Added:Did you know some plants can actually digest you alive? Not eat, digest. Well, that's exactly what we're breaking down today. Meet the pitcher plant. Its rim is coated in slick wax, turning any curious bug into an instant ice skater.
One wrong step and gravity takes over.
There's no climbing back out. This slide only goes one direction, down.
At the bottom waits a pool of digestive enzymes, slowly dissolving anything that falls in, just like your own stomach.
The plant absorbs nitrogen and mineral from the goo. It's basically farming bugs for plant bugs for plant food.
These plants grow in nutrient poor swamps. So trapping bugs became their genius backup meal plan.
[laughter] Next up, the sundue. Those sparkly droplets look like candy, but they're actually glue traps in disguise.

The Venus fly trap has tiny trigger hairs. Touch two, touch two within 20 seconds and snap, THE JAWS SLAM SHUT INSTANTLY. Once sealed, the trap forms an air light and airtight stomach and digestive juices start flooding in almost immediately.
Digestion can take up to 10 days. Then the trap reopens. Empty shell blown away, ready to reset.

After catching prey, the bladder pumps water back out, resetting the trap for its very next victim. [panting] Giant tropical pitcher plants collect rainwater inside, big enough to trap and even drown small frogs.
Tiny bacteria inside help break down trapped prey faster, turning drowned bugs into liquid plant food. [music] One bladder wart plant can fire hundreds of traps daily, making it one of nature's making it one of nature's most efficient hunters ever.
This monster flower isn't a trap, but it smells like death to lure flies straight into its pollen ambush. Flies think they've found a rotting carcass.
Instead, they get coated in pollen and tricked completely.
[snorts] Butter warts use greasy, sticky leaves like fly paper, trapping tiny insects that land for just one second.
Enzymes seep out and slowly dissolve the trapped bug, absorbing nutrients directly through the leaf surface.
Could one eat a human? No way. Even giant pitcher plants only digest small animals, never anything humans sized.

Surprisingly, cobra liies don't even make their own enzymes. Bacteria inside do all the digesting instead.

Meet the King Sundu, the largest sundue alive with sticky tentacled arms reaching reaching over a foot long.
Once stuck, the tentacle slowly curls inward over hours, pulling the moth closer to more sticky glue.
