Animal testing in drug development is often non-predictive and fails to accurately represent how drugs will work in humans, creating a costly 'valley of death' where companies spend millions on ineffective research while regulatory bodies like the FDA still require animal models despite recent legislative changes allowing human testing as an alternative.

Animal Testing Is a $15M Mistake. Here's Why.
Added:Not only is this like really unsavory and cruel to animals that are just bred to be, you know, put through, you know, the horrors of of technology that really don't give us meaning. These are non-predictive models. They tell us something, but they really don't tell us how a drug will work in humans. And so, for instance, the regulatory bodies have historically, and they're changing now, they are changing now, by the way, Biden in 2022 signed into law in the United States that you no longer needed animal models to represent human drugs. That was only recently this year recognized by the US FDA, but they still don't have a clear path. If you go to them, they'll still tell you to do $15 million of non-predictive animal research. This is a waste of time. It's called the valley of death. It's where most companies go broke because they treat so they're trying to raise money just to treat animals, and investors are not interested in you in that stage. We think humans are the better model. We think there are enough people who really need access to these treatments, and we think that those people deserve the right to get access to those treatments, and we believe that the governments should be paying for their access to new and innovative treatments.
