The Red Shadow: India's Century of Communist Subversion

[00:00:00]In late October 1917, a radio broadcast crackled to life announcing an event that would change the course of global history.

[00:00:09]The Soviets had overthrown the Tsarist regime. Communists had seized power in Russia.

[00:00:16]For the first time, Karl Marx's political ideology wasn't just a theory in a book. It had acquired the world's largest country. It was the spectacular victory of a bloody ideological revolution. [music] A system where violence and bloodshed were not bugs, but features. Welcome to the Red Shadow. Today, >> [music] >> we are tracing a shockwave that started in Moscow in 1917 and struck the heart of the Indian subcontinent. We are going to explore the near century-long history of communism in India. A tale of foreign agents, institutional capture, rebranded identities, [music] and an ongoing civilizational war. When the Soviet Union was formed, it sent shockwaves of joy among communist ideologues [music] worldwide.

[00:01:05]They looked to their new big brother in Moscow for guidance, training, and most [music] importantly, money.

[00:01:12]In British-ruled colonial India, communism was still just an academic concept. That is >> [music] >> until a young man named Manabendra Nath Roy, better known as M.N. Roy, stepped onto the world stage. Roy [music] is widely regarded as the father of communism in India, and his origin [music] story is nothing short of a geopolitical thriller.

[00:01:35]In his efforts to raise funding for an armed revolt against the British, Roy [music] traveled across the globe.

[00:01:42]He went first to Indonesia and Japan seeking initial support. [music] Then to San Francisco and New York where he read Karl Marx and transformed [music] into a die-hard communist. Then to Mexico where he was funded [music] generously by the German military.

[00:01:59]He charmed the political elite including [music] President Carranza and founded the Communist Party of Mexico, the only [music] one outside Russia at the time.

[00:02:09]This caught the eye of Vladimir Lenin himself. Lenin invited Roy to the Communist International, met him personally, and hired him to spark a revolution in India.

[00:02:21]In October 1920 in Tashkent, the Communist Party of India was born as both a political and military outfit.

[00:02:28]From its founding in 1920 to the modern era, Indian communists have shared a common theme, acting as agents of foreign powers, constantly working against the Hindu civilization and the Indian state.

[00:02:45]>> [music] >> For decades, they received ideological training and money from Moscow to organize mass unprovoked violence.

[00:02:54]Over 70 years, >> [music] >> they blocked economic growth through forced strikes, lockouts, and violent street agitations. But a little-known fact is their active collusion with the British, and worse, their ideological backing of the Muslim League's demand for the partition of India.

[00:03:15]Leaders like M. N. Roy, P. C. Joshi, S.

[00:03:19]A. Dange, and E. M. S. Namboodiripad were linked [music] to sabotaging the freedom struggle. Let's look at 1942.

[00:03:29]Gangadhar Adhikari, >> [music] >> the general secretary of the CPI, wrote what became known as the infamous Adhikari thesis.

[00:03:38]It wasn't just about supporting Pakistan. It was a blueprint for [music] total balkanization. Adhikari argued for breaking India into multiple separate countries, [music] the Marathi country, the Tamil country, the Punjab country, the Telugu country, and so [music] on. The logic, why stop at Pakistan? Split India into as many pieces as possible.

[00:04:03]>> [music] >> To the communists, the fundamental cultural unity of India was and still is the greatest hurdle to a total [music] communist revolution.

[00:04:13]In their own words, India's independence in 1947 was a loss of revolution.

[00:04:20]Post-independence, [music] the communists realized they didn't need to win a grassroots revolution.

[00:04:27]They could [music] capture the state from the top down, and they found a highly effective tool in India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

[00:04:37]Nehru's fascination with the USSR blinded him.

[00:04:41]He turned a blind eye as massive illegal funding flowed [music] from Moscow to Indian communists.

[00:04:47]Ironically, the more they publicly abused Nehru, the more he appeased them.

[00:04:53]>> [music] >> Fast forward to Indira Gandhi. To secure power after splitting the Congress party, she made a devil's bargain with the left.

[00:05:02]>> [music] >> Her Prime Minister's office was infiltrated by USSR agents like P.N.

[00:05:08]Haksar and D.P. Dhar.

[00:05:10]But the fatal [music] blow came in April 1969.

[00:05:14]Indira Gandhi gifted over a thousand acres of land in the heart of Delhi [music] to the communists.

[00:05:21]This birthed the Jawaharlal Nehru University, JNU, [music] the maker of Indian communists, the intellectual Kremlin on the Yamuna. From here, they wove a deep, extensive nexus of left-wing academics, [music] writers, journalists, and bureaucrats.

[00:05:39]The late 1980s and early '90s brought massive shocks.

[00:05:44]The Berlin Wall fell. The [music] Soviet Union collapsed.

[00:05:49]Rajiv Gandhi was humiliatingly defeated in 1989.

[00:05:53]Simultaneously, [music] the Ram Janmabhoomi movement sparked a grand reawakening of Hindu consciousness, [music] culminating in the destruction of the Babri Masjid, a massive [music] blow to communist symbolism in India.

[00:06:07]Realizing they could never [music] win national power on their own, the communists did what they do best. They rebranded.

[00:06:15]>> [music] >> They shed the Marxist labels and became left-liberals, human rights workers, peace [music] activists, and social justice warriors.

[00:06:24]And then came 2004. The Indian National Congress won [music] just 147 seats and desperately needed coalition partners.

[00:06:33]>> [music] >> The communists secured a historic 60 seats and offered outside support. This arrangement gave them three distinct [music] advantages: power without participation, an open field to push their agenda without accountability, and the leverage [music] to blackmail the government without consequences. Congress president Sonia Gandhi created the National Advisory Council, an extra-constitutional body filled with extreme-left [music] ideologues, some with known Maoist links. Names like Aruna Roy, Jean Drèze, and Harsh Mander drove policies that birthed legislations like MNREGA, the RTE Act, the NGT, [music] and the Food Security Bill. At the same time, over 7 lakh foreign-funded NGOs operated [music] in India, fueled by thousands of crores.

[00:07:23]Their real goals: industrial-scale religious conversions, blocking infrastructure projects by a violent agitation, and relentless legal warfare against Hindu festivals like Diwali, [music] Holi, and Jallikattu.

[00:07:37]In 2014, the Congress Party was decimated, reduced to just 44 seats.

[00:07:43]Narendra Modi [music] became Prime Minister.

[00:07:46]But the Communist 70-year institutional capture was built to survive political defeat. [music] Almost immediately, there was an explosion of far-left digital media portals acting as proxy warriors [music] for this ideology.

[00:08:00]Here are some notable names. One, scroll.in, founded by Naresh Fernandez, [music] funded by Pierre Omidyar, pedals far-left propaganda. [music] Two, The Wire, founded by Siddharth Varadarajan, >> [music] >> an open sympathizer of Maoist terrorism.

[00:08:17]Three, The Caravan, run by Ananth Nath, notable for vicious hate campaigns against [music] Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP and the RSS. Four, Alt News, founded by [music] Pratik Sinha and Mohammad Zubair, infamous for supporting extreme [music] Islamist ideology and known apologists of jihadist terror.

[00:08:38]Five, >> [music] >> NewsLaundry, run by Abhinandan Sekhri and Madhu Trehan, funded by [music] Pierre Omidyar and Mahesh Murthy among others, notorious for disinformation and consistent targeted attacks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

[00:08:53]These portals [music] share a singular goal, a vicious sustained attack on Hindu organizations, [music] activists, and the current government aiming to divide and weaken Hindu society.

[00:09:04]It is the exact [music] same template used under Indira Gandhi's patronage, upgraded for the smartphone [music] and social media era. Make no mistake.

[00:09:13]These forces are politically powerless today, but they will not stop. Their goal has never been just [music] winning elections. Their ultimate vision is civilizational. It is the complete dismantling of Hindu culture, society, and traditions to be replaced by an authoritarian state, [music] and their success is hiding in plain sight.

[00:09:34]Diwali is muted. Holi is restrained, the Sabarimala [music] pilgrimage has faced severe legal assaults, and innumerable local customs face extinction. [music] The Hindu society is fighting a war against itself, engineered from within.

[00:09:52]And the communists have achieved all of this in less than a century.

[00:09:56]This is the real history of communism in India.
