Model hydroplane racing is a competitive sport where participants race high-speed boats on water, with boats categorized by engine displacement (such as 15cc, 26cc, and 35cc classes) and performance capabilities (like 60 mph boats). The 2026 Namba Nationals featured 655 boats entered across multiple classes, with races lasting 25-30 seconds and requiring boats to complete full laps. Key aspects include boat construction materials (wood vs. molded), engine types (Zenoah, reed valve motors), and racing strategies like lane positioning and avoiding collisions. The event includes both gas-powered and electric boats, with competitors from around the world, including an Australian participant who traveled to compete for the North American Model Boating Association National Championship.

We got uh Jim White here all set up, ready to rock and roll. Ken Olsen, I got lucky yesterday. He had a rocket fast uh Sport Hydro, but uh kept having bad things happen.
But these are on the cold pit ready to go.
>> 16.
>> These are on the hot ready to go.
>> We have little electric tunnels out there on the water right now.
>> There's your driver's rep. You got to be nice to Oscar. my radio.
>> I have nothing to race today, so we're just going to come down here and get in everybody's way. [screaming] >> Look at some boats.
>> Check out these little electric.
>> That's Douglas on the inside. The back shooting first.
>> Yeah, that thing strong.
>> We have a buoy cut on Miller.
>> First three. There's fourth place.
out there trying to get her going. Nope.
>> Straightened out.
>> Yeah, that's a beautiful ride right there. My goodness.
>> Let's hold our fingers up, people.
We boat here.
>> Oh, he has gone dead. You're newly >> Oh, let all the smoke out. Dead boat in the back shoot.
>> Yeah, it is. It's smoking. That is >> all good.
didn't make the speed control with it.
>> Well, this race is over. Let's go look >> if he had his tag on his back like he's supposed to. I'd remember his gas anyway.
>> Oh, it's down there. No, I'm not looking there.
>> What class am I looking at here?
>> On the red G1 cat. So, stalker.
>> They're not stalker modified. Oh. Oh. G1 is modified.
>> Modified 26.
>> Modified 26. All right. Very good.
>> Looks like it has three >> dead boat on >> Fighting Irish right here.
>> 60 mph cats.
>> 60 mph caps. I'm told.
>> Okay. Last lap for Randy. We're saying >> another dead boat.
>> Yeah. These are >> way wide coming out of the right.
>> Pardon me.
>> You racing one of these?
>> Yes.
>> Is that right? Oh, this you. All right.
Good luck. We're going to follow you out there.
>> Sally Terry right there.
>> Oh, you can't talk and hold a hand. I like it.
>> See who else we have.
>> I do like that. If you want to work, >> I don't think he found his shoes.
>> Salt life.
>> Oh, this Oh, Allan's running. So, uh, this is, uh, the dad and daughter race that's happening here.
>> I don't think he'll sell you one of them 35 bullets, but you might be able to talk him into it. It takes some arm twisting.
[laughter] >> So, Allan builds 35cc uh, Zenoas that really aren't zenoas anymore. You probably saw it in his uh, >> Jeff, are you running? Yeah, it's right there. I had to race again, man.
Yesterday, he fell off pipe and but I could hear that big block coming behind me. It sounded like a top fueler.
>> We're going to go pick up uh the boats that smoked and then these guys will go. So, we're going to follow that. If you'd like to watch them run, just stick around. I'm just going to keep it running and we'll go and take a look at the cold pit here and see if we have any more things of high interest. Oh, we sure do. Look at this. Golly.
>> No, >> man. It's a lot [clears throat] of hardware on the back of that thing.
>> Oh, this appears to be Oh, I thought it was printed. I don't think so.
>> No, I don't know.
>> Oh, yeah. Yeah. What's it? What? I I can almost read it. Uh, a 390. I think it says 390 back cut. I don't know if I believe that.
>> Yeah. Way back in the beginning.
>> That's really a sweet looking machine.
It's the only one I see here. I don't know. Apparently, he's lined up really, really early.
>> Yeah, I said I was guessing he was lined up early. Oh, since we're on that subject, let's go look at this one.
>> Don't worry, I'm listening. When those cats light off, we'll go over and take a look at it.
So, I actually had one of these for a little while and I had this plan to put it together, but I had no real reason.
You know, the the nationals weren't weren't announced yet. I had everything >> and I finally just sold it.
And I I think trying to remember the whole story. I think I sent it to Australia. I wonder if he knows um or if that's on purpose where the whole starter is. Can you see it's up out of place? I'm not going to mess with his boat. I can't imagine. Maybe you start it and then take it off. Oh, I believe that's the case. It's just pinned. So you hold it down, fire the boat, and then lift it off of there. I like it.
That's a thinker right there. Maybe that's a thing on all these. I don't know. Leave me a message. Let me know if I just don't know what I You know, you don't know what you don't know.
>> Let's see what these things look like underneath this. I mean, it looks a lot like the hole that I had. The cowling looks identical to the one that I had. I can't even remember what brand it is.
Oh, it's a wood center section. Oh, okay. The one I had was all molded. Oh, yeah. This is a wood boat. Oh, well, now I love it all the more.
You know me. That's interesting. I I'm not sure about Look at this. That That edge is Isn't that going to catch?
Do I want it to? I I don't know.
Fascinating. All right, we got to go see the other one. See if they did that on that one, too.
Uh how am I going to see it?
>> Oh, so this one's wood, too.
>> Maybe it's the same guy.
Uh, >> same odd leading edge, Ken. This thing has a crazy.
>> Look at this here.
>> I saw it on the other wood boat. Look how he Look how it leaves.
>> Feel the leading.
>> That's interesting.
>> Most of those shouldn't be in the water really at all, obviously.
>> Well, when they are getting in the water, it's because the boat's out of shape. But don't you want that to be like a recovery surface or something?
But maybe >> maybe it just absolutely doesn't matter on those.
>> I guess if that's in the water, it's already too late.
>> You wouldn't you wouldn't do that without a reason.
>> Well, >> I mean, I have a lot of reasons for the things I do and then I cut them back off later.
>> Well, for example, straight turn fins on backlashes. All you guys, every one of you told me it wouldn't work, and you were right. [laughter] Oh. Oh, it hurts me so much to say that.
>> Don't worry, I'm still listening. We're going to go check out the boats. Just every day is is new here because um different classes run every day. So, we're always seeing uh things new and different, which is really super fun.
Still listening. Don't worry. I'm going to get that race here. Check it out.
They are still I don't know if you can see it. There's still a chase boat going way out there. Oh, we have a rogue buoy that has taken off. So, he's going to pick that up.
Let's just wander through here. We have major surgery taking place here. Oh, not major surgery.
>> Little bit of >> Can I ask what kind of motor is this?
That's unusual.
>> What is it?
>> Okay. I've never seen one of those before.
>> Less filling on one leg than the >> fast run good.
Yeah. Yeah. Good. Good luck.
>> Oh, here we go.
>> Australian.
>> Really?
>> Okay. K.
>> All right. I look forward to seeing it run.
>> This is the Nationals. He is does not speak English.
>> Came all this way >> to win the North American >> Model Boating Association National Championship. How cool is that?
>> Oh, I'm over here. I'm just over here checking it out. Look at David Newton from Rooster Tail Talk.
>> We're here.
>> Hi, David.
>> We're here.
>> Oh, I missed you then. Did you just run?
>> Yes.
>> Now, hold the phone. Don't say anything yet.
>> Was that you submarining? Submarining.
Submarining. and then started half a lap behind everybody and cooked everybody.
>> No, >> that wasn't you. No. Okay.
>> I was I was >> a white boat just did that.
>> I think you won.
>> No, I got second.
>> Oh.
>> Oh. All right.
>> Flighty out there, so I just kind of held back. But I got Evil Convvil in the cockpit.
>> Yeah. Evil.
>> Yeah. Well, no wonder.
>> He's [clears throat] a little nervous.
He just got done with a Snake River jump.
>> Yeah. Don't Don't let him pull the chute too early.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Don't panic. Don't panic.
>> I know what happened. He had his hand on it. When that thing lid off, it yanked back. I guarantee you that's what happened.
>> Right.
>> Well, do you got the speed?
>> Got the speed, but the it's just it's just too loose.
>> How do you fix it on these? Do you know?
>> Put a little angle on there. Going to add a little weight to the front.
>> Oh, you're going to add weight. We'll see what happens. Oh, for shame.
>> We're We're at nationals, so we're we're desperate here.
>> We're doing whatever we have to do.
Well, you know the drill. It's all about finishing. So, a second finish.
Fantastic. If you did that all day, your podium maybe even the top.
>> That's the goal.
>> Yeah. All right. Good luck.
>> All right. Thank you.
>> Let's check out David's stuff here. You got to find him on Facebook, uh YouTube, and check out Rooster Tail Talk. Uh he David uh has the ear of every single big boat, racer, driver, team. He gets all of them and does fantastic interviews.
You can learn all the different scuttlebutts.
Let's get down here. Should we? Hey, let's check it out from the first turn.
That'll be kind of fun.
I'm going to act like I belong here and walk in here at least until I get thrown out. That's how we roll. Plus, I wanted the shade.
All right.
Well, thanks, Nor RC. Appreciate that.
had a great time.
I totally blew the setup in one heat and the boat went straight up and over in the mill, which was just [music] dumb because I won every other heat. Um, and I'm not going to say this to try to be boastful. It was just I I I did a nice job on my starts. I'll take credit for that. But then, um, once you get a lead, you can really just kind of pedal cuz then you own the water.
So, I never got super challenged and had to had to run it really really hard, which would have been fun, but I'll tell you what, I was very happy to take what I could get. Uh, yeah. Then to make the podium even after dropping, I thought that was pretty cool. So, I feel real good about it.
Okay. 17.
Oh.
Oh, look at that. We got somebody really trolling.
Two, one.
Oh, I believe that the lead boat was called for jumping the start. I I can't really tell for sure. It's hard to hear, but I believe that the race you see for second is actually the race for the win.
What I do know is uh that boat if he did jump, he is not getting out of the way of the leader, which would be rude. So maybe he didn't jump and he's actually competing for the win. Yeah, he just crossed over in front of him, too. So man, why it must be raced. It must be a good start.
Oh. Oh, he's in there.
Will he leave it?
Oh, he crossed him again and took him out.
Oh my.
Are they going to call that or not?
>> He appears to have slowed. He may have been DQed.
I don't know. I I didn't hear it. Let's see. He is pulling off. He's either DQed or or that was the end of the race. I don't honestly I don't know. I really can't hear it from down here. I don't know. What do you guys think just happened? It sure looked to me like he like he took him out.
He's just having a good time. I'm going to keep running.
I heard him say last lap, so I'm not really sure what's happening.
He's got a finish. And now he's got to Oh, they did said he could cut the course. That's interesting. Earlier they'd said you'll never be able to cut the course. You have to run full laps.
But they must have changed their mind cuz that's that's a waste of time. Why wouldn't you cut the course? Okay, so that took care of that. The next ones are lined up. What was next? I don't I don't even remember now.
>> We We'll have them. Let's see how much time will we have. We do have a dead one out in the middle. So, let's go look at some more boats.
>> I'll keep my ears open for when the clock starts and we'll go down there and take another look. See what kind of new things do we have out today.
Uh I don't have owner or driver nearby, so I don't can't really talk through this too much. Okay. 15cc. So big big motor in a little boat. If you're a John Candy fan, you know.
Oh, hey, we got a scale over there. Did we look I think we might have looked at this the other day.
It's a very nice scale.
I wonder if this is more of David Newton stuff. I really don't know.
79 national champion. I was here watching him as a kid.
Bill Muny, man. The dude would run you hard. I love the guy.
>> Going on to 63.
>> Jim White, Charles Dandy, Ed Justice.
>> Oh yeah, my buddy Jim's in this one.
>> Jim Osborne, >> I think he had the >> four will be in the back.
>> Purple sparkly thing.
>> Robert Richard.
>> Most of us in RCU have no clue how to run these things cuz we never run them.
>> But a lot of these guys have them and they just sit in the garage and get covered in dust and once every three or four or five years we get a chance to run. So, we bring them out.
>> So, please don't don't uh don't judge us too harshly cuz we have no clue how to run what we're running.
There's a lot to be said for a white boat. Number one, real easy to paint.
Number two, real easy to see on the water. This here, not so much. Thank goodness for this. Otherwise, you'd never see this thing.
We definitely have a Red Bull fan here.
>> Yeah, I know. But it also rots your stomach.
>> Amazing.
>> How you doing? Hope you don't mind. I'm just invading your pit.
>> No, I haven't had it.
>> The first race is in the books and today the championship competition continues.
Today's racing action includes >> a little further. I'm glad I noticed that instead of stepping on it >> deep in the thrash, so I'm going to leave him alone.
>> How'd it run? I forgot to just follow you.
>> It didn't get off the >> Didn't get off the >> No way.
Oh, so sad, [laughter] man. This points racing, you just can't afford to be dropping. Jeez. My goodness.
Oh well, now you got nothing to lose.
You just send it. Good luck. [screaming] She's a great racer. I'm so sorry we missed all that. Can I Oh, I love a good bit dog. How you doing, little buddy?
You're so good. You're such a good little dog. Yes.
And here we go. all this hardware. Okay, now see that's different. This guy doesn't have his pins so it stays on.
Look at all that work to wrap the pipe.
You got [snorts] to do what you got to do. You know, you can't stick the pipe straight forward. Well, could you?
>> I got to think about that.
>> Would it Would it? No, you couldn't, right? Cuz it's got to turn. Yeah. No, never mind. That's stupid. Of course, it has to wrap around.
I thought I was just going to change the world by my straight piped outboard, but uh that was dumb. Let's just pretend I didn't talk about that.
Okay, I like that too much.
>> That is a great idea.
I mean, that is beyond great. You know what I do is I I work my tail off on my boats. I'll spend hours, hours, and maybe days making one part. But you think I'll get my pit ready? No. The answer would be no.
All right, they're running.
Which one is Jimmy driving? I do not know. Uh, I got a bunch of barrier in the way, but I'm going to get you as close as I can.
We should be able to hear the clock this time, so that's nice. But I won't be able to see folks through that speaker.
Yeah. Holy crap. That's a lot of boats.
You're not seeing them. We've got 655 boats entered. So, you're only going to see the boats that are running today's classes.
You heard me right. 655 25 seconds.
Uh, where's Jim's bowl?
Oh, I do believe that's Jim doing an RCU crawl in lane one. 13 11.
>> Should make it easily. He's at 9.
Plenty of time.
>> 6 4 3 2 Oh, wait over for sure. Oh.
Oh.
I do think Jim took himself out there.
>> The lead boat. Uh, it looked to me like he left him a lane, but you guys tell me. I I'm looking at the screen, so I really couldn't tell.
That's the problem. Running lane one.
Boy, if that lane two boat turns in lane two, we got to get through there without touching the buoy somehow.
And I don't think Jimmy held it.
I sure thought that white boat was over, too. If he was over and blasting Jim, well, then that would really suck. So, I don't I'll go back and watch my own video later and find out. Oh, he's off pipe there.
Totally lost track of who's leading.
[screaming] If he didn't jump, he's leading. But I should have thought he was over. That would make this boat your leader.
He's running scared, that's for sure.
You can hear him lifting. He's just preserving his finish position. Oh, and he went dead. How sad.
Okay, they called a good finish for that white boat that looked like it was about 10 ft over.
Oh, but you know, hey, whatever.
>> There we go. It must have been good. You know, who am I to say? These guys are up here. They've got the straight line shot at it. I'm looking at an angle. So, uh, I don't mean to be judgmental. I just mean to be judgmental.
All right. Yeah. Did you see that? Yep.
This is uh it's a man lift that we set up at the end so that fellas that are mobility challenged can still race with us. So, it's great.
We've got at least two guys that I know of that are taking advantage of that, which is super. Um, so they're going to have to go out and pick up some of that dead wood. So, it'll be a minute before they're running again.
We should talk to Jimmy and let's let's talk to Jimmy and get the driver's Oh, wait. We'll get his co-driver's perspective first.
>> Okay, Ken, were you co-driving for Jim?
>> Did he get taken out or did he have a lane?
>> Come on. You're on. You're live. I uh >> you can go ahead and say it. I've got it on video and we'll look at it later.
>> I thought that should have been a lap penalty.
>> There wasn't much room, but I thought there might have been room.
>> It was close.
>> But now tell me this. Was the white boat over by about 5 ft?
>> That's what I thought.
>> Okie dokie.
>> We'll all find out soon when I look back at the video.
>> We'll see. Yeah, I thought he got a bum deal there, but uh >> it got awful tight in there.
>> Well, lane one's tough, especially if the other boat jumps. Um but I don't know. Maybe it was absolutely clean and um >> of course I'm going to be biased. So, >> yeah. Yeah.
Is Jimmy okay or is he is he upset?
>> Jim's so easy going. Yeah. You never know with Jimmy >> until you get in the next race and he takes you out.
>> Other just kind of shook shook our heads and >> Yeah. Yeah. said, "Well, the race is over." Yeah. Yeah. the way I saw it. You >> nothing to lose now. You just send it.
>> I have time. I just wanted to remind you. Sorry.
>> I asked them and then they're like, "No, my brother."
>> I don't know. None of you have commented. Did you see it? I I don't have any idea if you can pause the live and go back and look at it maybe in slowmo. Let me know what happened in that first turn. I'd love to know. First of all, you can stop it and hear the beep, you know, and see if that weight boat was way over on the beep.
Uh, so we got another group of the same thing. Looks like it's going to run here in a minute. So, I'll keep listening.
Oh, I walked a long ways away. I bet I missed a lot of stuff. Let's go back and see.
Surgery happening here in David Newton's Pit.
This is the hardest working crew here, man. They're here all day dealing with registrations and all that crud they have to handle. How you doing?
>> Can I come in? He can come in.
>> Knock knock.
>> This is really, really beautiful. This is like a a GX2 Sport Hydro in miniature >> that has both the IMPDBA and NAMI records.
>> This is the record holding boat.
>> I'm going to build one.
>> Uh, so tell me about it. Uh, kit boat.
Um, looks like a Blazer.
>> It's a Blazer. Bob Laser built the boat.
>> Oh, he built it himself. Okay.
>> Built the boat.
>> All right.
That's no surprise.
I don't know if you guys can see it that, you know, I'm under a an orange tent here. That's why things look pretty funky.
>> Beautiful machine. Got a super secret tunnel hidden over there.
That's a really interesting looking white foot over there. I'm going to go look at that thing. See if I can get in there.
>> All right. Can I come in, fellas?
>> Can I come through? Yeah.
>> Okay. I see something I want to get a closer look at. It's unique.
Let's take a look at this now. I really like this idea in theory.
>> I'd like to >> Man, I hope you can see it.
>> Wood build.
>> I'd like to see that a little bit sharper. I'm sorry.
>> That's a basically a copy of a mut.
>> A muck.
>> M.
>> A mut.
>> M U T M U T.
>> M U T.
>> Yep.
>> I don't know. I'm a scale guy. I'm an RCU guy, man. We don't know nothing.
Mark Anderson.
>> That's a Mark Anderson built.
>> Oh, Mark Anderson did it.
>> No, Mark Hansen designed the boat initially.
>> Oh. Oh, okay.
>> And I have original one, but I wanted to retire it. So, we built this and it is a copy of it. They're really, you see how low the engine is?
>> Yep.
>> Actually, it's kind of I got to put it back in.
>> Well, yeah, I see that. Well, I I thought either you had it angled on purpose or the mount broke the carb the carb out of it for another time put back together again.
>> Oh, don't you love the wide center section when it's done like that?
>> Well, I think Kelly uh was running one of these behind.
>> Can I get uh take a look here? Do you mind if I lift it up and take a look underneath?
It's heavier than I would have thought.
>> Oh man, it's got a huge tongue. I'm sure that's it's probably intentional.
>> Yeah.
>> To keep the nose up in the middle.
>> All our weights here, right?
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. No. No. I totally get it.
>> But you run a struts dead flat and she stays in the water no matter how rough it is.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
You know, I'm all about building super light stuff and then the more weight I add to them, the faster they go.
I didn't say that. Scratch that. I'm gonna I'm gonna mute that section later.
>> Thank you. Appreciate it.
>> I love seeing people do things that are different. You know, I'm seeing so many of the exact same thing here. And nothing wrong with that. You know, if it works, it works. But I like trying to reinvent the wheel every now and then.
>> Oh, they're running. Hold on. Here we go.
the red belt pit. There's that white version right there.
I just saw your message, Brian. I don't know when you put that and then the message evaporated from my screen. He's asking about the lower unit on one of the boats and uh I'm sorry I missed that for you.
Still a minute left.
Okay, they just dropped it to 306.
>> It's really weird. They'll do that to you. So, you got to have a plan in your head of what you're going to do. No matter where you are on the water, when they suddenly drop it to 30 seconds.
>> And these guys had a good plan.
>> They'll be fine. This guy here's got to troll hard.
>> 7 at five. You are committed to your lane.
I think it was close. I heard him say good start. So, you are looking at the battle and one is gone.
>> I couldn't see what happened cuz I'm looking at the screen, you know. So, here we go again. It's hard to say.
Oh, you got a buoy. Oh, that buoy is dislodged. So, they are disregarding.
Oh, up and over.
>> Did I get it?
>> The corner of my eye, I saw it start to lift. I don't know if I got there or not. So, what we have is shrapnel everywhere on the raceourse. And the leader now has to tiptoe under no pressure because there is second place and the only other boat still running.
So in RCU, we would call this race and say you win, you're second because we don't want to see other boats get hit.
Now if these two guys were still close together and racing, well then you race it off. But this there's no reason to run six laps. So, but that's how they do it here. Probably because it's national event. You got to make your boat run for a full six. So, so be it.
>> That's over. Let's go see more boats.
Look, see what happens.
Figure it out.
Man, I'm trying to get the screen to uh minimize again and failing in that endeavor.
That's super frustrating.
Hang on.
Got it. Wow, that does not respond well.
Okay, what else do we miss? Okay, we talked to Ally about hers, so we must have been somewhere around here. Let's see.
Tons of boats in the trailer. Not much on the deck.
Oh, look at that. Ezm.
>> These are really interesting. Uh, it's a reed valve motor.
>> Crazy heavy and huge, you know, because of the reads. So, you got to have a home for the carburetor. And you hate seeing it, you know, jammed in there like that.
stuff around the intake.
>> But, uh, David Brandt, I think, purchased one of these, but years and years ago.
>> And, um, >> sorry about that, Al.
>> Struggled with it. I mean, it had a bad ignition right off of the right out of the box. And so, it was just really a nightmare to work with and kind of gave up on it.
>> We'll just take pictures.
>> I'm not taking pictures. You're on You're live, man. You're live and in person.
Yeah, nobody around there. Let's not intrude.
>> For M5.
>> Hey, what boat do you have that I need to buy?
>> You need You need to buy that GX2 Sport Hydro. That's >> I'm going to run every class at Nationals next year. One class of D.
>> Even if it's in Florida. You going all the way down there?
>> I'm going. I got the time.
>> I'm going to hold you to it.
>> Would you please set me up with something good?
Well, my GX2 will be for sale soon.
>> GX2.
>> That's the sport hydro I ran yesterday.
>> The wooden one with M5.
>> Yeah, that's a good boat.
>> It's a is a good >> It's not for sale yet.
>> After Voodoo, it'll be for sale.
>> Oscar, how you doing?
>> Good.
need an ebike.
>> That looks like fun.
>> Darren Hog's pit.
>> Have any color you want as long as it's white.
>> That looks too new. Way too way too clean.
>> You don't ever actually run it, do you?
It just sits here.
>> This season three on it.
>> Oh, okay.
>> It's been It's been repaired multiple times, though. My boats don't look nothing like that after three races, let alone three seasons.
>> David, how you doing today? David Baker right here, everybody.
>> I'm doing well.
>> See, that looks like a race boat. That's more like >> Oh, look at that. All black. Man, you are not going to see that boat on the water. You can't. I didn't even notice it here until I saw these numbers jumping out at me.
>> How do you see that thing when you're running it?
>> What?
>> Well, you have to be a little bit ahead of it cuz they're that fast.
>> Yeah. And don't let it go dead cuz nobody's going to see it.
>> I'll bet.
>> Welcome to the rum racing pit. How's things running?
>> It's running good so far.
>> Yeah, >> they're running. Just that >> I'm not finishing at top. Yesterday was top what? Seven.
>> Okay.
>> I started out my morning with cat winning my first heat. So >> Oh, that feels so good.
>> Yeah. Hopefully I end up that way.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Don't get cocky.
>> I won my first heat and went upside down on my second. So don't do that.
>> All right.
>> Don't be like me.
>> All right. I learned.
Beautiful boats though.
That's a good dude right there.
That's insane. Oh, they're out.
All right, first reveal.
>> You've seen little glimpses of them.
>> Okay, these are my boats, right? No, they are not. They're Merlin's boats.
Merlin has built flawless copies of my electro eliminator and my gasser strobe.
>> Uh, this is the exact same boat set up exactly the same.
>> And it even Oh, it even has my sticker on it.
>> Yes, it does. [laughter] >> Credit where credit's due.
>> Yep.
>> Ken, are you going to drive it one heat?
I don't know. I would love to.
[laughter] >> Are you Well, you're racing electric.
>> This is my first full look at it, too.
>> Perfect.
That is exactly my go. Now, I I couldn't promise that the angles are, but if I know Merlin, he copied it precisely.
>> Yeah, I sent him all the data. We talked about it all the way.
And the only difference between Merlin's boats and mine is Merlin's look fantastic.
>> Mine look like race boats.
>> You need to have your tags. See the number when we're up here.
>> That's how we identify drivers. We don't know everything.
>> I'm just going to leave mine in the trailer. This is ridiculous.
>> Wish I could.
>> Yeah, this is it, fellas.
>> Okay. Not a fan.
But you do you.
>> Oh, we got a backup plan, Scott.
>> It's even got M5 performance uh >> transom plugs.
>> And And do we have uh the exclusive patented water catchers built into it?
Well, sure we do.
>> Yep. There's a reason for that, folks.
You got to follow my channel. Same's true over here.
>> Motor start your engine.
>> Double brakes. You guys didn't see that.
>> Looks fantastic.
Uh where's your cowling? Oh, here we go.
>> Yeah, I mean that's just that's my boat.
That's uh that's quite flattering when a guy perfectly replicates what you've done. He even made the same mistake I did and used pork foam. Now that's that's too much.
>> That's not so much.
>> You shave it off a little.
>> Not so [laughter] that's extra weight.
Holy smokes.
>> Can't wait.
>> Can't wait to see them run. Now these run next Saturday. Okay. So, I won't be videoing it. There is a guy live that uh anyway, there's a live stream. No doubt you can find it from the Namba 8, District 8 channel.
Uh and you can watch the Scaleboats race next Saturday.
That is some tight racing. I tell you that right now.
Way to go, Merlin.
That's cool. I mean, if you're an old school guy, you got to love flames. Just unless it's an electric boat, then you don't want to see flames.
Oh, yeah. This is the classic torn deck revealing the structure beneath. It's got a pretty good 3D effect. You see that?
>> That's kind of legit. I like it. Good job.
See, that's what they look like underneath. Looks super slick and cool on top. When you get underneath, you're like, "Whoa."
>> Oh, this thing is nuts. Did I show you this the other day?
>> Yeah. Yes. It's as big as it looks.
>> This is a true statement.
>> Thursday.
>> Oh, I hear 28. What is it?
25 seconds. Man, you got to get around there and get a spot. There you go.
stepped it up.
You are way [screaming] late, fellas.
13.
This the only guy on the schedule right here.
Three.
Oh, no. That was five.
There's only two of them on the line at the start.
One swung way wide and then cut the guy off moving all the way back in. that there is no planet on which that should not be a penalty on this boat.
That should be your leader. I can't hear it. I have no idea. Yeah, you don't get to go in on lane 18 and then come across the lane one.
That's not how that gets played.
But who knows?
But what I do know is we do not have an exciting race here.
There's one that is kind of moving and sounding like a race boat and the rest is struggling like turn one. See that?
All right.
I think we're going to bail out soon. If there's something you guys need to see, uh, drop me a message here.
Oh, I didn't even realize that. Poor sale signs.
No price tags. I think I'll offer him 20 bucks, right? [music] >> Oh, no. Pardon me.
Okay, let's get down to the end real quick here and see if we missed anything. Look at this strategy session.
Look at this. Hang on. Let's listen in.
We'll figure out what they're talking about.
>> Nothing.
>> Oh, they're talking about sport hydro.
>> Probably G1 since it's out. In other words, smaller motor. 26.
>> I should have bought one. You know, the motor.
>> I could have just swapped it into my boat and run it again.
>> I didn't know the boat was going to work. I might >> fourth for David Baker.
>> How'd you like that first turn, Jimmy?
That was fun, huh?
>> Bring it in.
[laughter] >> Yeah, that looks good.
What do we got here? which is something different.
I can't quite tell. I'm going to say 2M Customs perhaps.
Should say M5 customs on there. Oh, we're uh we're undergoing a renovation.
>> No, I would say it's brand new and being built. There's not even any holes out of the radio box with which to hook anything up.
>> You need to listen to me. You block You just blocked my >> Well, there you go.
Bring bring it and build it and hope you get it done in time for the race. Oh, now we're talking. Let's put two motors in one of these insane things, >> dude. So funny. Hold on.
Oh, that's how one of the giant boats got here. Or two smaller boats or four smaller boats or whatever. I thought about that. Somebody said I should just ship my boats to Voodoo and fly down there. And boy, that had saved me two weeks of my life driving.
But man, you know, you get nervous sending your stuff and I don't know, and you don't have your your own truck.
It's just weird. All right, I don't know what's going to race next. I'll come back if it's something looks interesting. Um, hit me up. Leave a message on the channel if um there's something specific you'd like to see or hit me up on Facebook or something. I'll try to check those things. Okay. All right. More later from the 2026 Namba Nationals, Kenowick, Washington. Y'all come back now. Sunday, day two of racing at the 2026 Namba National.
>> All right, Mr.
