This project prioritizes high-tech spectacle over scientific integrity, effectively rebranding genetic modification as "de-extinction" to secure venture capital. Given their history of misleading claims, these 3D-printed eggs appear more like expensive marketing props than genuine biological breakthroughs.

Biosciences company says it grew chickens in 3D printed eggs in effort to revive extinct birdAjouté :
Okay, this next story feels like a real life Jurassic Park or maybe not depending if you believe this company's claims. There's a company out there called Colossal Biosciences and it's been making a lot of news over the last few years for its efforts to bring back extinct animals. This company is making news again after it claims it grew more than 20 chickens in synthetic eggs that it 3D printed. And the ultimate goal here for this company is to bring back this extinct bird called the Moa which existed in New Zealand more than 600 years ago. It was a big bird stood just under the height of a basketball hoop.
Its eggs were massive like eight times the size of an ostrich. But does this effort to bring back extinct animals carry any sort of credibility? Colossal Biosciences receives a substantial amount of scientific scrutiny. Like back in 2025, the company claimed it brought back the extinct dire wolf. But then people in the scientific community called them out and then Colossal Biosciences was forced to admit that they were not dire wolves but rather heavily genetically modified gray wolves. Maybe this egg thing is just another colossal claim. Perhaps not and the company can bring back the big bird or just ruffle feathers again.
