Akhilesh Yadav Alleges BJP-Congress 'Understanding' Amid NEET Parliament Row

[00:00:00]The developments from inside Parliament where the government has said that they're ready for a debate, but there was fair amount of ruckus where the opposition has said that we weren't given an opportunity to speak and that's the reason why we also saw the lower house get adjourned up until 2:00 p.m.

[00:00:15]In fact, you heard from the speaker a few moments ago who said that I can't be [music] really intervening when it comes to your personal differences. That's what he said and that's the reason why the house has been adjourned. I'm going to get in my colleague Piyush here.

[00:00:27]Piyush, just for an overview, what really happened and what's the opposition's contention? The government says, "We're ready for a debate on this one."

[00:00:41]>> Shreya, at one side government is saying that it is very much ready to have a discussion on the NEET paper leak issue.

[00:00:48]On the other side, Akhilesh Yadav is now doing what Aam Aadmi Party was saying yesterday. You would remember that Aam Aadmi Party leaders had come up with a statement saying that there is some sort of political debate between BJP and Congress and the similar sort of lines are now coming from Akhilesh Yadav. When he was given the chance to speak, he said that "Aap logon ne kya koi samjhauta kar liya?

[00:01:11]Which means K.C. Venugopal or aap logon ko bulwa diya? Which means clearly did you do? Aap logon ne koi samjhauta kar liya kya? Is there a some sort of agreement having decided between both of you between BJP and Congress?" That's what Akhilesh was asking from the Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla. Soon after that, the Lok Sabha speaker made it very, very clear that we that the government is very much ready to have a discussion. We all must sit together and have a discussion on this. And Om Birla also stated that I am not sitting here. I'm not going to intervene between the differences between you people, which means differences in the opposition. So, now one thing is clear that government at one side is ready to have a discussion. On the other side, opposition seems to be completely divided. Aam Aadmi Party yesterday attacked Congress. Today, Akhilesh Yadav is now asking questions from Congress asking is there any agreement signed between BJP and Congress? Now it remains to be seen how the Congress is going to react on this.

[00:02:07]Interestingly, you know, many MPs of India Alliance today are seen wearing black and they are now demanding that government the government must have ensured that the government resigns and then only they will be then they will be taking part in this session. That was also resonated when the house resumed today. Government now making it very very clear that I think in the in the last few days it has been offering cooperation to have a discussion on this entire point on the entire issue. But opposition is not letting the house to function. And similar sort of scenes were once again played out in Lok Sabha where at one side when Akhilesh Yadav was making an offer to opposition to you know, let the house function smoothly and government will respond. On the other side opposition MPs continued to raise slogans and continued to demand the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. So Congress has now made up its mind that it wants resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan and then only house will function. Akhilesh is raising the issue of brutality on students who are taking part in protest.

[00:03:14]So there are two different concerns now coming in from the opposition. Congress is for the Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. Akhilesh Yadav is raising the voice of students who were you know, allegedly who allegedly faced brutality at the part of police while they were marching towards the parliament. Now it remains to be seen how the house will come into order. But as we are speaking house is not in order. That's why Lok Sabha had to be adjourned till 2:00 p.m.

[00:03:41]>> Right. You know, Piyush also the fact is that here the opposition is also you know, strengthened in a way it's it's demand really given the kind of sentiment that is being seen on the ground to demand the resignation of the education minister. Now, this demand was always there on the part of the opposition, particularly the Congress, but here they do sense the the the emotions really on the ground, which is only building against the government saying that you are adamant, you aren't really listening to the voices of the people, particularly students. Many of them have died by suicide who, you know, took their lives, were desperate, but there is zero accountability on the part of this government.

[00:04:24]>> Well, now the government is making it clear, Sneh, that they are ready for discussion. They have opened all their doors. They have now giving offers to BJP representatives also. We saw [music] how you came to the Jitin Singh and the Jitin Singh told him that our government in a few days will bring reforms in educational system and will ensure that no such incident of paper leak further happens. Government is also saying that they will discuss this entire matter in parliament. And that is that assurance was also given by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi.

[00:04:57]But as far as the Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation is concerned, on that part, sources within the government have told us that this is nothing but a political demand. That's why Rahul Gandhi yesterday went to the residence of PM Narendra Modi and he was seen overlooking the security protocols along with Congress MPs and continued to protest. So, the government feels that yes, we have taken appropriate actions that were required after the leak paper leak. Uh 13 people were sent to jail. The government is also looking forward to strengthen the laws so that such incidents do not happen. In fact, PM Narendra Modi yesterday in in NDA parliamentary party meet had called the NEET paper leak a gross offense. That's the line which the BJP leaders are also taking. So, the government is saying that they have taken all the required actions.

[00:05:46]>> [music] >> It's now time for a whole show to come on the floor of the house and have a discussion. We will respond to all the concerns of opposition. As far as the model resignation is concerned, that is a complete political demand. That's what government feels.

[00:05:59]>> Well, it's a political demand, but it's being made by students who've been affected, isn't it, that's the fact. As far as the Lok Sabha proceedings are concerned, talk to us about what has happened here. As far as the stand-off is concerned, the government says we're ready to discuss [music] this. We're ready for a debate. Initially, they weren't even discussing it.

[00:06:16]Given that the house has been, you know, in a way not functioning, there is zero work that is being done as [music] far as legislative business is concerned.

[00:06:24]So, what's really happening behind the scenes? Take us through that as well.

[00:06:29]>> Well, today is third day of monsoon session. Government in all party meeting had highlighted that it wants to bring few legislations which include the Supreme Court number of judges amendment bill, Vande Mataram bill, FCRA education bill. There are various bills which the government had discussed. It had also informed the all political parties. But, the day when monsoon session convened, we saw massive protesting this march started from the Jantar Mantar. It came to the the the central government also. After that, on the second day, yesterday Rahul Gandhi was still sitting on the protest.

[00:07:06]And today, while Congress was protesting, various other MPs were protesting, the government was strategizing. Union ministers of Modi government including two JP Nadda, Arjun Ram Meghwal, various other they were strategizing.
