Zepbound Week 3 After VSG | Low Appetite, Nausea & Vomiting… Real WIEIAD
Added:Good morning. So, today is Monday, January Oh, [ __ ] Good morning. Today is Monday, June 8th.
And if you're new here, my name is Latrice. I had vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery on July 9th, 2024.
And so, I'm almost 2 years post-op. And so, um I like to share what my life has been like, whether that's different recipes, different products I'm trying, a little bit of gardening, all the things. And so, if that sounds good to you, please make sure you like, share, comment, and subscribe. And make sure you turn on your notification bell so you can be informed when I post new video. And so, um I started um Zepbound um because I want to lose about 40-45 more pounds. And um So, this is week three of Zepbound. And so, I am about to do my weekly injection with you guys. And I need to eat breakfast.
Um Of course, I am drinking this um this Nury Nury coffee-flavored protein shake.
Um and so, that's what I've been drinking so far as a morning snack. Still don't have like hunger. Like I don't the hunger cues are not there, which it sounds like the medicine is doing what it's supposed to do. Um And so, yeah, I just eat cuz I know I'm supposed to eat, not necessarily because I'm hungry.
Um and so, yeah, we're about to do this injection.
I meet with the I have an intake with the CVS Caremark people next week.
Cuz they as part of my health plan with Aetna, or CVS Caremark. I have to meet with a registered dietitian.
I think they said at least once a month or something like that to go over health goals and stuff like that in order to get the insurance to pay for the Zepbound.
So, yeah, let's get this injection going, y'all. All right, so we going to do the abdomen again because I have on pants and I don't want to change. So, uh Just going to put some rubbing alcohol. I'm going to do the other side.
I think last time I did the right side.
And so this time I'm going to do the left.
Okay.
Taking my gray cap off.
Putting it on the injection site.
Unlock.
Press.
All right, so that part is done and um y'all seen this outfit before. I got this these pants from Savage X Fenty and it's just like a oversized uh sweater that goes with it.
Um but I do have some clothes a bunch of I still need to try on those clothes from Shein. I had bought some shorts from Torrid that I need to try on and I bought a few things from Old Navy that I need to try on. So, I'm going to do that eventually.
All right, so I just spent some time in the garden. It stopped raining, finally.
Um everything looks beautiful. I'll try to put some pictures in the community section for you guys to see just what the garden looks like. So, it doesn't always have to be within the video, but I'm about to eat. Finally about to eat breakfast. I'm going to eat one uh Amy Lu maple chicken sausage patty and two turkey two slices of turkey bacon. I am going to eat some of this uh Lewis Shop protein bread. I'm going to toast it up and put some jam on it.
And I'm going to eat a boiled egg.
All right, so it is lunchtime. I did not have a morning snack. Um but I am eating lunch.
And so I have two tacos here on those keto-friendly tortillas. And so I have a shrimp taco.
It has three jumbo shrimps on it with some pickled red onions, some fresh lettuce from the garden, and a little bit of cilantro. And then the other one is it has some um salmon that we put on the grill. Both the shrimp and the salmon were on the grill. And I just put the same toppings on those on that one. And so this is what I'm about to eat.
All right, so good evening. I actually cut off early today. Typically on Mondays and Tuesdays, I get off at 8:00, but it was a lighter schedule today and I am so grateful for that cuz let me just tell you, the last clip you guys saw was me eating the shrimp taco and the salmon taco. And so, I I didn't end up finishing all of it.
Um but then maybe 5 minutes later, my stomach was hurting really, really bad and I got really, really nauseous.
The first time on this medication, I Okay.
Long story short, I ended up throwing it up, unfortunately.
Um first time experiencing that after taking the Zepbound and um like my stomach was hurting really, really bad and it just wasn't working out. And so, I Yeah, about 5 minutes later, I threw that up, unfortunately.
Um but I feel better. Now, I'm about to try to eat again. Um and well, I should probably eat bland food. Um I'm going to eat a salad cuz that I want to eat what I want to eat. And so, I'm going to eat some salad with some fresh lettuce from the garden.
And so, I'm going to have salad with fresh greens from the garden and then I'm going to I got one of these uh Just Bare lightly breaded chicken breast fillets that I have in the oven on the air fryer setting and I'm going to eat that with the salad and um I'm going to use this Olive Garden light Italian dressing.
Um which surprisingly has less fat than some of the G Hughes salad dressings. It has 30 It's 30 calories per 2 Tbsp.
2 g of fat.
Um two carbs, zero fiber, 2 g of sugar and that includes 2 g of added sugar, zero protein. So, it's not bad compared to like the fat is relatively low on there.
And so, for example, I have this G. Hughes sugar-free sweet [clears throat] vinaigrette. And so, this is 60 calories per 2 tbsp, 6 g of fat, and that is one one saturated fat, zero trans fat. So, this has zero saturated fat.
Uh this has I mean, this has zero carbs, zero fiber, zero sugar, zero protein.
So, zero sugar, but it has higher fat.
6 g of fat per 2 tbsp, and it's higher calorie, 60 calories versus this 30 calories, 2 g of fat. And so, the trade-off is the 2 g of sugar, but this definitely has only 2 g of fat versus the 6 g of fat.
And so, um just something to think about.
You want your sugar or your fat?
Um but e- either one is fine. And so, that's what I'm about to attempt to eat and hopefully keep it down. But yeah, my stomach still feels a little um queasy, so to speak, but I I know I need to eat. So, I'm going to try to eat.
And I'm not going to have my second coffee today. I'm just going to swap that for a nice little ginger lemon tea to help soothe my tummy.
And yeah, but this is the first time I threw up using this medication. And just even thinking about my VSG surgery in general, uh I've probably only thrown up twice VSG-wise.
Um so, I mean, yeah, doesn't feel good.
So, that's where we at, and we'll I'll definitely update y'all on how well this stays down.
Um And we'll see. I mean, this is still the low dose of this medication, and so of course I meet with my nurse practitioner um for my month check-in, four-week check-in, and then you know, she prescribes the next dose.
So, we'll see.
Um and y'all might see this in another clip, but I had made some coleslaw with some that fresh cabbage that I harvested the other day, and it was good. And I'm not a huge coleslaw fan, but I wanted some coleslaw to put on that barbecue pulled pork and put it on taco, which was delicious, by the way. Um but um yeah, that was my first time making homemade coleslaw. Usually, I just do the bag mix um that come with the dressing already in it, but I used like some light Duke's mayonnaise, and I I'll show y'all in another clip, but it turned out really well. Um I think I put too much celery seed in it, but other than that, it was good.
>> All right, y'all. So, this is the pina colada protein ice cream that I had mixed together in the previous video, and so I finally decided to churn it.
So, um it actually looks pretty good right now.
I'm not going to re-spin it.
Um I did let it sit out for about 15-20 minutes.
Um I am going to scrape the sides a little bit, but I'm scared if I turn it again, it's just going to make it too loose, and I still want some texture to it, so uh >> [snorts] >> let's see.
All right, so I'm going to put it in this bowl, um mostly so y'all can see the texture.
Uh but again, uh-oh.
This is what it's giving.
Not bad.
And it's definitely soft, so um and this was just using one packet of the coconut cream Simple Eat Clean Simple Eats protein packet mixed with some light uh pineapple juice and some fat-free Fairlife milk.
I did add a little bit of pineapple upside down cake uh sugar-free syrup to it as well.
And I don't even know if I'm going to eat all this, y'all.
But I'm putting it all in the bowl.
Um I do have some dried pineapple um I did eat like two rings of this already and Lord have mercy, the serving size is one piece.
It has 18 g of carbs, 14 g of sugar.
I ate two of them already. I probably shouldn't add this on here.
But well, I ate two of them already, y'all.
I ain't going to put it on there.
If you have some toasted coconut flakes, you can put it on there.
I have some coconut flakes, but it's the sweetened ones.
But this is the ice cream, y'all. And this is using the Clean Simple Eats uh protein mix, the coconut cream protein mix. So we're about to try it together.
Um I actually got this recipe It was on like the little info things like at Target. They had like individual packs on sale or what or something a while back, and they had recipes for different types of ice cream you can make with the protein mixes. And so I just took a picture of it. And so this was one of those. So the ice cream.
This is good.
Nice balance of the coconut and pineapple.
If I hadn't eaten too many of that dried pineapple already, I would put some on here.
>> [laughter] >> But I probably shouldn't have eaten any more cuz the sugar.
But this is good.
And y'all probably really can't see the texture that well.
But if you've made protein ice cream before, you know that sometimes the texture is just not it.
Um but it's good.
I didn't have to add any um Well, I won't say didn't have to. I didn't add any of like the pudding mix that sometimes people put in.
But this is good. I'd make this again.
They had like a recipe for the one for the peanut butter cup one. They had one for like the brownie batter one.
But this is good.
And since I made it light ice cream, I didn't have to kind of eat it fast cuz it melts pretty fast.
It's like soft soft serve.
But it's good.
That's it for tonight. Y'all saw me eat dinner.
Y'all see dessert.
I showed y'all lunch, breakfast, progress. I showed y'all a whole day of meals. And depending on how I feel, I'm still going to make me some tea using my new mug that my husband bought me from Pike Place Market. So, I'm going to make me some tea in here.
And call it a night. And I will see y'all in la manana.
>> [laughter] >> In the morning in la manana.
Hello. Hello. Okay. So, good morning.
Today is Tuesday, June 9th and I am about to eat breakfast really quick cuz guess what? I got to go to work.
>> [laughter] >> So, I have some grapes like a handful of grapes, one boiled egg with some nature seasoning, one maple chicken uh sausage patty. That's the Amy Lou brand. And then I have two slices of turkey bacon.
I have my iced latte in my Starbucks tumbler that my husband bought me from Pike Place Market and I have my water of the day which is it's a Sonic Ocean Water with uh a fruity red punch something.
So, that's that with my collagen powder.
And um I checked the all the stuff in the garden.
I harvested some uh peas. And so, this is my first pea harvest.
Oh, and a strawberry. I need to wash it.
I need to wash uh shell the peas or deshell or whatever you want to call it, but I think they're ready this time.
>> [clears throat] >> These uh the pods were a lot more plump than it was the last time. And the peas are a lot bigger.
So, I'm going to get those out of there and stuff and we going slightly steam them and eat them.
And yeah, I'm I have a client this morning and a meeting and then I'm going to work out, which is why I have this on. It's a onesie type situation, a jumpsuit from Savage X Fenty. I don't know that you really supposed to work out in it cuz it doesn't have like any like support. I I have on like a regular old bra under this. So, I'm just going to do like a little dance workout. So, nothing too super intense that would require me to need like a high impact sports bra. And of course, I'm going to put a shirt on and a sweater on to uh cover myself up for the session, obviously, but that's what I got going on and um I harvested some collard greens.
Some collards.
Um my Swiss chard don't produce a whole lot, which is fine.
Um cuz these are this this is the same one that I harvested from I mean that I planted in in the basement in January. So, I I guess it's doing as well as it can. I've had a few harvests off of it and then um I have some fresh parsley and cilantro in here and I'm going to make some guacamole later.
I'm about to taste this strawberry. I just washed it off, but I be scared uh cuz they sometimes they're a little bit softer.
So, um it looks ripe.
I be needing to cut it first to see if it ain't See Make sure it ain't ripe.
But it's good. A little tart.
It could be sweeter.
It was all right.
Um but yeah, I'm just about to eat and I will see y'all in the next clip.
Okay, y'all. So, I just worked out.
Kudos to me.
I did like a It was like a dance workout, 30 minutes.
Um and so I'm about to eat lunch before I have to meet with a client per usual. And so, I did end up taking the peas out of the shell. And so, they look really, really good.
And so, I'm about to um like steam these for like 30 seconds in the microwave and eat it with some shrimp.
And yeah, I'm excited about this.
>> [clears throat and cough] >> All right. So, I warmed the peas up for a little bit.
Um I did taste them, but I'm taste them again for y'all on camera. I did heat it up with the rest of the shrimp.
It's about 4 oz of shrimp.
And so, I put I sprayed a little bit of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray on there and I put some Nature's Seasoning on it.
So, fresh peas from the garden.
I didn't cook them a whole lot cuz I didn't want them to shrivel up.
They taste good. I mean, I can't necessarily say that they taste any better than the ones in the store like from the freezer section, but they still taste good. And would I grow them again?
Yeah.
But I don't know that it is a significant taste like I taste with the lettuce and the uh like greens, kale, like collard greens, mustard greens, and things like that.
So, but it's good.
So, this is lunch.
Or a snack or something.
Lunch.
So far, things food is going down okay.
No side effects today.
Just tired, but that's everyday.
Hello. Hello. Hello. So, today is Friday, June 12th, and um it's been a busy week, so I haven't really picked up the camera cuz um I've just been doing a lot of yard work, y'all. The amount of times I have like as far as like watering all of the plants, and so I only show y'all a portion of like I show y'all the garden beds like with the flowers and food that I planted, but that's not including the front yard that has a bunch of flowers and plants from the previous owner. Oh my gosh. So, it's a lot of watering that like I spent like 45 minutes watering everything the other day, and I don't know if I'm going to look into like an irrigation system for next year if I decide to garden next year. Um I'm sure will cuz I've invested so much time and money in it already.
Um but I I kind of enjoy being able to go out and look at the plants a million times a day and just hand water them just to kind of see how things are going. So, um but yeah, that's been taking up a lot of my time pulling weeds, um those types of things and um I'm I had started trying to clean out my garage and then it got messed up again.
And so that's been an ongoing thing.
Um I've done a few workouts.
Kudos [applause] to me.
I spent like an hour and a half outside doing yard work yesterday. And so I'm out here working, y'all. Not to mention working literally working trying to save America's people through through therapy, okay? So, that too. So, I am tired. I am busy and all the things. And so, I I am ashamed to say that I have not eaten and it's 12:11 p.m.
Um [snorts] I had a Nouri protein shake this morning as a little snacky snack.
And then I I'm not hungry is the issue.
Constantly the issue. [clears throat] I I just don't have an appetite. Um but I know I'm supposed to eat, but this morning was weird. Like I had the protein shake. Of course, I make coffee cuz coffee is life at this point. I made my water of the day. So, I'm at least hydrating with something.
Um but I I didn't want to rush to eat cuz that seems to be like when I rush to eat before I have to like meet with a client or something. Like I eat too fast and then my stomach hurt. And so, I didn't want that to happen.
Um So, all that to say, I'm about to eat after 12:00. And so, of course, we on the eat whatever's in the refrigerator no matter what the combination is. So, that's what we getting today.
So, I have some rotisserie chicken from Sam's Club. I put some uh Frank's buffalo hot sauce on it. It's some a little bit of beans from It's canned beans. These are like some Southwest pinto beans. I have a little bit of some frozen spinach. Yes, frozen spinach.
And some green beans and some corn.
These are all frozen vegetables.
But this is what I'm eating.
I will say I did cook yesterday and I'm so excited cuz I had harvested some greens a decent amount of greens from the garden and so I wanted to cook them in a different way versus the you know the regular Southern way of like just boiling them with some some type of smoked meat or whatever.
So I made some gumbo greens and never made gumbo before, never made gumbo greens before, but it came out really really well.
I used Amy Lu Andouille sausage. I tried to lighten it up a little bit cuz you know you're already putting in a bunch of oil in it, oil and flour in it for the roux.
But I I tried to lighten it up with the Amy Lu chicken sausage versus the traditional Andouille sausage and I used I used some boneless skinless chicken thighs. Although this was like the Perdue Farm Raised Free Range something and so it said it was lean and so it has 20 g protein per 4 oz and only 8 g of fat. So that seemed lower and it was boneless skinless chicken thighs and the Amy Lu chicken sausage and I'm not saying this is a traditional gumbo by any means cuz I know y'all folks from Louisiana will go in. But I used chicken and then and the Amy Lu Andouille sausage and again this is one of those technical things that we're not saying this is a traditional gumbo or gumbo greens or whatever so y'all hold your comments.
I did add shrimp and I know sometimes again logistic technical technicality with gumbo y'all Louisiana and New Orleans folks will tell me.
I did add shrimp for protein. So, I'm thinking more protein. So, I added shrimp, chicken, and sausage. I added some okra. I don't even like okra, but I added some okra.
Um and of course, the star of the show was the garden fresh collard greens, okay? And so, it was absolutely delicious. I did make some jasmine rice with it, although that was just for plating purposes for YouTube cuz I made a video.
Um but, it was good.
And I'm yapping. So, I'm about to eat and then I'm going go check on my plants for the third time this morning or today.
And um I have two more sessions today. I already had two this morning. So, two more sessions. Um So, that's where we at today.
Just thought I'd share that. This whole appetite thing, it doesn't exist.
Good morning. So, today is Monday, June 15th.
And um I'm about to wrap up this video.
And so, um the rest of the week went fine. I didn't experience any symptoms.
I have noticed that when it's closer to the end of the week, I do >> [music] >> my appetite does pick up a bit. And y'all wouldn't believe this, but >> [laughter] >> I'm about to start my period again. And I feel like we just discussed this in two videos ago. And so that was like 2 weeks ago, 2 and 1/2 weeks ago, like bruh, bruh. And so there's that. Um, no additional weight loss, still just lost the 4 lbs, which is great. Um, still trying to stay active. Still tracking my food, still doing the things. And so yeah. Uh, thank you guys so much for being here. And again, make sure you like, share, comment, and subscribe. And I will see you next week. Bye.
