dear friend, we attach very very great importance to this leader summit especially in order to ensure peace in this Middle East region and we interpret it favorably that a decision may come out of this leader summit and I think there is a possibility that this can happen. We have received a commitment for five F-35s.

[00:11:27]Mr. Trump also has a separate promise to us on this matter. Now, in the meetings we will hold at this leader summit, I know that we are testing in a positive way with a view to the future the promise we received from them regarding the F35s on this matter as well. Mr. Trump always stands by his word. However, a day later, Trump told reporters he had not made up his mind on selling F-35 fighter jets to Anchora.

[00:11:57]>> And they're talking about the F-35 airplane and it's the best plane and everybody wants it and we have to make a decision who we give it to. I mean, my inclination cuz he again, he stayed out of he's not a huge fan of BB and he's not a huge fan of Israel, but he stayed out of that war. He could have gone into that war very easily and he didn't at my request he stayed out of that war. He's been a very good ally. I mean Marco could tell you we have a very strong relationship with Turkey. You know it's a very big country. It's a very powerful militarily it's a very it's the second most powerful country in NATO. It's a NATO country. So whether or not we uh do that I haven't totally made up my mind.

[00:12:40]My inclination is to say, look, he's done everything we he's helped us in so many different ways. And you know who else has been good to us? China. China never came into the war. They get 50% of their oil from Haru Strait. They never came into the war. They never said, "I'm going to send a ship in five destroyers along each side of the ship." They never did. No, he was. He's been President Xi has been great. Everyone's been sort of great to be honest. You know why?

[00:13:09]because they respect our country again.

[00:13:12]They laughed at our country. They thought we were a bunch of fools. They saw a president that couldn't talk. He couldn't walk. It was a disaster. They lost respect for our country. But now they have more respect for our country than they've ever had before. Thank you all very much.
