I am clearly an old man as you can now see on the screen and I do enjoy ranking things especially K-pop discoraphies and we are at the finale of this second four group ranking. Can you believe it? We've been listening to these songs for 10 weeks and I have really, really enjoyed this ranking. All four of these groups are absolutely amazing. Uh they've all made a fan out of me and I will continue to cover them with rankings for their own series. Uh after this, uh it may be a few weeks before we get those started.

[00:00:46]Uh, but I will continue to rank their entire discoraphies because I really enjoy them and I really like um comparing their songs, but they won't be going against each other anymore.

[00:00:57]They'll just be going against their own songs. Each new song will be going against like all of the Inmix songs will be grouped together, all of the Billy songs will be grouped together, etc., etc. Um, speaking of those rankings, here are my current rankings. And I'll just scroll down through the lists. I'll [snorts] try to do it slowly. Feel free to pause anywhere you want.

This includes Boompala by Lucerapim, Zap by Billy, one that you won't find a review for here on YouTube, but I do have on my Patreon a review of Caution by Inmix with Anderson Pack, and then a brand new one that just came out um yesterday. Uh Sugar Honey Iced Tea from Baby Monster. That's the only one that I have not already seen, but uh I guess we can include that as a reaction as well as a ranking. So, uh, what we're going to do today, this video is going to be a little bit longer than normal, and that's because I'll be doing the usual rankings like I do, and then I'm going to do what, uh, I call the reranking. Uh, and that's where I look at all of these tunes here and I decide if there's something that I feel like is a little bit too low or something that I feel is a little bit too high, and I will replace them uh, according to my personal feelings in this day. Uh so uh that can be a little dangerous. Um and finally after we do that then each of these uh slots will get a point value. And I'm going to show you what I've got here.

[00:02:52]I've got a little uh kind of I guess a spreadsheet really.

[00:02:58]And this is with our current rankings and everything. There's still four tunes left to do. So they're listed at the bottom currently. Uh but uh what happens is is like as you can see if you are in the number one slot you get 40 points.

[00:03:13]On the other hand, if you're in the number 40 slot, you're only going to get one point. And then we total all those points up. And here's the way the points currently stand. And again, that's with the last four taken off. So, this may change dramatically once I do today's rankings and the re-ranking, but currently Billy's in first place with uh 241.

[00:03:35]Uh let me blow this up so that you can see it better. Yeah, Billy's got 241. Uh Baby Monster has 208, Inmix has 196, and Lucerapim has 165. All respectable scores uh when you consider that we ranked 36 songs so far. Uh but uh whatever we're going to do today is uh going to make it the final for this four group ranking and then each of these groups will get their own ranking series. Uh so let's start with Boom Pala by Lucerapim.

[00:04:10]Okay, we got the little Android guy and this is a a paid advert or there was a a contribution from Android I guess to help finance the video or what have you.

[00:04:20]So, uh, I remember thinking about that when we were when I did the initial reaction to this and, uh, kind of thinking, you know, Android, Android does a lot with K-pop groups, right?

[00:04:35]Android and Pepsi, those are the ones that do that, right? Uh, but let's see what uh, Boom Pala has for us musically speaking, even though I've already heard it and I pretty much know what it is, but let's let's do it anyway.

[00:04:59]Oh, okay. Just use Android to find your happy place.

[00:05:19]I can tell you and I'm I'm just going to say this once and then I I'll get out of the way and we'll just enjoy the video.

[00:05:26]Um, when you are a touring musician, you constantly have to secure work for the time that you're going to be at home because there's no guarantee that you'll ever get to go out on tour again. Maybe you'll be replaced. Maybe the guy will stop touring. uh those kinds of things.

[00:05:43]So like you go out for 3 months, you're home for a month, you better have that whole month booked so that people where you live remember that you're still a player. You just have to do that. You have to constantly market yourself in that way, which means you never really stop working.

[00:05:59]And 90% of the work that I did when I was at home was uh wedding stuff.

[00:06:07]Macarena was always very popular. Even from the time that I first got started playing professional music, I started in a wedding band called Galaxy and it was coming out. And when your part is this and you've got to do that for four minutes, it gets pretty old. And you enjoy the fact that people are there having fun while you're playing it.

[00:06:37]But then because weddings are rather rambunctious, you get to the end of it and they go, "Do it again." And you know, we're being paid to entertain, so we do it again. And we act like we're doing it over and over. Um, but because of that, anytime I hear a macarina sample used, uh, and I even called it wrong, uh, when I did the initial review of this, I think I called it Margarita, uh, but it was just a slip of the tongue and an old man mistake.

[00:07:06]Uh, but anytime I have to do I I hear a Macarena uh, sample, I'm reminded of how miserable some of sometimes the doing those wedding band gigs were. So, this is not going to bode well. Have I said enough? I'm sorry. Uh, and it's not it's not their fault. It's a it's, you know, for 99.9% of the people, that's a banging idea. That's that's a perfect idea. And, uh, if I remember right, the lyrics are very uplifting, and I really like all of that. And, of course, the members look and and sound beautiful.

[00:07:42]So, uh, that I can't hold my Macarena bias against that. Uh, but musically speaking, I'm not going to be very interested, baby.

[00:09:24]Not that I I knew she would be capable of it, but I just mean it's so surprising her vocal approaches on some things. Uh and perhaps the program director told her to do it like that.

[00:09:36]But it her voice is is so cool. Uh when she does different things like that, even on her own tune that she wrote, she took some different approaches that I wasn't expecting. And uh this whole album really folks is a really really good album. So, even if you don't like this song, don't let that um don't let that short you on on hearing a good album. Go check out their album. It's really good.

Luck of the Draw has has pulled up some MVs uh that would not be my favorite LaserMim songs. Um, but there are songs on those albums that would be my favorite laser songs and would rank higher. It's just fate of time and the draw. And um and you know, well, Saraphim doesn't care whether I had to play Macarena for two hours one night at a wedding. So, you know, they didn't make the wrong move. I just have a personal bias against it.

[00:13:04]Uh but it could still not be the very bottom one. You never know. One of these other three might make the make make it to the bottom.

Uh, I'm just playing the harmony part a third above, but I and this will sound atrocious simply because uh it's in the wrong range, but um take that down two octaves. And that's what you get with this. And I tints always remind me of good piano players.

[00:15:24]Uh because good piano players will voice tenths sometimes when they're doing solo gigs. Um and uh yeah, tents are tough for me. I have to really stretch to hit a tenth.

[00:15:41][music] >> And I love those seventh chords like uh those kind of harmonies, those really they just keep adding another third on top of each on top of each phrase, which is really cool. [music] Back.

Um and sometimes it feels like they are both at the same time, which is crazy. uh and very delighting to my ears, but I don't really know how to explain it to you other than to say sometimes you hear I mean the first one's minor and this one's major.

[00:25:47]Uh those kinds of just subtle things uh makes everything uh really pop for me for this one. not to the likes of a dash or or to the likes of, you know, several other inmix songs that I consider favorites like um I really thoroughly expected Heavy Serenade to be the one I'd be ranking today and I knew exactly where I was going to be ranking it. Uh and then this came out and so uh here we are. Uh but first uh let's talk about uh Chocolate Sundaes, shall we?

I'm going to continue to cover all of these groups from here on out uh till I get through their entire discoraphy and then we'll wait for them to make more discoraphy so that we can rank that. Um I'm going to be formatting things differently starting in July. I'm going to be ranking four groups at a time, but to their own lists rather than each group getting its own video, which I know would be preferable, but I just don't have that kind of time anymore. Um, so, uh, one video a week for Billy, Baby Monster, Inmix, and Larapim will continue starting in July, but they'll be ranking against their own lists, not against each other. Uh, same thing for Espa, Blackpink, Y, and IV. they will be all in one video but four different lists. Um, this way I have more time to do things that are outside of just ranking it because right now I mean if you just look at those two that's eight groups total and I've only got seven days a week. So I can't give them any of them one video a day. Um, and it seems criminal to give them just uh two videos a day. So, if I put it in one video and then you can just come and see which part that you want to see. If you're an answer, you can come and see the inmix part. Um, you know, if you're a believe, you can come see just the Billy part.

[00:44:58]Um, but that way everybody gets uh their video in a and they get it up for a full day in as opposed to half a day or something like that because there's still XG and Red Velvet and Idle stuff that I'm ranking as well. And I want to do some more things like um you know things that I haven't seen before. In fact, tomorrow there will be a video with groups that you have suggested that are nothing to do with any of these. Uh I don't I think they're all kind of more like rock groups and I'm going to check that out tomorrow uh and see what we think about those. So, uh, Red Velvet on Thursday, uh, XG on Friday, uh, this week we'll have ESPA and, uh, IV on Saturday, and then Idol on Sunday, and then Blackpink and Y on Monday, and then I'm going to take Tuesday off.
