We got some rails set out. Now, we have not unboxed the solar panels yet. We'll do that here shortly. We got all the hardware. End up having to run to uh town to get 150 bolts, nuts, and washers cuz didn't quite work out right. But the plan is now to do three rows of 10 up top there and then one row of 10 up there. But first, we got an issue right here. If we look right here where these uh joists meet, the only thing holding it on is that little clip right there. Oh my gosh, that little clip. But David uh has a plan. He's got a bunch of these uh braces right here like we've got on this end. And what we're going to do >> is install them all the way down.
>> That way the 2,000 lbs we're putting on this roof will hold.
All right, we got the monkeys up here working on the braces.
[snorts and laughter] >> We got the other monkeys working on the brackets. I'm helping over here, too. We got We like this old us old guys uh like the shade work while the young guys, they do that hard work over there. That's that that's that's the real man work.

We got um 14 ft rails, three sections to be uh 38 ft long. We'll have to cut off the excess at the end and then have 9 in of uh solar panel overhang of the roof and a foot overhang of the rail. So that that should be perfect.
>> David over here being the sandwich maker.

And I'm going to get behind you and I'm going to check each connection. That way we got basically you keep the same angle each time that well get out of the way cloud >> just [laughter] as we wanted. The one cloud in the sky goes there just as you want to do this.
>> So the uh and what I'm looking for is voltage open circuit which is 40.98 40.98 so 40.98 and 40.98 36.31.
So, as long as they're the same because you know you don't have a So, 36.31. All right. Next.

So, let's see what this one is. Get a perspective.
We were angled just one way.
>> All right. 38.68.
>> We're going up.
>> Just going up. [laughter] >> You're getting better at what you're doing. Now, if this one's 39 or 40, I'm going to be freaking out.
>> We'll just keep holding them higher each time to see. Now, here's one thing.
Those were on top. The uh you get less output when they get hot.
>> Solar panense. Winter time, you get the most output. So, summertime, you get the least output.
>> It seems backwards, right? It's solar [laughter] work.
>> Yes. It's it's about temperature also.
There's a temperature coefficient you have to take into account. Oh, you throw the big words.
>> Yeah, >> that's that guy that went to college.
>> 39.03. They're going up. Yeah.
>> 3903.
>> You're on to something.
>> Yeah.
>> But again, I'm all I'm all within tolerance. So, >> now the metal is a lot cooler on.
>> Isn't it crazy?
>> Yeah.
>> Is that crazy? Now, if one of these goes to like 35 or 33, I'll be I'll be kind of curious.
>> So, sorry.
>> Oh, you know what? We're We're a little less. The cardboard's covered in board.
>> Oh, yeah. Yeah.

>> 39.15. Look at that. Yeah. Ain't that crazy?
>> All right. We got them all tested. They all were in spec. We laid two in here so we can see how we're going to connect them. So, we'll have the main red wire coming in, connecting to the end. We'll run 10 panels down the roof connecting the uh plus and minus to each one as we go in series. We'll have 10 10 panels in one string times four all of them connected together. So the black wire connect on that end, the red wire connect on this end and that'll be uh and actually he can run 10 these one string of 10 straight to his jackeri until he gets his EG4 system installed.
I'm as high as I can go right there.
They can pull them off right there.
>> Hey, don't be falling off, man. You be careful.
>> Try not to let it scratch it.
>> Yeah.
Try that leverage.

All right. So, we got the ones across the top and verified about 9 in overhang. Of course, the rails will stick out farther. Now, we're trying to figure out where the second and third rows are going to go.
So, glad Gary and Jason got all those cross brackets right there. Otherwise, just those little bitty sheet metal brackets were holding this whole two cuz we're putting 2,000 lbs on this roof. some solar panels and rails.
>> All right, here's the third row.
Beginning of the third row, just to see what it looks like.
>> This is at the bottom.
>> See how much room I'm hoping we have about 18 in between each row there.
That's That's the goal. I mean, that's ideal. If you can walk between your solar panels, that is amazing.
All right, so uh this turned out great.
Look at this. We got the 9 in overhang.
The rail again, the rails were hanging out a little bit. We're going 10 down that way. We actually have to get one up on top of there, too. So, perfect.

And uh Jason and uh Gary are trying to figure out get the rails on. We got the which side they want them on. Guys, we're gonna get 10 panels on today. The first day that a lot of it was planning, a lot of it was preparation and trying to figure out, you know, what we wanted.
But now that we know what we're doing, >> we're get 10 panels on today. The rest are going to tomorrow's going to fly like like a breeze.

10th panels on the roof.
All right, guys. It's the end of day one and we've got one row, 10 panels installed. Guess what? It's time for Tim to go to work. I'm going to go ahead and wire up these to his jackeri and we can see if we can get a little bit of this evening sun.
All right, I got these are a bunch of cables that I gave David probably a mile multi- sets of uh this really uh 10 gauge PV wire goes all the way to my truck over there. Probably about $1,000 worth of cables and connectors. Love my brother David, of course. Let's go ahead and get these. I'm going to get this jackeri going today. We still got sun and I'm excited to see about getting some power here on Come on 360. So, let me get this straightened out. We'll get some power.
>> All right, Jason, I'm gonna I'm gonna throw this up to you. You're going to plug it in right there. Can you reach that plug in? You see it over here?
>> Now, uh what I can do, hold on just a second.
It's a little bit hanging off the side.
I think we need to do it from the uh the forks of the tractor.
There you go. You got it.
So, I'm going to throw this up to you.
You're going to plug that in there.
Make sure it clicks really good.
You got it. All right. Now, walk this red cable all the way down to the other end of the roof and throw it off.
Excellent. Excellent. All right, we'll run this down this column right here and we'll run it over to his jackery. Um, I need to give you the black cable to plug into that one. All right.
All right. Send you up a black mail. You like black ma black males, right?
>> Oh, yeah. It's my only kind. [laughter] >> Oh, what happened there?
>> He was fast. [laughter] He >> He was scared of you.
>> I need someone Dennis Rodman or something. Now, if you run it behind that bracket like you did the red one, then plug it in if you can. That'll keep them together.
Hopefully, we got enough sun. The clouds keep coming up. I want to get a little bit of power coming in on this thing.

And right now you can see there is zero watts coming in. So the plan we got this high voltage connection right here. I got to plug where's it at? Here. This the male female into the male.
There we go. Let's get the red. Get the Where's it at? Right there.
Male into the female. We got to turn this on and let's see what happens right here. Come on now. Come on. Come on, baby. Give me some power. Give me some power. Just take a second. Come on. Come on.
Whoa. Did you see that? It was 12,200 watts there for a second.
>> It was >> 1,200 1300 >> 1330. Oh, look at that. Evening sun. 10 panels.
He's getting 1300 watts. Woohoo. So, we got those rails. We got to cut off the end of there. But there's the 10 panels.
And if we look, here's his house. And there's the evening sun right over right over the tree. And we're getting 1300 watts. Yeah.
>> [music] >> Good morning. Day two. Gary's already up on top of the roof getting the first rail done. I think Anony's over there cooking on breakfast on the griddle. The sun just peaked over the trees and we got solar coming in the top panels.
David is a happy camper. All right, breakfast is over. Jason is up on the roof. They're getting all the uh L brackets mounted so we can get all the the rest of the rails installed.
Again, all the panels are tested. We got uh 30 panels to install today. Those first 10 again uh took forever to get the math down and the plan, but now that the plan's done, I think these guys are going to get this done before um well maybe just after lunch.
I watched a couple of a while before I came.
You know what I mean?
>> He's going to try to put that upper clamp on.
>> Okay.
Yet threw it up there because that's what I said last night.
Wax, I got a project for you.
See all this stuff out here? The boxes, the straps, all of that.
>> Please get all of that.
>> I would say stack it over there by that burn barrel.
All right, the rails are done up there.
And we're thinking that David can actually get the panels up easier on this end because there's not a bunch of big rocks in the way. We're going to test this theory out. And if we can, then he'll just be uh handing so many up there. We'll come back over here, get some. We'll load them up for them. Bring them back over there.
Woo! He's off in the woods over there.
That's kind of precarious now.

And then I couldn't do 9 in on the solar panel. But here's the thing.
>> So it's 9 in on the solar panel exposed on that side. And then on this side on the top of this one, it's 8 in.
>> So on that side, I've got 9 in on the rail. But then I've got 8 in on the solar panel and then 9 in.
>> Guess who's going to notice that.
>> It is what it is.
>> Nobody but you. Nobody but you.

>> It looks good. I kept it all the same.
At least for this side. My OCD.
>> That's all my OCD cares about. As long as it's the same.
>> Very much. [laughter] All right, it's the last step. Cutting off the uh excess rails.
Gary to the rescue, of course.
>> All right, hold on.
>> We got those cut already. David's driving a Uber, of course. Giving Gary a lift.
Just a few more to go. A little update.
Gary got up, cut off all the ends on the other side, put the end caps on, but we kept only getting about 1,500 2,000 watts on the 10 uh solar panels. And I was like, what is going on here? So, I looked in uh David's uh settings in the Jackary, and he had it on quiet charge, and that brought it up. But guess what we did? I said, wait a second. Why can't we just take 10 more panels and run them in parallel over to the Jackaryi? That's right, parallel. And uh then we'll have double the wattage, same voltage, and uh let the Jackary control the current. So, let's go see what it's doing. So, we can see I got them parallelled right here.
So, we have two strings of 10 going in.
We're still below 450 volts, which is the max for the Jackary 5000. The Jackary 5000 allows up to 4,000 watts on its high voltage input. What do we got, guys? What do we got? 3,940.
We have maxed this thing out. 4,000 watts coming in. David's a happy camper.
