The Red-bearded Bee-eater (Nyctyornis amictus) is a striking bird species native to southern Thailand and central western regions, characterized by its mainly green body, pink crown, yellow-black tail, and distinctive orange eyes. Unlike many bee-eater species, it does not form nesting colonies but instead nests in burrows tunneled into sandy or muddy banks. Despite its unusual appearance, this bird is an excellent flyer with pointed wings that allow it to efficiently catch bees and other flying insects mid-air. Its vocalizations resemble a cross between a frog and a duck, making sound an important identification feature for observers.
