Standing Wave Ratio (SWR) measures antenna efficiency, with values closer to 1.0 indicating better performance (95-98% efficiency); the stock LilyGo T-Echo antenna shows extremely poor SWR performance, while a $8 replacement antenna achieves an efficient 1.2 SWR, demonstrating that antenna quality significantly impacts wireless communication efficiency.

Antenna Standing Wave Ratio: Off The Charts! #shorts本站添加:
What we do here is we plug this guy in and you should start to see, there we go, the standing wave ratio. And do you see how out of whack that is? Okay? Do you see how out of whack that is? Do you see how high that is? That's like off the chart. This isn't bad. This is This is Epstein Island bad on an antenna.
Okay? That's the stock LilyGo antenna.
So, for a funny thing was I bought another antenna cuz I'm like, you know what? This is an all black device. I kind of have a black and yellow theme for a lot of things going. So, let's get another antenna here just to change the color up. And these are both supposedly 915 MHz tuned antennas, all right? So, we're going to plug this in. Do you see that standing wave ratio and how much better that is? Okay? So, do you see that standing wave ratio? So, I'm going to uh bring this all the way down to we're targeting 915 MHz. Do you see that's like at about a 1.2?
You want it as close to one as possible.
A perfect one is very, very, extremely hard to get, but it's an efficiency in the uh I want to say like 95 to 98% if I'm not mistaken on the math. So, the one thing I will definitely say if you do get the LilyGo T-Echo, uh don't use their antenna. Uh I will, when I eventually try to make a video, include a link to this specific antenna. But, this was only like a $8 antenna. So, the interesting thing is when you look at both of the antennas, cuz these are supposed to both be for 915 MHz. So, initially when I looked at the antenna, I was like, "Hey, uh that looks like it's all right. Where's the other antenna?" You know, that it like if you look at the surface, they both have about the same length, maybe like a millimeter or so difference. Not enough that it should make a difference. So, I wonder if there was an issue with the manufacturing of the antenna itself or there's something else going on. Either way, that one I can't recommend.
