This in the context of humanoid robotics brings a lot of advantages. One, because the camera module is compact, we're able to put it directly into the hand, which means that we reduce or remove rather any issues with self-occlusion. So, the hand is not getting in the way of the vision system when grasping an object.
And because the system is monocular in nature, we're able to give 3D at very, very close range. So, we're able to provide real-time feedback while we're grabbing onto the object.
