>> Um, yeah. Welcome. Greetings. Greetings. Uh, you were just watching this little fella. This is an Air75 V2 with a motor swap. These are the GE RC 10225000s on Gemfan 1610s. Um, I like this better on the HQ 1.6 by 1.2 I think they are by three byblades, but they just constantly break the the the HQ ultral lights. like they're just the hubs are just so unbelievably fragile. Um, this is something that gets flown outside and so with propellers that explode all the time, that's a recipe to lose the damn thing and and I don't want to lose it.
Um, so I'm kind of forced to run these Gem Fan 1612s, which are okay. Uh, they're nowhere near as well balanced as the HQ props, which is a bit of a problem. You might have seen some jell-o. Um, it's more than jello- It's just like there's just vibrations that that echo through the entire build. Um, luckily it's analog so you can you can't really tell because the video quality looks terrible anyway. Um, but yeah, this is an interesting one. I this um yeah, so it's got the new Matrix flight controller without the front mounting point. Um, this is the Air75 V2 frame, which I really like how how thin these ducts are since it's an outdoor rig. It slides around real nice. Um, but boy is this a nightmare to tune. Uh, there are so many frame resonances in within this one build. I think there's like four distinct frame resonances. Um, yeah, really, really tough. I I I can't really recommend this to anyone. Um, realistically for something like this, you want to go 2S anyway. Uh, Beta FPV very kindly sent this to me and so and it's it's fun to fly and and I have a bunch of 1S, 450, and 480 mAh batteries.
You were just watching this Lava 480 um, floating around and so yeah, every once in a while when I fly this, it's it's fun. the flight characteristics was fun, but it's yeah, the tuning is a is a bit of a disaster. Um, the other problem is like a twominute run time with with a brand new 480 mAh battery. Um, when you go to 2S on a build like this, it doesn't really gain any significant amount of weight. Um, and you get easily 3 plus minutes of run time with even more power. Um, so yeah, longer run time and better power to weight ratio. What's not to like? This this kind of setup is pushing 1S a bit outside of its kind of comfort zone, we could say. Uh, but again, if you've got a bunch of 1S450me batteries, uh, this is about as good as it gets. Also, it has one of my um custom length OT microvs on it. Um, camera is a CO3, which is great. Um, the canopy is their Air V2 canopy, which is fine. Uh, but yeah, tough build. th this this Air75 V2 frame is a part of the problem. It's just they've sacrificed everything for lightweight. Um, and that makes it really really challenging to tune. Um, I I I'm I'm thinking about moving this over to a more substantial frame. Um, namely the Modbula 7 V4.
The only problem with that frame is this prop guard here is like twice as thick.
So, it's not going to be as slidy outside. And that's kind of what makes this really fun to fly is is how slippery and slidy it is cuz the side profile is is fairly aerodynamic, right?
There's not a whole lot to to catch the the air when you slide sideways or backwards or whatever. Um, so yeah, I don't know. For an analog rig, it's it's fun to fly. I I I wouldn't want to try to do an edit with it because of all the vibrations um at different throttle amounts. Uh but yeah, fun to fly. And that's what analog kind of is, right? If if you're doing analog I I love folks that do analog edits, but like yeah, it's um you don't expect crystal clear video because it's 640 by 480. In the chat, Jay Tux was first. FV was next. MAYBE WE CAN GET YOU IN the sim or maybe a seat live rip." Uh, sims don't run on this computer anymore. Uh, veloc drone is it's just you have to download the veloc file is like 70 or 80 gigs. Um, and when I bought this computer, uh, and it and it forces that install to be on the the internal hard drive, um, and when I bought this computer, I did not get a very big, uh, internal hard drive, unfortunately. And applications nowadays are just gigantic and they have eaten my entire hard drive. And so, yeah, I am uh I I can I I could probably get liftoff to run, but I I don't like sims, to be honest. I like with tiny whoops and like out in front of the house, I'd rather just fly for fun. I feel like, you know, when you're brand new, the Sims are great, don't get me wrong, and they're really, really, really important, but after a bunch of years, when you start to get good, the sim is another um it's another set of muscle memory that you have to learn. And so like once you get to a point in of of flying skill, one of the most important things is to just nail down like as few sets of sort of muscle memory as you have. Just get used to flying the same thing over and over again. And so when you then keep going back to the sim, you keep breaking out of your, you know, knowledge and and skill set of flying for real to to kind of fly the sim. Um, so yeah, not much of a sim guy anymore, but again, if you're, you know, less than like two or three or four years into FPV, sim time is going to be super super super super important. Um, live RIP is is more likely. I I depending on um depending on how my video is going to get over to Madman's stream. Um in theory I can point the video source at the the VRX. Uh but we'll see. We'll do it live. Uh Ryan Sedat says Brandon and I spent hours on this build with the only difference being the '04 and Matrix HD1S. I'll drop the tune and filters we settled on in general nonsense if Brandon's beans uh Brandon McB beans is okay. Um I can tell you that he will be okay for the record. I've just I know Brandon well enough. Um Jamie Flies FPV says, "Oh, hi friends in Seattle FPV."
What's up, Jamie? How are you? Uh Ryan also says, "I think we got it 90% dialed in. We used the DTM notch to attack the frame resonances." Um yep, that was the the first one that I was using uh instead of the gyro notch and it completely fixed it. I have so many resonances that I'm I'm actually having to use both. I'm using the the DT term notch as a much bigger notch to attack the biggest spike of frame resonance.
And then um within that giant spike of frame resonance, there's another really strong tiny little spike. And I have the um I have a gyro notch attacking that little one. It's only like like 10 hertz wide. Um it's a mess. Th this is this is one of, if not the most challenging um rigs that I've ever tuned. And without Blackbox, I wouldn't be able to do that.
Without Blackbox, I would have just pulled this apart and use this AIO somewhere else. Probably gotten rid of this frame because I think the frame is the biggest part of the problem. Um but yeah, bit of a nightmare to be really honest. I'm I'm I'm kind of shocked that well Beta FPV doesn't sell this with these motors. This becomes a problem when you put really high power motors on it. Um so yeah, Beta FPV sells it with low power motors and that helps it quite a bit. Uh but yeah, uh trying to find where I'm at in chat.
Chef Bruno says, "Check the TFR for Georgia Wednesday. Shake my head." Um, is it a mess? Is there something going on? Jordan Daddy says, "Uh, just join your Tiny Whoop tier. Um, I was I actually spent some time uh looking for real jobs today, unfortunately, though. Um, it's Yeah. as as the economy gets demolished more and more, you know, those of us that are doing cool and weird [ __ ] uh are going to get hit the hardest. And so, yeah, it's not looking good for me doing this full-time moving forward. Um, but, you know, back when I when I had when I was working at Benefit Focus, um, I started to do these live streams and I was able to do two a week um, somewhat comfortably.
that was when I was living a much simpler life in an apartment um without children. And so I don't know. I I don't know what's going to happen here. But um yeah, I'm trying to actually find a job at uh an airport down the street. I figure maybe, you know, uh I've been out of the job market for so long that I I don't I I'm I'm very confused as to who I I feel unhirable. Um and so yeah, I feel like it has it has to have something to do with Aeronautics for me to be able to stand out, especially with how, you know, demolished the the job market has become as well, right? Um, so yeah, I don't know. I I'm I'm sure that it'll take me forever to to find a real job, but um yeah, it's uh it's looking like that's that's direction that uh that I'm going to need to go, which is a shame, but you know, sometimes things fall apart. Uh I will continue to do as much of this as I possibly can, that's for sure, because I love hanging out with you guys. Um but yeah, it's been a great ride. I'm super lucky to have gotten to um do this full-time for the past uh three maybe fourish years. Um most people don't get to do that and and so yeah, I'm incredibly lucky. Incredibly incredibly incredibly lucky. Uh which is the important part here. So yeah, we'll see. We'll see what happens. Uh Ryan Sedat says you have to try the zone FPV sim. It runs on a potato and it doesn't take up a ton of space. Um, I doubt that it's Mac compatible though.
Most sims are PC only. Uh, and I am Mac only. So, yeah. Uh, WK says, "Did you try the zone sim? It is the only one that doesn't mess with my muscle memory." Uh, I have not. No, I've I've not tried that sim. I always just kind of assume that they're they're not Mac compatible. Maybe it is. Uh, Capital C says, "I dusted off the old 5 in this weekend and after flying a few batteries, I decided I don't like flying 5 in anymore. It's scary." Micros rule.
Um, I had a similar sort of realization at Sloth actually. Um, I flew a a 2-in battery or two and then I put one of my lightweight big propeller like 605 gram all up uh 4.9 in prop uh 5-in rigs and it felt awful. It just it I mean in fairness the the the main flying area at Sloth is not massive and massive spaces are what 5-in rigs are really for. Um, and so yeah, it was it's it's not small, but it's also not like the size of a football field. Um, and so that certainly didn't help, but like yeah, I don't know. It was uh like the pacing of it and like it it just it felt awkward. It felt very very awkward. I'm I'm sure that if I took it out to a big open field, it would feel a lot better.
But there's a school of thought of like 5 in does everything and anybody that doesn't fly 5- in all the time is dumb.
Um, and that's just not true at all.
That's that's just a silly thing to uh for for the the 5- in fanatics to uh to hold very close. But, you know, we know the we know what's right. We know it's you should use the the right tool for the right job. Uh, this t-shirt is available. My dad had these t-shirts made, five of each size. Um, super super super cool of them. And that's I'm I'm just I'm not going to use it for anything until these companies put some kind of guard rails or just generally give any [ __ ] at all about the damage that it's doing. Um I I I won't touch it. And and if there is one of them that they are doing it somewhat responsibly, somebody let me know. Um and I will that that is about the only way that I will use any of them. Um, from what I've seen so far though, none of them seem to give a rat's fat ass. And they're just foot to the [ __ ] floor. Like, [ __ ] it.
Everybody else is doing it. Let's just, you know, potentially ruin everything.
And I I I, you know, can't be a part of that. Uh, Kevin, do you know of any that have have any sense of of ethics or are they all just still foots of the floor?
Um, the trouble is that like they have each one has spots where they're doing better than the others and then spots that they're doing worse than the others. There's not one that I that I would be like, "Oh, yeah. If you want the ethical choice, this is the one that is the one to go."

Fair enough. I mean, at some point with uh with how big the backlash seems to be, um at some point one of them has to realize that if they put some goddamn guard rails on it that a bunch of people will start using theirs over the others. I I I have to think that um that will eventually happen. But yeah, at the moment I just I won't uh I won't do it. Uh Ryan Sedat says, "The Zone is Mac compatible." No [ __ ] Uh run it on my MacBook Pro M1 all the time. Okay, so there's three Mac compatible sims now.

And so, a part of this is that I kind of burned the sim out, and I would rather fly for real. Um, but yeah, that's just me. Don't let that turn any of you off to the sim whatsoever.

So, there's four sims on the Mac. Four of them.
Chef Bruno says, "Infrastructure inspection with a camera drone." Gh, it's so that stuff is so competitive.
like, yeah, there's money in it, but like oh my god, the the competition for those jobs and like it seems like there's been a I I know that there's been a horrible race to the bottom um with with those jobs and and I' I've seen on some of the Facebook groups like people taking gigs for like $50. Like, dude, that's not going to cover the [ __ ] gas to and from um nowadays. And so, I don't really know. I I I'm sure the folks that are like dialed in on infrastructure inspection are making great money, but like I would have to, you know, I'd be starting from scratch.
So that would be like that would be a hell of a buildup. I I think >> would you potentially work for an established company that's doing inspection?
>> Yeah, maybe. Yeah, that would be much that would be way more realistic, right?
like and and to be really honest like I never wanted to to run my own business.
Like it's I you know I don't want to do accounting. I don't want to do like I just want to [ __ ] fly and like live stream, right? And that's why this doesn't work because I want to do the fun things and the and the all the other things that are associated with being your own boss suck and I'm not very good at and and I don't have the the I don't have good uh yeah, I don't know. So yeah, that would that would uh work a lot better for me and probably be the only way that I would be able to do that to be honest.
Um, that's a really good call.

I just got I just have to leave a note for myself. All right, cool. Um, why do I have Instagram open? What was Oh, to message Shelby. That's right. Uh, Jimmy the cow says needs our love. No, it's all good, Jimmy. You don't have to do that. Um, the cow asks kindly with a sweet and soft moo. It's all good, brother. I like it's this isn't an issue of like like I need to make a $100 more a month. Like I need to make a thousand dollars more a month and like that's just, you know, that's just not sustainable with with it's it's fine when I'm getting flying gigs, but I that is like really really really dried up. Um, and it has been over the last few years since like the FPV bubble was popped. Uh, but yeah, without the flying gigs, it's like I'm not even close. And like, yeah, I have a couple big ones a year. Um, and like every year I seem to get like one more big gig, but that that's recurring, but that's not enough. And, and yeah, it really sucks.
But I got to do what I got to do. You know, this this family's got to eat. Uh this house eats an an absurd amount of money. There's, you know, there's like over three grand worth of work being done to the backyard tomorrow. Like it it's it's just Yeah, life is uh infinitely expensive uh now more than ever. And it's only going to get worse, too, right? Like it's it's going to continue getting worse for at least another two years.
um as you know the the top 1% destroy our all of the rest of our ways of life. So yeah, I got to be prepared for that. Unfortunately, it sucks, but you never know what the future holds. Uh Hotbox Slays says, "Trying to build a 3.5 in Bando Basher drone. I picked out the FlyFish Volidor 3.5 frame. Can you recommend a motor that will be dur durable enough and still fly well? Uh yeah, the XNOVA 1804 3500 KV and you can get that with either T-mount or M5 nut.
Uh the Volor is probably a a pretty good frame for that. Other options are going to be the uh Quad Mulla F3 the Quad F35 Siren A. Um, and then if you don't care about like top plate in view, uh, the Grinder Arino is a great frame. So, yeah, a couple different options there, but, uh, for motors, it doesn't get any better than the than the XNOVA 1804s. They are just unbelievable.
Run them on 4S. Don't fall for the [ __ ] 6S hype. It's not what you want. It's going to blow up ESC's or AIO's quicker than 4S. Um, 3500 KV will be enough on three and a half inch props. Uh, so yeah, that'll be a um that's pretty much the exact setup for my Siren A, which is a um a beefy bastard.
And 3 and 1/2 in flies really good at that weight, too. Um, so yeah, you're going to be like between 300 and 330 gram. Uh, which is where you want to be with a 3 and 12 inch prop. Sub 250 with a three and a half inch prop sucks. It's way too big of a prop area for not enough weight. Um, so yeah, those 1804 motors with like a 4S850 mAh battery um are going to put you little over 300 grams. It's going to fly awesome. You're going to love it.
Uh, Fizz PV says, "Yeah, the work gig uh with the nice spots." Gotcha. Yeah, it's tough, man. Jeff Bruno says, "Uh, can I get one that says only big rigs land here? I prefer my rigs BBW."

Cole says, "Lol, read the whole comment." Um, I did. I did. Yeah. Lots of people use an AI to to like get a job and then the AI does the job for them and they just sit at home collecting a paycheck. Um, yeah. I don't know. I I like as as interesting as that is, I I I I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. That that you know that that's not like I don't know to to me that I I just don't find that to be ethical. I'm just that I'm a [ __ ] weirdo though. Don't if if one of you guys is doing that, more power to you. Um but I Yeah, I I I I take work like weirdly serious. like the the the the work that I do in in my life in the the short time that I'm here. Um is like in this weird way like the mark that I leave on the world. Um and so I take it I take the work that I do really serious and and I try to do and like that is what drives me to do a really good job. Um and so yeah that I I wouldn't be able to like I wouldn't be able to do that. It's But again, that's just me. That's just me being a a goddamn weirdo. Um, Capital C says, "Just snagged the t-shirt." Thank you, dude. Very, very cool. Uh, Striker says, "Any tips for tuning by ear? I've only ever used blackbox." Yes, listen for the uh oscillations. Listen for anything that doesn't sound normal. And I know that sounds like duh, but when you're actually doing it and like it makes a sound that's not normal, your brain's going to go, "Oh, it must have be it must be this thing or it must be this other thing." No. Like when it makes a weird noise, like stop. Like deal with that. Don't like make excuses for it.
Um, and so yeah, builds like builds should sound clean and smooth and crisp.
Um, when they start doing anything that you don't tell them to on the sticks, that is a problem. And that is a sign that usually you're overtuned.
Um, Striker also says, "By ear, and just by feel, I mean, typically you won't feel it. You'll you'll hear it um and you'll see it. the the the whole like being able to feel in FPV is is pretty rough because you're not on the quad itself. You're just standing around. And you know, if you've flown a couple thousand batteries on that specific rig in a row, yeah, okay, you might be able to feel some some microscopic one millisecond changes when you move the sticks, but most people haven't. You know, almost nobody has. And so the whole like, oh, I can feel it. I I can't feel it.
Usually that's placebo. That's your brain tricking you. That's you being able to see it or hear it and then your brain being like, well, all the the top pilots talk about feeling it, so I I can feel it, too. It's kind of nonsense.
Uh Jimmy the Cow says, "I missed a few streams. Any word on your frame being available for sale? I sent some money to your page uh PayPal because Moo." Uh no, to be honest, man. I I've I've uh I've been thinking about other stuff. I've been working on other stuff. Um I'll get to it when I can as as soon as I possibly can. I will absolutely get around to it. Uh but it's uh yeah, it's it's one of probably over a hundred things um that are just pulling my attention and and my time here, there everywhere. Um and there's just yeah there's only so much time in a day. Uh so and yeah with with with making a product it's it's like infinitely time consuming and like with frames it's hard. Like you can't charge $200 for a frame. you know, you charge like 50 bucks for a frame and if you're lucky, the the manufacturing cost is like less than 40. And so it's like, yeah, it's it's a lot of work with with not a lot of payoff. And and unfortunately, those things I I I just can't focus too much on. But I will get it done. I said that I will try my best to get it done this year. I'm about halfway through the year. Um, I I finally got one of the things done by breaking one of the arms.
Um, I just have to find the time to link back up with Ryan. Um, discuss the final design and then do all the running around of trying to figure out who's going to make it, what all that stuff is, the hardware that it needs, the the packaging, the [ __ ] name, the right, there's just there's a million things.
Um, but yeah, it's it's one of the 100 plus things that are uh that are on my plate. Uh, I will get to it as as soon as I possibly can. Noise/jyro issue. I feel that the solder on the motor wires could be better. No pads are touching. Um, motor wires wouldn't cause this issue.
Um, I'm going to guess that the replacement flight controller that they sent you has a PID tune on it that is not driving with um the the build, the frame, the motors, the props, the the setup that you've got. Um, so I think what you want to do is just reflash the take screenshots of all the stuff or take a diff or whatever you're you're comfortable with. I don't know where you're at in your FPV journey. Um, but make sure you have a backup of everything that's on it just in case you need it and then install do a fresh Betaflight install to start from scratch. Um, and see and then get the Don't do any tuning. Don't do any filtering. Leave that [ __ ] all alone.
Get everything in there so it'll fly and just fly it on a completely stock Betaflight tune and see if it keeps doing it. If it keeps doing it on a totally stock Beta Flight setup, um it's probably a hardware problem. The gyro is probably bad or something happened during the reassembly process and you've got too many vibrations getting in there. Um essentially when when you start to apply, so drone's on the ground, zero throttle, you arm it. The pit loop is actually not active. It's just sitting there with the motors at idle. when you start to raise the throttle, when you get to like, I don't know what it is, six, seven, eight, nine, 10% throttle, um, the pit loop turns on. And the pit loop is error correction.
And so when you're doing that, as soon as that pit loop is turning on, that's when it's going full throttle. And it's it's the pit loop feeding back into itself. Something is happening. For example, if if during reassembly you have like your antenna really close to the board or or the antenna is really close to the gyro and it's hitting the gyro because the whole damn thing because all these things always vibrate, right? They're vibration machines. And so if that antenna is hitting the gyro, the gyro doesn't know what the [ __ ] going on. The gyro is like, h, it gets hit and it uses the motors to try to fix the error, right? anything hitting the gyro or the gyro being bad or too much electrical noise, the the the error correction has no idea. It has no way of telling the difference between that and and propwash. And so when it gets a bit of data that says this or this or this or this, it fires the motors up to try to push against it. And then if that doesn't fix it, all hell breaks loose, right? Because now it really doesn't understand what's going on. So maybe it's going to go the other direction.
Maybe.
And so, especially like if there's something like an antenna tapping against the gyro, it's gonna go one way, it's going to tap against the gyro, it's going to go the other way, it's gonna tap back, right? And so, something's going on. It's when that pit loop is activating that the thing is freaking out. Um, and so, yeah, a lot of times when you get a flight controller, it'll it'll be from a quad and it'll have that tune baked into it. And sometimes that tune is is too aggressive for um your setup. The Champion Edition had pretty powerful motors, 70230,000s on a pretty lightweight frame. And so that's a pretty overpowered kind of tiny Whoop. You have to have things tame. If that flight controller came with um a tune on it from a lower power rig, that could be the problem. So start by just fresh beta flight. get back to square one and then take it from there.
Hopefully that helps. Aloy, >> one of the things that stands out to me is this. This smells a lot like what the standard four things could potentially uh fix. Board orientation, motor configuration, whether it's, you know, X or uh props in versus props out, motor order, and then motor direction. Those are the four things because every a lot of people are like, "Oh, it like it like flips out or it does this thing and that always on launch immediately I put a little bit >> little bit of little bit of throttle in and it flips out." that is always start with those four things and then then move on to uh move on to your redoing beta flight whatever you can also check uh if you suspect it's a bad gyro which I wouldn't go there initially but if you suspect it's a bad gyro you can go in beta flight on just set it on the on the desk and uh there is a gyro trace forget which tab it's on but there's a gyro trace that'll show you all three axis axes and you can just watch it and if none if they'll they'll wobble just a little tiny bit just from the natural vibration of stuff around. U but if it's not jumping around or whatever then you pick it up and slowly rotate it on each axis to make sure that it tracks appropriate the gyro tracks appropriately. Remember the gyro is only only getting movement. It doesn't know the exact orientation. I think is about to show this. Um, and so just watch watch that watch that movement. Make sure that it doesn't doesn't jerk around.

>> Yeah. So, got everything you need.

>> That should be quiet and clean. And I mean, you can probably up the scale.
Nope, you can't up the scale. You can only down the scale. But yeah, this should be clean if it's sitting on the desk. If I start moving around, it's going to go crazy. But this should be nice and clean. And that's how you check your potentially to see if you have a bad gyro. That doesn't always work though.
Um, but the biggest thing that Kevin first mentioned, which is super important with a new flight controller, I didn't even think of this, is you plug it in, you come here to setup. You hold the quad in your hands, and you go nose down, and then you go nose up, left, right, yaw left, yaw right. And if this model is not matching what you're doing with the quad, that's a problem. Then you got to come into configuration and you got to deal with the board and sensor alignment. You got to get the y.
It's usually a yaw problem. It could be a pitch issue, but you have to just keep changing things here on the board and sensor alignment until you can come here and go nose down and it goes nose down.
Nose up and it goes nose up. Left, it goes left. Right, it goes right. Y'all left, y'all right. that can bite you in the ass. Um, and then you're going to come to the motors tab and you're going to first do reorder motors and it's going to walk you through it. And then you're going to do motor direction and it's going to walk you through it. And now you got to make sure >> let's go over Yeah. quadex and motor direction is reversed. Those aren't actually reversing the direction of motors.
>> That is reversing what the what the flight controller believes your motor direction is. They don't call that out well enough here.
>> So, just look at the way that this says the propellers should be turning. And then in the motor direction wizard, you need to match that. And and it's just it's props in versus props out, right?
It's either the fronts go in and then the rears kind of go in in the rear or the opposite of that. And so with a tiny Whoop, it should be props in because it dives better in my opinion. Um, yeah, good call Kevin. Thank you for that, brother. board orientations particularly on these tiny whoop AIO's because frequently they'll have them flipped on the roll axis 180 degrees. Uh that that happens a lot and then espec AIO and put it in a normal uh like a like a normal frame um it'll be 45 degrees off right because they expect to be in a diamond pattern and instead you're putting a square pattern on some frames.
Indeed.
Uh, Matthew Wgner says, "Fiber optic mining tunnel FPV operator would be a very lucrative niche, but uh would have to hand out cards at a conference to go in cold. Every industry has conferences." Um, interesting.
I I find it fascinating that like we we've only scratched the surface of what FPV and drones in general can can kind of do. Uh, I think we've done more than scratch the surface, but um, yeah, there's all kinds of stuff. Jimmy Flies uh, says uh, flying gigs are down this year for me, too. Um, yeah, a lot of this got kind of kicked off at Tulsa Tough, if if I'm honest.
Um, they hire uh I forget the name of the the business, but um it's a a local to Tulsa um local to Oklahoma, I should say, uh photography and uh FPV drone and now drone light show uh team.
And uh they're a big deal. like they've got hundreds of thousands uh invested in their setup and and their gear and they've been around for they've been doing this for uh eight or nine years. He was actually one of the first people to get um the the whatever came before the part 107.
He's an OG. Um and he's got a massive book of business. Uh, and he almost closed the business down in February of this year because over the winter he did not he was not able to book one single flying gig. It was like unbelievably dead. Um, and yeah, like if like sure, okay, he's in Oklahoma, but like still he owns Oklahoma. Um, and it's like if if he can't make it work, what what chance do I have? Um, and so it's been something on my mind uh for a while. And uh yeah, I I I don't know what'll happen if but I I have to prepare myself for uh two more years of of living hell in America, right? And uh yeah, it is what it is.

>> Pretty cool. Pretty cool gig if >> Jesus. Um that's super cool actually. Uh Striker says, "Thoughts on the new T- Motor It's FPV6004.5 3650. Their frame is [ __ ] but the motors, although too low of a KV for me, seem kind of cool and very durable. Um, yeah, they did a 3M motor shaft, which is great, but the KV sucks. 3650, um, you know, 3500 is what the the XNOVAs are, and so on like a three and a half inch prop, 3650 is actually kind of fine. Um, but yeah, they seem good. Uh, I'll go with the XNOVAs over those. I I I think uh but yeah, I I like that they have the M3 motor shaft.
Um yeah, they're okay. It's a great option.
I've had really good luck with the XNOVA, so if I want a motor of that size, I'll I'll go that direction. But it's really really really nice to have another option. Um and so yeah, either or either the X Novas or those those whoever was asking about the Basher three and a half inch rig. Uh that 1604.5 is another really really good option.
Jeff Bruner says uh look at non-destructive engineering environmental construction testing and consulting. Jesus that's a mouthful.
That's what she said. Like NOVA or ACR in Atlanta. Uh they were looking for some drone inspectors a while back. Just a thought. NOVA and ACR. I'm going to open up a couple more tabs here.

Um she is she does like environmental assessments where like especially when natural disasters happen like when the fires on Maui happened um she gets dispatched out there to do environmental studies and one of the things that she was interested in is learning how to fly a drone.

Turns out one of the motors was running one screw and two of the SC stack screws were backing out. Yeah, one losing a motor screw will always uh make all hell break loose. Um nice, dude. Figuring out what's uh what's got these things going is uh what's got these things freaking out is always quite the uh quite the adventure. Uh, Matthew Wgner says, "Low altitude FPV support for wildfire firefighting feels like another gap. Email some wildfire orgs. Uh, your bike race footage proof that you can stay below heliplane altitude." Um, yeah, interesting. Wild water, wild fire, wild fire fighting. Jesus, hard to say. Kevin says, "I know that my local electrical company is hiring pilots to do inspections on high tension power lines. Um, here in Atlanta, there's a uh Facebook group for like normie drone pilots. Um, and inspection stuff pops up there all the time and it is unbelievable how instantly it gets snatched up. There are so it is the the photography drone world here where I'm at is absurdly saturated. So yeah, I don't I don't know about that stuff. And I like I also have practically no experience on photography drones. It like when I fly the Mavic 2 like once a year if that. I I don't know what the hell I'm doing. Like it it it is a whole different kind of thing. So um yeah, I I I don't know.
We'll see. I'm sure I can learn, but like >> it's a trade-off, right? Like >> Yeah. Do you do you fly?
>> Do Yeah. Do you fly on something that is less fun, but at least you're flying, or do you get a job not flying at all?
>> Right. If >> those are your options.
>> Yeah. And and and like it feels like getting a job not flying at all, and then maintaining as much of this as I can flying. I feel like that's going to be what what ends up happening because what I don't want to happen is that I I I work eight hours flying something that's as boring. this is has me bored to tears and then I don't want to have anything to do with flying after that, right? And so, um, but we'll see, you know, and and like I I I'm lucky enough to like have all of this that I've built over the last four, five years, three years, however long it's been, um, as a bit of a safety net.
So, like I can like if I can get somebody to hire me, I can just go and like see if I like it and if I don't like it, just be like, "Nah, sorry. This ain't for me." I've never been able to do that. Um, I've always like gone from job to job. And so, like whatever job I get, it's like, "Well, I better figure out a way to not [ __ ] hate this." And sometimes you get, you know, it's not what you thought it was. Um, and so yeah, I'm I'm very very very lucky this time to be able to approach it in a way that's like, you know, if I get it if if I realize that the the company's ethics are horrible, I can just kind of walk away um and look for something else. I mean, at at the moment, I can, you know, go knows uh what's going to happen. It's it's looking like we're um some of some of you guys might get a draft notice before too long. Um, so you know, it could get really bad really fast, uh, with what's happening in cheeseburger land here. Uh, at which case I might not have that luxury, but it's nice to I don't know.
Um, Ryan Sedat sent a message earlier in the chat. Not sure if you saw it, but I put my filters and PIDs for a similar build in general nonsense. Yep, I called that one out. Um, very, very cool. Uh, Capital C says, "They train you. The money is really good. Uh, but you usually have to travel and are gone for the week." Um, what are we talking about here? Capital C. Scrolling up.

>> Yeah. We'll see if if I can get my foot in in the door with one of those. I I will absolutely entertain that um as an option and if they were to make me an offer, I would absolutely take it and just see, you know, if if if it turns out to be if I turn out to hate it, then I can be like, "Look, this ain't for me." Um I I firmly plan on on keeping all of this going uh as much as I possibly can. Um because this is what I love. This is and and it's been just such a dream to be able to do this. Um, so yeah, again, I'm I'm super lucky. Not for lack of trying. You know, I've put an awful lot of work and effort and and my soul into um being able to do this full-time. Uh it's heartbreaking that that this, you know, this might be the end, but you know, life is more than uh than just doing what you love, you know. Indeed, very relieve the 1s turtle flies. It's very fun to me. Hell yeah, man. Um, I actually have my 1S baby turtle kind of torn apart right here because the um the the leads uh on this BT 2.0 battery cable are like, I [ __ ] you not, like 2 millimeters too short.
Um, so I have to pull it apart just to put a little bit of a longer lead on there. Um, and I kind of ran out of time. I was hoping to get that done and have that flight of flight video from that be the the opening to the live stream, but yeah.

Uh, because clips don't make any money.
Um, people who, uh, so clips don't make any money at all. Uh, and people who watch clips are not are typically not people who will support you. uh it's a it's a much younger audience and clips don't have any perceived value. And so um I actually did a bunch of clips with I over the years I've done a bunch of clips. They're here on this channel. Um more recently I did a whole bunch with some of the Tulsa Tough uh flight footage.
And yeah, sure, you can look like you have a massive e penis with clips and you can get hysterical numbers of views, but you you can't make any money with them.
That they are um completely just like like throwaway stuff, right?
Like have you ever watched a clip a second time ever in your life? No.
Nobody ever does. they get completely buried and they're just gone forever, right? And so, um, they're they're a way to get a a huge number of subscribers and a huge number of views, but YouTube pays nothing. And so, subscribers and views accomplish nothing. Um, they don't make you any money. They don't build your business.
They they just make you seem like you're you're very popular on the internet. And I don't care about that. I I I don't care about being popular or having a lot of subscribers. I care about doing good quality work um that explains things fully, which is the other problem with with shorts is that it's nowhere near enough time to give a full explanation of every of of of a thing. And so it's just and you know that's another part of the reason why they're totally disposable. Um, and so yeah, it's it's just like look at me, look at me, look at me, just keep looking at me, keep looking at me versus like doing, you know, good work that has a home and, you know, hopefully kind of I love the romantic idea of like leaving something behind on this earth, some sort of a legacy and um that is actual education, actual learning, actual um discussions about how the things work within FPV so that you can understand how to fix it, fly it, build it, all that [ __ ] Um, and so yeah, reels and shorts just they just don't do that. Um, this is something that I learned from Joshua actually. Uh, he's spent a lot of time and a lot of effort with a massive audience on reals and shorts. Um, not reals and shorts, whatever they are on YouTube. He doesn't.
>> It's shorts on YouTube. It's reals on Instagram and Tik Tok.
>> Um and so yeah, uh and and >> yeah, the long and short of it is that it it doesn't um it is a it is like marketing only is is sort of the way of thinking about it. But like it attracts an audience that just doesn't support you unfortunately.
Um Joshua has a big enough audience to be able to look at the analytics and see that. Uh and if it ain't work if it doesn't if it's not going to work for him, it's certainly not going to work for me, right? Um and so yeah, unfortunately um as nice as it would be to have the time and and and bandwidth to do lots of shorts because you know, everybody likes having a big number after they're in front of the word subscribers on their channel. Um, unfortunately that's not something that that I can afford to to prioritize.
Maybe someday, probably not.
>> That's also your your stance here is also well supported by YouTubers that are doing YouTube as a full big business. Like the one that the one that I know the mo I've seen mention it most often is Linus Tech Tips. They talk about it on their their podcast on Friday night show.
>> Sure. It's it does not like the the money that you get it the the YouTube ad money as a creator on YouTube is bad enough and then >> embarrassing >> on if you're doing shorts the shorts money is literally orders of magnitude worse.

Like a user has to click through a certain number of videos for certain number of shorts in order for you to get you to get money. Um, the way that a lot of these shorts creators are making their money is ways that I personally find not particularly ethical where they're doing stealth. They're doing stealth marketing. I I have a bunch of pushers now and every single time that I have to put propellers onto one of these pusher rigs, I I my brain just vomits. It's It's just like I you I have to put these upside down, but then I have to hold the thing upside down and then it's just it's just impossible. It's like and so I just have to sit there and like told it right side up this way that way.
Props it. Like it's so weird. Like it's not that big of a deal, but it just melts my brain. So it's not just you.
Dark uke says, "Uh, mine is almost too short. Uh, too short, too. I have it micro zip tied to the back standoff."
Um, that's a good idea for strain relief. Uh Ryan Sedat says, "Seems like my tree topper rig mostly survives from the pool after washing and drying, but seems like the gyro is doing the ticking thing." Yeah, that happens. Uh watched with IPA. Again, crossing fingers it works when when when these things get wet, like even with uh conformal, it's just like you're just rolling a [ __ ] you're just flipping a coin whether or not it's ever going to work properly again. Um sometimes they're fine, sometimes they're not. It's uh yeah, it it's I've had a bunch of uh I've had a bunch of rigs that have survived totally fine and they keep going forever. I've had a bunch where they, you know, they they're never the same again and then they die in short order. Um so yeah, it's tough. Uh Cole FV says, "Any chance uh this is what gets you to move to Portland?" Probably not. Um unless like Maggie and I's relationship falls apart.
um which is always an option with me having severe mental health issues. Uh but I I try really hard to to make sure that that doesn't happen. Um but yeah, it's uh very very very low possibility of that. Uh someday maybe maybe in retirement.

I got a really good response from doing this yesterday, so let's just keep it going. Uh, don't touch my drum set with a 2.5 inch cam frame build. Uh, 86 grams without the battery. It's about right. I I really like the way that they fly up at this weight. This looks like a 2 and 12 inch rig. Um, we've got some RCN power motors. We'll see in a second what they are. There's the cam cam bam frame. Uh, and then it looks like we've got 04 stacked up on top of an AIO. Can't quite tell what the AIO is from the pictures.
Uh, this this battery mounting solution has got to go. Uh, th this is this is rough. Um, can I go full screen? Where the hell's the button for full screen?
No. No. Nope. Okay. Uh, yeah. Th this is the these I I can't believe this works.
Uh but yeah, rubber bands in general, you're going to throw the battery. When you throw the battery, if it comes unplugged, you might not never find you might never find that rig again. Looks like these are RCM Power 1204s. Um and so you got to get this battery mounted on here more solidly. This is a recipe for losing this entire build. And you've got over $200 in this build, right? O4 light, the frame, the AIO. Um, so yeah, it looks like the cam frame has slots here for a battery strap. What you're going to want to do is not just loop the battery strap in here like this. You're going to want the battery strap to go over the middle part and then into this slot strap and then around the outside.
Okay? On both sides, it's going to do that. This is going to give you more width on this pad. Um, and it's also going to pull the battery down into the actual strap itself. Um, yeah, get yourself a really short battery strap. You can find super short battery straps on a couple different FPV websites. Um, and get a proper um, strap setup here because this is a recipe for losing this whole rig. Ask me how I know um how important it is to properly secure your batteries to a rig. I know it's like the most boring part of the build, right? Like you've done all the fancy work and you soldered everything up over and you're just like waiting to go fly it for the love of God. Don't not secure your battery properly before you go fly your brand new rig because you will absolutely lose your brand new rig. And there's nothing worse than losing a build on the first [ __ ] battery. Um, so yeah, let's look at the actual spec.
Uh, RCM Power 1204 8000 KV. Uh, so I've those are a set of motors that I ran on the Caillou Mini for a little bit. Um, I found them to be a little bit too hungry for 2S batteries, which is why the Caillou Mini is going to 3S. I'm just waiting on the AIO. Um the motors were okay. They they really hit the battery hard. Um you can band-aid that by like bringing the uh motor limiting down a little bit or running a lower pitch prop. The problem is 1204 is a big motor. 8,000 KV is already kind of a low KV for 2S. And so by limiting that even more or running a low pitch prop, you got a big motor that's not doing a lot of work. So you're dragging around a heavy ass motor that you're not setting it up to actually do the work that it can do. Uh I'm going to be running those motors on 3S on my Caillou Mini once the AIO gets here. And I think that they're going to be really good. I think 3S uh to bump that 8,000 KV up. Uh, and also they were sagging my 2S batteries really, really hard. 3S should help that. When you go up in voltage, it helps with battery sag. Um, and so I think you might want to follow along with me as I take the Caillou Mini into the 3S land. Um, you've got a Tunar RC Poly F405 AIO on there, which I believe is a 2S to 4S. So, and it looks like you've got XT30, so you should just be able to plug a 3S battery in and away you go. Um, so yeah, don't touch my drum set. Come along for the 3S ride with me.
I think it's going to make that thing into a fire breathing lunatic. And then you can motor limit it down a little bit. Like motor limiting down when you've got motors that are too physically big and not a high enough KV and then you motor limit them. Like that's kind of worst case scenario.
Going to 3S, you're actually going to probably be a little too high in in KV.
8,000 KV is going to get like a 50% bump, so to speak. And so like 8,000 KV on 2S is basically the same thing as 12,000 KV on 3S. And 12,000 is going to be a lot. And so a little bit of motor limiting, away you go. Uh, Radio Master RP1, uh, ELRS, DJI04 Lite.
I thought I saw that on there. Um, and then Gem Fan 2520 props. Yeah, everything else is really good. Uh, but Oh, look. Uh, tough to fit a longer lip balo on top of this frame, but I usually use Lava 2 uh 580 mAh 3S. It's a chunky boy, but still a rocket ship. So, you're actually already on um you're already on 3S. I for some reason I just this battery looked like 2S to me. Um I should have looked at the balance lead.
This is a balance lead with four pins on it. One, two, three, four, which is a 3S. So, yeah, get that battery secured properly and you've got almost identical to what I'm doing with the Caillou Mini.
So, good job. Uh, bad with a tiny whoop.
Just a rebuild of my very first FPV drone. That's fun. Beta FPV cross AIO.
Uh, MO3 VTX, which is such a pain in the ass. God, that is like one of the worst micro VTXs ever. Um, they just they don't work very well and then they just die for no real reason. Uh, CO3 camera.
We love that. 8021 1950 KV. So, those aren't going to make any power. Um, Meteor 75 frame. Uh, Bad says she's fat, slow, and dorky. Hey man, you said it.
Um, this is this is a heavy setup. This is a heavy frame. This is a really heavy canopy and VTX setup. Um, but for rebuilding your your very first rig, this is great. This is awesome. Um, you know, this is a great benchmark. This is something that you can fly and it ain't going to fly good, but it's going to fly. And then everything else is going to fly a lot better than this. And there's nothing wrong with that. I've got my very first 5-in rig right up there. Every once in It's on FR Sky.
Every once in a while, I go fly it. I'm like, "Wow, this is unbelievably bad. I can't believe that that we used to fly [ __ ] like this." And then everything else that I have is like God's gift to FPV. And that's that's great. It's great to have that. Um, so yeah, for like rebuilding your your very first FPV rig, this is I I actually really love this.
Um, here's the stupid MO3 uh VTX. You have to mount it to this canopy and then it's got like the the UFFL port on the back. It's just you have to do stuff like this. It's just silly. Um, and then this is one of the older uh 75mm motorto frames uh that's just not very good. It's just an old school frame, but perfect for this build. Like, this is absolutely perfect. This is so so good. Um, and he's got some HQ ultralite props on it, which will actually make the biggest difference in flight performance here. Um, and so yeah, I would maybe go to a a triblade, though, because these motors are so low KV. Um, I would I would actually go to an HQ ultralight triblade to get a little bit more power out of it. Uh, and the 802 probably has enough grunt to to control a uh a triblade. Uh, two toes with a sound check. Let's see if the the sound will even play through here. So, playing through my ear.

Uh, happy model 1002 20,000 KV 1S battery matrix 4 in one.
Um, that's pretty loud for that setup.
Although the microphone was picking up a lot of uh outside noise, so I think the microphone just gained up really high.
uh striker with a 2.5 inch Bando turtle build having model 12 amp F411 AIO uh with a capacitor uh Beta FPV MO3 VTX that VTX is probably not going to last long unfortunately uh CO3 camera awesome RCM power 122 and a half 11500s great uh custom 3D prints very cool gem fan 2520 uh they're good enough the HQs are a little bit better but they're a pain in the ass to find uh and then he says I need 2512s and the tune is pretty [ __ ] right now, but the power to weight uh is good. So, I just need to tune it properly. 61 g dry, uh 90 g with lava 2s 580.
It's a pretty big battery. I'm surprised that battery fits on there. Um actually, wait, no, I'm not because it's a Bando Turtle frame. Sorry. No, no, no, no. I I I had a brain fart. I was thinking Caillou. Uh interesting front camera print. It kind of looks heavy, but not necessarily. It might be really low infill. Um, it looks like it's pushing the camera really far out front though. I have not looked at a lot of the the Bando Turtle um camera print uh mounts though, just the O4. And the O4 is a fairly shallow camera. So, this could be totally normal. I'm just not used to uh to kind of seeing that.
Um, these are very cool battery holder um, loops here. I dig these. They're nice and thin to keep the weight down. Um, personally, I don't run the the arm protectors on the rear because you you don't smash the rear arm ends nearly as much as the fronts. Um, so I personally only run the fronts, but if you don't want to chew the carbon all up, yep, run all four of them. It'll help a ton. Uh little antenna mount in the rear. I think that's the the sub250G1. That looks really familiar. Uh there's the capacitor. Not a bad spot to put that capacitor. Just make sure like we talked about yesterday that you secure the [ __ ] out of that capacitor. E6000 that capacitor to whatever's nearest to it.
It looks like maybe it's the AIO, maybe it's the arm or the frame itself. But yeah, get that capacitor absolutely locked down otherwise it is going to break off.
Very cool little build though. Looking good. Uh uke with a Hatchy Dory V2 1.5 millimeter frame build. 2G4 we we bleed tree toppers. Ant light uh air 2 75mm ducts.
Oh, cool. Air2. Oh, the you're right.
The Hatchy mounts the ducts internally.
Uh TPU air canopy and gem fan 1610.
Yeah, the the Hatchy Dory frame I if you're going to do a carbon fiber frame, it's a much better idea than the the other really popular carbon fiber frame.
Um it mounts the ducts a lot better that blocks a lot less thrust. And so if you're going to do a carbon fiber whoop, uh this is the way to do it or with a trades's uh setup with the carbon fiber ducts. Um yeah, don't go with a setup where you're just cutting a set of ducts and then bolting them down. That doesn't make any sense and it just wrecks performance. Um yeah, the hatchid is a cool build. It's cool that you're using the um the Air V2 ducts because they're nice and thin.
They're probably pretty floppy, though.
I I I can't imagine that you can crash this thing without these ducts like really deforming. Um, and so, yeah, this is probably not going to be a basher, but for something to fly around outside and not crash hard, this is probably really, really good. Um, we've got the motors bolted down nice and solid, which is going to help with tuning. You know, this is going to be a super stiff frame.
Um, the tree toppers are a great motor choice for a build like this. Um, and then you've just got a good oldfashioned canopy. This is a TPU canopy, so again, it's not going to crash very well. This is a canopy that's probably going to destroy a lot of cameras. Um, but yeah, so I would personally I would Yeah, I don't know. I was about to say I would change that canopy out to something more durable, but this duct design is probably not durable either. So maybe just leave it. And this is just a rig that you don't crash. Um, but yeah, I I actually have a Hatchy Doris V2 frame that at some point I will build out. Uh, but yeah, I just I I don't I crash too much is the long and short of it. Um, and so a setup like this doesn't necessarily make sense for me personally. uh render with a 1S air75 air2 canopy uh G4 5 in1 uh vegan weebleed 25000 KV motors. They're 802s HQ ultralite direct soldered antenna after the B7000 ripped off the UFFL. Uh and I actually get better video now. Uh it's funny how that works, isn't it?
Stuck the antenna through the canopy and soldered the shield back onto it. Oh, you put the ground. Look at you. Okay, that's pretty slick, actually. I've never I never thought of doing that. I I take the So, this is the ground plane.
What what he's calling the shield. This is uh I believe the official name for this is the ground plane. Um and I like remove these to sell ultra lightweight antennas. Um I never thought about putting one back on. That's actually kind of brilliant. You you're you're using this ground plane to hold the antenna against the uh the canopy, which is kind of slick. Um we've got the What the hell frame is this? This is the 75 V2 frame. Um, again, oh, wait, no. Is this just a Beta FPV? I didn't know they had made these in orange. This is the Beta FPV Air V2 canopy, I think. Um, I was about to yell at you for having another 3D printed canopy, but it doesn't look like it is.
I think this is the actual air canopy.
Um, we've got the uh ELS antenna E6000 to the canopy, which looks like [ __ ] but is a really good idea for performance. That's going to keep this thing from vibrating around and causing issues, which is awesome. Um, ugly video antenna, but who cares? We never see these damn things. We're in the goggles, right? Um, the having the ground plane is going to make this antenna work a lot better. So, yeah, 10 points for putting that back on. Um, I think that's about it. There's not a whole lot extra. These Tiny Whoop builds are pretty simple, you know. Um, good looking build, man. Good good part selection. Personally, those 25,000 KV 802s would be a little bit too low for me. I would go with the tree toppers, which are 32,500.
But you've you've done triblades. And so, yeah, you're doing HQ triblades, HQ ultralight trib blades, which is probably the perfect choice for for these motors. Um, if you're looking to do an upgrade down the road, I would definitely go to the tree toppers, though. They'll let you run by blades or you can still run the triblades. And uh something like this is for flying outside and you really need as much power as you can get outside. Um or the GARC 1025,000s. Those are actually my absolute favorite motors. But this is a really this setup is like built to be very lightweight and so sticking with an 802 the tree toppers does make sense here. Um I have a pretty similar build here that I just want as much power as I can possibly get from and that means get RC 10225s. Um, so like if these vegan motors and these triblades are like close to having enough power, the tree toppers are the easy answer. Done. Good to go. If you're looking for a lot more power, the GE motors. Steen looking for some feedback on his latest build. Frame is a Geno 5.1 Bando. I have no idea what that is. Stack is a Mamba F405 Mark II.
Cheap. Um, some of the Mamba stuff is okay. Sometimes it blows up. It's not.
It's somewhere in between. Um, Flywoo seems to be a little bit better. Um, there's a lot of folks that are worse.
The the Mamba stuff seems to be like kind of good enough for for most uses.
Motors or Axis, uh, 1860 KV. Not sure what size they are. Maybe I'll be able to see in the picture. Props. Don't care. It's for Bando flying. Um, care a little bit because there are some propellers that are a lot more durable than others. And so, pay attention to props. Try to find ones that are durable for bando flying. It's going to make a difference. Um, receiver is from AliExpress.
Um, don't know what that is. VTX is TX800. Not sure what that is, but I'm actually intrigued. TX800 VTX. What the hell is that? SpeedyB.
Cool. Ah, nice. That's probably a really good VTX, actually.
Um, and then antenna Foxy or Cherry.
Good choice. Uh, camera ratel 2. I've heard really good things about it.
Uh, I see a 0.5 on the motor here. So, that leads me to leave to believe it's probably a 2306.5.
That's a motor that's going to make all kinds of power. Um, really cool color scheme. I love the uh the the I call this Tiffany blue. Um, if you look up the fashion company Tiffany, you'll see that they have a color that's like trademarked for them that's very similar to this. Um, there's a lot of TPU on this build. A lot a lot a lot a lot of TPU on this build. Um, I'm in the camp of run as little TPU as possible. Um, and then it'll be lighter, it'll fly for longer, it'll fly more accurately. Uh, and so yeah, I I would I would slim down that.
This is probably all up. It's definitely over 700 grams. I wouldn't be surprised if this is like 750, maybe even knocking on the door of 800 gram all up. It's going to depend on the battery. Um, in my opinion, that's way too much. I I like to be as close to 600 all up as I can be. Um, it looks like this is set up for that lightweight DJI action cam. I always forget the name. Um, which will help with the weight for sure. Uh, but yeah. Uh, looks okay. I I would just I would slim this. I mean, you said it's for bando stuff, too. And like bandos have a lot of like tiny little gaps and whatnot. And so when you're really heavy, like, yeah, okay, you've got a lot of protection on there, but like for me, I would rather hit the gap and not smash the wall next to it because I was because the rig was too fat. Um, and so yeah, when when the rigs get really heavy, they don't want to turn. And like if you're not perfectly lined up, you're going to have to turn. Uh, and so I would spend some effort trying to lighten this thing up. I like right off the rip, I would kill the both of these rear uh, arm guards cuz you typically don't hit the rear arms, you hit the front arms. I would look for front TPU arm protectors that aren't so tall because that extra tallness typically doesn't do anything. You want it to protect the carbon fiber and then the the motor is either going to hit or it's not. um the propeller with a triblade propeller, it's going to be the first thing that hits and it's going to slow it down before the motor um bangs up against stuff. So, usually this extra TPU doesn't tend to do a whole hell of a lot. Um this chunk of TPU here on this front camera cage, again, usually you're not going to hit this camera cage. The the front motors and arms are in front of the camera cage. The only time you're going to hit is if you send something right up the middle, which is pretty rare. So, I would bail on this TPU here on the cage. Um, I would also bail on this TPU here. Yeah, I get it. It's It's holding a capacitor, but you can usually just zip tie this capacitor to the bottom plate for like two or three or four less grams. And like, yeah, okay, two, three grams doesn't mean a lot.
Well, when you can remove two grams here, two grams there, three grams here, three grams there, two grams here, two grams here, it adds up. It Mazda calls it uh they literally call it the gram theory. Um and Mazda has the lightest weight cars in the business because of this. If they can save 20 grams, they save 20 grams. Um, and so yeah, the the gain you're there tends to not be like a big chunk of weight that you can pull off. You have to focus on two grams here, one gram there, three grams here, two grams there. Um, and you got to just do that as often as you can to to pull the weight down. Uh, >> are those battery are those battery leads 10 gauge?
>> They look awful big. And there's a and there's something going on here. It's It's been repaired.
>> Yeah. If this is a wireto-wire solder, um, redo this. The the battery lead failing is potentially a total loss because you got no video, you got no beeper, you got nothing, and the rig becomes really hard to find at that point. Um, I have learned the hard way more than once that you don't [ __ ] with your battery lead.
If the battery lead gets mangled, you pull the whole goddamn thing apart and you solder a fresh one to the ESC pads.
If your battery lead has been on your quad for a long time, just replace it. Next time you have to pull that thing apart, replace the battery lead. It is the the thing that you don't screw around with, you don't ignore. Um because when it fails, it either falls out of the air and explodes, falls out of the air and hits someone or disappears into the [ __ ] ether, never to be found again. And so, um yeah, don't mess with with battery leads. That is like something that it is a wear item, right? Every single time you unplug that battery, you're wearing the wire where it connects to the XT60 or 30. you're potentially wearing the connection point between the wire and the ESC if you don't have it strain relief. Um, and the pins themselves, like the pins themselves get old, but it's it's usually the connection point between the XT30, XT60 and the wire and or the wire to the ESC pads. Um, and so yeah, any weirdness on a battery lead is just too sketchy. Um, also you you don't need you don't need this to be this thick. You don't need um wire gauge this big.

>> You can get away with 14. The the thing >> 14, even 16 sometimes, but 14 is the safe bet. What you can do is look at your batteries and they probably have >> some of the racing batteries will they'll they'll ship 10 gauge on uh but most of the time they're 14. Sorry, most of the time they're 12 and that is that is more than enough especially for that short run that you're doing there.
>> Indeed it is. Um clean build. Uh this this uh what wrap whatever this wrap stuff is. Very cool looking for a for a Bando build though. This is going to drive you insane because you're going to get prop strikes on these wires and then this wrap is going to like kind of cover up if it does actually cut through those wires. So yeah, when when this when this wrap starts to get mangled, cut it off and don't run it again. One of the best things that you can do is going to be to run an arm LED or an arm a race wire on the arms so that your your wires come off the ESC.
You solder them up to basically a PCB and then that runs the length of the arm. So your prop strikes happen on a PCB instead of on wires. And also having that there, you have another set of solder pads here. And so you just cut your motor wires really short and you solder them directly up. It makes swapping motors a lot easier. you're going to go through a ton of motors bando bashing. Um, and so yeah, this is this is great to do on the first, you know, the first time you do the build and you take all your glamour shots before it gets demolished, but as you live with this, you're probably going to bail on this uh fancy looking kind of setup. Um, yeah, good work. I like I I like that you've built this clean. It It's not a rat's nest in here. You're holding stuff down with zip ties and electric tape.
You're you're thinking about this stuff and that's huge. Um so yeah, good work, dude.
Uh Eco says, "I call it some [ __ ] with motors. Night vision camera access flying Owl Pro. Interesting." Uh 1S 1022,000 KVRC and power motors 40 mm HQ buys uh beta FPV 5 in1. If you want to ask why, uh it was for Spider's murder dome competition. First challenge was to fly when the sun's gone down. So the night vision camera made sense.

It must be pretty heavy. That looks like a pretty heavy camera, but it also must be super fun to have a super low light camera on a Tiny Whoop. Um, I like it.
Uh, ah, here we go. So, that is just that's Eco's meme rig. Here's the real one. Uh, Krux 3 frame, happy model 122 and a half 11,500 3-in gem fan 38 bylades. Wow, that's a big propeller for a 122 and a half. Beta FPV 5 in1 AIO tiny pinch cam whip monopole antenna uh on 480.
Uh I suspect that this is too much propeller for these motors. It's definitely too much RPM for these propellers. 11,500 is a lot on a 2 and 1/2 in prop. Um it's really good on a 2-in prop. So this is probably an over what we call an overpropped setup where the propeller is too both in this case I think the propeller is too big for the motor. I think you want at least a 123. I really like these 3-in byblade propellers though on a 124. So 122 and a half is way smaller than 1204. Um, if you're just trying to keep it super lightweight, sure, these are going to be very lightweight motors, but I think there's a lot of flight performance on the table going to a significantly bigger motor or a smaller prop. You could drop this down to a 2 and 12 in prop. There's not a really good 2 and 12 inch blade, though. So, like if you want that classic um toothpick flight experience, this might do it. It's just Yeah, it's going to be underpropped a little bit. uh overpropped rather under motored. Uh this uh pinch cam and mount. You're not going to be able to really crash this without destroying stuff. Toothpicks are typically not built to crash anyway, though, so I I I get it. Um we got some rubber bands, I'm assuming, to hold the battery going around the arms here. Uh BT 2.0 on the 180. Yeah, I think that and and it looks like you're not doing uh motor screws. I I don't blame you.
You're already over propped, so adding motor screw weight to the rotating assembly is going to really on a rig like this, that will like really really hurt the performance. Um, so not surprised. Yeah, I would say get this up on a 1204, you can start using motor props and you can start crashing it.
Although, if you're going to start crashing it, you got to go with a a more beefy canopy. But yeah, I mean on a 3-in frame like this, you could make this thing boogie with a set of 124s or 133s.
Um, and then you won't care about the camera and canopy needing to be lightweight. You can put a big beefy molded canopy on there. Get some protection and away you go. That's how I would personally uh build it. But if you like the way that it flies like this, I'm sure it's it's that, you know, classic super lightweight mega propeller uh toothpick flight experience that plenty of people love. And there's nothing wrong with that.

I absolutely love it. Um, and it, you know, from what I've seen of the DJI Potato, it'll fly just a little bit better than an actual Tiny Whoop. So, you might as well call it a Tiny Whoop because it's it's got about that much flight performance.

I I I have not um I've been living in a world of HD VTXs and onboard VTXs on the AIO. Um that I have no concept of what a good VTX micro VTX is anymore. Uh but there probably aren't many. And if you can get one from like Rush Tank or SpeedyB or like any brand name that you've actually heard of before, it's probably going to be fine. V like analog VTXs have been made for the last 10 plus years. Uh and they're probably all about the same nowadays. So yeah, if you can find one from any name that you've that you recognize, it's probably only going to be 15 or 20 bucks anyway. just snag it and away you go. Um, not many people are using external itty bitty VTXs anymore.
Um, so it's going to be tough to find anybody doing any kind of a review on them. Um, you don't happen to know anything about that, do you, Kevin?

These motors, this is like a a 4mm tall, 22 or 23 mm wide motor that like this is back when nobody knew what the [ __ ] they were doing. Like this is this is just a nightmare on so many levels. It's a miracle that these things flew. the the flight firmware was so like I'll bet you you could put a a very modern flight controller in this and brand new Betaflight and it would still barely fly because these motors aren't going to make any power. This frame is going to be a goddamn nightmare. You're going to have all kinds of [ __ ] wobbling around. This is >> Yeah, this is like miracle that these old builds flew at all.

This is the best wall build I've ever seen. All the antennas, the freaking eyeballs in the front. I love it. Keep that on the wall forever, tough guy. I dig it. Uh the new air wall drone.

Um cool. Uh here we go. Here's the uh the whoops that tough guy was talking about.
Uh so there's the pavo pico, I think he said. Uh and then here's the more standard whoop. Looks like the what is this? The cockroach frame. Yeah, it's got the little hooks on the back.
So, this is probably pretty heavy. Uh, and then the Pavo Picos. I mean, they're, you know, they're they're basically a cinematic rig.
Uh, I want to look at what the the setup is, though. 75mm Whoop, 1003 22,000 KV.
Okay, so this guy here is on 1003, which is a really big motor. Um, but then it's only 22,000 KV. And so this the the size of this motor does not match the KV. And so this is a setup where you're actually underpropped.
This is too much motor for this size propeller and for this low of a KV. Um, this is a motor that would actually benefit from being spun up on 2S with a motor limit. You would need to motor limit down to like at least 90%, maybe even like 85 or 80.

So on 2S, make sure you motor limit these down because the Yeah, that's a lot. 1003. I I've yet to find a 1003 motor that's a high enough KV to be ever run on on 1S unless you go up to like some crazy like 2 and 12 inch or or something like that. But yeah, um interesting canopy. I don't I can't say I've ever seen this this canopy design before. Um, it's a TPU printed canopy, so you sacrifice durability, but it's fairly clean, so I guess it's not being crashed very much. Um, which is totally fine. Looks like it has adjustable uptilt in the front here, which is kind of slick. Um, so yeah, if this is on 2S, it's it probably actually flies pretty decent because these motors, uh, 103s are really good. But you know what's funny? On 2S, this is underpropped.
Um these these motors would would uh do better on a two-inch propeller. This is a 1.6. Um and so this is on 2S. This is underpropped. On 1S it's kind of overpropped but it's actually just under KVD if this is on 1S. Um, but yeah, look for a a more There's a Yeah, you want to put the pitchiest prop that you can on here. If this is a 1.6, um, look for the most pitchy 1.6 props you can find. And that should wake these motors up a little bit. Although, I mean, if it's 2S and it's on 20 and it's 22,000 KV, it probably has all the RPM in the universe. Um, and so it actually might be totally fine set up like this.

>> Oh, very cool. Okay, so that's going to be a good canopy then. It's I I dig it's it's got some thickness here. So, it might I never trust TPU canopies on on heavy rigs that that are going to be crashed outside. So, like that's just me being crazy. Um, a trades tests a lot.
So, this is probably a really good canopy. I dig it. Um, and then the Pavo Pico is on 1031 14,800s.
Uh, and it should be a 2 inch prop.
That's That's a lot of Wait, no. 148. No, no, no. That's probably about right. Yeah, that's that's that's probably a good motor setup for that. The the Pavo Pico is pretty heavy though. I would I would maybe keep going up. If it doesn't uh if it doesn't fly as good as you want, the answer is going to be bigger motors. Um it's a 2-in prop. It's a big propeller.
Uh think like 1103. Think 1202 and a half, maybe even 123. Pavo Pico is a heavy bastard, right? Like this the the frame, this big ass chunk of plastic like the the guards like this is a heavy build. you need to support that with big old motors. Um, so yeah, I I would keep stepping that motor size up. 1003 is like as small as I would go on this thing. Um, if you want more performance, yeah, keep stepping that motor size up.
Try to keep the KV up there, though.
14,800 is is Yeah, don't go too low on the KV here.
Uh, tough guy says, "Walk." Okay, so that's the the old school build is a Walker Runner 250 Pro. Damn. Flew it once, line of sight, landed hard.

>> These are the HDLRC motors. I've had really good luck with them on the um on the uh uh Max Frames M2 build and yeah, they're great for 2in props. This is probably a pretty heavy 2-in build though. I'm going to assume that this is well over 100 grams. Um and so it's probably okay, actually. You might No. Yeah, probably dig that. I like it.
Uh, and then, uh, cringey build I was looking for.
So, that's like a pavo pico center section dropped onto some sort of a carbon fiber frame. Um, this carbon fiber frame does not have the the weave going in the correct direction down the arms. This is what you don't want to see. And so, this is a frame that's probably not going to survive many crashes. But, it looks like it's on silly little motors. And I have a feeling that this is a bit of like a meme build just sort of thrown together.
So it's fine.
Uh Mark Ridge Ripper Mkhitrich very first 5-in freestyle build upgrade from 3.5 in Grinderino. Uh it's the most expensive frame in the world, the era 5 in, but it seems to be a pretty goddamn strong frame. uh motors are the the it's FPV 2306.5750s.
I've heard great things. Stack is the the Velox. I haven't really heard anything about it, but T- Motor T Hobby makes good stuff. So, it's probably a decent totally decent stack. Uh 04 Pro, so you don't need to run an external camera.
This is this is this build is actually probably um a good home for that. Usually a 5-in build with 04 Pro and no action camera doesn't make any sense because it ends up being too light. The the 5-in frames were developed with 100 g action cameras in mind. You take that 100 grams away and now you don't need a 5-in prop. You can do a 4-in prop or a lot of times even a three and a half inch prop. Um the most expensive frame in the world here is also a very very heavy frame. Um these 2306.5 motors are very very heavy motors and so we've probably got enough extra weight in motor and frame to offset the fact that there's no off action cam. And yeah, this will probably be like a 600 to 650 g all up weight.
Obviously, it depends on the battery. Um 5-in build. It looks like he did list the battery out. It is a tattoo 1480.
Yeah, that's a huge battery. Um RLine V6 6S. Um so yeah, that's a really really really heavy battery. That's like a 200 200 plus gram battery.
>> Aren't those V6s like particularly light for how big they are? The Rines are always light. Um Oh, >> no. The V6s, I think they made another jump at them closely. Yeah.
>> But yeah, 1480 milliamps on a 6S. Like that is no matter what going to be a giant battery. I would be pretty surprised if it's less than 200 grams.
I'm I'm curious what it actually is.
>> And then a Radio Master Diversity receiver. Yeah, great build. Um, uh, we got some cool customization on the on the arm ends here. I dig that. That's pretty slick looking. Got the red and black thing going. Uh, this frame will never ever ever break on a on a setup like this with without dragging around the action cam weight. Um, these motors are apparently really really really good, too. This is this is going to be a lot, though. This is going to be hard to fly. Um, these motors make just unbelievable power and this thing is not. Like these motors are designed for something that's like 800 g. This build is not. And so the power to weight ratio of this setup is going to be bananas. And that's going to make it really difficult to fly. So like you've got your work cut out for you on Yeah.
being able to fly this in any proximity in any way, shape, or form. So, this is going to be a rig that like you tend to just like go in between two trees that are 20 feet apart and be like, "Oo, good. Thank god I made it." This is going to be a build that's going to be really hard to get like 20 in from leaves and stuff because like when you move the throttle the tiniest little bit, it's going to skyrocket up into the air because it's got just such an unbelievable amount of power. Um, and so this is going to be fun to just throw yourself up into the clouds, but like you do that 50, 100 times and it's not as fun as it once was. Um, and so I wouldn't be surprised if you maybe end up stepping down the motors, um, going with like a low pitch prop. It looks like these are the um, those gem fan props with the texturing on top, which are a pretty powerful propeller.
Um, so yeah, this will be fun for sure, but it's going to be tough to fly because we only have like an inch of throw on our throttle throttle lever throttle uh gimbal. And when you have this much power and not a ton of weight, it makes every tiny little movement change the the the um >> just just hurdle the quad into the clouds. That 1486s is 220 grams.
>> Okay. Yeah, that's a heavy battery.
>> For some perspective, the batteries that I fly on my 5-in rigs are 160. They're they're V1 Tattoo Rline 6S 1050s.
>> Um, and they're 160 grams. And so, yeah, 220 is actually not bad for for a battery that's that big.
>> Um, another thing that Go ahead, Kevin. on this rig. Uh you look at the the pick with the antennas. Something that a lot of people don't really know is that TPU is not RF transparent. So these big sleeves, >> it's not a huge it's not a huge knock uh off of the off of the the the signal, but it it it is some.
>> So >> yeah, I I I never run setups like this.
I always just support the antenna from the stick which eventually the antenna breaks which is kind of annoying like the the whole point of the its uh uh its ken setup is that it just never breaks.
And so like I get it and and I it's having the antennas pulled up into this position is actually kind of brilliant because they're going to be totally protected by the battery. And so like this is absolutely like bash the living [ __ ] out of them um setup. Uh yeah, having anything around the outside of the antenna is going to make it not work as good. It's on 04 Pro, which has like damn near infinite range. So like what a perfect kind of thing to do that on. But if for some reason you wanted to push a bunch of range with this rig, the first thing you would want to do is get these let the antenna the head of the antenna breathe. Um also you would want to put it in the back up as high as possible.
Um, this is actually not that bad of an antenna orientation because like no matter what you're gonna have one antenna, but ideally you want to have both. Ideally, you want to be able to see both antennas all the time. And like these are right next to the battery and the the RF is never going to punch through that lithium polymer. So, at any given time, like when this thing is sideways, it is a single antenna setup.
It's fine. 04 on one antenna is better than like anything else. But yeah, this is an antenna layout that is absolutely optimized for durability over everything else. Um, but 04 Pro is the perfect thing to to do that with. Um, >> also not sure what he's colored these antennas with. They're by color and it doesn't look like it was done with the printing process. If this is either black paint, the red paint, red wouldn't be as bad, but the black paint, some of these like some of these paint markers uh in paints that you're that you're using around I'm looking at the antennas. Um they are they have some metallic bits in them that will also affect your signal.
>> No [ __ ] >> Yeah, >> I didn't realize that. Um you've got ELS out on the arms. That is a very durable, totally fine choice. I'm not sure what this brick is here in the back, but like on a build like this, I'm not worried about removing weight. I'm almost wanting to add weight to a build like this to try to get the damn thing under control with how much power it's going to make. And so, like, I don't care what this is. It's probably a good thing for it to be there. Um, yeah. Same deal with like the arm protectors. Like on a build like this, the weight is potentially going to help stuff. You've also got the skids on the bottom. So this, you know, the there's a lot of stuff on this build adding a lot of extra weight. So it might actually end up 650 gram um even without the action cam and that'll tame it down a little bit. Um, I'm of the mind where you build as light as you can so that it doesn't slide around so much and it's more accurate and you get more run time.
Uh, but that's just me. There's plenty of other people that fly 800 850 gram all up weight 5 in rigs and produce great freestyle footage and say it's the greatest thing ever. That I I that ain't me, but if that's you, that's okay.
Tough guy says that's gorgeous and brutal. Uh WK with a nice little 360. I love it. We're going full screen. Oh, or we're breaking the computer. Uh very very cool. I've been trying to get a little platform set up like this. I I have a little rotating thing. I just got to get a thing up on top of it. Nice little build.
Uh Caillou Mini. It's got the TPU in the back, the flywheel light in the front.

Uh I can't tell. What's the uh what's the battery?
The battery is definitely a two cell and it's got the Flywoo plug on it. So, it's a Flywoo battery. I think this is the Flywoo 420, which is actually a G&B 380.
Um which is probably a little too small on the battery. Uh it depends on the motors, though. But on my Caillou Mini, the 2S450 mAh battery was actually too small. These are the the 1103 motors, I think, that they recommend on the Caillou site. Um, I think if they are 11:03, you're going to want a bigger motor than that. At least 1202 and a half. Um, still waiting for a Caillou.
Oh, look at that. I modified a cheap Chinese frame and made it look like it.
You [ __ ] fooled me, man. Nice Angel 25 frame from AliExpress. 04 wide. Uh, Spark Hobby. Yeah, Spark Hobby 1103. Uh, JHMCU 20 amp AIO. Nice. Gem Fan 2520.
Fine. Um, yeah, those motors are a little too small and they they don't have a 2mm motor shaft below the bell.
So, don't crash that thing hard on those motors. You will bend those motor shafts like right away. Uh, you get up to a 122 and a half motor, you get a 2 mil motor shaft below the bell. And it's way, way, way more durable. Recently upgraded all the screws to titanium. That's pretty slick. Redesigned TPU to save some weight. All of weight is 99 grams.
That's light.

Gemfan Hurricane 316s. probably too low pitch of a propeller, but boy, do we not have a lot of great 3-in prop options. Um, although there is an HQ. There's an HQ 3 by I think it's 2.5. Uh, that would wake this thing right up. I I these GemFin Hurricane 316s are like they're okay, but boy, these 1404s will wake up on a more pitchy prop. Um, Flyw arm LEDs, True RC Singularity, dual $50 worth of True RC antennas. Nice. Uh, 240 grams with a uh 4S850. That's pretty light. The Ripsqueak frames are light, though. They They really are. Um, I like this little TPU piece in the back, Kevin. That's pretty slick. Uh, >> that's my own design, actually.

And I mean, even with these 316s, I'm sure it's fine because 4600 KV is a lot, but um there's a bunch of of performance on the table from just these being 1404 is just it's a big motor.

>> And then fixed up tilt. I love this camera mount with the with the dual screws to fix the uptilt. It's It's actually um It tilts in there and then when you screw it down, it holds it in place. So, you can actually change the up tilt on it.
>> I like that a lot. I I really have grown to appreciate if the camera has two screw holes, having a a mount that has two screw holes. Boy, is that nice. And yeah, you can either have it locked. I I I prefer the idea of having one of these that's 20, one that's 25, one that's 30, one that's 15 because otherwise we don't know what the hell, you know, when we have the slidable mounts, it's like we tilt it up like it looks like 15 or 20 or we don't really know. It's um yeah for if I can get my frame to come out someday there I'm going to bug the [ __ ] out of somebody to design something very similar to this with fixed >> that's my design and it would be hella easy for me to switch that from >> you're bugging Yep.

It's not not a whole lot of not a whole lot of banging around. And I actually really like the the high KV low pitch.
It just it it just it's a nice day at the park. That's that's what I'm looking for. A walk in the park.

>> And that's they're a great propeller. Um that's for sure. I've I I >> in one of my uh first Gem Fan sponsor boxes. I think there were like 200 sets of those. And so I've been flying them like and we're going like five, six years back. I've been flying them forever. Um, and the the only thing I don't like about them is they're just I just wish they were a little more pitchy and a little bit thicker. When they become when props become pitchier, they become more durable. Um, and yeah, I just confirmed it. HQ has a 3x 2.5x3 and that is like the perfect propeller for a 1404. Um, it would be way more durable than those and it would probably give like two, three, 400 extra grams of thrust if you wanted to go real fast.
Uh, but yeah, Gemfan 316 is a classic.
That's like that is one of about three 3-in props that are even remotely like acceptable.

>> Um so like at that cuz I I think my original rip squeaks were running like 260 270 and they needed a lot pitcher prop.

Oh my god. We are we are at the end that I was really hoping to to get to the end here. Stigs Asian co cousin with his first venture into toothpicks. Krux three frame from happy model. Salvage newbie drone hummingbird V4 AIO broken onboard receiver. Uh, newbie drone. Uh, BI camera, Goober V2 canopy. Uh, good. I don't usually like the Goober canopy until you put it on something bigger with power that needs weight. I actually think this canopy is perfect for for this build. Um, happy model EP2 ERS. Uh, 122 11,500s.
Again, I think that is like the previous toothpick we looked at. I think that is a little too small of a motor. Um, but if you're trying to keep the weight down, I get it. In my opinion, you want more more weight on a build like this because you got such a big propeller.
Uh, Gemfan 38 by Blade Props. Uh, NX69 550 MAH 1S battery 54 gram all- up weight. Yeah, like I would hate this because it's so light and it's got such a big propeller, but some people love that. Some people love that toothpick.
Like always goes in a dead straight line. No throw. It's like an RC car but in the sky. Um, personally, I would go much bigger on the motor. I'd go up to like like a 1204 or 1303. Um, I would also go to 2S. this this on 1S is almost certainly struggling and and you you're not going to have great response time and so you're going to have to turn the PIDs way up to try to get uh some some good flight performance out of it. Um but again, if you want super lightweight giant props, this is how to do it. Uh for me though, I would never do a a 1S 3 in. That that is a a complete mismatch.
want for 3 in I want to be 2S if not 3S if not 4S. Um but again I like stuff that has more power, more mass, more weight. Um I dig this canopy on here. Uh these props are fine and this crux frame is fine. Yeah, this this is going to have that this is a super extreme build.
giant props, very little weight, and that flies in a very specific way that I personally don't like, but some people do. Um, what were the motors again? I know they're 122 and a half, but uh, happy model 122 and a half. If you start breaking those motors a lot, bending the bells on those motors a lot, um, get just get rid of them. The h these bigger happy model motors don't seem to be very durable. Um there are and that there's your chance to go to a bigger motor 123, 1204, 1303, something like that. I would do a 124. Um but then you need to go to 2S and this AIO is not going to do that.
And so yeah, now you're changing the motors and the AIO and the whole that's more than half of the rig right there. And so like yeah, something like this. Leave it together. You know what I would do actually? I would drop this down. I would put this onto like a two-inch toothpick frame um to get some throw out of it, to get some momentum out of it.
And then I would take this 3-in frame, put a bigger motor on it, um with a with an AIO that can take 2s or 3S. Um that would be what I would sort of do down the road, but that's just me.

1s batteries you can hold on with like spit and popsicle sticks. I I don't it doesn't even faze me on 1s. I'm like, "Yeah, whatever. Anything will work."

Uh, as a live streamer that re has been relying on this, uh, it is way too easy for people to copyright ding you. and YouTube's um setup is really bad and basically you stop live streaming for about a month whether you like it or not. And so that's just I I I can't do that. Uh and so I will never have a live stream where I just play two hours of of other people's flight footage um for those reasons and other reasons. But I I I do kind of also maybe want to do like a roast my rip sort of thing. But the point there is not to just play it and like say one or two things. It's like literally roasting you're flying. And so like fair warning when we do that, don't post some [ __ ] and then get pissed off when I roast it because like that's the only way that I'm willing to do that. The only way that I'm willing to like look at your flight footage is to give actual feedback for the good of everyone, right? You're making too many corrections. You turn you flipped left instead of right. You had an like and and you're not it's going to be hard to hear, right? Like we all think that we're somewhat decent at flying, myself included. And when somebody else tears it apart, it can hurt. And so that's kind of tough. I will do it. But like if you're going to post some [ __ ] in there, don't like expect it to. And I won't be like brutal. Like I'm not going to tell you to stop flying, but I'm going to give you a bunch of [ __ ] feedback because like that's the point. The point is for everybody to kind of learn. And so yeah, we will do that at some point.
But I like this roast my rig because it's Yeah, it's cool to see your guys builds that. We are a buildheavy um community here.
Uh, and so yeah, throw your builds in there. Do exactly what you guys have been doing. Pictures uh um breakdowns of of all the parts and um if you have any like durability feedback from any of the parts, if you've broken like a bunch of stuff, let us know. That's that's super valuable. Uh Offaxis says, uh Mark McKitrich is ridge ripper. Very cool. Uh Tom says, "How do I submit a quad to roast my rig?" just the same way that everybody else is. Post a post a picture in there. It's uh um it is in the Patreon only section of my Discord. Uh these top groups of channels are open to anyone. And then this bottom group of text channels here are for patrons. So you got to give me three bucks a month or 10 cents a day um to get access to this second part of my Discord. Uh but other than that, you just come in here, drop a picture, type a little description, away you go.
Uh, Chef Bruno says, "How soon or recurring is this going to be?" Uh, may get something built after the concert Wednesday. So, cool. Talked about that just now. Red Dripper says, "Thanks for going through my rig. Lots of great advice." Love it. Um, uh, Jim the Cow says, "Now you got me wanting to submit a build to be roasted.
I want to fix it." Very cool. Hey, uh, somebody submit start submitting trash that I can actually roast. Um, unsurprisingly, the the people that watch me, the guy that tells you how to build clean and and you know, dives all the way deep into how to spec motors and props and all up weight out perfectly, go figure. Like, most of these builds are pretty dialed. Uh, of course there have been a couple meme builds and like I'm going to try to not just be mean for no reason, but like feel free to submit like just awful [ __ ] that and and yeah, tell me to like cuz it would be funny to be like, "What the [ __ ] is wrong with you?" Uh, but most of these seem like, you know, they're they're built with some care and I'm not just going to like lay into them for no reason. And if there if it, you know, if if I'm not going to like flying it like that 1S toothpick, I'm going to tell you, don't be pissed about that because I have a very we all have a very specific flight style and it changes. You know, I flew very I flew stuff like that when I was one, two, three years into it and then I got tired of it. I moved on to something else. But like, you know, when I give you guys feedback, a lot of that feedback is like what I want. And if and and you're all different people, and that's a good thing. And so, yeah, don't take offense to any of this stuff. Um, but they're like like this toothpick. This is a super extreme rig. Giant propellers, very low all-up weight. Um, and like what tends to happen is you have you have that and you think it's great and then like it's only great for a little while.
The nicest way that I can say this, right? Like when you build these really extreme rigs, sure some people love those forever, but like most of us only build those extreme rigs and then fly a few batteries on them and then we end up in the middle, right? Like there's there's a reason that most people fly similar stuff. It's because where we've landed in in sort of the middle, that's what flies really good.
It's got a good balance of like float to power to weight to throw to all the things. And so, yeah, keep that in mind.
But you guys are doing great. The the builds that have been submitted, a lot of them are gorgeous. Were you about to say something, Kevin?
>> Yeah. Uh, so a little bit ago wanted to know about a collab with you. A >> I see it. You know, we were just It would definitely be either two or 2.5.
Three I've got going. Um I would more want two. Uh but it's funny, we were actually just talking about this uh on yesterday's live stream. Um and I was and I was actually thinking to myself like I would really only want to do that collab with with you, brother. Um but it would it would more be 2 in. I I've got my 3-in frame design, which I think is like good to go. I just have to find the time to um dive into all that. Uh there is not a perfect 2-in frame at the moment. The new Max Frames M2 might be it with the with the carbon fiber now oriented properly. So, like and like I you know, I if there's a a frame that's close enough to perfect for me, I'm cool. I I don't like I I don't care to have my name on stuff like this is mine.
It's better. Like no. If somebody makes one that's that's simil like almost identical to what I would do as my perfect like done. Just everybody just buy that one. I don't I don't want to be in the middle of that. But um at the moment we don't have a perfect twoinch frame. So that that's more where I would want to be.
