Everything’s Coming Together
Added:I don't know what's happening to me people.
I didn't have the heart to drag him out of bed this morning.
There's the stem then rafa.
Well, actually slightly different, but okay.
>> We need another saw blade for that. But carbon poisoning for Ry.
>> Yeah, >> I have put a little groove in it so that it's in the perfect spot. Then you can just off with its head.
>> All right, let's do it.
Oh, no. We cut it too far.
>> Actually, no, we didn't cuz that was calculated.
That's them.
>> I thought you were supposed to leave a bit sticking out the spacer.
>> What's that thing? It's >> what the top cap screws into.
>> Oh, I see.
Well, that reminds me. We should find that lock ring tool.
>> What's the word?
>> Top cap's not straight.
See, now it actually looks good.
Yeah.
>> This is what 20 minutes later.
>> Yeah.
>> Standing looking at it. Why? Cuz it's finally done.
It's like that's what it's always meant to be.
>> Yeah.
>> It's the thing in beauty.
>> Good boy. Now, now all you got to do is ride fast in it.
>> Yeah.
>> Well, now I actually have to do a bunch race with it.
>> Yes. Yes.
Just don't um like spread those everywhere.
>> No. No. I was just going to look at your goodies.
>> If I can enter them into the F.
>> Oh, 15 to 64.
15 to 18.
>> Boom.
All the options.
Okay. Have fun.
Now I keep mashing the sensor lights with the trailer. I think I've just got to move them off the edge of the driveway.
How was your ride?
>> Good. Good ride.
>> Um, >> you're not long back.
>> No, I was back like 15 minutes ago maybe.
Um, >> it took us >> I tried to simulate mechanics.
So, I went speedy and I normalized averaged 17 average 170.
And look at this.
Since the bike fit, we have had 50/50 left, right?
Okay. Well, skip past those two. The actual proper rides. 5149. That's better than before.
5149.
50/50.
The actual like big long one. 5050.
the race 5149.
>> Well, you still need to stretch that side and everything.
>> Yeah. So, there's big improvements made.
>> Good luck.
>> Also, I realized something cuz I was in such a rush putting together this bike.
>> What did you do?
>> No, no, no. It's not like detrimental, but you know how I told you about those noises I heard in the first kit?
>> Yes.
>> That's because the chain ring, you won't be able to see it on camera, but it'll have a slight left to right wobble currently because I instead of doing it in the correct tightness pattern, which is like you go you do one bolt and you >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> Skip skip.
>> I just went bang bang bang bang bang cuz I was just trying to get out on the track. Mhm.
And so cuz I was like cuz I was like here move pedals like oh yeah it's nice loose shaving tension it's like over here and it's like >> oh I see >> that's quite loose.
>> Yeah. Yeah. I get you.
>> And then you go a little bit more and it's like >> Uhhuh.
>> It's very tight. So I think the noises were it was like me doing big watts or big for me watts and I was like going going >> try to hold the wheel.
>> Yeah. And it would go from loose. So I like start and loose and like on the pedal stroke it would go the chain would get tighter even though I'm like still putting pressure. There's tightness here.
>> Yeah.
>> That just gets even tighter.
>> So I think that's what the noise is.
>> Okay. Interesting. So you just need to re like loosen the bolts and then talk to them.
>> Loosen the bolts and talk.
>> Interesting.
>> In the correct cab.
>> I mean, yeah. I guess it's more sensitive being a bigger chain room, too. Maybe.
>> I don't know. I don't know. But never happened on the other one. But that's cuz I probably took more care and attention to tightening the bolts on the other one.
>> Yes.
Happy scrappy. This is so cool.
>> Now I can't wait to see ex Katie.
>> Yeah, black um black beauty must be feeling pretty cool like after being the poor sibling now um being elevated in status quite significantly. like just picking up this is not a knock by the way um but just an observation is that when I picked up when I was taking taking it off to mark the top tube sorry the steer tube like just holding the bars in my hand it was like it's got some weight to it um but I guess that just comes down to the amount of carbon and aluminum that's on >> track stuff is super stiff right compared with road which is >> lighter So like not like you go over bumps in the bike, is it?
>> No. No. No. But it was just like going off memory. This feels lighter than those.
>> Obviously.
>> No.
>> It's a happy addition to the stems and handlebars box.
>> Yeah. Take the stem back to um >> Oh, yeah. Take the bike off.
cuz I wouldn't really have any use for it cuz it's that narrower.
>> I'm I'm extremely grateful that you've had that um had those bars to, you know, otherwise you'd still be on the super wide ones you had before. So >> that's true. That's true.
>> Shout out to the Northern family.
>> Yeah. Captain Jack. Captain Jack the precursor to Captain's Pratt.
I'm sure you're going to do that for like the next half an hour. So, >> yeah, shower, but that's my job for after my shower. Let's come down and fix that. I also want to test out, you might call me silly for this, but I want to put on the 59 and the 15, which is going to be the smallest amount of teeth that I can run on this bike and see if to tension the chain, it'll go past the dropouts.
Cuz if it does, then it's like, actually, it doesn't really matter because you have two other chains on order. So, what you could actually do is keep a shorter one and a long one.
>> Yeah. Yeah. But want to find out if that's needed or not.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Of course. Yeah.
>> May as well do it now rather than >> some other time cuz why not?
>> Um as in before you suddenly need to change it and realize that you need to do a new chain.
>> Exactly. Exactly.
>> Yeah. That's good thinking. I approve >> like it like at school say like if if for the TP I want to chuck on a bigger gear and it requires a smaller chain ring and a smaller sprocket and then I realize that it's going to completely fall out the back of the dropouts.
>> I I highly approve of you thinking ahead to scenarios that could come up >> and I also want to just play with my new chains. Yeah, I know you want to keep just playing with the bike full stop.
>> Now it's the essence of speed.
>> Before it was like the essence of what maybe possibly could be speed.
>> Yeah, >> now it is speed.
>> Nice.
>> But still slightly heavy speed and slightly >> not so pretty speed >> and not so stiff.
>> And not so speed.
And also one other thing that I observed, >> we'll use the new required speed as a um tool for this, >> but these pedals are not opt.
Yeah, I just suddenly realized we didn't pedals.
>> So they go side to side, which is fine.
That's what they're supposed to do.
>> Mhm.
>> They also go >> Oh. up and down, which is non upd.
Whereas if we flip into these ones, they go left and right.
They do not go up and down.
So, and then seeing as I will be getting my training bike back soon, we can just take those pedals off this bike, put them on track bike, and then it'll be sweet. So, I'll have good pedals on track, good pedals on the training bike, no pedals on the race bike, but that doesn't matter cuz I'm not going to be racing on the track bike at the same time that I'm racing on the road bike.
>> That would be a pain having to change them. But, >> but I wouldn't have to change them that much cuz it's a race bike.
>> Yeah, maybe. I mean, yeah, we'll see.
Otherwise, maybe someone will get you another pair of pedals just to sort of >> Yeah, but until then, because I'm not racing NTS in North Island on these.
>> No, exactly. Exactly.
Sounds good.
>> Northern next Friday night racing hopefully.
>> But yes, >> hey, um uh where'd you put the trolley? Oh, it's over there. Um good news.
>> It looks like we might do one more.
One more moving trip in that and we'll start to have free space again. Very >> nice. Yeah.
>> Yeah. Free space. We like >> I'm going to do free options for this.
>> It's very classy. Very classy.
>> Bye scrap.
actually boys.
a beautiful sunny day for him.
>> Sucks. I'm never doing this again.
It >> was good effort.
Was a good effort.
My watch was paused for like a bit of it. So, I didn't get my full time, which is sad, but um you know, the sport sucks.
Never doing it again. It's like so slow.
It's just a time trial for 40 minutes.
>> Not that.
>> Do you need to be carried?
>> Yes.
Hello, my son.
>> Hello.
>> I do not know how your running went this morning cuz you did not communicate with me this afternoon.
>> Well, you said you wanted to wait until the video.
Um, anyway, I don't like running.
That was not fun at all. It's like the course like the map said flat on the maps are like on like the thing the internal sheet on Google Classroom said like flat course.
It was not flat in the first K. It was already steep uphill.
Um but yes, I got excellence.
>> Oh, yay. Well done. You didn't get dropped.
>> No, >> you stayed with Teach the whole way.
>> Well, no. I actually went away from teach.
>> Oh yeah.
>> Cuz in the first K, excellent space was 4 minutes 36 per kilometer.
He like said out to the group of us that was it. He's like, "Oh yeah, that was 4 minutes 33."
I'm like, >> "It's cutting it a little bit fine, isn't it?"
I was really setting a pace for myself.
I was just going at what was comfortable and what I thought I could sustain for the rest of the case. And what was that?
>> Um I that was >> Were you not even looking at it as you went?
>> No, I wasn't.
>> You were just You just figured that if you didn't get >> I kept looking down. I was like, "Oh, yeah. It's under 436. That's under 436."
>> Oh, yeah.
>> But I wasn't fully paying attention to the perfect times.
>> So, did you end up winning?
>> No, I came third in our school squad.
>> Okay. I thought you got first in some of the training.
>> Yeah, there's a second class.
>> Oh, I see. Okay.
Like close or do you know how far or?
>> Uh, in the minutes.
>> Oh, yeah. I mean, do you have a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction from completing a running competition?
>> Yeah, I do. Good that I know that I'm excellent at running.
But it's not.
>> Yeah. Hold on. I just uploaded to Training Peaks.
>> No half marathon in your uh >> future.
So my 5k time which I got right in the middle of the effort.
um was 22 minutes 28 at exactly 4 minutes 30 per kmter.
Uh >> did you gun it for the end or did you just like >> kind of a bit uh average pace 426 perk so I was over a minute ahead of excellence time.
>> Good job lad.
Yeah.
>> Your school squad looked pretty big.
Your mom sent a photo. There was like dozen 20 kids or something.
>> Oh, yeah. More than that.
>> Really?
>> It was two classes worth. So, like 30.
>> Um, heart rate. Heart rate. Heart rate.
Yeah. Heart rate mini average 174.
for the 46 minutes or whatever it was. 45 minutes.
>> Nice.
>> You guys didn't hang around for the prize giving and spot prizes and stuff.
>> No, it's kind of my legs are dead. Beyond dead.
>> Any any like what was the team vibes like? Were they as good as the drop squad? No, it was just kind of show up, do your race, and then leave.
>> Grabbed a photo for the newsletter. But >> yeah, >> well done, young man. What was similar and different to it being a cycling race?
>> Just one really long, boring time trial.
That really hurts.
>> But with other people around, though.
>> Yeah, but it's like >> Did you try drafting? Well, I I was usually behind someone.
Um, but the thing was it's like I actually saw an Instagram reel on this.
It's like comparing cycle races to running races. And it's like it's like running races, you basically know what time you're going to do when you show up.
Whereas in bike races, you don't know what's going to happen.
And so it was just a 45minute time trial that put my calves in immense pain.
>> Yeah. I I guess maybe people who love time trials might love running as well.
Like if you're a cyclist and you liked running, you'd probably be the sort of cyclist who like time trials, right?
>> Yeah, you would be.
>> And you not one of those, are you?
>> No. And there's no like there's no like professional running thing where it's similar to like a sprinty cycle race where it's like this pace for this long and then sprint then this pace for this long and sprint.
>> Mhm.
>> So either you sprint for this long and then you go sit on the sit on the ground or you go long long long distance. So >> yeah.
Well, I think people will have good things to say about you trying out running.
Um, >> so it's four excellence credits achieved.
>> Most excellent young man.
Congratulations on being excellent.
>> Thank you.
>> Apparently, you can get a Didn't he say something about getting a credit for your bike mechanics some point?
>> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I can.
>> Like, do you have to do something specific or just in general?
>> It's like senior leadership.
And I get that for running the squad, >> right? Oh, but that's not for mechanics.
>> Uh, he it's like assisting a community of like assisting a sports community to like do sports.
>> Oh, I see. Okay, cool.
>> So, like fixing bikes means I'm assisting people to get out and get exercise. I >> I I think you do that to an excellent level except when you're Except when you're late. You have to write about it.
>> Oh, that's going to be tough. Except when you're late multiple times in a row to things.
That's not That's not very excellent.
That's unexcellent.
What did you get up to this afternoon?
>> Finished all my physics and all my chemistry and all my calculus homework.
>> Good lad, brainy boy.
>> Which means I can go downstairs and play with my track bike. No, nothing in the schedule yet. It's But I know it's going to be a taper week going up to I built. Oh, yeah. And maybe the word is maybe maybe we see Lightning McQueen again.
Yes.
>> Yeah. Know that'll be cool. All righty.
Good lad. I think maybe you should help me move some furniture now.
You're hard to spot in there, Scrap.
>> You're camouflaged.
>> That's in the smallest of the small and the biggest of the big skills or luck.
>> I was I had these out.
Ah, you're rolling.
Getting in your little tuck.
>> Do you like your new bars, dude?
I did.
>> What do you think, Blake Beauty? He likes you.
>> And I was actually doing some calculations.
>> Um, well, >> getting chat to do my calculations for me.
>> Um, to figure out a gear. I was going to do a composite TP at North's and it came to the conclusion 6317 which is 7.7.
>> Congratulations.
>> Thank you.
>> Okay. Few more things to move.
>> Bye scrap. This is going on YouTube. The vet the trip to the vet is tax deductible because and I forgot to video earlier, but Rafa has been getting some attention here.
He might be a little odd when we pick him up >> at this point in time and what his normal ranges are.
>> Scary. Was it scary? Did you growl at the lady?
Oh, poor ref. Oh, scary.
Yes, you'll be all right, won't you?
There's no licking your balls, that's all. Well, you can't do that now, but where they were anyway.
Your mommy's happy to have you back.
>> Shaved, Rafie. I think we did get shaved.
>> Let's take you home. Look what you've got to wear. You got a big cone you can wear.
You're in a cone. What do you think about that?
Hello.
>> Sit.
>> Hello.
Goodbye.
It didn't last.
>> Tell us all about it, Raffy. What happened?
Now you have nothing to say. You're one of those people who goes quiet on camera.
The truth is standing.
Poor refers to become itch and itch.
>> Could you imagine the pain and suffering of not being able to itch and itch scrappy?
>> They're terrible.
>> Don't be late. Scrappy.
Oh, well my go.
Of course, Toby does it on sections.
>> Sorry. Keep going.
>> Yep.
>> Ow. Ow.
Good.
>> Yeah, I'm good.
Go up. Go up.
>> That gets you souped up. You can see.
So, if you can send the hill climb un time, give me some breathing. The uh That was slow. I wished that she was from holding wheel paces.
What if something happens? Uh, >> if anything happens on I mean on his way home.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh, he has my phone number.
>> All right.
>> I'll get [ __ ] to call me if there's any problems.
punch.
>> Oh, punch him.
>> Punch it.
>> Oh.
Shoot. Okay.
>> H just Okay. Just going to watch out.
What's up? What the [ __ ] Oh, please don't fall down like brick like last week.
Oh, what you doing?
>> What you doing?
>> It's fine in the way.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Okay.
Bye-bye.
That was good. Feel >> late again.
>> No. How I feel?
So you think being lazy again was good?
>> Oh, I'm talking about this.
>> It's cold this morning. Oh, the legs.
They recovered from your run now.
>> No, >> it's like yesterday it's like first period of chemistry. It's like it's like second period of physics.
that the day progressively got worse and this is not good cuz I vote next week.
>> This week, isn't it?
>> This week. Sorry.
Executive decision has been made by the dropped to refrain from school attendance for the day.
>> Really?
>> Yes.
>> You don't seem that bad.
Yes, but I must not get bad at all ever because I was going up and I cannot afford to be set fire.
>> Do you really think being at home will make that much difference?
>> Yes, because school is a journey journey environment.
>> But you already got the germs. Catching germs isn't going to make any difference.
Seems to be a mild sniffle at this point.
>> See, you're more hazard by being in the workshop >> cuz there's hazard in the workshop right now. There usually isn't.
>> I think you need to go to school, young man. I think I should stay home so I'm good for >> I don't think I don't understand the correlation though.
>> Like just stay warm.
>> No.
>> Anyway, how was the ride? Good.
Um, obviously I didn't need to drop anyone home despite asking him multiple times and getting their reply.
>> So I got RTO to ask Yui on top of Gladstone if he's keen to ride home himself or if he wants to pick up. And RTO said that Yui said that he's figured out the way to get home and he wants to do that himself.
>> Nice.
Would have been nice to know, but it's okay. I didn't get out of bed anyway.
>> Oh, you told me to message you last night.
>> Yeah. And this morning. Anything else to report about the ride?
>> Um, when we were going, it was like the chicane to go to Temple Street to go up the hill. Yeah. We had a flat tire and he took the corner with his flat front tire and slid out.
>> He was fine. It's like a slow low speed crash.
>> Um got straight up and got his bike over. But um then Rito points out to me that he's got flat tire. It's like obviously I don't have any in the tubes.
Roto doesn't have any in tubes. See is the only one that does and he was off doing the straa segment. So once he came back then we wanted to stop grab the tube and do the repair >> and everyone used code Jonah 15 to pump up their tires >> was a flex tail.
>> Exactly.
>> Flextail.com.
Um yes we have a spare tire.
Um oh dear. Oh trooper. Hope he's going to be back for more.
>> Yeah, thank you. He was going good >> and no pushes required the whole ride anyone.
>> Really? Really? Nice.
Did uh Oliver do the whole course again?
>> Yeah.
>> So, do the two of them ride off together along heading back?
>> Uh no, cuz Oliver decided to go straight up Kipper Road after Nap to get home.
>> Oh, yep. Fair enough. Yeah, that's fair enough. That's a good call for him.
>> Nice one. And uh apparently according to the chat yesterday, we had two late entries into eyeballs.
>> Very nice.
>> Oliver and Seb. Yeah. Don't think Oliver is going to do all of it.
>> Oh, but we'll see.
>> Well, we'll see. I mean, I don't know.
Let's give him some encouragement, you know. Let's Let's see how he can go.
>> Why Why did you say he's not going to do all of it?
>> Well, his mom just said something about doing the race on the first day, but >> Oh, okay.
encourage. Did S say anything about it?
>> No, I just asked him if he's been ready for it and he's like, >> but two individual races on the first day assured him that would be right.
>> Um, yeah, I uh mom asked me how many were coming. I says, "No idea, but more than we had last year." I seem to remember on that second day we had a pretty lonely gazebo.
Maybe we had a RARI next to us at some point, I think. But >> yeah, >> barely remember these things anyway.
>> You upgraded his um so he was on flats on the original ride and then he just showed up today with these.
It's like getting posh now, are we?
But yes, so >> we better make sure he knows we can help him with the bike stuff.
>> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I just fixed this tire, so >> Well, yeah, but anyone Well, many people can change a tire.
Hopefully, we can resolve that today.
I've got the honorable Mr. David Leu messaging asking about listing his stuff. So, they're like, "Dude, we got to we got to reach it first."
>> Yeah. You know what I want to do actually is take a photo of all the parts too because once I've listed everything maybe then we can chill.
I wonder if we fundraised like $10 million or something to buy this property in the one next door, could we put like a mini valadrome around the outside so you could ride that around?
>> 100 meter vill with 90 degree bankings.
>> Yeah. The the only problem is it would have to be wood because you don't ride concrete drromes, do you?
>> No.
So yeah, >> be an indoor wooden 150 m drum.
>> Well, we need like another another 20 million bucks to build the val drum.
>> Or we can just uh >> drive down to Cambridge.
>> Drive down Cambridge.
Nice people down there.
I don't know people.
I have always insisted that my kids go to school unless they look completely physically unable.
>> Yeah, it's an important important event.
>> Yeah, it is. But I just I I'm saying >> 100% healthy to go to that event and going to school in one sick does not help that.
>> Well, somehow I don't think I can force this guy anyway. So, >> it's like pretty bad. It's like, oh, like I don't want you going to school when you're not 100% dead. It's like, yeah, but it also wouldn't be good to go to IU sick.
>> Oh, trust me. I do not want you sick and I >> Exactly.
>> I really, really don't. But I just don't see the correlation between going to school and that.
>> Well, I do. And that's enough of me.
>> Oh, I don't know. If anyone from Sacred Heart watches this, just put them on detention. I don't know.
>> Actually, if anyone from Sacred Heart watches this, I'm sick. And there's going to be a leave pass, not leave pass, an absence pass going in very soon saying that I'm sick cuz I am. You'll see on the video just like all the time. And then I'm sure you don't want to see this, but my gloves go.
Yucky, yucky, yucky, yucky, yucky.
>> A little bit of fluid emanated from your nose and now you need to go to hospital.
Is that what you're saying?
>> Absolutely.
>> No.
>> Oh, man.
>> Not go to hospital. Stay home so I don't have to go to hospital tomorrow.
>> The other problem is if you stay home, how how am I not going to get you to help move some stuff?
Well, let's just >> eventually.
>> Yeah, maybe you'll get better this morning.
>> Be amazing.
>> Okay. Yes, that would be >> school on Wednesday.
>> And what? Sorry.
>> So, if I get better today, then I can go to school on Wednesday and we're good.
>> Yeah, let's make that happen. I think that would be advisable.
>> Getting serious about that gains with that protein, aren't you?
>> Yes. I also saw the flavor that was cinnamon donut. It sounded pretty good.
So, >> get stuck in. It's one of my favorite flavors.
>> I think we should share with him. Poor >> Mhm.
>> Maybe you should be wearing a cone just like him so he feels a bit better about it.
>> No, I'm right.
Here you go, that was nice and crappy to share, wasn't it?
>> Sitting there.
What a sad lonely bike left against a tree across the road.
Unless they've like ridden it since the last time I just put it back in the same place. But feels like somebody's pet just sort of left there.
Today workshop today you'll be emancipated from your current sad state >> and I can take some photos for your Google shop thingy.
>> It's funny how we have two of but one of them's ridable and the other one's >> I you know I just can't get over well three actually. Isn't that an Nvanti you're holding as well?
Um, I can't get over, excuse me, how Ivanti, well, strictly speaking, the brand is not dead, but as far as New Zealand's concerned, it's less than 10 years ago that it it died.
And yet, it just feels like ancient history.
You going to learn anything at school today? Probably not. If you're worried about being sectioned, you'll be wearing a jacket, especially be warm soon enough.
>> Yeah.
>> Cheerio. Open the gate.
>> Oh yeah.
Chop cars.
in Miami.
That time is only if I get the bike on certain night. If I don't then Okay.
