The episode successfully bridges the gap between neurological science and cultural folklore, showing how a biological glitch becomes a supernatural legend. It’s a thoughtful look at how we use stories to make sense of our most terrifying physical experiences.

>> Mike Miliga. Mike Mila.
America. Yes.
Let's go. Welcome.
How did I know someone was going to come out about the way I've been saying it that way all weekend long? It's been a blast.
>> I think we should put the warning out for like seizures.
>> Oh, yes. If you're uh um napractic, that's that's uh >> Watch out.
>> What is it? Hold on. It's um when you seizures, it's uh >> seizure disorder. Well, no [ __ ] Sherlock.
Um, >> what do they call that?
>> I saw the tip of my tongue. Why?
>> Somebody in the chat could tell us. It's when it's Is there It's a long word.
>> Hi, Stephie. Jane Todd.
>> Jane Todd.
>> Jane Todd. What?
>> Stephy Jane Todd.
>> Oh, epileptic.
>> Epileptic.
>> Yes. That's if you have seizures.
>> Epileptic.
>> Seizure warning.
>> Do they see Jane here?
>> Is there like a third person? Maybe it's a ghost.
>> Maybe it's a little girl. Either way.
Okay, I think I'm about to take the America glasses off cuz I won't be able to. And lol.
>> Yeah, it's true.
>> I won't be able to read the opening with >> starting my sparks. So, it's starting starting strong.
>> Press the cupcake. Hello. Happy America week.
Hope you guys had a wonderful, safe, happy, fun, and exciting plus relaxing Fourth of July.
Yes.
>> Yeah. And celebrated the 250th birthday of America.
>> Isn't this something? 250 years of intent.
>> Yeah. I won't make it that long. I don't know about Utah, but >> hardly ever hardly any other country, if any, has made it that long. If you actually think >> I don't actually know if all the birth dates of the other countries, but you know, I never thought of that. Hey, frosted cupcake. Happy fourth week.
Yeah, I being a historian have thought about this cuz I don't think there actually has been many countries that have lasted more than this.
>> What about Well, England had us be old there. Obviously, >> currently Egypt did, but that was like a zillion years ago.
>> Well, England would definitely be older because they kind of found us, right?
Is >> But they had a revolution. I mean, we're the 250th birthday of like when we like when Europe Eastern Europeans discovered and took over America, but they came from Europe. So, Europe's got to be older.
>> Well, yeah. Europe constantly >> cuz Europe's gotten it.
>> Yeah. They have different kings and stuff.
>> Yeah.
>> Different political.
>> But then, but then America America was older than this because there was other indigenous individuals that lived here before. So, >> that's right. their birth certificate may not be correct.
I'll send you guys uh never actually unfortunately.
Happy Tuesday. Yeah, unfortunately. I wish I could but I do not. God bless from Arizona. Hello. God bless.
>> Arizona. My parents live in Tucson for quite a while. Three years.
>> May as well. I know. It's because of the glasses. Guys, we're just This is our opening. We're just celebrating and we're about to be done cuz I'm >> All right, glasses off. We don't want to endanger anybody.

>> It's so fun.
>> You guys are missing out. I know.
Listen, I wish I could. I have panic disorder and it would just be a big hot mess. So, >> I'm a therapist. It's a big hot mess.
>> Judgment to those who do. I I God bless you. I wish I could box clip 200. Hello.
But thank you for asking though. Um I can't say that name. Can you say it?
>> Just point with your finger.
Jacquard.
>> You said that so French. Well, >> it's probably French.
>> Is that Is this French?
>> It's making my mouth say French. It probably is.
>> It's make You're making his mouth speak French.
Well, welcome guys to Bootleg Boos podcast where the spirits are spirits aren't just behind the bar, they're all around us. Broadcasting straight from my speak easy. We dive into the world of the paranormal, sharing real investigations, eerie experiences, and everything >> that goes bump >> in the night. So, pour yourself a drink, settle in, and let's see who or what might be joining us tonight. So, a few reminders before we get started.
Did I I have same mic as him, but it's pink. Awesome. Chicken gaming.
Thank you, Mike Miller. Yeah, I'm literally just literally all the time high energy and ramped up. I just That's just my natural state of existence.
Um Oh, I sound like Lady Gaga. Thank you. We have the same name. Mics are perfect. We got this [ __ ] >> Oh, perfect. Excellent. We worked hard in that before we logged on this time.
>> Yes. Yes.
>> We always do, but extra hard.
>> Yeah, I figured Yeah, I figured some different [ __ ] out today, honestly.
>> Um, did I study her speaking voice? No.
I love her, but I've actually never heard her really talk other than sing.
>> Yeah, that's weird. I never really have either. Even when she's talking, she starts singing.
>> I've never really heard her talk much.
>> I'll take it. Thank you.
>> And she's very short. A lot of people don't know that. She's like 4 foot 11 or something.
>> Stephanie is a nice name. Thank you.
Um, I'm going to butcher your name if I Prepio Pucio Sanchez.
>> Pipio Sanchez. Prepio Sanchez.
>> I like how you He's so colorful when he talks, but thank you. Um, okay. So, >> I have a few reminders before we get started. Please subscribe if you're not already subscribed. Um, hit the like button and notification bell. The notification bell is going to remind you of when we go live. We go live all the time, every Tuesday for our bootleg booths podcast, but we also go live in a lot of new and exciting and interesting locations, haunted locations, abandoned locations.
You never know where or when. Like, >> for example, >> we're going to end up like >> seriously could be any time of the day.
It could be >> any place anywhere in the mail.
>> Wildwood Sanitarium.
>> Could be anywhere.
>> It could be a forest. It could be a a bombed out bar. Could be all sorts of cool things. There's a place up in North Tanowan I've been wanting to go to that burned down three times.
>> We could go there.
>> We could be there. We could be there tonight. You never know.
>> Could be and this morning.
>> But thank you. I will look it up. I will definitely look it up. Her real name is Stephanie. Did you know that? This is the irony.
>> My my >> No, Lady Gaga's real name is Stephanie.
>> Oh, yeah. It is. It is.
>> Yeah. Not his real name. No. Yeah. No, >> it's misnomer. Her name Her real name is Stephanie. Yeah.
So, please leave us a comment, but please be or you know, talk to us in the comments. Please be kind to each other in the comments. Be kind to us in the comments, please. And thank you. We're just doing what we love and we're taking you guys along with us. Most importantly, be kind to each other in real life because we need that now more than ever. Um, if you'd like to uh support the channel, you can do so few different ways. you can send a TTS, which is only $2 and up, will trigger the the text to speech. So, if you'd like to uh join in on the conversation almost immediately and either ask a question, share a comment, um your perspective on what we're talking about. just uh you could do so through a super chat through YouTube or through uh Streamlabs which the link is in the description at streamlabs uh.com/haunts investigations I believe. So, um, a certain platform, YouTube, takes 30%, but if you do the TTS through Streamlabs, again, only $2 and up to get your, uh, message, question, response read out loud with a AI voice, uh, they only take 3%.
>> So, like if I had like 10 flashlights for instance, YouTube being awesome that they were on their platform, they would take three of your flashlights that you donate out of those 10. And you know, if you want to reduce the flashlight taking, which we're all about, go to Streamlabs or directly.
>> So, how many would Streamlabs take then, Todd?
>> Like one of them.
>> See, you're we got to work on this.
Okay. So, if for example, YouTube would take $30 out of 100%. Stream Labs would take three.
>> You have to round it up.
>> There. That's That's the easier way.
>> Aund of them, they take three.
Yes. Um, and so again, you can do the do this do do this through the super chat function with YouTube or Streamlabs and the link is in the description. Um, also we have some fun things to do through text to speech also, I'm sorry, through uh Streamlabs or through super chats. So we also have $5 for a fit check. Um, for the ballers that are feeling like celebrating America today, >> America.
>> We got a $50 champagne pop. We got a bottle of champagne with your name on it. We will pop that champagne in your honor and it'll be really funny to watch Todd have a bottle of champagne. Yep.
>> Saying >> it will be nothing.
>> If you're a real G, we got that $50 champagne pop.
>> Can't say would be mad about it.
>> I'm going to offer something special.
>> Okay.
>> If they do a champagne pop, not only will I get a little tipsy and it doesn't take much cuz I'm not much of a drinker.
I will screech like a freedom eagle for you tonight.
I got her with that one. Right. I will give you a speech from hell. It's gonna be so great. Like it'll terrify anybody that wants to mess with the United States of America.
>> That sounds really inviting.
>> Mhm. Thank you. I do what I can, you know.
>> So anyways, I I'll I'll do a screech for you.
>> I cannot offer that.
>> You What could you do, though?
>> I will just I will show them I will show you a pop a bottle of champagne with a nutcracker. I'm not even kidding.
>> Really?
>> It's a good time.
>> Okay, that's something that I would like to find out.
>> And then afterward, Todd will repair whatever I break down here. But it's going to be a really good time.
>> Yeah. It's like liquid nails tonight and like little rings. There's all sorts of stuff going on that I you guys missed out on. We should have put it in the pay for the membership.
>> Oh, members only.
>> We did put something in there tonight, didn't we?
>> Yes, we did.
>> There was a There's a new surprise. If you guys are in the members only, it's something in there now. Mhm.
>> Extra new.
She does not look safe and he does not look safe. John Wolf, >> why would we be safe? It's boring.
>> 2715. I don't know if safe. What? You're >> We're living on the edge. Stephie, >> what are you talking about? Safe, but >> we're always living on the edge. We're not safe. Safe is boring.
>> We don't We don't like people. I mean, by safe. I mean I mean I I may like >> Oh >> I walk in a wall sometimes and >> dude you got wounded by walking into a wall earlier.
>> Yeah. Well I I tackled somebody cuz they were playing my letter fluid at the beach. I mean >> I don't know. No we are not lovers. And yeah it's sad. It's not a love story. Um we are besties though.
>> We're besties. Todd's got a beautiful girlfriend and I am just living my life with my beautiful daughter and my three dogs and my cat. I sound >> And I've got a kid.
>> I sound sad.
>> Two kids, actually.
This one's out of the house. So, it's like, do I count that? I don't even know.
>> Oh, I love everybody. Is it Azie Osborne's lost brother?
JSS6720006.
Hi, Seth. Hi.
>> Um, who are you?
Hi, Jerome King. G4D, Soho 2112. That's philosophical. I kind of like it.
Uh, you do have a rockstar Aussie vibe.
Yes.
>> Yes. Well, shout out to 36 Nothing, my son's band, who debuted on July 4th. And my son's a drummer. He also writes songs, does acoustic guitar. He's only 15 and they ripped it up, man. They did a great job. So, I'm trying to promote them and get them some gigs like the Sabers at the Sabres Arena and Canal.
>> Oh my god, they're so great. And they're all like 16, right?
>> They're all 15.
>> 15. Yeah, they're really good.
>> And they like they rock out, guys. It's amazeballs. Like it's really cool. Old stuff, newer kind of newer stuff.
>> And I will say this with honesty, >> Mike.
>> They're better than our band when I was in college. I think they're better than we were. And it's always cool when you're a dad and you're in a band and then your kid gets into music and he forms a band and they're better than your band. It makes the world a better place.
>> It makes you happy because like you want your children to be better than you are.
So, it's really cool.
>> Yeah.
>> Shout out to you, Drew, and your band.
>> Good job, Drewie.
>> Um Oh, no. We got live we got live investigations coming. Maria, don't you worry. I know I've been we've been a little busy. Life got in the way. We're not swingers, but thank you, Mega Jordan 691. Um and JSS720006.
We will be live. We had so many places to go back to. We're just getting going this summer with a lot of our um live investigations. We got more paid locations coming up. We'll be at Wildwood Sanitarium soon. A lot of abandoned locations.
>> There was just a video clip from Wildwood. I don't know if you saw that on Facebook today. I'm using XLS camera and you can see this outline of a person >> with the XLS camera like messing with their um ghost box like you know in Wildwood how they have that slab where when you're dead they drain your fluids.
>> What do they call that thing when >> Oh, in the basement.
>> In the basement. Yeah.
>> The um Yeah, the embalming table.
>> Yes. on the inbalming table. They had a ghost box and they had investigator camera and you could see the outline like the actual >> with arms and legs and everything if it messing with the ghost box and their dogs started barking at it >> like barking at that area. So like that's pretty good. So Wildwood's pretty active guys and we will be there soon.
>> That's Maze Falls. Yes.
>> Yeah.
>> Um hello from Mississippi. Hi in in Mississippi Mark.
Um, Ch.
Yep. Appreciate wives. We have a moment of silence for wives.
Oh, standard deviation disper dispersion.
Interesting. I like your name. Thumbs up.
>> That sounds that sounds like a mathemat mathematician.
>> Mathematician.
>> Standard deviation dispersion. Yeah, that's >> it's a great it's a great name.
>> My wife was out with my halattosis for nine years. No attempt to fix it. Can we take a moment to appreciate life?
Yes. Shout out to your wife.
All right, I'm going to keep going with the um reminder so we can get started with tonight's topic.
So um you dare to spend a night in the Appalachian Mountains? So >> good question. I I love like investigating paranormal, but like the nature aspect of like people that hunt like Bigfoot or cryptids. I just don't want to get mauled by like a bear or mountain lion. So, if I was in like a haunted cabin in the Appalachia Mountains all day, every day I'd even go venture into the woods, but I'm just not want to [ __ ] with nature. Let's just be real.
>> You know, it's all fun games till you run into a fun game until you get mauled by a [ __ ] bear. If it's brown, lay down. if it's black fight back.
Shout out to Angelina.
But like that's the thing with the brown bear and the black bear.
>> Dude, my my friend Todd was at a Zen monastery called Zen Mountain Monastery out in the Catskills and they had bears that were messing with the trash cans and stuff and I woke up one day at the retreat came out and I saw a shoe. It was a Zen teacher there banging this like smashing this bear in the ass with a broom trying to get it out of the garbage. way different way with what I thought you were saying.
>> I had to like he's like bam bam bam like hitting it and the bear's like and w jumping out and running away and I'm like man that's badass.
>> Uh preio percho Sanchez wants to know what is the band's name again? My son's band or the son's band. I will look it up on YouTube and follow.
>> Oh 36 to nothing is the name of the band.
>> 36 to nothing like to or the number two >> 36- nothing.
>> Oh 36 I don't think there's any YouTube stuff yet. Um, like a like a line >> kind of.
>> Yeah. Hyphen type of thing.
>> Okay.
>> Like a score for football team.
>> Oh, okay. 32- nothing. Okay. Gotcha.
>> And the background of the name 36 nothing comes from the Frontier High School football team that lost a game 36 to nothing and they all were at Frontier cuz they always got their asses kicked by everybody. We go to the games, watch the team get their ass kicked. So they thought it'd be funny to name the band 36 nothing which is one of the below games we attended. I like it.
>> So, that's kind of cool.
>> How about their >> I don't think there's anything on YouTube yet. Their their first major debut was on 4th of July. And I got videos, but I haven't posted.
>> Do they have a YouTube channel? Sorry, though.
>> Can you help us with that? Just drew one of your school for this. I got you.
>> So, if you don't find it out, keep just keep an eye out. It'll be coming within the next week or two. How about there was an encounter with the other realm in backyard and now the woman take the women in the red dress on a date to save humanity?
>> What?
I would love to help save humanity. Um, a lady fought a bear for a little dog. I love my dogs. I have three of them.
They're all little. But no, I ain't [ __ ] with no bear. I'm sorry. But >> for your little dog, you might you might get that motherhood thing kicking in.
>> Well, I mean, but there's also self-preservation. I have an actual child, you know. So, >> Well, no. If it's my actual child, then yeah. Are you kidding? I would [ __ ] die if I had to. Um, why not investigate the Appalachian Mountains? Well, again, self-preservation.
Okay. Uh, what a spread 36 to zip, right?
Some game help wanted. You guys are voting. Okay. Let me get through this um reminders.
So, if you'd like to um donate and support the podcast um and the channel directly without no platform fees and no cuts and have 100% of your donation go directly to HTI because we are a viewerup supported podcast and investigative channel, uh you can do so directly through our Venmo, haunts investigations. The link is also in the description. Again, that's haunting and everything is greatly appreciated.
Silver star.
>> Thank you for the silver star. Spooky scary 2424. Love the screen name.
>> Oh, the man 6 D6Y. Love you guys. Love you too.
>> Real hair.
>> Yeah.
>> This is my real hair for sure.
>> He's definitely not wearing a wig.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. You could pull you choke him, spank him, pull his hair.
>> I've actually had spirits pull my hair in the past, but she never gets her hair pulled. I don't anything >> or scratched or punched or >> no down the stairs.
>> One of the weirdest things that ever happened to me.
>> Tucker CH1 M.
>> I had a ghost go through my body once and it was the weirdest freaking feeling in the whole entire world. It was so weird. It was like an electrical blast with cold that went through me and then it went into another guy that was behind me. It went through him and he started crying and he couldn't stop crying for like an hour.
>> Sounds like a freaky ghost.
>> It was nuts.
>> Freaky ghost is running through y'all.
That was one of the weirdest things ever.
>> Mike Miller taught us a rock star.
>> I've been Mike Miller.
>> It's a It's a weird feeling. You can walk around in the past. No, he's calling you a rockstar now. Thank you.
>> Thank you. But it's a weird feeling cuz like it's I can see why people that are famous don't want to talk to anybody because when you know them and they don't know you and you're like coming up to them like if they know you, it's a really bizarre reactive feeling cuz you're like you almost go like do I know them? and it's constantly happening and it's like a lot on your brain. So, for a short period of time, I was I was going through a little bit of that.
>> So, thank you very much.
>> So, I never got to tell you, Todd.
Someone at the beach actually recognized me from the um the my YouTube channel.
>> No way. The podcast.
>> The not the podcast, the videos, like the Tik Tok ones. Yeah. But I was like, "Oh my gosh, finally."
>> That's super cool.
>> Yeah, it was really cool. I mean, okay, once you've watched her in one of the videos or on this podcast, either way, how could you not notice her in public, right? So, keep that in mind. If you see a blonde woman running around, that's uh >> So, you're not blocked.
>> Sorry.
>> That's okay.
>> I didn't realize I'm blocked, >> but feel free to say hi if you see Stephanie or I running around.
>> Of course.
So, he is Todd, but who are you? I'm Stephie, [ __ ] Oh, I didn't call you [ __ ] Sorry.
That's the whole Britney [ __ ] thing.
>> Yeah, it's Yeah, it's my I'm just joking. I'm safy.
Um, Skeletor, you're blocked.
>> Do we have a moderator on?
>> Um, yeah, Mike Miller.
>> Oh, Mike. Okay.
>> And oh, and uh Frosta Cupcake. Um, Skeletor, hold on. This is not working with me right now.
Blocked how >> Skeletor.
>> Skeletor.
>> Oh my god. remember, >> dude. I saw the He-Man movie this weekend. It's legit. It's really, really good. It's emotional. It's well written.
It's campy. It's all the things you want it to be. I heard it's not doing great in the theaters. So, shout out to He-Man. Go see it. Bring a date. It's better with somebody to watch it with.
And um I think you'll really enjoy it before it leaves the theaters. And listen, if you go, >> stay till way after the credits because there's extra stuff all the way to the very very end. And you don't want to miss what you see cuz it's it's mindblowing. All right, just to throw that out there and I won't tell you what it is, but you got to stay for the very very last part of the movie after that, but >> that's okay.
>> That's a public service announcement.
>> The man six or D6 why you're hilarious and I am King Julian, bro. I would sell my truck and kayak for Stephanie right now. A that's amaz. But I like to go kayaking want to save the kayak.
I do. I kayak in Zor Valley if y'all know where that is. So that's means balls. But thank you Um >> do did you hear there's a tunnel there?
>> No.
>> I never heard of it before, but the two girls in my um therapy practice were talking about a hidden tunnel in Zor Valley they found. I've talked to people in Zor Valley that actually like the last time I was there I was with uh my daughter and her friends and I was just like I have a quarter of course because they take it everywhere and I was like maybe I can talk to somebody that died here and I like it was a 15-year-old boy and I found the the news article like they found the name they were with me like they were in awe and it was like one of the craziest experiences I' I've had there and it was so easy to hear him too and it was really sad because he was with his friends and they were like playing around And I kind of got the whole story. It wasn't far off from like what the news said, but it was they like they were roughousing. So he's like someone pushed me, but it was an accident kind of, you know, type [ __ ] >> Mhm.
>> But it was really it was kind of sad.
And I'm going to sound crazy, but I swear.
>> Well, this is also crazy, but one of the GameStop managers was buddy of mine that worked in Fredonia went there with his family and one of his kids fell down the ridge cuz they were hiking up by where the trees were and he went to go get him and he fell and died. He like rolled down the ridge and died.
Isn't that crazy?
>> When was that?
>> It was like When was that?
>> Cuz you'd be surprised. There's not too many documented deaths at Zor Valley.
You think there would be more.
>> It was 2008.
>> But it's like to the bottom kayak.
>> Yeah. Safer. You don't want to go up on the top ridge places where everything goes wrong.
>> That's why I won't go to Lechworth where people just walk off the edge and just die.
>> Mhm.
>> Like this is them. Ready?
>> Like I'm not doing all that type [ __ ] Mhm.
>> I like I'll hike ridge the internal plane.
>> There's two things that are dangerous.
Heights and in the ocean.
>> Well, I don't mess with nature.
>> There's sharks and stuff in there with nature.
>> Yeah.
>> Meant to breathe air.
That's something to think about.
>> You got to be careful. You respect nature. You got to follow signs. You have follow rules. And people could just get drunk and belligerent or they just like they think they're like, you know, Dora the Explorer mixed with Indiana Jones mixed with Steve Irwin, which you know, ended bad for almost all two out of the three of them. And well, >> and Jacusto maybe.
>> Yeah. And then, you know, and then look what happens. Like I you don't you don't look at life's going to throw enough missiles at you, nuclear bombs, you don't need to actually help it along, right?
>> Yeah. It's true. I mean, we live on the edge as it is and we're careful about it.
>> Be smart. Yeah. Be smart, guys. Be safe.
Live live to tell the tale.
>> I'm not sure we're very careful about it, but we think we're careful about it.
And if we think it enough, it's true.
>> Well, we think if we think it's true enough, it's true.
>> Let's not talk about manifesting. I'm not in that little freaking club of >> It was George.
>> You know, manifesting, you mean like working hard for something and it just happens?
>> No. No. George Castanza said something and when I share it with you, it was like if you believe a lie enough, if you believe a lie that you tell enough, it's true.
>> Well, okay. So, people that say that they're good liars, it's actually said that they're supposed to like like say it enough or practice enough to believe it's true. And that's how you become a good liar.
>> That's true.
>> But so, my thing is I hate lying. I'm not a good liar. Um I don't like to lie.
But when I if I ever tell a lie, it's a white lie or it's a lie for the greater good.
>> Now, the key to that kind of lie is you got to add a little bit of the truth in there. Mix it around in like a pot. And then you have to also keep it very short. Don't put too much detail in there. And bing bang boom, you got yourself a beautiful white lie baked and wrapped in a bow.
>> Yeah.
>> And it's for the greater good.
>> Now, what constitutes that kind of lie?
Well, here's an example.
>> That'll be next episode.
>> Let's say let's say me and you and Noah are hanging out and some guy comes in.
He's like, "Hey, where's Noah? I want to stab him with a knife." We're going to tell a white lie and we're going to say like, "Who's Noah?" You know what I mean? Or like, "Oh, he went that way.
>> He went that way."
>> Yeah. You just missed him by 5 minutes.
>> Although, no one ever say that about Noah.
>> That's an ethical type of way. No one >> to me. If anybody here is interested and in the local Western New York area that knows where Showplace Theater is, would like to go see a local artist that is very talented, um, Noah aka Cats the Rapper on all platforms. That's K A P dollar sign the rapper, R A P E R on all platforms. Check him out. If you guys don't even like rap music, listen to his lyrics. Listen to his music. He is a genius when it comes to lyrics. He's a genius when it comes to like putting everything together. He is so full of energy. He's he's amazing. It was about me. I'm sorry.
I don't know what to say to that. Okay.
But you got to understand it could be taken a little bit. You know, you got to keep it Yeah. Keep it classy.
So guys know sleep paralysis is. Do you know?
>> Yeah. What is sleep paralysis? What could that even be?
>> Sleep paralysis is one of the most frightening experiences a person can have. I've had it. And do you have it?
>> A lot sadly. Yeah.
>> Oh, we are entertained. Trust me.
Imagine waking up in the middle of the night fully aware of your surroundings but completely unable to move. You try to speak but no words come out. You struggle to lift your arm or sit up yet your body refuses to respond. As panic sets in, you may feel as though someone else is in the room watching you. Some people report hearing footsteps, whispers, or even feeling a pressure on their chest as if someone is sitting on them.
>> Flashback. Trauma flashback.
>> For centuries, experiences like these were often attributed to ghosts, demons, witches, or other supernatural forces.
Today, science has offered an explanation for why sleep paralysis occurs. However, because the experience can feel so vivid and real, many people continue to believe it has a paranormal component. Whether viewed through the lens of neuroscience or spirituality, sleep paralysis remains one of the most fascinating mysteries surrounding human consciousness.
Amen. Martha Stewart and Snoop Dog.
Uh, Yep. Exactly. Arrogant Swine. It's hella creepy. 100,000% sleep paralysis generally has a safe word. Well, what?
Wake the [ __ ] up.
>> I don't know. But I tell you what, what used to happen to me, I knew before I even woke up something was up cuz I I got this sense of dread, this super horrible.
>> The last time I had sleep paralysis was like 6 months ago. I I've had it since I was like 21 up until like 6 months ago.
And so like I know it's happening now and it still scares me. I I try to move.
I try to scream. I can I can hear things around me sometimes. I can see them around me, but I cannot move. So it's like you're So what I was told it's probably going to be in here is that people that sleepwalk their body releases the chemical that keeps you from moving when you're sleeping, right?
And the people that sleepwalk, their body does not release enough of that chemical. So they're sleeping, but they're moving. But people with sleep paralysis, their body releases too much of that chemical. So you your body wakes up before your mind does. So your your body's awake, but your mind is still like you're paralyzed.
I didn't know any of that [ __ ] when it started happening. I thought I was dying.
>> Dying. Like it was the first time it happened though. I [ __ ] I felt myself floating to the edge of the bed. I could hear my roommate Nancy out in the living room in my old apartment. I was like, "This is death. This is it." I'm like, I'm be like I'm like, "Shit, I should have done my will." Like I was like, "Fuck."
And every time after that, it's so terrifying. I will sit up all night. I won't even lay down. I'll sit up because I cannot like have that happen again. I was so terrified. And up until like 6 months ago, last time it happened, it's like four to 6 months ago, I remember Savannah was like, she heard me. And like I guess I was actually making noise >> cuz I was trying to scream. I I I will like I like I'll kind of let it go for a minute. I'll be like, I know what this is. But then I will try to move. I'll try to scream.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> And then like all of a sudden like I I gain composure over like my muscles and like my body and I'll like jump up in bed and I'll be like like breathing heavy but like I I've been trying so hard and no matter how many times it happens it's not any less scary to me.
>> Yeah.
>> I hate it. It's really not cool because like you're really you're frozen and some I used to feel that weight in my chest and that you know I felt like I was getting killed you know what I mean or attempted to be killed >> by something I couldn't see or fight back against like it's not fair when something can smush you down in a bed and you can't punch it back.
>> Well, I never felt smooshed. I just felt like so the one time I was I was able to open my eyes and see the room.
>> Huh. And I could hear things like I hear the TV like I said I could hear the TV out there but like I couldn't move. Then the one the only time that was different when ever this I've stepped me like a dozen or more times was um my ex the one he was um he used to change semi semi- tires and he would go like all hours of the night um on call and I swear he was there and he had a whole ass conversation with me during this and I called him like as soon as like the whole like escapade was over and he's like obviously changing a semi- tire somewhere and I was I actually my stomach dropped. I was like, "Holy fuck." You know, cuz that was the only time that like I could I could say some I almost hallucinated or like I felt like someone else was there but they talked to me kind of thing. That's the only one and only time that happened during like the sleep paralysis like episode I guess you could say.
>> A lot of the times it's just me knowing I'm awake. I can hear, see, smell, feel things in like my actual natural environment, but I can't move. And I try to scream. I try to like gain control like sit up, move, do anything I can.
Like it's so terrifying because you just try to move your body. You know you're awake but you can't move your body >> and then you all of a sudden you gain control of your muscles and you just like shoot up in bed and and you're like or wherever you're sleeping but usually for me it's my bed. And then and then you're like holy [ __ ] >> Mhm.
>> You know.
>> Mhm.
>> Did you guys ever experience that?
And no, he didn't. 777. Yeah, that was the one time I heard the voices.
So this cap, it's not cap. This is this is like God's honest truth. I swear on my daughter's life, I swear in everything. Holy every fiber of my being, this is this is like legit. It's a real It's a real thing, guys. Whether it's it's paranormal or whether it's science and chemicals like your body releases. I don't I don't know. I'm not claiming this is paranormal.
>> I I kind of think it is personally because >> what happened to me as a kid and I've actually seen things when it was happening to me and once I learned how to push away bad spirits and like set boundaries and stuff stopped happening.
So to me, there's some sort of scientific evidence to say if it's never happened since, it must have been paranormal. Cuz it's if I've had it most of my life, why wouldn't it continue if it wasn't? You know what I mean?
>> Yep. It thinks you're Yes. Exactly, Todd. It thinks you're sleeping, but you're awake, but your body thinks it's sleeping. Yes.
>> That's what science wants you to think.
And I think sometimes it could be true, but it definitely wasn't true with a lot of things. Well, let's find out because >> I actually saw stuff.
>> I looked this up. That's how like before I even guys before this happened to me before I even was into the paranormal. I didn't believe the paranormal existed when I started experiencing this. So, I'm not coming from a place of this is all a paranormal like demons or you know explanation.
Yeah.
>> Yeah. And and often times, you know, a lot of things can be true and we can look at it that way. You know, you may have something paranormal hitting you.
It could be a brain thing. Um, and both could be true at the same time.
>> Yeah, two things can be true at once.
Sleep paralysis is a temporary temporary inability to move or speak that occurs when a person is either falling asleep or waking up. Although the mind has become conscious, the body remains in a state of temporary paralysis. The this paralysis is actually a normal part of sleep. During the rapid eye movement or REM stage, the brain temporary switches off most voluntary muscles. Uh this project uh protective mechanism known as REM Antonia prevents people from physically acting out their dreams. See sleepwalking remember?
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I I actually dated a girlfriend um in college who would sleepwalk and she would >> I think was step brothers where they throw the pillows in the the [ __ ] oven and then they like they throw the Christmas presents at their parents.
Have you ever seen step brothers? I got it on video.
>> It's one of my favorite movies ever.
>> Yes. Your mind is up and your body is still asleep. It's It's paralyzed by a chemical. Oh, you sleepwalk. So, if you guys have seen Step Brothers, Debbie's in the chat for Step Brothers.
Um, normally Rem Antonia ends before we regain consciousness. During sleep paralysis, however, consciousness returns before the body is fully awakened. The result is an unsettling mismatch. The mind is awake but the body is still asleep.
>> Episodes typically last anywhere from a few seconds to 2 or 3 minutes. It feels like an hour but it's like 30 seconds forever.
>> It feels like an hour but it's like 30 seconds to like a minute >> and it's horrible.
>> They often feel much longer >> because of the intense fear they produce. It's [ __ ] terrifying.
>> Common symptoms.
Complete inability to move or speak.
Feeling awake and aware of their surroundings. Difficulty taking breaths.
A sensation of pressure on the chest. Y >> feeling as though someone is in the room, hearing voices, footsteps, knocking, whispers, or buzzing sounds.
>> I mean, other than the hallucination with my Alex, I I've never heard any of that other >> I never heard that stuff either. Felt that terrible.
>> Seeing shadowy figures or human like silhouettes?
>> Yeah, I have. I definitely have.
>> Me never. Feeling touched, grabbed, or pulled? No. Intense fear or panic? Yes.
These experiences can feel extraordinarily real, making it understandably why many people believe that they've encountered something supernatural. What does science say?
>> Um, >> one time, can I tell a scary story about this?
>> Yeah.
>> You cool with that?
>> Wait, do you want to do it right now?
And what does science say or we want to do in the paranormal?
>> Yeah.
>> Let's just tell a story.
>> Let's do the science first.
>> Okay.
>> The science and then tell your story.
>> All right. That sounds like a good idea.
The researchers generally agree that sleep paralysis occurs because the brain and body are temporal temporarily out of sync during the transition between REM sleep and wakefulness. Several factors are known to increase the likelihood of an episode. Sleep deprivation kind of >> we have that sometimes >> irregular sleep schedules.
>> We have that sometimes.
>> Uh high levels of stress or anxiety.
Okay. Sleeping on the back.
I do know I did notice that as a um common thing when I have kids.
>> Yeah, I slip in the back when I do that.
Yeah.
>> Certain sleep disorders such as narcopsy. I mean I can fall asleep Todd demonstrate narcolepsy. Um >> when it's dogs or >> some medications or substances I can't tell you that. I don't think that's a thing for me. During an episode, the brain may continue producing dream imagery even though the person is aware of their surroundings because brain is trying to make sense of conflicting information and may create a vivid hallucination that feels completely real.
>> Stupid brains.
>> There are three types of hallucinations.
The intruder, a person that senses someone or something is nearby. A dark figure standing in the corner. A person watching from the doorway. Someone approaching the bed. An overwhelming feeling of being observed. The incubus >> that's >> pressure on the chest. Difficulty breathing. Feeling pinned down. A sensation that someone is sitting or pressing against the body. See I've had the difficulty breathing but never like feeling someone's sitting at me.
>> This is never sexy like that.
>> Vest vest vestibular >> vestibular >> vestibular. What are experiences?
Floating above the bed flying through the room. See, that's when I felt the floating down my bed. First time that this happened. The only time >> I felt myself actually float. I thought I was dying. I'm like, this is it.
>> Yeah.
>> This I was um I was like 19, 20 before I had my daughter and I was like, bye world. You know, >> like peace out. Adios, [ __ ] I mean, I was like, what am I going to do now about this [ __ ] >> Yeah.
uh falling, leaving the body, moving despite the physical ability or moving despite being physically unable to.
We've all had those things when you're falling asleep and like you slam into your battery.
>> Oh, I hate that. It's so freaky.
>> Oh, it still happens. It happened to me actually just like two days ago.
>> Or when you're really sick and like you're feel like you're falling and falling falling and you slam into the ground. I don't know if that's ever happened to you. Or you're floating away. You know, I've had that one floating down my fever. One of the reasons why according to science sleep paralysis is convincing and feels so real is that the emotional center of the brain particularly in the m amigala is highly active during REM sleep >> amigdala >> amydala yep or you can say it that way is responsible for processing fear and detecting threat rats well okay obviously that doesn't explain whatever during sleep paralysis this heightened activity can create an overwhelming sense of danger is present. This is not fight or flight.
>> Mhm.
>> We're fighting or flighting because of this already.
>> Right.
>> Like people like scientists love to just be like >> they ruin everything.
>> We're just going to chuck this onto this and we're just going to like throw spaghetti against the wall and see what sticks.
>> Yeah.
>> Like that piece of spaghetti stuck so it's going to stick for everybody when everyone else is like I don't like spaghetti.
>> Right.
>> Agreed.
>> Yes. At the same time, the brain is attempting to explain why the body won't move. It may generate the image of a threatening figure. Okay? Really?
>> Yeah. Really? Well, >> I mean, I've never seen a threatening figure, but >> that was my story.
>> No, but your brain would just like your brain can't understand why the body won't move, so it generates the like image of a freaking like a demon. Like, come on.
>> Really?
>> Or producing a vivid and deeply convincing experience. Like, no. Your brain is supposed to make sense of things, not scare the [ __ ] out of you.
Yeah, I'm protecting you.
>> So, when have you ever heard your brain supposed to scare the living [ __ ] out of you?
>> That's what I'm saying.
>> So, if you're scared, your brain's going to make you [ __ ] terrified.
>> Let's make it worse. Let's >> think you're [ __ ] almost have like cardiac event and like just leave this earth.
>> Mhm.
>> No, the paranormal perspective and your cure story.
>> All right, here we go. So, I was sleeping in my bed in my parents' house when I was a little guy. Probably like, you know, 10 years old or something. And I had that freaking sleep paralysis and it's it's so frustrating and annoying cuz I always felt like something was attacking me. That's my take on it. I would be pushed into a bed. I'd have marks on me. Um dogs would run out of the room and like come on. If my brain's inventing this, why why am I getting marks? Why am I having animals like freak out? You know what I mean? Like there's a secondary layer to that proof to me. Anyway, one day I woke up and I knew it was coming because I got really used to it and I opened up my eyes at the foot of my bed and other people might have seen stuff like this. The best way I can describe is I saw a little like a head of something with eyeballs that were red and the flesh of it was like cauliflower shaped but it was like brown. like a brown cauliflower shaped creature at the end of my bed. [ __ ] freaked me the [ __ ] out and I felt was extraterrestrial potentially, not necessarily demonic.
And I didn't like it at all. So I shut my eyes and I tried to go back to sleep and I couldn't. And I could feel more creatures around me like moving around the room and I didn't want to look and see what they were.
And then I opened my eyes I think really quick and saw more and I was like [ __ ] this [ __ ] and I disassociated and I just shut my eyes and I think I tried to force myself to sleep. But I'll never forget that because it scared the [ __ ] [ __ ] out of me. And I'm pretty sure that >> I think that was like, let's see, about 40 years ago.
>> Wow.
>> Cuz I was like, you know, probably 10 or 11.
>> Wow. That's a long time.
>> It was just before I started getting I think had that abdu abduction experience I had.
>> And have you hit them like continuously?
>> Mhm.
>> Since then?
>> Nope. Once I started to learn how to protect myself.
>> Wait, when's the last time you've had sleep paralysis?
>> God, it was pro not since my parents house >> before I moved to Fredonia. So 19 probably last time I had it was like probably 1987 before I went to college a couple years before then cuz I started doing research and like how to like combat bad negative entities and set boundaries and like I got so sick and tired of being attacked I took the offensive and I got a bunch of kids together trying to research what this all was about >> and um Oh yeah >> like my first last one was like six weeks ago. That's crazy. or whatever I said like six months ago forever.
>> Um two months I don't know I can't remember it was a few months ago. What was your email?
>> My email.
>> You have your phone?
>> Yeah.
>> Your email.
>> Okay. Meow.
>> T me.
>> I'll type it.
>> Your email. No, just tell me. It's probably in there.
>> But then everybody know what it is.
>> Oh, it is that. This right here.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. I got to go upstairs and go pee.
>> Okay. and go and uh you so you start at the paranormal perspective. Okay, so now we're going to tell you guys the paranormal perspective. Todd was attacked by a gremlin. Oh, there's so maybe that's what it was.
>> It could have been a gremlin. That that would describe it.
It >> wasn't very adorable to me. I didn't like it.
>> I love gremlins. Bro was abducted and probed.
to say for >> I don't know what happened to me when I was taken up in the ship if I was but I know that there was a a stop in my memory that was put on me and positive about that cuz I remember waking up in the morning >> and I had an impression to not talk about it and that word those words we're going to bed don't ask my dad about it cuz he walked down the stairs and he had this weird look in his face his hair is all messed up cuz he was taken up there too cuz I remember him going to my And I looked at him. I said, "Don't talk about it." And he's like, "Yeah, don't talk about it. I made my cereal."
>> I'll be right back, guys.
>> Spilling milk out of my Frosted Flakes.
And it was not a fun thing. What was it?
What did you find? He said, >> "Well, I don't know, but I just saw a psychic, a psychic about this." And um she she immediately when I sat down immediately launched into me being abducted by aliens and she knew all the stuff about things that I never told anybody including sneezing out of my nose a little ball like little silver ball that it bounced on the counter of my parents um bathroom and I caught it and I stuck it in the palm of my hand.
And I was looking at it and I'm like, "Dad, dad, I just, you know, sneezed out this crazy [ __ ] ball and he comes running in and opens up the He's looking at it into my hand." And as we're looking at it, it starts to smoke and within like two or three seconds, it just disappeared. It just went and fizzled out. And I was like, "What the [ __ ] was that?" I'm like, "Did you see that?" He's like, "Yeah." And it wasn't until like four or five years later, I was reading Whitley Strieber's book, Communion, and actually described that exact thing from people that were claimed uh to be abductees. And I know this isn't necessarily paranormal, but it's not necessarily not paranormal either, if you know what I'm saying, cuz what if ghosts in some standard extradimensional beings or things we don't understand, higher vibration? Hard to know. But when you go through stuff like this, you don't forget it. It's deeply embedded in me.
All right. So, anyway, the paranormal perspective. Well, Stephanie's a little bit busy. While science offers a neurological explanation to all this stuff, many people believe sleep paralysis is more than sleep phenomenon.
Some paranormal theories suggest that sleep paralysis may involve encounters with spirits. Definitely could.
Shadow people. Definitely could. Um, I woke up once when I was being paralyzed and I actually saw a shadow person leaning above me like it it was like kind of like crouched over my stomach.
And the weird thing was it was a shadow but it kind of was sparking kind of like in the old days when you turn the TV off and the picture would sort of retreat into a the middle of the screen kind of like and kind of be sparky. That's what it looked like and it must have known when I woke up cuz I was like what the [ __ ] and it kind of slowly stood back up and I saw this thing and I attacked it.
I actually slashed at it with a knife that I started sleeping with because I was so, you know, attacked all the time.
And I remember the knife going right through this thing, me screaming at it like get out like super loud and it never came back after that. Now, there's a show called Psychic Kids that Chip Coffee and some other people put on. And it talks about exerting will to get rid of things like this, like to say, "This is my place. Get the hell out." And that's exactly what I did that night.
So, I was so sick of being attacked.
Kind of wears you down after a while and you get angry. So, anyway, that's what happened. So, I definitely saw a shadow person when I was being uh paralyzed.
Another one, demonic oppression. If you ever smell sulfur when this stuff goes down or you see a bunch of flies in the window that weren't there before, I'd look into that.
Astral projection. Someone put in the chat a minute ago about a silver cord.
Um, if you astral, if you do project yourself astrally, finding the way back to your body is kind of a weird freakout mental thing and following that silver cord. You sort of suggest it to yourself when you get back to your body. But I've never been actually paralyzed myself while astral projecting. I've only done it a few times and it felt totally different. I felt like I was floating and free.
All right. Interdimensional beings.
Yeah. What is a ghost? What is a demon?
Where do they come from? Um are extradimensional beings the same thing or different or part of the whole entire puzzle? Don't know, but could be spiritual attacks. Hell yeah.
I'm 100% I'm 100% convinced that as a kid, because I was a psychic medium, I was a threat to things that are negative. And I think I was attacked as a kid and so was my wife. Um because eventually we turned into people that could fight back against them and we started doing a lot of work in people's homes, especially had kids to get rid of negative entities in homes and learn how to do that together as a team. Um so I definitely think I was attacked by by things as a child to try to eliminate me. You know, I was choked, I was pulled out of beds, I was smashed, you know, sat on the whole nine yards. And so was she and we both lived kind of close by.
Um, and we compared notes when we met and we were like blown away by the fact that we both experienced such similar things.
We both felt we were trying to be eliminated.
Um, next things, visits from deceased loved ones. Boy, that's a tough one. I mean, I always see this as a negative uh experience. So I don't know a deceased loved one would come back to you and mess with you negatively but maybe it's a experience of sleep paralysis when they come by and warping in maybe kind of like paralyzes you but I always have gotten a sense of peace or warmth or even sort of like a mental um discussion or a mental impression when when deceased loved ones come back to me. It's never like it was with sleep paralysis for me. So I'm surprised it's there.
Next thing, many people point to the remarkable similarities in reports from around the world.
Individuals who have never met or have come from entirely different cultures often describe seeing dark humanlike figures, feeling a presence or sensing something standing near the bed.
Some believe this consistency suggests there may be an external phenomenon involved. I think so. Others argue that the shared experiences simply reflect how human brains respond under similar neurological conditions. And that actually makes sense too if we're all human >> and this is like a worldwide phenomenon because we all have brains. I guess I could see that.
So I stopped that.
>> My father has dementia. He's not gifted.
El Mayo.
Um, so shadow people. One of the most frequently reported figures during sleep paralysis is the shadow person. Uh, witnesses often describe a tall featureless silhouette, a dark darker than dark figure, red or glowing eyes, less commonly reported, standing silently in the corner, watching without speaking, moving toward the bed. Some people report seeing the same figure repeatedly over many years. Scientists generally explain these experiences as dream imagery continuing into wakefulness. Paranormal researchers however sometimes interpret reoccurring sightings as possible encounters with an external entity and there's cultural beliefs around the world. There's a lot of them. Um some believe a witch was sitting on sleeper's chest and we saw that in there right chat.
>> Yeah. In parts of Scandinavia, um, supernatural being known as the mare, believed to sit on sleeping people and cause terrifying dreams. Rude.
Rude.
>> Living off fear, baby.
>> The English word nightmare is thought to evolved from these. Oh, balls in a basket of balls. That makes sense. Mayor or nightmare.
>> No. Well, mayor is a horse. But in Scandinavia, yeah, they described the supernatural being as the mirror that sat on people and caused terrifying dreams.
>> No way.
>> The English word nightmare is thought to have evolved from these traditions.
>> That's crazy.
>> Ball sack. I don't even know.
>> It's been going on for a long time. Then >> in Japan, similar experiences have known to be associated with spiritual forces and Newfoundland, Canada. People have long Canada I never even heard Canada being involved in anything. No offense to any Canadian.
It's New Finland described as a frightening old woman sitting on the sleeper's chest. Creepy.
>> Yeah, right.
>> Why an old me man?
>> Yeah. Can you just punch the >> I tried >> old hag and the >> I tried to punch hags >> cter sitting on my chest, man.
>> The strikingly similar to I mean come on. If it was a whole bag, I wouldn't I would not be nearly as scared. I'd be like, "Let's go, bitch." These strikingly similar traditions show that people have been trying to explain sleep paralysis for centuries. Do we get any?
Um, >> so anyway, scientists, I'd like them to explain why my two dogs would would react to things when I was having a sleep paralysis event and usually freak the [ __ ] out. Their hair would stand up and they'd run out of the room. If if I'm just having it myself, why would dogs react to that?
>> They Well, yeah. They want >> You know what I'm saying to me? That that that that's telling me there's something going on they're sensing and isn't me.
>> No, it's not. So, like it's funny like the the shadow figure guy like whatever my one apartment I lived at, there was a guy in the kitchen. I'm like I just moved in my my so this is before I believed in any of this stuff and I actually forgot about it for forever and I was um living up there before my sister and her um my ex-roin-law lived moved in downstairs cuz they were still renovating and I had my bedroom off the kitchen and I remember I woke up and I sat up and I saw this guy and he was wearing the like the top hat like the whole cliche thing just standing in front of my kitchen sink. I remember I wasn't scared. I just blinked. I kept blinking and it wasn't going away. I just kept blinking and I just sat there blinking.
>> Wow.
>> And then eventually like kind of dissipated and then I just remember just laying back down going back to sleep.
>> Mhm.
>> And then like I my I rationalized it to 25 different things. Like I knew I wasn't asleep cuz I was sitting up in bed.
>> Mhm.
>> And it was the same apartment where my dog would bark in a corner where there's no window. It just and like this dog never barks, never growl, nothing. He would growl and bark in this corner of like my computer area.
>> Wow.
>> of my living room. And I like what the flying ship and there's a couple other things that happened there. But that like my sister and my ex brother-in-law were like, "This place is haunted.
There's this, there's that." And like I thought like you guys are crazy. They don't even drink. But I'm like, "You guys are I don't know smoking some wacky tobaci. I don't know."
>> And which they didn't. But I was I was like something's going on down there.
>> Yeah.
>> And it was so hard for me to believe that. And like so I think of these things now doing this. But it was it was pretty [ __ ] crazy >> if you think about it.
>> Well, speaking of that, there's a a comment about people that believe schizophrenics actually have attachments. So, it's interesting because I'm a therapist and schizophrenia and psychic mediumship and shamanism and stuff really sort of meld and blend together and shamans and people like that that are medicine people and healers in most cultures come from people that are currently diagnosed are often diagnosed as schizophrenic which is really weird. And if you look at the DSM, it'll actually say this diagnosis isn't necessarily valid if it's culturally, and that's how they do this, is culturally acceptable in the current framework of the person's culture. So that's the escape hatch with that one because there basically you know as as as professionals were saying there may be more of this stuff than just chemical imbalances in the brain you know and if I talk you know about my experiences my ability to have clear audience and um clare sensience and all that kind of stuff people might think I'm crazy but you know what they're not me they're having my experiences and they're valid to me >> they're not me who knows he's crazy and Now we have technology that can help us back up what we're sensing where we get things voices and recorders. We didn't have that when I was growing up.
>> Thank you Mike W for subscribing.
>> You know grandpodons and all that kind of stuff where you can actually see the interactions that a lot of people it would be maybe labeled as schizophrenic, >> right? We're all crazy to somebody.
>> Yeah.
>> Everyone is haunted. I don't think you're you're far off from the truth there.
>> Yeah.
>> You'd be surprised. But it is tough.
>> Final thoughts. Sleep paralysis sits at the fascinating intersection of science and the supernatural. Neuroscience provides a wellsupported explanation involving REM sleep, muscle paralysis, and dream related hallucinations. At the same time, the vividness and emotionally emotional intensity of the experience have inspired centuries of folklore and have continued to fuel paranormal interpretations today. Whether you believe sleep paralysis is a neurological phenomenon, a spiritual encounter, or perhaps something that we have yet to fully understand, one thing is certain. The experience feels profoundly real to those who live through it.
>> Mhm.
>> Amen.
>> Oh, hell yeah.
>> That is why it continues to be one of the most discussed and debated subjects in both sleep science and paranormal research.
Let's go. I would love the sleep study on this. This sounds great.
>> Answer a question because somebody asked about um what's the research you actually swallow in your lifetime.
>> Okay. So, if you ever watch the uh movie Fire in the Sky, they actually have a scene of a guy waking up and there's a bunch of aliens around him. And this came out maybe 10 years after I had my experiences. And one of those aliens looked just like the cauliflower guy. It was at the foot of my bed and that movie re-triggered me. Like I had a really tough time after watching that film cuz I'm like, "Holy [ __ ] I remember this. I remember that." And it and it really affected me to my core. So if you ever watch the movie Fire in the Sky, what's going on in there? And the visuals that they came up with probably came from people that were having these experiences cuz man, they were legit, >> you know.
>> So, wait, what is it?
>> Fire in the Sky. It's It was a movie that was released about alien abduction.
>> Scare the [ __ ] out of me cuz it was it all that subconscious stuff was squished in me. I think was being kind of like >> um activated.
>> What?
>> Someone said broke back mountain. No, not that one.
>> It's got to do with us.
>> Aussie Aussie lives. Let's go to the very back mountain people.
>> What did you tell them that night?
>> Secret spiders. You know how many spiders a human actually swallows in their lifetime when they're sleeping?
You don't want to know.
>> Yeah, like six or something.
You guys are funny as [ __ ] Wait. Oh, I watch it and watch it and you just sent me down a rabbit hole on my way down the shore.
Broke my mom was a good movie though.
Lol. I've never actually seen it.
>> I haven't either, but I >> heard about I mean, I know it's about obviously, but >> I'm sure it's good.
>> No judgment. I'm sure it's good.
>> It's just kind of funny in this this context. Hi, grandchild woke up during her sleepover. Had to get her back to sleep. Where are you located? State. I mean, um Buffalo, New York.
Well, city and state.
>> Say the belo. It sounds cooler.
>> Well, yeah, it's Buffalo kind of. It is what it is here. Buffalo and you know there are no buffalo in the United States or bison.
>> No, there's another buffalo. There's like a buffalo in another state.
>> I know, but in real life the animals aren't buffalo. Actually bison. Buffalo are actually going south.
>> Yeah. I just learned that reindeer are real.
>> Yeah, they're up north.
>> I was driving to reindeers and I drove by a reindeer farm in Hamburg.
>> Mhm.
>> And I said, "Holy [ __ ] is that a reindeer?" And then um was like, "Yes."
And John was there, too. And I'm like, "Rindeer real?" I thought it was I mean never mind. They told me not to say so many people and I'm saying my lie.
>> You can and goats are real. You can actually goats are real >> and they bounce around. They they um they're fun. You should >> Okay, I'm not >> There's a goat farm you can go to.
>> Riri I know.
>> I didn't know reindeer were real.
>> Do you guys know reindeer? Okay, never mind.
>> You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen. Come on.
>> You know [ __ ] up and eat a dick.
>> Those are the new ones.
>> Those are the new ones.
I started a bug earlier. It went all the way through the fire besides me. Um, little Miss Muffet.
>> Wait, what does that one say?
Care, >> new conspiracy. Goats are real, right?
Bacon Scooby snacks, right? We're going to debate this like the the premonition versus uh deja vu. Goats are real.
Listen, I am the goat. Like, I'm not the goat. Like I'm not stuck on myself. My I'm born in January. I thought growing up my whole life that my astrological sign was a unicorn and then I realized it was a goat and it was disappointing.
Now everyone's like the goat, the goat.
I'm like well guess what? I am the goat.
>> It's just so happy to be born in January. Just happened to be the goat.
>> And I like mine cuz I was born in August and the lion.
>> I mean I'm the I happen to be the greatest of all time. I don't even know.
>> Lion. I love the lion. Uh, so if you like magic mushrooms and if you drink the whiz, you can Oh, all the goats from like mushrooms said pee.
>> I don't understand how the mushrooms pee.
>> Uh, you are real. Changed my mind. Yep, I'm a real goat. Yay. You always being recorded me. Oh, staff 916. Thank you.
>> That's a really good comment.
>> That's very sweet. I'm going to put that on my tombstone.
>> I need a really big tombstone.
>> Coat is delicious. Just saying. Yes. Who wants to pop a bottle of champagne for the goat? Get it while you can. We're running out of time. Just saying. Love the live and you look beautiful. Oh, thank you Darren Fisher. 84 67. Oh >> 67.
>> 67. Cuz anybody else think that 67 looks like you're juggling titties.
>> Seven. Oh, we asked.
>> Doesn't it like it looks like you're juggling titties? I don't know.
Whatever.
>> How was the stone? How is this stone pony? What does that mean?
>> What about differentiating mental illness or epilepsy and demonic possession?
>> So epilepsy seizures like I think that's a real medical condition. Um but we got we talk about mental illness and demonic possession and we got a whole conversation that me and him could debate for days because I've never experienced demonic possession.
>> I guzzled that champagne. My wife did.
Oh, $50 uh super chat. We will guzzle it for you in your honor. T-ird shade tea burden shade.
Literally, we will cherish you. We will drink that [ __ ] >> So, one day my wife >> in the Bible. Oh, Mary says on the left something in the Bible. Um >> what? Oh >> yeah, we were asking what that meant.
Remember?
>> Oh.
>> Oh, you hit the wrong button. That's okay. We all do it. Hold on. What was it that she said? Uh or they said, excuse me.
No, that she's sad. Sorry. Mary's dad.
Um.
>> Oh, man.
>> Oh, wait. What is it that she said? [ __ ] balls.
>> I don't think she said [ __ ] balls, but we don't see.
>> Oh, let me find.
>> Dude, there's this movie called Legend with the Tom Cruz in when I was a young guy. It's got unicorns in it and it's a really cool story. And I I recently saw >> the reference they got >> um that I picked up at Savers, which is kind of a a cool store that sells like used stuff that's donated. And man, you know, it's like that that director's cut was a lot better. Made more sense.
And unicorns are beautiful. I got to say # chip.
Anyway, goblin knocked the horn off.
>> Thank you for subscribing.
Wild. Go ahead. Go ahead. Sorry. Sorry.
Sorry.
>> I was just making noise.
>> No. No. Say it. Say it.
>> Well, it's like this goblin felt the unicorn horn had magic in it and it did.
Anytime he like pointed at stuff, it would do things like he could light a fire or blow something up or cause it to do um >> Wait, use your unicorn horn for good.
>> Well, you shouldn't. Well, he's a goblin. He's he was being evil. But um it did say that like unicorns if they're on earth would be safe and good. And I thought that was kind of a cool idea.
Yeah. Legend.
>> T-ird and shade. Is that a poem you just made?
>> Yep. Legend from the 1980s. Yeah. Tom Cruz is like a little kid in it.
>> Are you going to call a ghost? No. You going to call HTI?

Another fun fact about this is um Tommy Lee, not Tommy Lee, uh Kid Rock and Pam AM, Pamela Anderson got um separated because of this scene in Borat in the first one where he was trying to get with you know Pamela and he was trying to make his way to her and he had no idea that like that scene was in the movie. So if you Google it, I guarantee you I'm not making this [ __ ] up. That's why they separated which is crazy. of all the [ __ ] she's done.
>> I take my wife in the rug >> because like when the the the frat boys were watching the video and all that, like he didn't know that was in the movie. And if you Google I'm not making it up. Google it. Like that's why they separated which is crazy.

>> Smoker voice. I don't like I don't smoke. I vape.
I've always had like a lower voice, guys. I don't know.

>> I mean, I don't really think I have a smoker voice.
I don't know.
>> You have like a Keith Richardsy good singing voice.
>> I don't know what the hell that is.
>> What does that even mean? So you get to play with the building stands.
>> Well, like when I was in choir, they like like you know like you do like the higher low like side of the stage, you know, like a higher voice or lower voice. I don't know. Raspy.
