Added:Hello honeys. The swuff falls back the state of me. Look at my head. Look how long it is.
Anyway, anyway, back to the car cuz you've all wanted to see the progress of the KA. Maybe all of you. I don't know.
As you see in the last video, the front end is all lined up. So, this video is going to be about the back end.
The back end.
So, I'm going to move that leg forward, put it underneath the front somewhere as far as it'll go forward on the subframe.
So, the that's taking all the weight out of the engine. The back end because there's nothing in it.
Get away. The back end then should be all right on my new inner sill. Maybe, maybe not. But if it bends, it doesn't matter. I can straighten it up. They say there's no weight in the back end until this is in. But I need to measure that against I can use a big ass airplane.
Should have a minute. That took a while, didn't it? So measure that one over there. You can't see it cuz the light handbrake.
So measure from the center of that wheel up to the center of that arch. And then from the middle of the wheel to the back of the metal bit of the arch. And then do the same. Then I do on the metal bit because that bit isn't connected. So if I do off the metal bit, I know that hasn't moved.
So I'm thinking I [clears throat] just wire wheeled. Well, first of all, I needle shoot it. Oh no, the needle shooter. There's lots come off. Lots and lots. hole for death, the subframe, the mounts. So, I do [snorts] have to make new ones of these cuz this is rotten and rotten and rotten all the way. Well, you can't see it because my light bit there. No, I don't do that. Anyway, I think think I may have to chop that there anyway. So, I'm going to make new ones of those.
Make it strong. Nice. Blah. And then I have put after cleaning it all with a wire wheel, which is horrible. My back's hurting now.
I treated it all with some rust treatment. Not mentioning no names because they won't [ __ ] sponsor me.
Same again. I got to go to the shop now.
So, let this dry and by the time I come back, it'll be nice and dry and treated.
But again, Monster won't sponsor me. Red Bull won't sponsor me. So, I got to go and buy my own. So, see you in a bit.
I'm in a position that you haven't seen yet. Oh, I haven't seen actually. This is the first time it's been up there.
But guess what? Cars up in here and it's all one. Taa.
It didn't fall apart.
So, I've been busy over here. She's all looking right now with nice edge primer all along it. Pretty much good.
So now what I got to do is I got to move our drum out the way. Move our 10 mil out away. I'm going to keep that there because I will be honest with you, the tunnel does still have a little bit of movement because obviously nothing on the back is welded together. So this bit goes I don't know whether you can see on the camera because I'm probably moving. But yeah, the center bit has got a little bit of droop.
Pardon [clears throat] me. So obviously the front seat bits up by there, they're parallel level with the laser level both sides, but obviously the back after those bits isn't welded. So this bit has got a bit of whatever you want to go with. So I'm going to keep that there.
at a No, I'm going to move that actually move that away a minute because I got to put that underneath it to work out where it's got a bloody wall.
So, yeah, this is all trial and error.
As you see, nothing is planned.
I'm literally going doing as I go. Got many. So, well, building a car, you a laser level, a box, and one of those black jacks are pretty much essential.
And on a tape measure, I never ever ever trust body lines or body um what are they called?
Things.
So, as you see, I now have my laser level set up perfectly. And before anyone mentions, right, I've done loads and loads of measurements. You got to obviously make sure that laser level is perfectly in the middle because if it's not perfectly in the middle of whatever you're doing, you picture now, right?
So, [clears throat] I'm not moving it because it's set up where I need it to be.
But if you shoot, so if I was stood by with a laser lever, right, and then got that line in the middle of say the diff, the rest of the red line is going to be over there, then go at that angle maybe.
Or yeah, you do you get me? So you got to make sure your measurements from things that are solid. So obviously the subframe mounts I've measured from, I've measured from the tank straps and stuff.
So make sure those measurements are perfectly in line with so it's a perfect triangle then otherwise your lay your line isn't going to be in the right place. So I literally searched everywhere for that and literally 1 hour later. Right. So I done the measuring now it's 133 from there to there.
And then I done some measuring from here.
[ __ ] off now. Willow to there is 140.
So yeah, it's still a lot wider.
So the top of the suspension is 40 140.
So half a 133 is me. Show me show you a tip. If you're [ __ ] at maths, right?
Like you fold the tape measure, right? I'm not doing it one hand. Fold the tape measure in half to whatever the measurement is and then look where the fold is basically. So if it was 60, then the fold would be on 30. Obviously, it's not to the precision measurement, but you get the idea of what the half is.
And then you can work it out. Then if it's say like a quarter, you can work it out. It's half of a quarter. So yeah, you get me. And where I've been walking on the wood now, it's moved out of place. It don't matter now cuz I got the line there and the line down with there.
So that's meant. So now half of 133 is 66 and a half based on my 40 trick with both hands.
So then you got to work out from what is do. So, get the laser level into the middle. I'm only showing you now because, like I said, it's out of shape. So, get the laser level into the middle of the edge of it. And 66 and 12 is right down there. As you see, 66 and 1/2 right down there. So, the outer bolt of that is going to be non-existent.
So, I'm going to line that up again now and then mark wherever it is. So, there I'm guessing looking like the tank will still fit, which is a good thing.
And then I will use the laser level then again to put the line down there. So, it's a nice straight line.
This heat really isn't doing me good. I swear to God, it makes my head fry.
Edited melted like. So, yeah. I'm going to do what I just said and then show you when I've cut it basically.
So, why is it upside down?
Start again. So, just come to the conclusion this is going to be a little bit harder than I thought. So, as you see, it is still not in the middle of the thing yet. I got too much light on for you to be able to see the laser level.
Nearly, but not. And then when we come inside, as you can see, h yeah, it's quite a bit that's got to be cut out.
And so that our wheels are lined up there abouts. Now there's leveled it from the center of there up to the center of there. Sorry, center of there.
But obviously I can't use the measurements from there yet because it's nowhere near. It's like what's that? One, two, three. Yeah, big inches.
A lot of space. So now I got my laser level there set up along all the spot welds.
So this going to be a rough cut.
Quite a bit has to come out. And as I can't even get up there as you may see.
Can you see it with any where you do?
I don't know. as you can see, is going literally just behind the prop bearing. So, it might be okay, but I don't know yet. So, I'll mark that up. Chop it off.
Chop it off a centimeter further that way, I think. Maybe.
Yeah, I'll work it out now. Chop [clears throat] it off somewhere a little bit further back, possibly.
I I don't know. I don't know. I'll work it out now. So, chop it off and then that should slot in sort of the back is a little bit tight, but it depends what angle you look at it. It is that way. It doesn't It's meant It's that way. It's not. So, once it's down further, I'll be able to see. So that side when I chopped an extra inch out, that's half about. But that side I didn't chop an extra inch out and it's not. So yeah, I won't lie. First test fit test fit didn't go as planned. So I've chopped a lot more off the back end because the shape of that bit with that bit and that bit didn't match that bit.
So, I've made it that shape. I'm No, actually, I am going to trim that rounded a bit, but there I think just cuz it looks neater. No, I don't know. Yeah. So, I'm going to trim that bit now just so it looks a bit neater.
No, I'm not. I leave it like that. I'm going to clean this edge with the wire wheel cuz I'm going to make my own back part of the wheel arch because this wheel arch is too big and I'd never be able to get the lights in and stuff.
So, yeah.
Second test fit. [clears throat] I'm going to put it down and hopefully it'll slot into place.
Why did I want to put such a big fuel tank in it?
Now I'm not going to have no seat belts cuz as you see they come out a lot further than the fuel tanks.
So now if I get pulled over by the policeman and I say why haven't I got no seat belts? Cuz I got such a big fuel tank. What an idiot.
Idiot. I should have chopped those off.
Look.
See? Told you I should have. No I didn't. Did I? But I'm going to chop those off now, the seat belt mounts, because they are too bloody.
Um, it is having bucket seats anyway. So, yeah, harness bars in it. I love harnesses in it. I did want to use the original seat belts cuz harnesses are a pain in the ass, but unless I make another mounting bracket and stuff like that cuz bear in mind our cave back end stops by here. Stops by here.
So yeah, great fun in it. Why did I do this to myself? So I haven't showed you these bits cuz it's bloody pointless.
Just up and down, up and down, up and down. [clears throat] So I've chopped those bits out.
It's gone up and down again. And I reshaped the back end a bit more. As you see, now there's nothing but there to piss me off and there to piss me off.
I've decided that I'm going to chop all the inside of it out. Anyway, so like my like my little auto testing one, it's all stripped out.
So, it's all bare like that.
As you see, there's nothing on the inside of this one. So, that's what that one's going to be like.
This little beast.
She's got the Sport K engine, but it's 920 kg, so it goes quite well to be fair. That keeps staring at me. Honest to God. He's like, "Come on, strip me.
Slap me.
Look at the V8. Nah. Going to sleep.
Right. So, anybody wants any bits out of this anyway? This is for breaking. It's going to be here a while until I take the engine out of it, I think. So, yeah, that's a green one. So, right back to where I was. It was too high up in here for me to chop any more out.
Anyway, so that's as far as I could reach. So, it's staying that that high a minute. Once all the floors in, then I'll strip it out like the black one.
Make it light. This one might actually be the fastest K I've built yet. I've done the um the Quattro one, which is 430 brake, but that weighed 1.2 ton. So, I wonder how heavy this will be after it's all stripped out with a cage. You obviously haven't got a four-wheel drive system, but it's got a big ass V8. So, I don't know yet. 327 brake maybe. Maybe maybe might be faster. I don't know. Really lethal. Anyway, we're just being in rear wheel drive it.
Anyway, back to stop [ __ ] talking.
Right. So, now I'm going to lower it down again.

So, she slots over. That bit bends out like that. Lovely. And then it sits in.
That's very tight. I do have might have to chop some off that, but until it's down low enough, I can't do the measurements on the wheels. So, at the minute, let it bend. Right. Oh, she catching on the back. Now, you bastard.
I say you can't go too much lower than that.
You think I have to?
So yeah, fun. Do you know while I was filming that bit, right, I actually did chip myself a little bit cuz I noticed something. I noticed that that front part is a like on that floor is a lot higher than that should be and I was like a bollocks. So that's why I ended that last clip because I was like that's not fitting. I don't know why but something I just realized. So obviously the back end does have to go down a little bit more but not a lot because the wheels are sitting quite nice for a standard height like but that's what I realized the front wheels of the floor because the front's on the subframe.
So to be level it's got to be that much.
So that's why I [ __ ] myself because if you look there, it's about that much. There is about that much. So yeah, what I'm going to do now is I'm going to level the car out, which I should have done originally because obviously that back part that I've put in now, that is so I done the measurements of when the angle measurements for when the car was a complete BM. So where that angle bit there is what the complete BM was supposed to be right you understand that bit cuz I'm trying to fart about [snorts] what am I doing like in it I'm supposed to be doing this professionally can't talk so I'm going to block that up now to make it level to make it the same height then it should fit but the way I'm not going to lie to you it's done my [ __ ] pip in now really d my head The shocks, the shocks of the BM, right, don't line up with where the shocks were on the KA.
So, let's just do my head, you know. So, as you can see, the wheels are too far forward and it's all the way back here. I chopped out that block thing there that was bare and bare. Hoping it give me more room.
But now I've got it in the right place in the front. No, it's not in the right place in the front. It's got to come back further, haven't it?
It's frying my pip now. Trial and error in it. So, what I think I'm going to do now, I'm going to make my own shock mounts. I'm having what [clears throat] they called? I'm having a cage in it.
Anyway, the shocks are shocks. They just shock.
As long as the subframe is there, I can pretty much chop out all the rest of that anyway, which I think is what I'm going to do because I'm trying to fit it all in to make it all look like a floor of a car. But I do metal work, so I can make my own floor, can't I? So, as long as I got embeds for subframe bolt under there, cuz that's nothing. That doesn't do nothing.
That is just a brace between the middle of it, which I'm going to keep. I think I'm just going to chop off there by there because it's totally different shape. [clears throat] Sorry about my croakiness. It's a totally different shape to the back of the K. Anyway, I'm not going to be able to get my lights in and out.
So all that's coming off because it's doing my nuting. Yeah. Would you look at that?
[snorts] Welded in this heat is not nice.
So the both back wheels I can't there.
Sorry. The both back wheels now are in exactly the right place. So it shouldn't crab going down the road. We have exactly the same measurements for I'm pointing. I'm looking through my eye.
Exactly the same measurements from the edge of the rim to the edge of the front rim which is exactly the same which is 101.1 mil I think it was if I remember right I think. Yeah I think it was. And I'm to be honest with you, right, I'm really surprised that those little bits of metal that I fatally tacked welded it did to the rear um quarter, which is not even connected to the inner part because it's rotten as you see. I'm surprised that's holding up that back end.
So, we got a little bit of blob along the top of there. A little bit of a blob across the top of there. And that's literally all that's holding that back end in. And it's quite strong there now.
So, what I've been doing, let me just unplug this aine a minute because it's do my head again.
What I've been doing is welding the rear part in the floor. I did make a mistake.
I will be honest with you. So, remember when I said that I'm going to chop that front bit out and stuff? This bit, make it shorter. So, that's whatever inches shorter it is with the straight line. Look, that one was the original cut off.
Yeah, I cut it a little bit too short.
Only like a centimeter.
But I've added now a 2-in plate in there. I could, you know, right? I could have just used a part of that. It would have been a lot easier probably. Well, it wouldn't have. It would have been well probably more work actually to clean all that off and the rubbery shite, but it's already got the shapes of it.
So, I got 0.8 plate there into the same thickness as the floor and made my own shape along it as you see to follow the original lines of the floor. But yeah, I think I [snorts] we officially have a rear wheel drive KA. Although I can't show you because that doesn't run no more because I chopped all the wiring.
Yeah, there's no wiring in there at all now for me to get that engine running. I could have just left the ECU plug plugged in, but maybe being me, I didn't. saying there's no fuel lines anyway, no prop shaft, blahy blahy blah.
Cuz obviously the prop shaft has to be a lot shorter.
So I think it's that time now to end it by here because this might be a bit of a long one. Oh yeah. So since the last time you see me on this part of the video, I've had an air cut and a beard cut and I got my top knot in. Not because I want a top knot. It's because my hair in this weather sweating it goes down everywhere. It literally comes down to my nose there. So, one day you will I will you'll see me with my big bloomer walk cuz it's very long. So yeah, uh it'll be a case of like taking off the rear bumper, rebuilding the rust on the back end and stuff like that. So it'll be basically just joining it all together. But obviously I need to put the roll cage in first because it's well you can't see that bit there. I got to connect it to Oh, there.
Got to connect it to there. um the front the front of the rear subframe, the top of the shock mounts, the bottom of the floor in front where my like feet feet go and in front of the fuel tank. I'm looking at over there and I'm Yeah. So that's where my Sorry, do apologize. So yeah, roll cage will be next. I know you've already seen a roll cage video, but this one's going to be a full full full on big balls freaking hard to get in roll cage. Strong one to hold everything together. And then once all that is done, there will be a lot more cutting out of metal to try and make it as light as possible.
So, as I said previously in this video, possibly if I can get it light enough, it might be faster than the KA Quattro I built. 427 327 1.2 ton and this might be well depended if I can get a lighter power to weight ratio and stuff, smaller wheels, blahy blahy blah. But I doubt I'll ever be able to have a race with it cuz it's up in Scotland somewhere. So, yeah.
