This video beautifully illustrates how social bonds act as a vital sensory bridge, helping impaired animals regain their confidence and agency. It is a touching testament to the idea that companionship is often the most effective form of emotional and physical rehabilitation.

Lonely Dogs Fall Madly In Love |The Dog House
Added:Oh, who's this? Nala. I can see obviously she is blind.
>> She is, yes.
>> been like that since you got her? No, just a few months now.
About 6 months ago, one of her eyes went white.
And they couldn't do anything for that eye.
But then suddenly the the other eye, the right eye, started to go as well.
>> [music] >> She was in pain. They said there's nothing we can actually do. She's gone completely blind now. So, the only option really was to get her eyes removed and take the pain away.
But even though we knew that was the really only option, it was still horrible. Yeah, of course.
>> And you still feel guilty.
So, it was a big shock, but actually you think it was the best thing you could have done for her.
>> Has that affected her personality at all? She's a lot more cuddly.
But she's also a lot more anxious. She likes to lie on your leg or like lie close to you just so she knows that you're there.
It's like she's lost that spark that used to make her that bit crazier.
How would she feel about a brother?
Nala, what about a brother? Or a boyfriend?
>> [laughter] >> Do you want to know his name?
It's Coconut.
Coconut.
Which might give you a little clue as to what color he is.
>> is he white and fluffy by any chance? A little bit fluffy.
HOW OLD is he then? He's 5 months. Oh, [laughter] he's a At 5 months old he's not got a fixed idea about what other dogs should be like and how they should respond to him.
So, actually growing up with a blind dog, he's not going to know any different. Yeah, I hadn't ever thought about it like that. Yeah.
I'm hoping that another dog can show her how to experience the world in a way that we can't.
I'm going to meet new friends. And give Nala the insight to what kind of world still out there.
We want her to have every opportunity to enjoy life as much as she physically can.
You'll be on your best behavior.
Up.

Hi. Hi.
Goodness.
>> Yes.
Oh.
Who is this?
He's so lovely.
Good girl. Who is that?
Want to say hello?
Very keen to say hello.
>> Oh, yes, she is. So, Nala's blind, so she can't read any body language.
>> Right. Um But yeah, it's sweet.
>> trying to find him. Yeah, he's there.
Oh, Ethan, back away. Oh, I think Coconut's a bit worried.
Should we give him a bit of space? She's not going to hurt you.
>> She's really nice. She just can't see you.
>> I know. You're all right.
I think he's a bit scared of her at the minute. Yeah. I think he's just not sure of her. Not sure of her. Not sure. He may not understand that she's blind.
Hello.
Okay. Is it Okay.
It's difficult for her, I guess, cuz she can't see where he is. She has to get really close to know Ethan. Oh, bless her.
It's okay. She's just not sure, are you?
I think she likes him. I just think he's a bit unsure.
I think it would be great to get the family down just to see what they think.
Want to go and see? Let's go.
Yes.
>> Say hello. Well, hello, you. Hi.
Hi, Nala. Mom and Dad's here and Finn.
Have you found a friend? Thank you.
You're excited. She's very excited. I'm glad we're going to get to see you. Are you going to play now?
Hello. Hello.
Ready?
Hey.
You want to play?
Aw, that's so cute.
>> Oh my goodness, Kiko. You made a friend.
It's a doggy party. Aw, >> [laughter] >> that's so cute.
You're going to knock into that water bowl. Careful.
Oh, she put her foot in it.
Careful.
I don't doubt for a second [music] he can be trained. They'd be lovely together once he is.
Aw, Nala, where's your friend? [music] For Nala, the only thing I worry about is is she up for the challenge herself?
Good boy.
Good boy.
Bolt.
Nala.
Hello.
Yay.
Hi.
Hi, you two.
We thought he looked [music] like Bolt of the movie Bolt and it kind of just stuck.
From the moment we brought Bolt home, they've got on so perfectly. [music] They got in the car together. I think Nala knew he was a bit scared, so she put her paw over him >> [music] >> and that was it. They cuddled nearly all the way home. Not too fast.
Come on, then. He's built her confidence no end. Go and play.
She's attempted the zoomies and she's [music] hasn't done that for a long time. Bold has brought out Nala's inner [music] puppiness.
You know, that sort of cheekiness and silliness that she had lost, it's just back again, and I think she's much happier now.

>> [music] >> We found a little female dog, and she is a little dachshund.
>> [music] >> Oh my god, shut up.
>> [laughter] >> Shut up. Oh my god.
No way.
What's this? In the ball. Go.
Tinkerbell is one of the sweetest [music] and most friendly dogs. She's not phased by anything.
Got a sausage on the loose. Tinkerbell [music] is probably one of the best dogs that you can get for reading other dogs' body language. Uh like I said, if a dog does want to play with her, she's she wants to play, but if a dog tells her leave me alone, she says, "Okay, I'll leave you alone. I'm not going to push you." So, [music] she is very, very respectful of other dogs' spaces.
It's a good girl. Good little trot.
Come on, Box. Be good.
Going to meet a boyfriend. Yes, you are.
What a good job. Good tiny sausage legs.
Here we go.
Come here.
Who is that? Tinkerbell.
Look, I got a friend for you to meet.
Who is it?
Oh, look. nice.
Oh, good sniff. Oh, little sociable sausages.
There you go. Just take turns.
>> Little sniffs. Little lick. So far, so good. Yeah. Like his tail's going.
Oh, you like her. You got your sexy friendly ears on.
>> [laughter] >> Nice little bum sniffs.
Baxter, look, it's a girl. Little friend for you.
BAXTER, [laughter] WHAT'S THIS?
NO. OKAY, BABY. [laughter] Should we get your mom down here? I think that's probably a good idea.
>> [music] >> Look, who's that?
There she is.
Mommy.
He really is [music] a mommy's boy, isn't he?
>> [laughter] >> Right. We might get something out of him now you're here.
Here we go.
Here we go. Oh. She really wants to be your friend, Baxter.
Oh, you're not guarding mommy. Are we guarding mommy?
Baxter, come here.
What's he doing? That was interesting because he's gone, "Stay away from me." Now, that could have been that he felt vulnerable because his feet [music] weren't on the floor, or it could have been, "This is my mom, go away."
Good girl. [music] She's being so good.
Tinkerbell's dog etiquette is impeccable. And she's not being overbearing. No, she's not putting any pressure [music] on interaction.
She can sense he's not happy, so I will turn my back on him and give him some space. Aw, that makes me so sad.
She's like, "Are you going to play with me or what?"
>> [laughter] >> He's getting a little bit [music] closer at a time.
I think she's following and then she's like >> [laughter] >> But the more relaxed he gets, the more relaxed she is about maybe approaching him.
Oh, that's nice.
Good boy. He's like intrigued with her.
There you go. Good girl. That's really lovely. I'm happy with that.
By the time I got back to the car, I knew what we were going to do.
Absolutely, we got her.
>> [laughter] >> Of course we did.
Yay.
Now I've got double trouble.
Come on, guys. This way. This way.

We think we might have found a dog, Sammy.
His real selling [music] point is how he behaves around dogs. He loves dogs.
You're going to meet your friend.
I think he'd love to meet Sammy. Yeah. I think the look on your face says he'd love to meet Sammy.
>> Sammy, yeah. [laughter] Sammy.
Where's she gone, Sammy?
>> [laughter] >> Ah, they've lost each other.
Sammy is a socialite and loves being around dogs, having a good time, and you know, every day is a party.
I don't think [music] many dogs interact as uh beautifully as Sammy does.
We are really looking for a home for Sammy with another dog because dogs make him feel safe.
Look at those beautiful eyes.
He had a turbulent [music] upbringing with people.
Sammy had to endure physical and emotional turmoil.
Dogs haven't done that [music] to him.
Dogs have been consistent and dogs have been fun and they've played with him and they've made him feel good.
Sammy has made so many friends since he's been here.
But they always get [music] rehomed.
And Sammy is the one left.
Where is she gone?
Where is your pal?
You can just see the sadness in his eyes.
You ready, Sammy? Good boy. Well done.
He just really [music] longs for his forever home with another dog.
Oh, come on.
Suspense is killing me.
Maxie, come on, darling.
You such a good boy.
Are we ready?
Oh.
Oh my god.
Hello.
>> Hi.
>> Hi.
Sammy. Hey. Sammy.
Very interesting smells. Oh, bless him.
>> [laughter] >> His favorite thing in the world is dogs.
He's probably had about seven kennel friends.
Sammy will steal your heart but he will steal your things. Oh, [laughter] bless him. Here he is banking it on cue.
>> [laughter] >> Hi.
Hey guys, I'm Maxie.
Oh, bless him.
Thank you.
>> [laughter] >> He's a proper retriever in nature.
Retriever by name, retriever by nature.
>> [laughter] >> Oh, we're having an umbrella now. Oh, you're a very fancy boy.
>> [laughter] >> Sammy. Sammy. Sammy, what's this?
Sammy, what's this? What's this, Sammy?
What's this?
Oh my god.
>> [laughter] >> Come here. Come here. Come here. Sammy, let's go. Come here, no any treats now.
He's quite full on, isn't he, Sammy? I'm just really worried that Max is going to find that difficult, you know. It's all okay. It's all okay, Max. It's all okay.
Good boy. Not the carrier bag.
>> [laughter] >> When it comes to matching dogs, one of the biggest [music] worries is if if you have got a really, really boisterous dog. Oh, he's going to have your scarf in a minute, I think.
Another dog [music] might find that really quite intimidating. It can be tense.
>> [music] >> I just hope and pray that him and Max are good. Yeah.
Oh, he's lovely, isn't he? Yeah, he's a nice boy.
Right, Max, are you ready to meet your [music] new bro? Yay.
Oh, here we go.
His tail's going.
He's very excited.
Hi, [laughter] Max.
Hi, gorgeous. Hey.
I know, I know, [laughter] I know, isn't he lovely?
This is exactly what we want to see. We want to see that [music] excited, boisterous, fun play. I've never seen him play like this before. Yeah, he just never given the chance to play. Oh, so this is all really new for Max. Yeah, he I don't think he's ever had the chance to play properly like a puppy. Perfect.
Human beings, we've got so much of a a wall, so much of a barrier when it comes to meeting [music] new people, but with dogs, they don't have that.
I think it was a perfect match. I think so.
Max gives him the seal of approval, I think.
Come on.
Max wanted a friend.
The second he met Stanley, it was just pure happiness from his tail. Never stopped wagging.
It was a no-brainer.
We picked him up the next day.
>> [laughter] >> Go on then.
They were best of friends.
Exactly what Max needed. He was the final piece to the puzzle, wasn't he?
>> [bell]
