Our First 3D Prints Were TERRIBLE… So We Fixed Them

As we're over the last month decided to refine slowly the first 3D prints we ever made. It actually had anniversary. The first 3D print we reworked a few days ago came out exactly one year ago on Cool 3D. So, it's actually a little anniversary and we decided to rework these products. As most of you already know, we are selling our 3D prints on Colts 3D and you can just 3D print most of the items we made in the past yourself if you want. But, as a lot of you always ask if we can 3D print something for you, as a lot of people just don't have their own 3D printer or at least not a good enough 3D printer to 3D print really complex shape. We get really often asked if we're able to reprint something for someone else. And currently we just didn't have the logistical possibilities for that or sadly just the time. But after some refining and working on the products, we managed to get the first two now in a state that can actually be sold and you can now on mistressandpap.y.com order your own version of the first two products. And what these first two products are, we're going to talk about in today's video. So, let's directly start with a little comparison because I still have the original prints from one year ago for the first product and I think the second one also is like seven eight months old now and we're going to compare them to the final products that we end up putting up on Etsy. We're planning also to slowly refine more and more products. The next one is going to be the candalapra color that a lot of you are looking forward to. It just needs some fine-tuning and also especially sizing to fit everyone's neck size. And as you know with every product that requires to be customly fitted for a specific size, it requires a bit more work. So the first two products that we made also were focused around the fact that it's one size fits all. That means you just buy the product that we have on the website and it's compatible with whatever neck, wrist or whatever size you have. Especially as we're coming to in a second ar I lost the train of thought. So it's time to look at the first product. And first we're looking at our prototype from one year ago.

[00:02:14]These are our screw clamp cuffs. And the idea behind these screw clamp cuffs was pretty simple. I wanted something that feels like because yes, I'm really autistic if you didn't figure that one out yet. I wanted something that feels like my miss holding my wrists because I fall asleep most nights actually by my partner just holding my wrists tightly because I like the feeling of the pressure. And I thought there's not really any cuffs or anything similar that actually replicate this feeling nicely. So we designed a year ago these cuffs here that's in version one that is just a screw on top that you can unscrew. You can see at this version the threading wasn't that great yet because you need to spin really a lot to be able to get this off. And then you just get this spaced and you can put your wrists in. And when you tighten it down, it would put pressure in a way. Basically, no other calf puts pressure on it as it's keeping you from tilting your wrists, but also just putting a nice even pressure from the top and bottom.

[00:03:13]I'm just going to quickly down for just one side. Normally, you have both wrists in and it puts a even pressure on this.

[00:03:20]It's kind of interesting to look at these and compare them with what we have now because there's indeed some work that went into this. open this little box and actually look at our finished one.

[00:03:31]This case in black. We're going to have the final lineup in multiple colors.

[00:03:34]Have it in hot pink, bubblegum pink. I really love this one. But um let's say one person in visit me recently already took one pair of these because they loved it so much in white, in black, and in red as well as in baby blue and in silver. So a few changes that we had.

[00:03:54]First of all, the screw on top, it has the sides cut off, so it slides easilier. We changed the threading. So, now instead of one million spins, you just needed to spin like a few times. We rounded the corners at the side. For this one, we're just going to put both in. And I'm going to get my partner quickly to tighten these.

[00:04:16]So, yes, you can basically decide how you can make a little tighter, how tight you want them based on pressure. Hola, my hair is everywhere compared to this design. Mostly we rounded the corners.

[00:04:26]We made this a little bit more stable.

[00:04:28]We changed the screw. We changed the threading and generally printed these with a way higher amount of infill.

[00:04:36]I'm fine. This one went through actual pretty decent testing. Um, we attempted to break these with our whole body weight and we could not break them. I also just attempted to break free with the few will force that I have, but well um that also doesn't work. So these ones are now available in our shop. got them eating my hair for €34.

[00:04:53]And I'm also putting some product pictures here as well as the first shoot that we did where we just went on a little walk with these attached to me.

[00:05:00]So, I'm going to get out of these and we're going to switch to the second one.

[00:05:10]Um, if you're in different countries, the pricing might depend on how difficult shipping is. We're trying to get shipping to the US done as cheaply as possible. Sadly, currently with the tariff situation and generally how often tariffs change, it's a little harder to get anything shipped to the S. That said, we're currently shipping worldwide and also to the S, so it's possible to order. Just expect slightly higher pricing. Before we're going to the next one, um, as a few of you probably going to ask, why should I pay 34 bucks for something that's 3D printed? First of all, I want to say 34 bucks for something that's 3D printed is probably already cheaper than most people would sell something as I attempted to get this one actually as cheap as I physically can. We cannot do this fully alone. So we have like some help with these. That means labor cost is involved into this. Storage cost is involved into this. Obviously material cost and then shipping, packaging, everything surrounding that. Packaging is absolutely discreet. That means in case you order something from us, it will not have any specific naming on the packaging or anything. It's just a normal cardboard box that is absolutely plain. What is indeed probably the preferred option for most of you. So you don't have to leave a note or anything in the description. We're already going to ship any package anyway discrete. We will see over the first weeks of the product lounge and of the shop lounge how pricing works out and adjust dependingly if we're figuring out that we're basically making minus with these products at the end of the day. But for now, we're attempting to get these out actually at a reasonable price that is still affordable for anyone involved as much as we can at least. That said, these probably wet like actually more than I expect if I now take the old ones in hand. God, these are four times heavier than the old ones. This is actually printed with a lot of infill to be able to sustain stability and be not breakable in any way. One test we did was we were standing on it suspended between two chairs and it it survived.

[00:07:04]It contains a fort or a little bit more of a fort of a spool of filament. One change we also did is the screw on the bottom of this one is like standing out while the screw on this one. The screw is basically inset. Next one is first again our original and that's the serving tray. The serving tray is meant and I'm going to not try this one on, but I'm going to try the final design on in a second so I can show it off. But I put another picture here from when we originally created and shot this. The serving tray is meant to balance a cup or a drink. And you have two options.

[00:07:38]You have option number one. I'm going to already take a little piece of chain to demonstrate. Um you have the chain basically attached to this O-ring here and then have it on your body side attached to a collar and left and right a pair of cuffs. So it's a little bit more of a balancing game because the chain lays on your body side and the cuffs are basically all you balance with or you have the alternative option of turning it around making the travel distance a little longer. what reduces the storage space a little as the chain is going over it, but also it's a way more stable construction. What allows you to have an easier time letting yourself balance something on this. That said, we tested this with multiple people by now and for all of them, it was relatively easy to balance something really easily breakable like a wine glass in both scenarios. So, you're just adding like a little bit more challenge and not making it unrealistic or really difficult to balance in case you don't have any issues with like balance in general. I think this one is probably the one that got through the most changes when I look at this because um I feel like this doesn't even have a lot to do with each other anymore.

[00:08:45][laughter] I compare them side by side. Let's get a quick closeup of that. On the first side, we have the old tray and then we have the new tray. Not only is the reasonable space that you can balance something on, I would say about 40% bigger. So you can indeed theoretically balance a bottle of wine and a wine glass or any other item. So 25 cm more or less, more or less. I will put the exact measurements here um of balancing spec. We decided to change the before just 3D printed relatively thin O-rings to actual metal O-rings that are inset.

[00:09:23]That means they're sitting in a lot of material. So you cannot break these out with any force. So all three of them have like a nut printed into the material. Two on the sides and one on the front where you can attach whatever leather, metal or other pair of collar and cuffs you prefer to use with these.

[00:09:41]We're going to in a second just try these out with the metal cuffs as well as with a collar, but normally I would use the steel collar. We're just going to use my collar. As I said, it doesn't really matter whatever color and whatever cuffs you can attach to these.

[00:09:56]Most of them hopefully already come with clips. If not, just some simple carabiners, D-rings, O-rings, it doesn't really matter. Whatever you can clamp onto these will give you the ability to balance whatever item you want on it.

[00:10:10]Worst case, even a simple piece of rope with a proper knot, important, with a proper knot or a zip tie would be enough to connect. So, we're leaving this as light as possible. What obviously reduces shipping cost at the end of the day and makes us able to ship these into more countries on Earth, as well as making it as modular as possible. So, you can just use whatever you want to attach to this. This one also comes in all the colors I listed before. So, in white, in silver, was obviously if you combine it with like metal hardware, a really nice touch. In light pink, in hot pink, in light blue, white, black, and red. I think visually for contrast, we're going to use the white one right now. And before I'm trying this on, we're already going to talk quickly about pricing. And this one costs, if you order from Germany, 39 bucks if you order worldwide. Different depending if you're in the US or in the UK or just in the rest of the world. Even though we decided to compensate the cost here quite a lot just because I know that a lot of viewers here coming from the UK and from the US and it's quite hard to acquire items from the other end of the world. What I notice often enough when I order something. So, at least give a little bit more realistic chance to acquire one of these. Um, we're going to compensate the costs that go above 10 bucks for now and see how that goes. In the first week, we had free shipping, but um, yeah, we got a few orders in and I don't think we can quite realistically compensate it anymore because I think on the first trace that we sold, we probably made like less than five bucks to be just realistic here. We're trying to keep this as reasonably priced as possible, but once again, there's quite some costs going in this one so we can on top of all the other things that we're already doing still be able to make this happening. And also slowly going to attempt to increase our lineup into more and more products. The only product that will most certainly not happen is our hatbox. We already went through the calculations for this one, and this one is just pretty much unfeasible to produce, at least for us.

[00:12:02]Time to try this one on, I would say. I would most likely get some help from my partner. I'm just going to scoop a little closer to the camera. And while she's getting me into this, I'm going to talk a little bit more about the items that we're planning. In our case, we're using, as I said already, these ones from Age of Bondage. They come with this little O-rings. I just already put them on.

[00:12:26]Using a small piece of chain. Depends on how long of a piece of chain you have or rope or whatever you use. Like this.

[00:12:37]Here we are with the little balancing game. As you can already see, I'm still having quite stability and um my partner is going to be here in a second with a glass that I'm balanced while I keep explaining a bit about this item. There we go. A glass of course. And apparently I'm going to hold a little drink. And the other version is like more weight on your neck and a little bit less room to be able to control the item. We're working currently on a bundle that will contain also the collar and the cuffs as well as some carabiners and a little bit of chain. So, you basically can buy this whole bundle for this. Um, we're working for this with a different company. So, we're having to currently figure out some behind the scenes stuff surrounding pricing and ability to ship this together. But my goal would be for this that we can just sell a bundle with this tray and a pair of cuffs and collar in a matching collar to this or in a different color depending on what you want. It would be a partly 3D printed collar with a similar hardware to the serving tray so it matches visually perfectly. So in case you don't have a collar or cuffs yet and you want a whole set, best case wait a few weeks. We're currently attempting to get this as quickly as possible at it in our shop so you can buy a whole bundle including everything besides just a serving tray.

[00:13:57]Assume that this one will most likely cost a bit more as we're not producing the cuffs and the collar ourselves. So, we obviously have to work with a little bit different pricing here. Plus, it's a big bundle including the whole set of collar and cuffs that is also made to your size. So, it will fit perfectly. It just requires a bit more work and we're currently attempting to do this. That's our current products. I hope you enjoyed this video. Um, it was a lot of work to actually get here. We're planning this for quite a bit and reworking this for for quite a bit. Um, we're currently, as I already said, reworking the candalapra collar. I'm putting an image here one more time. It's the most difficult as it really requires perfect sizing for your neck so it doesn't tilt left or right.

[00:14:38]And we're seeing if we're able to deliver it with some. So, yeah, this one just will take a little bit of extra work.
