While navigating stadium congestion is a notable technical feat, anecdotal success in heavy traffic shouldn't be mistaken for the systemic reliability required for true autonomy. It remains a sophisticated demonstration of progress that still sidesteps the deeper complexities of unpredictable urban environments.

Can Tesla FSD Handle World Cup Traffic?
Added:Hey y'all, welcome back to Rock and Ride's Tesla. In this video, I'm going to take my Tesla to the Atlanta World Cup Stadium. There's a game that's about to start between South Africa and Czechia.
And I just want to drive down to the stadium or ride down to the stadium to see what it's like. I'm not going to the game, but want to see how FSD performs driving in some probably pretty crazy traffic and just check out the World Cup environment. So, let's go ahead and add this to the navigation.
I already looked it up, so it's right here.
And let's see what we have. We are in Cumberland um Cumberland area of Atlanta, which is northwest of Atlanta.
Saying it'll take us 28 minutes to get there and let's go. 11 miles away.
Right now I am on a 18.5 mile FSD streak. And we'll see if we can add another 11 miles to that.
It is currently Thursday 11:23 a.m.
Check the routes.
Definitely looks pretty backed up going on the down count downtown connector on 75/85. So, we looks like we're going to take Northside Drive.
Abrupt stop there. We are at the intersection of Powers Ferry and Windy Ridge.
We'll actually be going right here is Truist Park. Let's go to the satellite image.
Right here is Truist Park.
Home of the Atlanta Braves.
Just had a few work meetings in the area and now going to hop on 75 south.
75 south for 5 and 1/2 miles then take Northside Drive down to the stadium.
We'll see if I can even get that close.
I'm just going to drive by it. Check out the World Cup um action, see what's going on.
And show you all what that's like. I've never been to I've been to this venue before for football games, but have never been to a World Cup match and may need to go to one of these matches in Atlanta.
Just to say I've been to the World Cup.
It's not very often that the World Cup is in your town.
This will be a good test too. We're driving down.
It's a big event going on and this will really put FSD to the test in some heavy traffic situations.
So we are shortly getting on I-75 south.
And I'm actually surprised it's saying it's only going to take 23 minutes to get there. And you're not seeing a lot of you see a little orange there, but you're not seeing a lot of a bad traffic on the navigation. If it was bad, it would be yellow and red.
But it's only a little yellow, so I guess a lot of people are probably already in the stadium or they're they took um Marta, which is the public transportation in Atlanta, the train and the bus.
So I imagine most of the people are probably already there. So that is so that may work out uh very well for me in getting down there uh promptly.
See the Cumberland sign right there?
Cumberland Business District.
>> [music] >> Uh we did not drive by the Braves stadium, but it is over in that area.
Got a Model Y next to us.
Hopping on the interstate here, I wanted to share with you all which version of software we're running.
This is software 2026.14.6.11.
FSD version 14.3.4.
So, this is the latest software that is out as of this date.
We can switch back to this version if you want, if this is easier for you all to see.
Seeing the whole ride with 49%.
Just crossed over the Chattahoochee River.
Again, the car is doing all the driving.
I don't have to touch the turn signals, the pedal, any of the navigation. It is totally hands-free.
All I need to do is keep my eyes on the road and it will get me from the parking lot that I started at all the way to the stadium.
We're driving in the standard speed profile. You see that right here.
I can adjust that by scrolling up and down on this right scroll wheel.
The standard is best. Uh you'll do about five or so over the speed limit, maybe a little more.
And in that speed profile, it will allow you it will nag you the least. Meaning, nagging meaning, "Hey, flashing blue, pay attention." Or even, you know, nudge the steering wheel.
So, standard is, you know, kind of just the standard speed profile here.
So, we are going 72 in a 65 uh easily with the flow of traffic.
Have any police officer right there.
Department of Public Safety, actually.
It's still law enforcement.
Driving by uh Buckhead right now, West Paces Ferry Road.
This used to be my exit. I used to live off this exit in Buckhead.
So far, so good with the traffic.
And this will adjust real time, too.
You know what? Let's go in the traffic downtown. It's saying it's 1 minute faster. And I want to put the uh the car in FSD through the test. So, we're going to drive through the thick stuff to see how it performs and to show you all what it's like in the, uh, live or real world test with World Cup traffic on a Thursday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia.
See the Atlanta skyline up ahead.
Midtown Atlanta.
It really is nice to just be able to sit back here and relax and let the car handle the route, the driving, and everything.
Let me, please, uh, share your thoughts on what you think about FSD if you are a Tesla owner or if you don't have one.
If you have any questions, I'd love to hear them in the comments.
Also, if you are, uh, if you're watching the World Cup and, what what your opinion opinion of it has been.
So, despite this being, you know, orange orange and red, meaning heavy traffic, it's saying it's the fastest route except for this option, but we want to drive through through the thick stuff to see how uh Tesla FSD does.
And it looks like we'll be getting into that traffic shortly.
Let me know in the comments which you trust or have you used Tesla FSD to take you to a big event, whether it be a World Cup game in this instance, or even, you know, a football game, basketball game, baseball game, concert.
And how has it performed for you?
Did it do well in the heavy traffic, finding parking?
Sometimes they close roads, so it's not normal traffic flows. What's your experience been?
And do you think it'd be nice to be able to have a car that could drive you to and from um big events like this?
The Midtown skyline right here.
And now we are about to merge with I-85.
Really incredible stuff what this car do. It's just so smooth and effortless. I feel like this is just very effortless traveling.
Low stress, low anxiety, low effort.
I get to relax. I can be productive.
And it will get me door-to-door.
HNTB. I'm not sure what that stands for.
It's a building up there.
What does that stand for? HNTB.
I mean, I've seen worse traffic on this section of road in under just a normal day.
And you know, we're moving, you know, pretty well.
Now, we'll see what happens when we get off the exit.
But so far, so good.
Just sitting here, legs crossed, sitting back and letting the car do everything.
Current broadcasting right there.
CNN, HBO, TBS, all the channels.
Ernst & Young has a nice office building.
A lot of big business around here.
NCR headquarters right there.
I mean, this is one of the busiest segments of road in the country, 75 85.
Driving through the heart of Atlanta.
And we have Georgia Tech here on our right.
Yeah, if you don't live in Atlanta, this could be very stressful and hectic driving through this part of town.
A lot of different exits.
Cars switching lanes constantly.
Stop and go traffic, but not a problem for me.
What else do we have? Norfolk Southern right there.
The Olympic torch.
Varsity restaurant right there.
And we're coming up on downtown Atlanta.
So, we've been on the road 18 minutes.
You see that right here. Saying we've got another 6 minutes to go. So, getting from my point of origin to the stadium in 24 minutes uh right before a World Cup match is pretty good.
You can add a 22.4 mile trip. And will they will they go right here?
Now, it's not going to go across that white line like that car ahead of me did.
The Georgia Aquarium ahead of us.
Then we have the National Center for Civil and Human Rights right there.
Car's doing a fantastic job.
You know, I'm here looking around at the buildings and eyes are on the road, but mine is elsewhere.
>> I'm kind of just shocked how open this road is right now.
There's the stadium. You can see the top of it over there.
>> [clears throat] >> Some soccer fans.
>> [cough] >> Excuse me.
We go left here shortly, so car needs to make its way to the left lane.
There it is.
Now we're starting to see some more soccer people.
This Argentinian fans.
Quite an advertisement there on the Signia Hilton Hotel There it is.
So they took off all of the Mercedes Mercedes-Benz advertising.
Then we need to go up here, right past the stadium, go left. Let's go up, pull over.
So there's the stadium right up there on the left.
Yeah, I'm shocked how open the roads are right now.
I guess the game does start in the match does start. There it is.
Pretty cool.
It's a very neat stadium if you've never been.
So now I just adjusted the route. Let's see how it gets us out of here.
Nicely done going around that vehicle.
We'll see if we can go left here and if I can get you all a few more shots of the stadium.
If you found this video interesting or useful, please be sure to give it a like and consider subscribing to the channel if you don't already. We're about to get cut off here by this Corolla.
It's navigating around these parking cones, no problem. Again, zero interventions. It's all the car.
And I thought there would be a lot more traffic, but there's not.
This Corolla really enjoys cutting me off.
These are all new buildings in the area, Forest Centennial Yards.
A lot of security out here, which is good to see.
>> And that is a drive using Tesla FSD to the Atlanta stadium for the World Cup.
Traffic was much better than anticipated and the car and FSD performed beautifully. Would appreciate if you all have any comments or questions, please leave those below. And until I talk to you all next time, be safe.
