The Inverse Marble Run is a marble track where marbles fill the entire track and a hole floats upward slowly when a marble is removed from the bottom. The design requires careful slope optimization: steeper slopes where marbles wait to prevent them from staying stationary, and gentler slopes where marbles roll to prevent them from being pushed over the edge. The track must be precisely 10mm wide to match marble diameter, with zero spacing between track and support. The design uses the Hilbert Curve pattern and requires over a dozen prototypes to achieve the right balance between marble movement and hole ascent speed.

Inverse Marble Run - How to integrate this into a regular marble run?
Added:Hi, I'm Oscar van Daventer and is the inverse marble run.
You may remember it's predecessor the inverse marble hex and one of the things that I didn't like about this design is that the ball or actually the hole floats up so quickly. So what you have seen for this marble run that the whole actually floats up quite slowly and that was by design because I wanted to design this marble run in such a way that the hole floats up quite slowly to the top.
So eh I went through quite a few design internships. So let me just show you because there was actually a lot to design.
So first of all the question was what should be the slope? Because one of the challenges with these marble runs is that if the slope is too shallow then balls just can stay in their place.
That's not something that you want. So that was one challenge.
Another challenge is that when you have two or three balls in a row that they push each other and they push each other over the over the edge. And since the marble track needs to be as white as the ball 10 mm there would be a lot of pressure. So that pressure needed to be lowered. So when we had straight stretches I needed to reduce the slope.
And also in the angle eh so in the corner where they go down I need to vary the slope because there is one position where the ball stays. That's where the slope should be steepest but below behind that it can be a bit shallower because ultimately I wanted to get as much marble in the the height of my 3D printer. So this is how I maxed out. And you see I've also done an experiment by epoxying the track. Well, that was a really bad idea because yes it didn't run at all.
I mean it runs quite nicely down but if you fill the track and you want to make it run eh they just stick. So that was n't a good idea either. And yeah, all kinds of different shapes and experiments. And finally, I found the right shape. So, this was my first prototype and yes, it's actually quite a lot of fun just to fill the thing with Marvel. So, let me eh the whole thing eh rolls well, but it also has the property that when you do the inverse marble run, so where the marble goes up, that the marble the whole floats up slowly and as you can see it takes a lot of time for the marbles to go all the way down but also the floating up takes a lot of time so this makes this marble run eh quite yes a lot of fun to work with you can see I've used the usual tree support trick to put the tree support under the track and the distance between the tree support and the track is 0 mm. So, everything stays together and I thought it would be nice to have multiple colors. So, I did some color switching and finally I'm really happy with the result.
