Simple engine maintenance no one does PCV valve

One, two, three, four big LEDs recessed in the ceiling. And then we're I don't know if I'm pretty sure we're taking that out. And then we're going to put another light strip on the bottom there just to brighten it up.

[00:00:46]I don't know if the PCV valve has been ever been done. I'm going to tell you I'm going to do a list of the most neglected stupid things people can do to their vehicle. And one is the PCV valve.

[00:00:57]Two is the air filter. Three is the throttle body. Four is the fuel injection. Five is overextended oil changes. And I not not putting them in in order of importance, but it must be just my area because vehicles are so neglected. And it is it because they're not getting a good quality level of service at the dealership and in the base or or techs just don't care. Change the oil, send it out. They don't care if there was oil in it or if it comes back with oil in it. I don't know. Um, so let's do this PCV valve. I'm going to set you guys up on the tripod and uh try and get you some content here.

Um, like I said, this is a newer customer to us. You also have to plug the tire. So, I'm gonna see if I can't get you guys like right down in in it.

[00:02:50]And then Thursday last week, we were doing hump bearings on a Civic press in style and Jude presses the whole thing together and the rotor doesn't fit the machine flange. How about that? It's just basically everyday nonsense here.

[00:03:08]So, this is the hose that runs up to the intake. It looks like this is serviceable, too. I'm wondering why it has that type of platform in there. I've never taken that apart, but I would tell you there's probably ports that go into the in Look at this.

But if it's shitty and disgusting, yeah, just replace it. Um some of them are just a weighted ball and then some of them also have a spring that wear too. So, heed a little warning to that.

[00:04:53]I don't know what's going on in my area, but it is slow as molasses.

[00:04:59]It started last week and uh it showed up here on Monday. And Mondays are never like this. Mondays are usually very busy.

[00:07:04]I don't know what it is, but by no means is this ripping a customer off saying, "Hey, your PCV valve should be replaced every 30,000 mi." I'm going to tell you, this PCV valve has every bit of 227,000 mi on it.

[00:07:56]So, I'm going to tell you, almost every vehicle that I see that comes in here that's a new customer is in really bad shape and the maintenance isn't done.

[00:08:23]And I don't know why he was telling us the nonsense about some tensioner bracket on his car that we never worked on.

[00:08:35]The same customer's car that's right besides his car that's not in good shape. He's like, "Oh, yeah. I wouldn't buy those parts. They're they're defective. Oh, there's a lot of defective parts on your car right now.

[00:11:24]What I will do is see if there's a pull a vacuum in this manifold on the top of the intake. I'm going to say there's probably some type of pull on it.

[00:11:51]So when the PCV valve sticks open or sticks close, it wreaks havoc on the entire engine.

[00:11:59]Most people don't know that it's actually in some of these newer vehicles that it blows out their rear main seals. And guess who's not standing behind that at the dealerships? the manufacturers, you know whose fault it is? Because they don't advise changing the PCV valve. So, the the consumers who have these newer cars and say, "Oh, yeah. Well, your PCV valve stuck or got clogged and it blew out your rear main seal. Well, why didn't you advise me? I've been coming here and getting my service done uh with you guys." And uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh you get the uh stutters. So, what I'm going to do is just going to put this in here just to start it.

[00:12:56]So, what I'm going to bet you, so there is a vacuum pull on it, and this is a calibrated vacuum leak. That's what a PCV valve really is.

[00:13:09]Calibrated vacuum leak into the intake manifold. for emissions purposes and also uh relieve pressure in the crank case.

[00:13:19]So based on what I found there, I'm going to tell you the throttle body is probably skked and I'll advise the customer that hey I have an evasive way of doing the throttle body. Um that's it. It's just a simple maintenance that people aren't doing or aren't being advised. Every PCV valve we pulled apart has been destroyed.
