Added:Good morning everybody. Morning sies and cows. I can check the vet. 4.3.
Sweet. Right. Let's get her milking.
That should be any minute now.
Morning sukies. Of course, the first job of the morning. I'm going to stir this one and then put that milk into that drum. And any leftover milk will go into that drum. And then um we may have to get another drum over there. Another full one there. And then hopefully if we've emptied out this drum, the milk can go into this one from this morning from the colostrum girls. Or if it hasn't, then we'll have to put it into that one. Then we're going to put just here. We're going to have to empty the drums out. Make sure we got enough room.
Yes. Sounds good. All right. And let's get to milk. Three rows.
Get the milk. And there's a few cows to get out. About five cows and three heers to get out this morning. So from the colostrum mob and put them with the milk. So, that'll be good. That'll be good. Not quite at the point yet where we're doing um eight milkings yet, but we we will be there probably in once we get over 100, then we'll switch to that. But anyway, >> girls coming. Yeah, >> you won't have any dirty feet on the way in.
>> Well, that's good. Hopefully not. There we go. Okay. Right. I'll kn both. First pull. Second pull when I uh go to cut them.
Oh, get a motor.
Do go get the colossal. I think you go the fence first and you'll go get the colossal building.
So the benefits to washing them is one you don't get covered in as like dirt and crap cuz you're washing off a lot of the dirt and that two keeps your teeth nice and clean and actually three is it keeps their teeth nice and moist cuz you very rarely do you see us keep um keep greasing their cheeks. Yeah, the tea spray does help. But I find um washing their teeth as well helps. And also there is another benefit as well that they know they're about to get cut and that's when they start to let their milk out.
They learn that that's time right. He's about to cup us. Second pull.
Two pulls for the milkers and that's it.
So, Dad's just gone through to go and get the cloth girls in. I'm um I'm just about to spray the first row. We got still about 3/4 of the long, but um good timing. Thank you, Dad.
Just in time to >> bring the last row in for the milkers.
The last row's pulling up, isn't it?
There you go.
One of her favorite cows. She's been uh four milkings in a row with the robe on her leg. Hey, that wasn't her fault, unfortunately.
Well, I'll give her three chances. Cuz what I mean is I cup her up and hold her and she kicks the cups off. That's one.
So she kicked the cups off three times with me holding her cups on. So she gets the rope. She's down to two now because she's been so annoying.
But she'll get better. She'll eventually learn not to kick her cups off. But she's down to two times now.
Ah yes, there he is. All done.
Didn't take them long. The moers go off to their paddic. Good girl, McKenzie.
Good girl.
All right, I see dad stood up. 24 she is in the paddic down there. It's good. Onto the Colossian girls.
Good job. Don't be long. You'll be back in the herd, won't you?
>> Empty out now, Chief. So the big white here for there, she goes back in on Tuesday. She's back in the vet. Well, in the vet, I should say, not back in. And then it's quite interesting. Yeah. If it's got a bit of mold this morning.
Good girls. She stands proud, didn't she? That little heer.
Everyone's learning.
Hi, my girls.
Come on.
Come on. Glam mob decreased a lot, didn't it?
>> Two full rows.
>> Two full rows not that long ago. Very full rows, too.
>> Successful milking a >> and the girls are milking. Well, this was an empty bucket. And hello. It's a little heer given 20 lers and kicking a couple. The last two sorted from that row sorted. Come on girls into your paddic. D9. She's a little bit of a spooky one, but she's not a bad little milker. Little heer.
Did well. The other two heers are under treatment.
There's Tessa. Morning Tessa.
Oh, hey Munchkin.
There they are.
First, we're going to go and wash up.
Just lock the milkers away. And then um and we'll get to go and put some bobbies in the bobby car pen. We can go down and do our jobs.
Dad's cow's just sat down. Actually, 24 just sat down.
all put through. We'll leave dad to it.
Bobby cars and Bobby car pin ready. You >> better go and help Tisha. How much you going to go in there and go and help mommy?
>> And yes, Bobby calves are ready to go.
>> Yes. Poop on me and record.
>> Got milk. We got cars. We got cows.
And we got Arrow and Mommy and Uncle G.
>> We have everything we need.
>> So, so Gary, look at them.
>> We call this one Snowball cuz he's so He's so fluffy. He's so cute. Look, he's just eating my hand.
And then we can go helping out. We got to get get going. Mkin, I'll take the side by side. Mom can set up for the gates.
All good.
We got one car in here.
>> Not very old.
>> Is it girl or boy?
>> Both.
>> Both.
>> Boy.
>> I thought girls were supposed to go in that pin.
I thought girls were supposed to go in that pin.
>> I don't know.
>> Yeah, I think they were. I'll just change it.
>> Two girls.
Pardon.
May.
More like she's >> [screaming] >> So this is the one yesterday.
Come on.
>> Come on.
Come on.
Come on.
Her at the back.
>> He had the calf yesterday, didn't he? A black one.
Hi, Kenzie.
That one there wants to come out. That's an >> Yep.
>> There we go. Look at that.
>> He does understand. Two cows, two more heers, and I'll wind up this reel. We're going to uh just sort out two empties, empty heers by the looks of them. We'll get them v checked or pded just to make sure. But there's no point getting all of them PD. I mean, look at them spending all that money just to PD all the ones that are in Cath. Hey, black one. This one looks it turn around like it >> and the other one. Three empties.
>> That's right. But we do have the numbers for them.
Dad will just bring back the jersey here that run past the motorbike. All going well. Success. We think we got all the empties. See, she's got a little ladder.
All the ones in there now that we think are in cal. We'll let them walk those animals up and um we're going to go back wind up the reel.
All of them look like they're in calf.
Now, those ones, they had that look, no other, and they also had um that empty look like they didn't actually have a calf in that area. That is the most important area to have the calf. So, yeah. Anyways, go wind up our reel and put it back out again, shall we?
Just cuz they look empty doesn't mean they are empty, too. So, that's why we're going to get the vet to check those three three or two. I think it's three animals just to make sure. They could be very late or they could be empty, but we'll go and get them checked anyway. They were expecting another three at least because they work on the basis of a 10% empty rate in the heers and 10% empty rate in the cows. That's the basis we work it out on and that's how we know where we had we got out five when we sold those um those uh 29 animals.
We got out five that were empty and these three makes it eight which is bang on with 80 heers is what we have.
So, we just work on that percentage. But we definitely had enough bull power.
They should be a car. We had four bulls with 80 animals. I don't think there was an issue on bull power. I just think these girls weren't um fertile. Or they may have slipped really early on, too.
Could be the other thing.
They sorted them already. I didn't get dad's run, though.
Hello German.
We got them. So yeah, crazy animal that look at that nice white face, red. It's perfect. Right, we'll take this girl, put her with the carving girls as well.
And uh let's roll on.
>> All right, Tessa. She's happy as she's got little carvy in the pen. Put her with the colostrum girls. Is >> that it's our big car compared to the rest.
Look at that. You can see it above the rest on the other side of those other CS.
>> Nice animal. She's a beautiful walker.
Good work, Mackenzie.
>> Nicely done.
>> Nearly got a shot.
>> You were close, but you got through.
>> You had a big all cuddled up nice and warm.
>> Except for that one.
>> Whichever that one is.
>> That one's spraying the navels with iodine to prevent infection. And also, it's the bobby calves. These our keeper ones here and yesterday's.
There you go. Number 31. Not bad going.
Good numbers. Nice big herford tagged as a keeper for dad's beef mob. Beef tag.
Hey.
All right.
Going to go stand this cow up again and give her some water. Very close to standing up. Darling nearly stood up there, but she's got to learn to stand up with her gummy leg.
Good girl.
>> We got some water for you, but I'm just going to stand you up, take you to your new brake, and then give you some water in front of you. Here we are. Just put the bucket of water in front of her so she can have a drink.
>> It's all right, D. It's all right.
[sighs] Good. With that, I'll see you all at shifting the cows tonight. Well, milking tonight.
>> [music] [music] >> I'm out.
>> [music] >> Good afternoon everybody. As you'll see the tags are slowly decreasing in number. Um, so I don't know if you noticed this morning, but we had actually Oh, I have to get another drum cuz there's going to be too much milk there. So, um, I don't know if you noticed this morning, but we had four calves and five cows. Turns out we found the other cow that had calf yesterday. And, um, yeah, so that was good. Instead of one of the cows having twins, turned out she actually had one calf and the other mom would just have them fly. We ended up finally. So that's good. But anyway, um, as you've seen, I took the drone down to go and have a look through the cows and all that. No one looked like they were carving. No one having issues, which is a great sign. There he is. Afternoon, Dad.
>> Dad and I are just checking. This time last year we had 120 cows in. This year we've only got 92. Had a quick carving last year, but little bit slower this year, but hey, we're still getting the good numbers anyway. Very quiet down here today.
I don't see any cows. Cows are happy.
Full.
Still got hay. So silence to eat rushes.
>> Yeah.
Some calves.
Anyway, we said that the other night we had none. We end up having six. He might be covered.
No one in there.
Very quiet. Good girls to the heers. Go. Look at them happy.
Unventful quiet. Off he goes. Going to go get the cows in. They're pretty far away.
Terry.
All right, let's get to Mocha.
Done.
>> Hey, Dad. Who's using the hose down there?
A lot of fellas here.
>> Hey, going.
>> Yeah, look at him. Look, he's got a good apron on, too. Proud farmer. Good to see. Good to see. Even though he's an engineer. [laughter] Neat. Come on you. You two are going to get vet checked. Go out. Gra out in that paddic. Please. They don't look very Maybe one there could be. But first >> going well. This first pull.
>> Second pull.
We're on to it. Eh. Going well. Bit quicker with Jordan in here.
He's loving it. Good to be back in the couch here, Jordan for one night.
[laughter] >> Dad's here, too, while we'll be treating cows a minute. This little hip is a new one. Needs a treatment. And then um everyone else is one more to treat down there and that's it. She's finished. All the others have finished treatment.
They're just in with holding now. She's our new one. She gets three nights. We get a few cows going in. 241 and 170 212 66 62 going in today. And we might as well put our herit in as well.
Oh, >> you all right there?
>> You're looking a bit seed.
>> Jeez.
780 170.
And the heropant probably Is that 62 there?
212.
>> There we go. Sorted out. That was easy.
Oh, sorry, girl. A little bit crazy these ones, but they are heard animals.
So there we go.
Easy does it.
There we are. Good girl. She a friendly one. Lovely.
And too easy. Sorted out. All going well.
Going to put through our hot water.
That's pulling up nicely. You'll see there. It's going to be way more than what we said last time.
>> Way more. Probably double. 10,000 L.
Probably. How'd you carve these feet?
Ta.
>> Good.
>> Good. That's a one. How easy is it?
>> The bikes are dirty. [laughter] >> Oh, yeah.
>> Like and subscribe. We'll screw you in the water.
>> Perfect. Thank you. I'll take the drone down.
>> See you in the morning.
>> Perfect. Right.
So just hauling on home now and what you would have seen from that go on Aaron from that photo is um that's how much we sent solids production and all that and how much we're down for the season.
That's to be expected cuz we sent earlier last year. Um but yeah that's that's incredible. some Excel count 54 on the first pickup. But you got to remember we are holding the cows out for 10 days milking. And um yeah, well with that, let's go and launch the drones, fly down, and actually 10% on the milk solid percentage, which is really good for us cuz we are cross herd. Going really well. The girls are pumping. But anyways, I'll launch the drone down.
Drone's going to go and have a look at the cows now. With that, I'll see you all in the morning. Thank you.
