Political [music] prisoners, students, priests, intellectuals were forced to publicly confess their deepest beliefs and then attack them. Every friendship was weaponized. But the truly diabolical part was this: the men who broke the fastest became the most vicious torturers [music] of the next group. The program fed itself. Victims became instruments.
