Building a hidden underground shelter beneath a home involves a systematic construction process that includes foundation excavation with steel reinforcement, ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) wall installation, concrete pouring for basement walls, waterproofing with membranes and drainage systems, basement floor preparation with vapor barriers and radiant heating, structural framing with engineered wood joists, roof construction with metal panels, and exterior finishing with stone veneer, all requiring careful planning, engineering, and craftsmanship to create a strong, practical, and comfortable hidden space.

Man Spends Months Building a Hidden Underground Shelter Beneath His Home | by@Wolfpupfab
Added:Building a house is a long and challenging journey. [music] In this video, we'll review the entire construction process from laying the foundation [music] and building the structure to the final finishing touches. Let's see [music] how this impressive home comes to life.
The basement excavation [music] begins with steel beams reinforcing the house.
A large excavator and [music] a compact mini excavator remove soil beneath the foundation, creating space while steel supports keep the house stable for the next construction phase.
[music] >> [music] [music] >> The crew installed the formwork system, backfilled and leveled the ground, compacted the base, and positioned the drainage system and reinforcing steel before pouring the concrete. Concrete was then transported by [music] a skid steer to each location beneath the house and poured into the foundation [music] footing system.

With the concrete footing complete, the crew installed the CF foundation walls.
The ICF [music] blocks were carefully aligned with the layout lines, tied together with reinforcing steel, and securely fixed to the concrete footing.
Bracing, [music] work platforms, and door frames were then installed to stabilize the structure before the concrete was poured, forming strong and durable basement walls.
>> [music] [snorts] >> The crew used a hydraulic lifting system, shoring towers, and wooden cribbing blocks to gradually raise the house while securing the structure. with ratchet straps to maintain its position.
Once enough space was created beneath the floor, the ICF wall section was installed. Reinforcing steel was added and the structure was prepared for the concrete pour into the foundation walls.
The ICF foundation wall concrete pour was carried out with all support systems in place. Concrete was pumped in layers around the walls and compacted to fill every gap inside, creating strong and durable basement walls.
The house was lowered onto the CF foundation using shoring towers and hydraulic jacks. Positioning holes were drilled in the wooden pieces and sill plates placed on the CF foundation wall to align with the anchor bolts and the structure was lowered into position.
Temporary supports were removed completing the connection between the existing house and the new basement foundation.
The basement foundation was waterproofed and protected before backfilling. The area around the foundation was cleared.
Loose soil was removed and a gravel base was added. The ICF walls were sealed, coated with primer, and covered with a waterproof membrane. An additional drainage system was installed around the foundation combined with drainage gravel and protective panels before the back fill process.
The basement floor area was filled and graded with a crushed stone base and washed gravel to create proper underground drainage.
A floor drain system [music] was installed and leveled using a laser to ensure effective water flow.
Permanent steel beams and support columns were also installed, replacing the temporary supports and creating a stable structure for the basement before the concrete floor is poured.
[music] >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] [music] The basement floor was prepared with a vapor barrier membrane covering the entire surface with sealed joints [music] to prevent moisture from rising through the ground. 2-in insulation panels were installed to create a stable thermal layer for the concrete floor. The PEX radiant heating pipes were [music] arranged on top of the insulation combined with reinforcing wire mesh preparing the basement for the concrete slab pour.
[music] >> [music] >> Heat. Heat.
>> [music] >> All right, I think I'm ready for concrete.
The engineered wood floor joists [music] were installed on the ICF foundation walls with blocking added for extra rigidity and an opening left for the future basement staircase. Subfloor panels were secured to the joists. While the area around the foundations was backfilled and graded, creating a strong floor structure and stabilizing the building site.

The basement floor was poured over the prepared vapor barrier, PEX radiant [music] heating system, and reinforcing mesh. The concrete was pumped into place, leveled to the designed elevation, and finished with a power tel, creating a smooth and durable [music] basement floor. Heat.

The wood-framed walls were assembled on the floor and sheathed with zip system panels for added strength and moisture protection. Each wall section was lifted into place, secured to the foundation, and connected to the ceiling joists. The project then continued with the upper floor framing, completing the main structural frame of the house.

The ridge beam was installed and precisely aligned using a laser level before being secured to the support columns. The roof rafters were installed, reinforced with blocking and adjusted to create a strong roof structure. The dormer and secondary roof framing were also installed, completing the main roof framework of the house.
I don't know.
Hey, hey, hey.
The roof structure continued to take shape as zip system panels were cut to eyes and installed across the entire rafter [music] framework. Each panel was carefully aligned and securely fastened, creating a durable, moisture resistant roof deck. The dormer [music] framing was also erected and fully sheathed, completing the overall roof profile.
A concrete retaining wall was built in front of the house to stabilize the ground and create a new level area.
Foundation excavation, gravel compaction, and drainage installation were completed before the concrete blocks were stacked layer by layer [music] with gravel backfilled to improve drainage. The surrounding area was then graded, covered with top soil, and seated with grass to [music] complete the landscape.
>> [panting] >> The chimney system was built on a solid concrete base with a wood-frame structure extending from the basement to the roof. The exterior was sheathed with zip system panels to improve structural rigidity while providing moisture and weather protection, creating a durable enclosure for the insulated chimney system.
>> [snorts] >> Heat. Heat.
[music] >> [music] [music] [music] >> The roof overhang was constructed with a wood-framed system integrated into the main roof, creating a strong and continuous structure. Zip system panels were installed across the entire surface with waterproof ceiling and ventilation openings to improve insulation and protect the building.
The roof was covered with a waterproof membrane and two layers of polyo insulation to improve weather protection and thermal performance.
A wood batten system was installed to support the roofing panels and create a continuous ventilation gap before the standing seam metal panels were secured using a concealed fastener system.
[music] The roof valleys and ridge components were installed to create a watertight, wellventilated and durable roofing system.
Is it? Is it? [snorts] Hey, heat. Hey.
The building enclosure progressed with the installation of the windows, entry door, and garage doors. The frames were securely fastened and sealed with spray foam insulation to improve airtightness and thermal [music] performance, while the unfinished window openings were temporarily covered with insulation panels, leaving the house ready for the next stage of construction.

The large glass windows were installed with the frames carefully aligned. and securely connected to the wall structure. The gaps around the frames were sealed with spray foam insulation to reduce heat loss, prevent water intrusion, and improve protection for the interior space.
>> [music] [music] >> the roof overhang areas. were equipped with recessed LED lights along with a completed electrical wiring system and set [music] panels. The smart lighting system allows Wi-Fi control, flexible color changes, and adds a distinctive touch to the exterior design of the house.
The foundation walls were finished with manufactured stone veneer after completing the drainage layer, metal lath and scratch coat. The stone veneer was carefully installed and grouted while maintaining a ventilation and drainage cavity behind the cladding, providing a durable, moisture resistant and visually appealing exterior finish.

After months [music] of hard work, from the first foundation step, steps to the final finishing details. This dream home has become a reality. Not just a building, but a true achievement built through perseverance, dedication, and countless hours of effort.
