>> I was passionate about merchant navy. So I was preparing for this GME.

Okay. So can you tell us something about why there was a need to join this profession? Ma'am uh because uh in my college days my cousin told me that about this profession and uh when I known about this profession I was interested and my it matches my uh qualities and this so I choose this profession as my career ma'am.
>> Okay. Who told you about this?
>> My cousin is in machinery ma'am. He told me about this.
>> Your cousin is in merinary which company?
>> He is in Tom Pangers ma'am.
>> And which rank?
>> As a chief officer.
>> Chief officer. Can you tell us the duties of chief officer?
>> Ma'am, chief officer uh chief officer should assign the duties to the uh junior crew members inside the uh engine uh ship and he should navigate the uh he has the uh job to navigate the ship and he should give the proper uh duties to the crew members and he should give the uh proper notes to the uh captain as well and uh that are all the chief engineers. Okay, that's great. So, Sarn why should we select your hire?
>> Ma'am, uh I have strong communication skills and I have strong leadership skills within me and uh I can solve any problems quickly and uh I I am from uh I am passionate about this uh profession or career. So, >> are you a good team player or team leader?
>> Yeah, ma'am. Uh I am a uh good team leader and team uh workers because uh >> you're a team member good member also and leader also leader also ma'am.
>> Can you give me any example where you lead a team?
>> Yeah ma'am in my college days I was in I was the project head so I used to work as a leader in that team.
>> So how did you manage your team at that moment? Yeah ma'am I used to give the proper duties to everyone and uh I rectified every problems with them and uh I >> okay what are the jobs and duties of TME >> ma'am the first jobs and duties of TME is to ensure a safety uh then safety comes first in on board ship and he should know about all the safety equipments inside the ship and he must know about the master station inside the ship he he should know about the escape doors and the life life boards, life boys and all the things inside the ship.
And he must know the manuals about the manuals. He should read the manuals of different missionaries inside the ship.
And he should keep the engine room clean and he should obey the uh officers inside officers and engineers with the higher senior officers and engineers ma'am should >> that's good. What do you understand by safety on ship? Ma'am safety safety is the main important thing inside the ship. That means we should wear the PP kits. Uh there are so many fire extinguishers inside the ship like uh CO2 dry chemical powder etc. And uh we should know about we should wear all the safety equipments like gloves, goals, boots, um earplugs etc ma'am and that are the safety for me.
>> Okay sir. Sir [snorts] tell me about uh key what are the different machinery used in engine room on >> sir different machineries we use in engine room are freshwater generator and uh boilers refrigeration systems and uh uh incinerator oily water separator and and >> what do you mean by the oily water separator? So oily water separator is a device where when the uh there are so many uh uh engines working inside the engine room, it will produce oils inside the engine room. So this oils oils need to be separated by this oil water separator.
>> Why need to separate this oil from the water? Sir if we as per annex one and four the oil we oil should not be discharged into the sea by that that thing itself because we uh because uh it is as per the regulation as per marold mar pollution we can't discharge the uh oil into >> in which principle it works >> sir oily water separator works on the principle of uh stocks equation and collisioning filter mechanism equations.
What do you mean by the collision filter?
>> Sir, uh collisioning filter mechanism means the small small particles combined to form bigger particles s and what do you mean by the 15 ppm?
>> Sir, 15 ppm means 15 parts per million.
That means uh that is 15 in a 15 lakhs of water droplets there is a 15 drops of oil droplets.
>> Okay. Now tell me about what is stock's law. So stocklo stock law means the separation force separation of fluid uh which is directly proportional to the uh density uh velocity and uh uh viscosity sir. H now tell me about that key what is sea w treat treatment plant >> sir sea w treat treatment plant is a device uh sea w treatment plant is a device which we need to treat the sea w properly in on board ship we can't discharge the sea wage into the sea uh that itself so we need to treat it as per the uh pollution itself >> explain what is the purpose of the aration tank which is used in seawway treatment plant >> sir aation tank that is aation tanks consist of two uh two uh two process will takes place that is aerobic process and anorobic process. In aerobic process the oxygen it with with the oxygen it will take place and an anorobic proc process without oxygen it takes place.
We can only use aerobic process because if we use anorobic process inside ship means it will produce hydrogen sulfate gas inside this inside uh uh ship. So it is uh harmful for the environment sir.
>> Okay. Tell me about uh in which principle freshwater generator works.
Sir freshwater generator works on the principle of ventury principle and ventury principle. Uh we know that.
>> Are you sure? Fresh water generator works on a ventury.
>> Uh fresh water. Yes sir. Fresh water works on a ventury principle.
>> What about the distillation process?
>> Oh uh yes sir forgot sir. Distillation process sir. It is a combination of evaporation and condensation sir. I I was not able to recall that sir.
>> Okay. Tell me about that key. What are the ancillary component used in a refrigeration system?
>> Sir, oxillary components used in refrigeration systems are oil oil separator and purge wall, relief wall and unloader, solenoid wall, sensible bulb, back pressure wall and uh >> what is the purpose of the back pressure wall?
>> Sir, back pressure wall is a device which is used to prevent the back flow of pressure into the non room sir.
>> H okay. And tell me about where is it located in a refrigeration system?
>> Uh sir refrigeration system it is located in uh uh after the theatic expansion valve sir and uh before compressor.
>> Okay tell me about that key. What is the purpose of the theatic switch? So thermostatic switch acts as a on or off which is electrically connected to the solenoid wall which either allows the uh liquid refrigerant to into flow into the thermostatic wall or uh prevents the flow of liquid refrigerant.
>> Explain what is the surface tension.
>> Surface tension means when the force acting on the uh force acting on the free surface of the liquid it act as a structured elastic membrane which tends to minimize the area of the uh fluid s.
>> Okay. Tell me one more thing. Why relief wall not used as a boiler mounting?
>> Sir, relief wall is not used as boiler mounting because relief wall has some disadvantages like chattering effect and wire droning effect.
>> What is chattering effect >> sir? Chattering effect means rapid opening and closing of the valve which produces hammer-l like uh uh hammer-l like noises and also >> okay and what is the wired drawing effect? Surving effect means also this s like uh the valve will open 100%age of or 100% closed like it will produce some we into that due to that the metal to metal contact will produce some we so it will affect the particles inside it.
>> Explain heat treatment process >> sir heat treatment process is a rapid open rapid uh heating and cooling of the material is called heat treatment process sir.
>> Okay. What are the different different heat treatment process >> sir? There are different process like normalizing, annealing, tampering, carborizing, caning.
>> What do you mean by ostanite material?
>> Oinite material means the mixture of carbon and nitrogen is called oxyate material.
>> And what is a utopid? Hyperouttoid.
>> Sir hyperto means when we come to that 0.8 to 2% we call it as hyperto and two uh no sir 0 to 0.8%age is called hyperto and 0.8 to2% is called hyperut. What is the difference between cooling and refrigeration?
>> Sir, cooling is a natural occuring process and uh refrigeration is a non-natural occuring process. We need need an external agency to cool the maintain the low temperature. We use refrigeration.
>> And tell me about what is the difference between stiffness or strength.
>> So strength the ability of the material to withstand deformation is called strength sir. ability of the uh material to withstand deformation without failure is called the stiffness.
>> Okay. And tell me about difference between hardness and toughness.
>> Sir, hardness means the indentation happen in a body is called a hardness sir. Toughness means the the when the ability of the body to absorb energy and deform plastic is called toughness.
>> Okay. Now tell me about difference between isobaric or isocoric process.
Sir, isobaric process is a process in isobaric process thermodynamic process in which the pressure is constant and uh isocoric process is a thermodynamic process in which the volume is constant.
Sir, >> good. Now tell me about that key. What is the gaseous laws >> sir? Uh the gaseous laws are the relationship between the temperature, volume and pressure. Sir, the gaseous laws are three types that is boil, char and galos flow. The >> what do you mean by the Charles law?
Charge law means it it is a thermodynamic gaseous law in which it follows isobaric process in which the pressure is constant and the temperature is directly proportional to the volume.
>> Good. Now tell me about that key. What is the incinerator >> sir? Incinerator is a device which is used in shin to burn out the oily rages and oily clogs inside the ship sir.
>> Okay. Tell me about that key. What is the difference between autocycle and diesel cycle?
>> Autocle and diesel cycle. Auto cycle uh the uh the heat addition takes plus takes place at constant volume. In diesel cycle the heat addition takes place in constant pressure.
>> What are the integrated component of four stroke diesel engine?
>> So fourstroke four-stroke diesel engine there are cylinder head, cylinder head bolt, cylinder head gasket and uh inlet valve exhaust wall and indicator coke starting valve.
>> What is the purpose of the indicator c?
>> Sir indicator coke uh purpose is to blow through the engine to remove the moisture. Before starting we need to uh remove the moisture and oil and the gases inside the engine. We need to blow through the engine. So we use the blow uh this uh indicator.
>> What is the purpose of air starting valve?
>> Sir air starting valve at the starting itself we can't uh we want to give a high pressure air inside the uh engine.
So we give we use an air starting valve to blow a high pressure air inside the system. that is 9 bar air into auxiliary engine and 30 bar air into uh main engine.
>> Okay. What is air bottle?
>> Sir, air bottle is a device which we use to store the compressed air inside the uh system.
>> Okay. And what is air vessel?
>> Sir, air vessel is a device which we use to give a continuous flow inside the pump that which uses compressed air to flow the uh flow the water through uh the delivery pipes.
uh classified the pumps.
>> Sir pumps are classified into two different types types that is rotodnamic pumps and positive displacement pump. In rodnamic pump there is low head, medium head and high head. That is low head is axial flow type centrifugal pump and um um medium head is uh mixed flow centrifugal pump and uh high head is uh radial for flow centric centrifal pump.
And also the posible displacement pump are classed into two types that is reciprocating and rotary. And in reciprocating pump there is plunger pump, diaphragm pump and piston pump.
And in rotary pump it comes to the piston pump, vein pump, screw pump.
>> Okay. Tell me about the what is the purpose of PJ wallal.
>> Sir, pal is pal is a device which is used to remove the excess air inside the system. Sir, >> explain thermosiphon principle. Sir thermosiphon principle means when the uh when the particles move uh when the particles move upward due to the density difference we state it as a thermosiphon principle.
>> And what is the natural circulation boiler?
>> So natural circulation boiler means we don't need any external external things to circulate the uh steam from one place to another. We use it as naturally which is safe safe and efficient for the ship operation. We use natural circulation sir.
>> What was your final year project >> sir? My final process proc project is about the handicapped accessible vehicle which is like a combat car. We used to uh we used to give the use usefulness for the disabled persons like it is it works on the pneumatic principle and I was in the fabrication team and uh it was like homeback car which we give as a cheaper and efficient way to use for the disabled persons.
>> Okay.
You have improved a lot from the past experience that we have had right.
>> So one thing I would suggest you when you come and ask may I have a seat not can I. Why? Because can is little informal and may is a polite and formal way to say that.
>> Could I may I is better.
>> Can doesn't work in the formal situation. So we'll say may I have a seat or may I sit down? Something like that. Okay. So can you will not use. You not have to be nervous in life.
>> Okay. You have even if you're thinking okay I will I will stop at this moment I'm not getting anything. Still speak.
>> Yes sir.
>> Okay. Why? Because this can be a little challenge for other people out there. It could be a challenge for you as well.

>> Another thing is that in the tech part in the non- tech part the fillers were very less >> very good. We have worked on the filler part. However, when you go to the technical part, the fillers were very much there. Ah ah very frequent. So when you thinking I'm not able to get the words shut your mouth. Pause it. Take them out. Okay. Close your mouth and then speak. It's much better because this your answer is not the person is concentrating on the fillers and it sounds very disturbing at the end. So you have to work on the technical part and the filler portion. Okay. less to will tell you but that portion you have to work on how you speak because speaking is really important in life right so and the other thing is machinery no missionary m the stress is on the she machinery you said missionary whenever you are doing about the dut person you're telling he told me about merchant navy or he is in merchant navy you should always know his roles and duties and you knew it you should also know it by heart it should be clear So overall it was very good Shah you have improved very good >> as ma'am told UK it is good but first of all your eye contact >> yes you maintain your eye contact understood technical part is good but sometime you skip the concept yes like a freshwater generator yes what is the freshwater generator you know very well but you skip the in which principle it works so it is very important yes or no don't deliver the wrong thing >> if If you don't know about that sir, I don't know.
