Added:Hey budget friends, it's Steph with Steph's on a Budget. Welcome or welcome back for another video. I hope you guys have been having a great week. We are going to jump into some month ahead emergency fund savings and work on some of our Disney collab today. Super excited for our month ahead. So, let's go ahead and start in this binder, you guys.
We have finished 10 of our 11 fixed expense categories, you guys. We are down to our last envelope for fixed expenses, our mortgage, and then we start jumping into our variable expenses for things like gas, groceries, that sort of thing.
So, let's I have my plan is to kind of switch this up in how we'll be adding money. But for now, we are going to take care of what we have going on in here.
And then um hopefully by the next time we're ready to stuff this um category, we may or may not have a different plan.
No promises, you guys. June is a pretty hectic month. So, I'm just honestly I'm trying to just keep my head above water at this point. All right, our month ahead, you guys. We stuff $33 per payday into our month ahead savings. $33 was just a number that divided evenly into my 11 envelopes and that I could make work in my budget about two and a half years ago. And we have just been consistently stuffing $33 every paycheck towards these funds. And we have, like I said, fully funded 10 of our 11 categories. And that includes our internet, our subscriptions, um, our water bill, our gas bill, our electric bill, our minimum debt payments, which we don't have anymore, our cell phone, um, our Subaru payment, our car insurance, and, um, we just recently fully funded our truck. So, both vehicles are fully funded a month ahead. And eventually the idea is that we won't have those debts either and we'll be able to um just kind of absorb and maybe put towards like the two months ahead. Our last category is mortgage. You guys, the way that I have been doing this is the snowball method.
So each envelope started getting $3 and it just rolled to the next one. So on well we only have one left. So you know what that means? All $33 goes into the mortgage.
This is a massive category though you guys. Um, you know, we have to save quite a bit of money to fully fund our mortgage payment. Our goal is 2,300, though. Um, that probably actually is about $40 over our payment right now.
So, um, we'll re-evaluate this. But with escrow, things are kind of always shuffling within a hundred, a couple hundred maybe even. So, last year, knock on wood, um, and hopefully this year will be the same, but last year was really nice. It was the first year in our home that we didn't have an escrow shortage where we either needed to pay the escrow um or the payment went up. I mean, the payment always goes up. It's just a matter of does it go up a few dollars or does it go up a lot of dollars, right? So, I'm hoping this year we get a escrow refund again, but you know, what are you going to do? Okay.
So, we're in the probably 25 or um you know 20 to 50 to 2300 range, I would say. But right now, our goal is sitting at 2,300.
What I think I'm going to do is actually knock this down you guys to half. So, um in my budget, I split my um mortgage up into two. So, I think to just give myself that satisfying quick win here and there because this will feel very daunting, um, I'm going to strive to save the first half, which is the 1143.
So, I'm actually going to make an adjustment here. And let's let's reach for the um, you know, just to make it a whole number. Let's do 1150 for easy sake of dividing.
And I'll just probably actually end up making a new tracker al together you guys. So we have 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 16 1 2 3 4 5 6 7. So we have 23 icons here that Whoops.
What am I doing?
$11.50 divided by 23 makes these actually $50 an icon now. Ooh, so that's nice. Okay, so let's, you know, get the tracker caught up then for the new amount. Okay, so so far we have 100 and 200, which are these two houses, but two houses going to is going to equal one house going to equal 50 now instead of 100. So that's going to be two houses.
This will be two houses. So, let's go ahead. And this is just how we do it, you guys. We adjust on the fly as needed. So, we can actually cross off four houses and then we have this money building towards the next $50. Okay. So, that at least catches us up there. Let me see if I have 50. I don't think I do.

Okay, so we're caught up on the tracker.
Now, what are we doing today?
Well, we're going to add our $33 in. So, yay.
But but you guys, really exciting stuff.
We did finish a mini challenge in um I don't remember at this point if I'm being honest if this was June or May, but we have a mini challenge here that saved us 10 11 12 13 14 15 $16.
So, um I'm going to do 1 2 3 4 five.
Just for sake of keeping this condensed, I'm going to swap that out. So, we have a mini for $16. that's going to um also go into this.
All right. And then you guys, I am participating in the village hop this year. And one of the envelopes in the village hop is month ahead, which is so freaking exciting. Well, on June 1st, this envelope hit its $100 mark, you guys. And so for me, the way that I'm doing the hop is once it hits $100, that money goes where it's supposed to go. So we have 20 40 60 81. So we have another $100 that we're going to get to add to this today. So in total, we're actually adding 20 40 60 81 20 30 40 45 46 47 48 49 $149. You guys, we're a dollar short.
We're a dollar short.
I kind of want to steal a dollar from somewhere. I just don't know where I would take it from is the thing. Okay, so actually we might not actually even be sure because we have this in here as well.
Let's see what that's going to give us total after we add that 149. So the other thing I have done is every time this envelope has hit $100 in the past, I would pull it and put it in the high yield to deposit it. And then as we're working on the envelope now, I'll start to build the funds up. For this one, since it's such a large amount, we might decide to pull the money, but we'll just play it by ear. So, now we have 200 in the bank already. 20 40 60 80 300 20 40 50 60 70 75 80 81 82 83 84 85 86 87 88. We have 388 in this envelope just like that, you guys. crazy.
So, this is kind of um I mean obviously we put a lot of funds in from other areas of savings, but you can really see how the snowball kind of builds. So, we have 3.88 divided by 50. That means we can mark off seven of our houses towards our goal of the first half of the mortgage. So, there's four, five, six, and seven, you guys. Yay. That feels amazing.
I am super excited. So, um we'll just see how how this goes.
It would be awesome to fully fund this first half by the end of the year or more. Um we'll just have to kind of, you know, play it by ear. We're going to continue to supplement, right? We'll still have more coming from the village hop and we'll still supplement from other challenges, too, like minis and that sort of thing. All right, you guys.
Next up, we are going to work on our emergency fund. So, every year I set a goal to add money to our emergency fund.
And this year, our goal is $1600. You guys, I just love my Harry Potter binder so much. It just brings me so much joy.
So, the way that I work on this binder, and let me just check the glare here, you guys. Okay, I think it's not too bad. We'll make it work. Um, I have six challenges going at one time. And we are going to roll a six-sided dice. So, let's grab Let's grab our This is We'll do Zootopia.
Okay. So, this dice comes from Becca Budgets 777. It's her Zootopia one. So stinking cute. It's going to tell us what challenge we're working on. And it looks like we're going to number two.
And this is our little Hufflepuff challenge from AE Budgets. Let's move this pen. And where are we going?
Number four. 1 2 3 and four. So, right here, you guys.
Okay, we've got $10 going into this one.
I save $64 per pay period, friends, to um get me to the $1,600 um annually. So, that's what we have that we're stuffing today. Okay, where to next? Looks like we're going to go to challenge number six.
I feel like it's been forever since I've been in here and I honestly can hardly remember what we've got. Okay, so this is our Ravenclaw from um Janelle Ray Budgets.

All right, you guys. We've got $9 going into this one. I'm going to put back a one and I'm going to take two fives. So, I am a Hufflepuff if you can't tell, but I also think I could very easily be a Ravenclaw. So, if I was like Harry, um, you know, sitting there, not Hufflepuff, not Hufflepuff, I think I'd be sorted into Ravenclaw. All right, challenge number one is Dobby's socks.
This comes from Mento Co. I'm kind of treating this like a catch-all, too, you guys. Um, let's see. We're still working on the front side. It looks like we ended on this sock right here. So, we're going to go one, two, and that's going to be this one here.
Okay, we've done green, we've done blue.
Let's do maybe some Gryffindor red. So, we're going to mark off this sock and then we're going to find it here. It looks to be right here. And I'm going to color it in. And we're going to save $3, you guys. So, one, two, and three going into this challenge. This one I think is going to save us 115, I think, the way I have it set up. So, it'll be a good little saver. All right, we still got money, so we're going to keep going. You guys, summertime, it's it's so dry here. My hands get so dry and my cuticles are just a hot mess. So, all right, you guys. Ooh, we only have two left here.

Okay, so our little sock challenge has 5 10 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30. We can definitely come in here and do some condensing. So next time I pull for these um envelopes, I definitely do not need any ones. Okay, challenge number two is going to say 50 and it has 5 10 15 20 25 26 27 28 29.
So, that one is already super close.
Challenge number three. We needed one to finish it. It didn't happen. So, out of $50, we have 20, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41. So, we know we've got a whopper of a nine left there.
All right, challenge number four. We gave it some love. It has 20, 40, 45, 50, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63. And this one's a big whopper of a save. 175. So, we've got a good chunk of ways to go here on that one. Okay, challenge number five.
It now has 10, 15, 20, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 out of 45. Oo, so we just have $10 left and a lot of scratchers.
So those will be super low and friendly.
Okay. And then challenge number six has 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40. 1 2 3 4 5 45 out of 75, you guys.
So, it is moving along nicely as well.

Um, let's grab our three-sided Toy Story die. Okay, so every time I save money, I'm putting five bucks towards this challenge. Um, Debt Story comes from my Etsy shop. So, we're going to put $5 into our bank and we're going to grab out our $5 in prop coins. We are going to keep building up these micro payments, friends, all month long and throwing what we have at the end of the month extra towards debt. Yay. Looks like we're starting on envelope two today and we are going to roll.
So, three to kick this one off. Last time we were in this, you guys, we were so close on a lot of these. So fingers crossed we get through the binder here.
All right. Yay. We're getting twos and threes. There's a one. But it's a 50 center. Yay. Okay. Envelope number seven getting two. Can we make it through you guys? Ooh. Envelope eight is going to get three. And then we're going to flip to one. I only have one left. So, let's see what it wanted. Perfect. It wanted one. It got one. We're going to start on envelope two again next time. So, let's go ahead and mark our spot and we'll flip up to envelope one and let's see how we did. And good gracious, you guys. I am hoping I'm going to turn this because I can see there's a pretty good glare on that envelope, but it's pretty dark, you guys.

Okay, shucks. The one time we didn't want it to be 50 cents. We only had one left on this one and we only needed 25 cents. So, we have 25 cents to carry over to the next one. But these two tinies from Tori's budgets saved us one. These were each 50. So, that's $2. There's $3 a $4. So, this set of tinies is a $4 saver. So, let's go back to our bank.
And we don't have it, you guys. I have too many fives in here. Let's see if I can hustle up some change real quick.
Okay, easy peasy. I went right to my emergency fund envelope where we had all those ones. So, we're going to do one, two, three, and four. And this is a completed challenge. Yay. So, this is what I mean by little micro savings. and we just accumulate those all month and um see what we can end up putting towards debt as an extra payment. Okay, we need a new challenge.

So, we might not finish any for a good chunk of time. Challenge number eight is another Kofhei member freebie. And this one got 75 cents from my membership. So, we can mark off three more butterflies from Cutie Groot here. And we've got two rows done. We're halfway on this one, you guys.
Okie dokie. That is going to finish up debt story today. So, let's go ahead and tuck our prop coins back away so we don't lose track of those.

Guys, I have been terrible. I have forgotten my alien coin challenge both both times in June. So, I made myself a note. I need to catch up. Um, I need to color in four coins and save. So, this challenge is up in my Etsy. And what I'm the way I'm using mine is for every challenge I finish in Death Story, I save an additional 50 cents into this challenge. So, I completely spaced it.

When this one gets done, we'll throw it as debt.
