Australia’s “Best” Aboriginal Mission?
Added:I'm stinking, bro. I'm stinking. But you know what? Last night I went out to Husken Hotel. Just have a little look around the local spottier. And I met one of young brothers. He goes, "Bra, you do the videos. We out of yarn." And had a yarn with some of the boys there. He goes, he said, "Bra, tomorrow go out to the mission. Go out to the mission." He said it's one of the best in Australia.
So I'm going put him to the test, see if he's biased or not. I've heard it's mad out here because it's right on the water. So, what I'm going to do, I'm going to cruise out here, have a yarn, and see who's around, what's happening.
We'll sus it out. We'll sus it out. All whitey.
All whitey. Then we're here. I'm outside the learning center. It's pretty freaky here, bro. Because I haven't been to like the mission that my family from.
It's all No one lives there, you know. I mean, it's all burial. It's all um it's all gone here. full-blown new houses and that or like pretty nice looking houses.
I don't want to like be cruising around and walk up anyone's driveway and be recording without permission. You know what I mean? This is special area to these people. I'm sure people wouldn't give a I do. But everyone must be inside sleeping or something because no one's outside here. So I can have a yarn with them and see what's cracking. Oh, bundas laying there.
That's man.
I want to go down here. I spin around this roundabout. Pay phone there.
dee cruise down here.
I've not seen a kangaroo bund for a little while cuz I live in Wulingong.
That's mad. It's kicking back doing that thing. I love them animals. All right, now we're cruising. But some of these houses are really flash.
What a mission. All the streets all black names too.
Wan if I'm saying it properly in their language.
What's up there?
But this is like half weird that there's so many cars and flashy houses here.
Strange.
Freaky spotty.
Boom brothers.
>> How are you?
>> What's this? Is all private, eh? This all private, eh?
>> All private. Yeah.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Mate, I met one of the brothers down at the hotel yesterday. He said, "Come through here and have a look." Who's that?
>> I don't remember his name. He's young fellow. There was three of them.
I don't know if he's from here or he said he goes come down here have a look.
He said it's the best mission in Australia. I said right. I'll come have a look then.
>> How you going brother?
>> Good bro.
>> Yeah.
>> Jason pulled up met some of the locals here said let's go squiding.
But I don't even know how to fish let alone squid. We'll see this where we're at.
Look at this here.
Kangaroo gonna everywhere. It's good to see freaky down here. But how special is this for mission? I just I said to the brothers, two brothers there, I said, "This is freaking me out because the mission that as I was saying, the mission that I come from or that my people come from, it's all gone. It's just a there's nothing out there." But he said, "No, bar, we look after we look after this here." He's telling me that this as well is act. It's not New South Wales. Was New South Wales 2 minutes ago. and I'll put up a map of where we're at. So, for this to be ACT, it's a spin out. And I'm sure when I talk to Ba Boy here a bit more, he'll explain it to me cuz I don't really understand chemicals called P F A.
It's freaky. I'll ask the brothers about that. Look at this part.
Some people down there. I don't know if they're locals or not. Must be a ramp down there.
My dad put this on.
I don't know all about squid and he put that um texture on there.
So you can see in the water.
>> Yeah.
Take a photo.
>> Yeah.
>> And that's too sh with me filming it, bro. Hey, >> you're right with me filming it.
>> It's up to you, man.
>> Yeah, >> that black got >> Well, I want our people I want our people to know about >> this where we were right to this where we were right to we we do a lot of burning off bush fires and [ __ ] fire brigade and that's what they were using. Yeah.
There should be something on here that [ __ ] that poison.
>> I just collect them. Yep. I might be overh might be this one. All right.
No, you know, I seen it on that other side that we were >> Oh, my face.
>> Yeah, that's what I seen. That's what I was asking for.
>> All right.
I think the blue one would >> let me look again.
So, we're looking for It says uh there's poison here from the this creek here.
No, I can't find it.
But uh this poison from this creek here from the Navy poisoned the mission.
Is that surprising?
I was speaking with the brother here.
He said he a lot of the elders passed away before before um you know he knew a lot of knowledge but he said you know he told me some stuff off camera especially about over that way.
What'd you get?
>> Hey, that's all right.
>> That's my >> We'll go up here.
This where you go, mate.
This is freaky. Hey.
Hey.
How's that for wholesome?
Not big old wholesome.
I was doing a lot for, you know, focusing on mental health for our people and I still will be, but you got to you got to look after yourself and uh I was just hyperfixating on getting as many people paid spots as I could because I want as many people to heal as possible and and our people to understand ourselves. And I still will do that. But I've just got to learn to balance things. Ainal people, we know all about balance.
And uh even our midies, you know, when it comes to our who we are, where we come from, you know, it's yin and yang.
The milerite people, we have the dilby, which is the crow. We have the Dilby and the crow.
And we have the eagle capan.
The two mues that we all descend from, all people descend from. And that's how we know who we are and uh our bloodlines and whatnot. And when I say these things, I don't speak on behalf of the law. I don't know everything. All this information is um on Google and that's why I share it.
Uh it's been published in books by you know abinal people. So I'm not not saying anything that he's you know I'm not breaking the wall. Uh but yeah, I was I feel very blessed to come down here with the bra took off on me.
Took off on me just for him to share some information and you know show me where his grandfather was initiated and uh how'd you go?
>> No good.
>> No good.
Yeah. to point out some things to me, tell me about the history that he he he knows. It's unfortunate that but it's also it's also too common all too common as well. He's a lot of black fellows having lost knowledge and you know he explained that a lot of the elders died off when he was young and you know how upsetting that is because of there's a lot of lost knowledge even about where he lives. He lived here his whole life and a lot of things that he says he doesn't know which is crazy.
But how good is this?
There we go.
Let's not talk about it. Nah, we had a good time.
and couldn't get up and I eating.
She eating. Oh, look at little bubba.
something down there.
He's looking for spin off bait. Uh for a lawyer lure.
>> Well, what do you reckon?
Lots of mission in orange. Uh [ __ ] orange, Australia.
reckoning brother was telling the truth.
I didn't say the full thing, but I'm watching salmon very close to the water.
And uh rabo is upset over there because he can't find his lure.
Biggest biggest patch over here.
Right. Watch it move. Look like looks like a big stingray.
Big gigant.
And that's that. Bro, >> are you wearing a man purse?
>> Shut the [ __ ] up.
That's called paying respect meeting the locals of cruise around and done whatever. I mean, I'm a I'm a man.
I can do what I like, but I just show respect, you know, except for the brother there that's standing there looking at me in the in the house.
See, spinning me out. Had my little day.
Didn't expect that.
Next minute, knock his fence over.
Imagine see me personally right in the real world, I'm I'm a real introvert.
Actually, I'm not an introvert.
I am I love speaking with people when I feel safe to.
And in the real world, I don't have many people around me because I feel very drained from people.
And that's what you generally call an introvert. But again, here's another theory that I didn't come up with, but I thought of it myself, but someone's already done studies on it. Wow, you should see this, bro.
I if you're constantly hypervigilant, which means you're scanning, you know, you're hyper aware of yourself. I'm also hyper aware of my behavior, how I look, how I talk. Holy dy, not hyper aware of the speed bumps.
That's very draining cuz your energy psychology like you you got so much energy going on. You know what I mean?
And that's why it's draining. But when see your mom, but when you're around people that you feel safe around, then you can kind of let your guard down. You don't have to like think as much about um what's this person thinking of me? Like can I just be myself kind of thing. So I love biggest orange biggest hole from orange eating an orange.
So I actually do love talking with people when I feel like safe within myself and even then with a brother like I still felt uncomfortable but bro who gives a who what people think of you really like he doesn't like me cool or he does like me Oh, anyway.
Yeah, that's the thing.
Normally I like in the real world and private. I don't really talk to people unless I'm in a mood. Little bit of jackal and hide happens with me.
Sometimes I'm like can't even look at people. Just proper autistic. Just like can't even look at someone in the water or something. Can't even look in their eyes. And then sometimes I'm just like, "What are you doing? There's your day.
Oh yeah, you look good. Yeah, you [ __ ] smell good. Your feet look nice.
Something weird with absolute confidence, bro.
Wish it could be like that all the time.
I guess that's why people snort cocaine.
Anyway, no up without the down.
That's Wreck Bay Mission.
You know, I didn't spend hours and hours and hours and hours and hours here, but there's a bit of history here.
And there's an air air strip here, too.
He told me when he was a kid, uh, when he was in his 20s, they his 55th birthday today.
when he was in his 20s, the airirst strip used to be the fire station or they used to do fire drills there, I'm guessing for, you know, if everything got out of hand. Yeah.
Mad little day. It's only 1:00.
Go find somewhere to wash my ass. You think I'm joking, eh?
Who taught him how to eat, bro?
Who taught him how to eat? He's a smell, too.
Who taught him how to hygiene?
