NY Rabbi Calls For Mamdani's ARREST After Threat To Jail Netanyahu BACKFIRES!

[00:01:01]The president declaring Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested when he comes to New York for the UN General Assembly despite New York City Mayor Mondani's promise during the campaign that he would definitely arrest him and now his promise to definitely look into arresting him.

[00:01:25]>> Good morning, ladies. Mondani says his administration is actively exploring whether there is any legal path to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu when the Israeli visit the Israeli leader visits New York in September.

[00:01:40]>> I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in The Hague. He's a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court.

[00:01:50]>> But President Trump is making clear that that will not happen. Taking to Truth Social saying this.

[00:01:58]Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested in any way, shape, or form while he's in the United States of America. He is fighting against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which recently killed 52,000 innocent protesters, and has spent the last 47 years killing American soldiers and others. The only ones that should be arrested are the people that led Iran into this unprecedented spiral of death and destruction. Something that should have been dealt with years ago by previous presidents. Now, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu on in 2024 over allegations related to the war in Gaza, accusations that Israel strongly denies. The United States nor Israel are members of the ICC and do not recognize the court's authority. US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz called Mamdani's threat pure political theater, pointing to diplomatic protections ahead of and head of state immunity ahead of the UN. Israel's Ambassador Danny Danon also blasting the mayor.

[00:02:59]>> What does the War Powers Resolution 173 say? It says that the president has to provide eight 48 hours of notification, and they've done and he's done that. And then, they have up to 60 days, perhaps a 30-days extension. So, where has anything been broken or they haven't made every standard?

[00:03:17]>> Now, the backlash is also coming from within Mamdani's party, as we just heard there, Democratic Senator John Fetterman calling the mayor a clown over the threats, while the Democrats have warned the proposal risks deepening the party's already growing divide over Israel.

[00:03:32]Meanwhile as well, New York State Democratic Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein is urging Attorney General Letitia James to investigate what he calls possible official misconduct by Mamdani over his public comments about arresting Netanyahu. Now, Mamdani insists his administration will follow local and federal law, but he is not backing away from his pledge to pursue every legal option. Ed, Chrissa?

[00:04:10]Latina, let me start with you. Your reaction to Mayor Eric Adams' campaign promise and now saying that he will look into it. Is this the legitimate for him to be doing?

[00:04:20]>> Well, good morning. Thank you for having me. This is not legitimate. This is nothing more of a political theatrics.

[00:04:26]This is someone who is virtue signaling to an extreme radical base. You have to keep in mind, this is something that the DSA have been pushing for quite some time and to target an Jewish foreign leader, it sends a very dangerous message that not only are you targeting a Jewish foreign leader, you're also targeting Jewish Americans. He's sending a very dangerous message to all Jewish Americans and I think that this mayor, he knows what he's doing. He knows that he doesn't have the power or the authority to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu.

[00:05:01]Who's going to make the arrest? Not NYPD.

[00:05:03]>> Right. They don't have the authority to do that. But Eric Adams claims that Netanyahu is a war criminal and belongs in The Hague. But for people who have actually been charged and convicted of heinous crimes right here in New York, he comes right up to them going to watch, remember the soccer game with Rikers Island quote-unquote New Yorkers in custody aka inmates. So, Rabbi, what does this mean to the Jewish community again when they see this Zaran in Rikers Island watching football, but yet with the Prime Minister of Israel, he is going after him trying to arrest him?

[00:05:37]>> Well, good morning to everybody. This is a real dangerous sign for the Jewish community. It's the largest Jewish community outside of Israel in the world. And this is a man, Eric Adams, who refuses to condemn the term globalizing to follow which is a reference to genocide against the Jewish people. I find it quite remarkable that a guy is having trouble running a city is now running American foreign policy from his own perspective. He was elected to clean up the garbage, get rid of the rat infestation, uh clean up our streets, uh stop the flooding that we just saw recently in New York City.

[00:06:08]Instead, he's pivoting from his failed policies to attack a Jewish leader which we believe is truly anti-Semitic.

[00:06:14]>> So, Latino it it doesn't sound to me like you think this is a moral position that the mayor is taking but something more on international human rights. Others say, especially Benjamin Netanyahu, that he's simply trying to deflect from all the things that haven't been accomplished in New York City.

[00:06:32]>> You know, I agree with you 100% and I agree with Benjamin Netanyahu. This is somebody who's trying to, you know, entertain his base. Yes, he ran on you know, promises that he's going to do X, Y, and Z. He has failed as a mayor. I cannot name one thing that he has accomplished in New York City as the mayor. All I can say is that this guy has been very extreme. He's been anti-Semitic. He's been you know, supportive of you know, terrorist organizations and groups. This is not a mayor who's about unity. This is about This is a mayor who's about division and he's out there, you know, spewing hate and and we we need to we need to hold him accountable. There needs to be some type of accountability.

[00:07:15]He is failing in every aspect as a mayor. He is no leader.

[00:07:19]>> Yeah, and he does it with a smile which is very frightening because he is clearly gaining a lot of attention and he's the real symbol of the DSA. But a Democrat lawmaker in Brooklyn is raising some questions from the left. State Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein writing a letter to Attorney General Letitia James asking her to probe possible misconduct by Zohran Mamdani claiming that New York law directly prohibits the mayor from ordering local law enforcement to arrest a specific individual. Uh Rabbi, this is very important and I think this might be the reason why Eric Adams is walking back some of his statements saying, "Oh, no, I'm just going to explore the possible arrest." because he does not have the authority to do it and actually might be illegal for him to do so. Your reaction?
