His 392 Wouldn’t Start… Now We Had to Get It Out

[00:00:00][music] [music] [music] [music] >> All right, so that today is Thursday. Um we've been out here for almost a week now. Tomorrow will be a week. Today we're going to do pretty mellow trail.

[00:00:36]It's uh Porcupine Rim. At least we're thinking it's going to be mellow.

[00:00:40]Uh I haven't done this one since about 2011 or 12.

[00:00:43]So uh yeah, Adan unfortunately has to leave today, so we need to be off trail kind of early. We figured we'd do something where we just get a quick run in and then maybe we'll go down to the vendor area.

[00:04:55]Last day and figured we'd have a nice easy day, bit of a scenic one before head on. Here we had to head over to Salt Lake City and visit his wife and kids. Tell us what happened.

[00:05:04]>> The hood is up because we we stopped and I needed to take a 10-100, a leak.

[00:05:10]I went [laughter] and then when I came back the car went and it didn't start. So, I called the team. I called Jaden, which is our mechanic here and uh we can't get it to start. We tried disconnecting the battery, connecting it to both together. We tried the fuse box.

[00:05:26]We tried the computer with the codes and >> All sorts of stuff. Tried just about everything. And yep, Shane's starting.

[00:05:32]>> Mhm.

[00:05:32]>> Uh apparently it's not the the only 300 out here that's having some issues that are similar to this. So, yeah, not sure what's going on, but we've called Roy from the offer of recovery.

[00:05:43]Um he'll tow it out and yeah, we'll figure out how we're going to get you to Salt Lake City, so his wife's already losing her mind. [laughter] >> I know. She thinks it's an excuse to stay out here longer, which I pulled off before, so I can't blame her.

[00:05:56]>> Yeah, doesn't doesn't sound good. We can get it to to tick over and kind of keep your foot into the gas and it's it's it's bad. It's got a horrible miss.

[00:07:32]>> We got the Rebel Off Road towing service just holding it far enough so that we can get it to the actual tow truck that's going to come out here and pull the Don's 392 out of here.

[00:08:02]So Evan flew the drone out so he could see the tow trucks and he said it was how far?

[00:09:24]>> [music] [music] [music] >> That was so cool. That thing was three-wheeling and teetering and >> They got technical with it. They They were trying to get up the obstacle and it got stuck. The dude starts putting a winch on on one hook and then it like the crane winch on the other one and like backing up and lifting it off and then he starts going on three wheels.

[00:11:25]Pretty crazy.

[00:11:26]>> And he's uh the guy said nine nine years and he's never done a recovery on this trail. That was realistically the only like kind of section that like where we didn't really want to pull it out.

[00:12:19]>> [music] [music] >> All right, we just finished up the uh the trail today. It was an interesting one. We were out on Forky Five Rim and one of the vehicles actually blew its motor. It was a stock motor in a 392 and she's dead.

[00:12:52]Um so yeah, that thing got towed off.

[00:12:53]But the owner of the vehicle was with us and uh he wanted to have a tow, so we called up the tow mater. Those guys came out. Here Hooked it up.

[00:13:00]>> Yeah, today was awesome. I uh thoroughly enjoyed it. Just wish we didn't have to deal with that car at the end. That kind of sucked. Uh but Adan is in good spirits, that's all that matters. Uh we'll leave it here and it'll get towed back to to his place in San Diego.

[00:13:13]Uh and then we're going to uh Bods going to go do the night run with Evan and with Casey.
